I was looking through some old posts updating some tags and I saw that apparently I tried to request an appointment with a different provider pretty much 2 months before I ended up starting HRT

So even in a place with informed consent where I was able to get an appointment technically same-day at a different provider, at a provider that is listed as somewhere that does informed consent,

the weird system of needing referrals to get appointments that for some reason is rampant in american healthcare managed to put up enough of a roadblock to delay me 2 months in starting HRT (because I was already really pushing on executive function to request an appointment, and once it became a big unknown of how to even go about getting a referral, it became insurmountable)

i was set on that provider bc i was still sharing my location with my parents and knew they'd ask if I went anywhere, so i was only prepared to go yet if it was the same provider i went to for primary care (or at least was supposed to be going to... don't worry, i fixed that later)

but then my dad screamed “are you gay and not telling me” in my face twice in a row and i was able to feel justified in not sharing location, which was a nice shortcut because it would have been months later otherwise before i got to a place of being willing to set that very necessary boundary

It's coming up on a whole year since I started writing Unbreakable Bonds and as you guys saw I recently had my first beta read of it by @amunetred on her youtube channel. With some great feedback I went back and edited that whole first chapter and I will be revisiting the entire story with everything I've learned in the last year.

You should always go back and reread your stuff to see how far you'e come when its hard to find the motivation to write and all you can see is the stuff you're doing wrong or not doing well! So in the spirit of that, enjoy this little snippet of my revamped chapter one of Unbreakable Bonds and maybe give it a read again, there might be something new...

How it started:

"In the ten years she had been away from the place that had once been her home, the shadows had grown longer and darker. There was something immediately familiar and comforting, yet she knew many things had changed. She wanted to be completely at ease, but such was the fate of those who walked in the boots of a Jedi."

Where it's at now:

The woman beside him seemed to take it all in stride; it was nothing new to her, but she understood all too well the rush of excitement and bewilderment he was feeling, as his head whipped around, unsure of where to look first. The sheer scale of the cityscape and the cacophony of sounds was enough to make anyone's head spin. In the ten years she had been away from the place that had once been her home, the shadows had grown longer and darker. DPXDC CFAU Headcanon: Ghostspeak Edition

Ghosts in the Infinite Realms who saw Jason and Danny together called them "luzdra", a term in ghost speak that directly translates into the words "shared soul". It's literal definition is; "two ghosts with a bond so deep that it was as if they had split their souls in half and given one to the other", but in general it just means two ghosts with a profound, indescribable bond.

Luzdrus is the singular form of the word, and refers to only one ghost in the bond. While "luzdra" is plural and either refers to both of them together, or the relationship as a whole. It depends on the context of the conversation and who they're saying it to.

There is no romantic, platonic, or familial connotation behind the word. It just means "someone who shares a deep bond with someone" and can be between anyone.

It also does not mean soulmate, and if you say that you'll be corrected. Soulmates implies that their bond was destined by the universe, luzdra are two people who developed and built that bond themselves. It's a relationship forged between two (or more) people.

Some of Danny's rogues -- like Kitty and Johnny, who might've seen the two together and are possibly luzdra themselves -- still call him 'luzdrus' even after Jason's disappearance from the Zone. Danny doesn't know how to feel about it.

I'm currently in my first year of university, studying as much Shakespeare as I like, and I'm part of the committee for the Shakespeare society? I've already performed in my first Shakespeare play and I'm living the life I used to dream of?

This is a reminder to everyone who's excited about RDJ's casting as Doctor Doom that this casting is whitewashing. Victor Von Doom is a Romani character and has been a Romani character since his introduction in the 1960s. (Fantastic Four Annual #2 [1964]) Not only that, but his Roma identity and the persecution he and his family faced due to it is integral to his character, it is what forms his identity. (Books of Doom by Ed Brubaker) Even if on the off chance this casting is meant to not be Victor but instead be some variant of Tony or whomever else becoming Doctor Doom, it is damaging to the character to rob him of that important cultural background. Doctor Doom does not exist without that history. Fans have been pushing hard to cast Doom as a Romani actor for years, especially since the MCU has whitewashed other Romani characters. (Wanda, Pietro, etc) This casting is not a celebration moment, it's fucking heartbreaking that the MCU repeatedly ignores the important and nuanced cultural backstories of characters.

I know I can't change anybody's mind on whether or not you want to be excited about RDJ's return to the MCU. But I do think at the very least you should be mad that the MCU is baiting us all and destroying nuanced and interesting characters for the sake of self-referential easter eggs and nostalgia bait. Because that's what it is. Feel how you'd like to feel about RDJ's return, but personally, this is soul-sucking. I had such a deep love for the MCU as a teenager, it was obviously something incredibly formative to me, especially Tony Stark. This isn't recreating what I fell in love with the MCU for. This is turning a well-planned and artistic storyline of adaptations into cheap cash grabs and fan service. Because, I think we're past the point of being able to call the MCU an adaptation of anything. They can use existing characters' names and powers, but to say they're being properly adapted is laughable.

This is not an adaptation of Doctor Doom. This is RDJ the Electric Boogaloo because Marvel's fear of losing the interest of dedicated MCU fans overrides their willingness to tell stories that are genuine to the characters. I don't know what there is to be excited about that. The MCU has lost its authenticity and aside from a few projects, feels heartless. Every movie is a copy of a copy. This announcement isn't something celebratory, it feels like a death knell of a cinematic universe that's so desperate to cling to relevancy it's resorting to nostalgia for a character/actor who hasn't even been dead for a decade. We're not getting anything new, we're just rinsing and repeating the same song and dance.

I get it. I love Tony Stark, his death destroyed me and I to this day, rue the ending he got in Endgame. It misunderstood his arc and it robbed him of a satisfying conclusion. But the solution to that isn't dragging the corpse out of the grave five years later to whitewash an existing character with rich and interesting nuance, just to forcibly tie his existence in the MCU to Tony. Whether he is a variant or not. Why would you want someone else's fave's legacy to be destroyed simply so your fave's legacy can go on? Hell, if we were really all so hellbent on the return of RDJ and/or Tony to the MCU, we have the multiverse for a reason. There were other ways to do it that didn't whitewash and ruin someone else. This just. Isn't something to be happy about.

Art Summary of 2023

I kind of wish I had taken this thing to the next level and used a picture with a clone in it for March and November as well (I looked it up now, I very much could have added my Fives portrait or that first pinup-y illustration of Rex for March, and a very cute drawing of a clone OC and his dog (of whom I am promised to get partial custody, and how cool is that really?? and I am so very excited to show him off next year!!)) but it was also the year of Din in big hats as well, so I let those pieces stay :) You'll just have to take my word that there is a Rex in the July picture too.

I feel ike I have learned so much, and also have grown a lot more confident in my skills as an artist; I've learned that I love drawing backgrounds to make a "full" illustration, that intricate little details fascinate me to no end, that I can do fun things with lineart and my version of cell shading but I also miss dedicating the time to a full painting; and that harsh/stronger light reflecting off of darker skin is still something I'll have to study further next year.

I recently got my paws on the Jada Mega Man and Fire Man figurines, and I would go as far as to say that the former is the best Mega Man figure yet!
