From Research to Relocation: Navigating the Moving Process in Virginia
Virginia, a state steeped in history and culture, also sees a dynamic moving industry catering to the diverse needs of its residents. The bustling cities, scenic landscapes, and a mix of residential and commercial spaces contribute to a vibrant demand for professional moving services. From the historic neighborhoods of Richmond to the urban sprawl of Northern Virginia, the state’s unique geography influences the way people move. The availability of reliable movers plays a crucial role in ensuring that transitions within the state or across its borders are seamless. With a myriad of options, selecting the right movers becomes pivotal for a stress-free relocation experience.
Choosing the Right Movers for a Seamless Move
The process of moving, whether locally or over long distances, is inherently stressful. It involves the intricate orchestration of logistics, the careful handling of belongings, and the coordination of various moving parts. This is where the significance of choosing the right movers comes into play. Opting for a reputable moving company can transform a potentially nerve-wracking experience into a smooth and efficient endeavor. The right movers not only alleviate the physical burden of transporting belongings but also contribute to peace of mind throughout the process.
Understanding Your Moving Needs:
Assessing your specific moving requirements is the first step toward a successful relocation. Whether you are moving from a cozy apartment, a sprawling house, or relocating your business, understanding the nature of your move is crucial. Residential, commercial, long-distance, or local moves each present unique challenges and considerations. Determining the size and scope of your move is equally important. Are you downsizing or upsizing? Do you need specialized packing for fragile items or valuable possessions? By addressing these questions, you lay the foundation for tailoring your moving experience to your precise needs.
Tumblr media
Researching Movers in Virginia:
Thorough research is the linchpin of finding reputable movers in Virginia. Begin by exploring online reviews, testimonials, and ratings to gauge the experiences of others with various moving companies. This wealth of information provides insights into the reliability, professionalism, and overall performance of the movers. Look for patterns in customer feedback and pay attention to how companies respond to reviews. A transparent and proactive approach to customer satisfaction is indicative of a trustworthy moving service. By leveraging the collective experiences of past customers, you can make informed decisions that align with your expectations.
Licensing and Accreditation:
Choosing licensed and accredited movers is non-negotiable for a secure and lawful move. Licensing ensures that the moving company complies with industry standards and regulations, offering a level of assurance to customers. Understanding the relevant regulatory bodies and certifications in Virginia further adds a layer of confidence. By opting for a licensed and accredited mover, you safeguard yourself against potential issues and ensure that your belongings are in the hands of professionals.
Transparent Pricing and Estimates:
Navigating moving quotes and estimates requires a discerning eye to ensure transparency. Familiarize yourself with common pricing models used by moving companies, and be vigilant about potential hidden costs. A clear and detailed estimate sets the foundation for a transparent financial agreement, preventing surprises on moving day. Ask for a breakdown of costs and seek clarification on any ambiguous terms. This proactive approach not only helps you budget effectively but also establishes a transparent and trusting relationship with your chosen movers.
Insurance Coverage:
Comprehensive insurance coverage is paramount for the protection of your belongings during the move. Understanding the different types of insurance offered by moving companies in Virginia enables you to make an informed decision. Whether it’s valuation coverage, full replacement value, or additional insurance for high-value items, knowing your options ensures that you are adequately covered. Prioritize the safety and security of your possessions by choosing a moving company that offers comprehensive insurance tailored to your needs.
Equipment and Resources:
Assessing the quality of equipment and resources used by moving companies directly impacts the efficiency of the moving process. Modern technology and tools contribute to the seamless execution of your move. Inquire about the type of vehicles, packing materials, and handling equipment used by the moving company. A well-equipped moving team is better equipped to handle challenges and ensure the safety of your belongings throughout the journey.
Customer Service and Communication:
Excellent customer service is the backbone of a positive moving experience. Assessing the communication skills of prospective moving companies is crucial. Clear and open communication fosters a collaborative and stress-free moving process. Pay attention to responsiveness, attentiveness, and the willingness of the moving company to address your concerns. A customer-centric approach indicates a commitment to client satisfaction, making the entire moving journey more pleasant.
Local Expertise and Knowledge:
Choosing movers with local expertise in Virginia offers distinct advantages. A moving company familiar with the region understands the nuances of local traffic patterns, regulations, and potential challenges. This local knowledge contributes to the efficiency of your move, ensuring that timelines are met and potential obstacles are navigated seamlessly. By opting for movers ingrained in the local landscape, you tap into a wealth of experience that enhances the overall relocation experience.
