This is Swertia perennis, a plant in the gentian family that often found in bogs, wet meadows, and near other wetlands in Canada and Alaska. The common names alpine bog swertia, felwort, and star swertia are all used to describe this plant. I’d stay away from using “felwort” myself because that common name is also used to describe Lomatogonium rotatum, another plant in the gentian family that has a range that overlaps that of Swertia perennis. That’s the trouble with common names!
The genus Swertia was named for Emanuel Sweert, a Dutch artist and horticulturist whose illustrated catalogues of bulbs called Florilegium Amplissimum et Selectissimum, printed from 1612 to 1647, indirectly contributed to Tulip Mania. The Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid has a digitized 1647 version of Florilegium Amplissimum et Selectissimum viewable here.