Conclusion: A Smooth Transition Awaits:
In conclusion, choosing movers in Virginia involves a multi-faceted approach that considers various factors crucial to a stress-free relocation experience. From understanding your specific needs to researching and selecting reputable movers, each step plays a pivotal role. By prioritizing licensed and accredited movers, ensuring transparent pricing, and emphasizing comprehensive insurance coverage, you safeguard your belongings and financial interests. Assessing the quality of equipment, customer service, and the local expertise of moving companies adds the final layers to a successful moving experience. As you embark on your relocation journey, prioritize thorough research and due diligence to pave the way for a smooth transition to your new home or office in Virginia.

I’m Hamish Wilson. I am white mentally ill and neurodivergent trans man who is located in southern Ohio of the USA. I have survived multiple forms of abuse but am thankfully in a happy long term relationship with my girlfriend, Liz, who lives in Germany. I want to be able to save up to move out of country to live with her and also save up for our wedding and future, but currently survival is taking priority. When I say survival I am primarily referring to rent, psychiatric medicine, and groceries / food. I have a job, I am a waiter at a sports restaurant, but they are hostile to me as an out trans worker and the money has not been nearly as reliable this year as it was the past two. I am working to pick up more and better shifts and to find a new job, but as of today (December 2, 2023) I am $1350 in rent debt and I am not hopeful for the following months. Reaching my goal of $2500 by January 1st would really change my life around and make me feel like I can finally function in enough security to pursue a happier and healthier life.
Anything would mean a lot to me right now, from donations (even small), reblogs, written encouragement, information on local resources, or commissions for my tarot services. You taking the time to read this means a lot. Thank you.

AO3 - re: the new update
Alright, so I've gone through the Privacy Policy to attempt to compile relevant information. Note, I am not a lawyer, and I'm not from the USA. I'm simply someone who decided to close read the Privacy Policy. This is not meant to tell anyone what they should or should not do, but instead help people to make an informed decision
1. Users outside the United States. Always be aware of local laws and changes to those laws. While it sometimes seems like the USA is the head-honcho, keep in mind that other countries might be working on similar items
Tumblr media
2. Accessible information which can be gathered from fics you've written and notes you've left (perhaps even comments).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Go check the email that your account is connected to and make sure that its meaningless. I'd recommend even perhaps using an AO3 specific email, as opposed to a "[email protected]" that you also use on other sites.
Tumblr media
4. I wasn't sure how accurate an IP address could be, so I turned to Google.
"Rest assured, it can't pinpoint your exact location or home address. However, it can determine the city or region where your device is located"
"Accuracy can vary depending on the location of the device and the provider. For example, IP-based geolocation services work better in big cities and less well in smaller ones. It can also be more difficult to find a precise location for a mobile device because they obtain new IP addresses as they move. "
Tumblr media
5. AO3 knows what fics you've accessed.
Tumblr media
6. AO3 may be legally compelled to share this information with law enforcement in the USA.
Tumblr media
Now. Is there more in the Privacy Policy that I did not include? Yes, and I highly recommend that everyone goes and takes a good, close read of it. Is it the end times at this exact moment? No. But, taking necessary precautions (like checking your email address or only reading on a mobile phone) can never hurt.
But once again, I'm not a lawyer nor a law professional and you should always do your own research.

Five pick ups and one drop off (Pick up 4)
Tumblr media
Pick up 1 | Pick up 2 | Pick up 3 | Pick up 4
Scott is tired and a little pissed off, so watch for language. Again, kinda crack just for fun.
I hope you enjoy.
-o-o-o-
Scott Tracy needed to re-apply his deodorant.
He was beginning to get a bit whiffy. But that’s what happens went you cut halfway across the planet after pulling a dozen people out from under a building in Taiwan.
As it was, he’d had to leave Virgil to liaise with local services to make it in time.
Thunderbird One wasn’t known for her shower facilities, but he had foreseen that in the past and his office in New York was set up with all the amenities including a spare business suit or two.
But that was a good five hours ago. If there was one advantage of crossing the dateline, it was the preservation of sunlight. He had the great pleasure of living the same day over again. With less concrete dust.
But more numbers and more annoying people.
One thing about rescue sites, bar the occasional asshole, was that the people there were usually very, very happy to see Scott and his brothers.
Here in the board room he received the distinct impression that at least several of the members would be much happier with his absence so they could do exactly what they wanted.
Which was what had been happening and why he was here.
“Sir, why the higher expenditure? Their employees are not our responsibility.”
Scott grit his teeth and his blood pressure sung in his ears. “We are saving the company and its employees. I believe with the correct financial support, they can become a solid division of Tracy Industries. We are not in the business of destroying lives.”
“This is not a rescue site, Tracy, this is business!”
Scott straightened from where he had been bent over the conference table, glaring at Martin at the far end, and pulled himself up to his full height before turning to glare at Landers on his left. “Not the way we conduct it.” His tone turned acid. “Do you think caring makes us soft, Landers?”
“Yes, it does. You are destroying our profit margin.”
Scott could not give a fuck about this particular profit margin. They were absorbing a large manufacturing business with its heart in country USA. If they didn’t handle the situation carefully, a good hundred thousand employees looked to lose lifetime jobs. The impact on the people and society would be massive. Not to mention a foolish move as TI’s most important asset was its talent. And there was good talent out there. The business had been struggling, but only to out compete TI, which it could no longer.
Its product was excellent. Brains and Virgil had done an assessment and agreed that the teams had potential. All they needed to do was absorb them into TI and then manage them into a better working culture in order to support that talent.
But it was obvious certain members of the board did not see things the same way as the Tracy brothers. Yes, the profit margin would suffer, may even go into cost in the short term, but it was the long term Scott Tracy was interested in and not lining his pockets at the cost of other people’s lives.
Tracy Industries was big and stable enough to take a hit for the common good.
“Landers…” Scott really wished his head wasn’t hurting so much. “…just go.”
“What? Go where?”
“Out.” Scott waved an irritated hand at the door. “Get out!”
“You can’t-“
“GO!”
The whole room jumped.
Landers glared everything at Scott, swore under his breath, and made a scene of gathering his tablet and collection of paraphernalia off the table and stomping towards the exit.
The moment he left, murmured protests rumbled around the room.
Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Carly, his EA, talking into her headset. A moment later Jeremy, his personal security guard, stepped into the room and took up a position quite casually just inside the door.
Great.
Not the best politic move, Tracy. But Landers was a dick and he had had it coming for a long time.
Scott had just needed to be irritated enough to follow through.
He leant over the table again. “Do we have any further objections?”
Martin at the far end was noting furiously on his tablet. Yeah, more trouble would come from that direction.
Scott sighed. He really wasn’t at his best. He needed sleep. The Virgil at the back of his head was jumping up and down on his neurons demanding he stop growling at staff and come home.
There was a knock at the door and that same brother, still dressed in his IR uniform, stuck his head through. “Hey, excuse me, I need to borrow the President for a moment.”
The room was still rumbling and didn’t really respond. Scott strode over to his brother. “What is it?”
“Come out here for a sec.”
“I can’t leave right now.”
“Yes, you can.” A heavy lifting arm reached in and yanked him out into the hall.
“Virgil, what the hell?”
But his brother was busy staring at him, dark eyes assessing him as if he was capable of medically scanning him with the melanin in his eyeballs. “You’re coming with me.” And before Scott could react - a definite sign of exhaustion if there was one - Virgil lifted him in one quick move and threw him over his shoulder.
“Virgil, what the fuck?!” He struggled, but Virgil was known for his iron grip and even in Scott’s worst moments, he couldn’t hurt his brother.
“We are going home.”
“It’s an important meeting!” The view of the floor and his brother’s butt was infuriating.
“I know. Which is why we let you go initially. However, that was hours ago, and before you disassemble the board one by one, we are intervening.”
“We?”
“Hi, Scott.”
He cranked his head up just in time to see John walk past in a crisp turquoise-grey suit. “What? John? Virgil, put me down!”
“Nope.” They entered an elevator…going up, no doubt to the roof.
“Virgil, please. John will eviscerate them.”
“Yep.” They stepped out into sunlight.
“Aww, c’mon. They’re scared of him.”
“Yep.” A big green shadow loomed over them and Virgil stepped onto her elevator, giving Scott a fantastic view of checkerplate and nothing else. “It will do them good.”
“Virg-“
“Nope. Bed.”
“Please?”
His brother kicked the wall of the cockpit and folded down one of the stretchers. He rolled Scott gently off his shoulder, carefully catching his head and neck and let him sink into the soft medical support.
Every muscle cheered in gratitude.
“Virg…” God, he was tired.
His brother responded by brushing a hair out of his eyes, his gloved hand pushing Scott’s mess of hair back from his forehead. Kind eyes looked down at him. “You need rest, big brother.”
Sure fingers darted over his body, doing up safety straps and securing him in place, and for some reason Scott did not have the energy to protest.
He fell asleep halfway across the Pacific lulled to rest by the comforting roar of his brother’s ‘bird.

Train fact: the longest* train ever
like all things to do with railways, you can get pretty granular and pedantic with this one, so this is likely to also be the longest post ever. Sorry, but actual facts (and pretty pictures) under the cut!
The longest passenger train in regular service is Australia's 'Ghan, a luxury tourist train that runs between Adelaide and Darwin, and averages 774 m/2,539ft in length. that's twice as long as the Empire State building is tall.
Tumblr media
(id in alt)
The reason I say "in regular service" is because the longest passenger train EVER was run by the Rhaetian Railway in Switzerland, to celebrate 175 years of Swiss railways, and that was more than twice that long at 1,910m/6266.4ft. Almost an entire Kentucky Derby worth of train! It had to go incredibly slowly, maxing out at 35km/h, to avoid overloading the electric systems of the railway and local power grids.
youtube
[Video desc: a youtube video from CBS news of the recordbreaking passenger train. The train is made up of several red electric trains coupled together, and moves through alpine landscapes of mountainds and coniferous forest. It is so long that it is visible only in coils, like a snake. Some shots show the train leaving one tunnel while entering another, or driving under a viaduct while the tail end crosses it, and several shots show people watching and taking photographs.]
But, the thing with passenger trains is that they have a lot of rules and regulations applied to them that freight doesn't have to follow. So freight trains get HYUGE.
The average American freight train (I consider the USA to be freight trains' natural habitat because there is a whole bunch of wide open space for for them to crawl around) is 5400 feet long, and the standard in Europe is around 3000ft. That's a 10-20 minute walk at average adult walking speed, just to go from end to end. You know when you stop at a level crossing, and a train goes by, and it seems like it's going by forever? That was probably one of these.
But the average frieght train is peanuts to mining trains. Trains came from the mines, and they still dominate there. The biggest trains in the world are consists of ore and coal, run by tiny crews from extraction point to export. This has always been true.
For example, the Datong–Qinhuangdao railway in China runs coal trains daily that are 2.614 km/8576 ft long. That's more than 1.5 miles, or three times as long as the burj khalifa is tall. And that's the standard for that line.
Tumblr media
(id in alt)
But that doesn't break any records.
The longest production train, running regularly, is the Sishen–Saldanha railway line's maganese/iron ore train. These trains are four kilometers long. 4,000 meters, almost half the height of the highest peak on earth, in wagons full of metals. Too long to be seen in a single photograph- the one below was stitched together from four separate pictures, taken from the air:
Tumblr media
(id in alt)
and that's still not the record!
The record for longest frieght train is held by BHP, an Australian mining company. It was made for the record, but the capacity is still there. This train ran on june 21st 2011, and was 682 wagons long, over seven kilometers. Almost twice the length of the Sishen–Saldanha's, and a quarter the height of Olympus mons. If you stood this train on its end, it would be taller than Mt Denali. If you started at the front of the lead locomotive, and ran as fast as you physically could, you wouldn't reach the last wagon for an hour.
There are entire branch lines shorter than this train.
Unfortunately, there are no good photos, because nobody in space had time for railfanning that day, but there are plenty of pictures of other BHP trains!

So I think many people are not aware about the current state of Julien Assange, the founder of Wikileaks since he‘s not getting a lot of media attention any more and the news cycle has long moved on.
Around 2 years ago the British courts already ruled that hell be extradited into the Usa where he will spend the rest of his life in jail under according to amnesty International: „a real risk of serious human rights violations including possible detention conditions that would amount to torture and other ill-treatment“. In the Usa he will face charges for his Journalistic practices such as leaking footage of Us soldiers committing war crimes.
Right now he‘s being held in Belmarsh high security prison in the east of London, England. He has been there since two years ago and is currently being held in solitary confinement. While the courts in the Uk already ruled about his extardidment to the Usa two years ago he is right at the moment in the process of making his last appeal. if it fails which it mostly likely will his last chance would be an appeal to the Un human rights comitee. The last appeal in front of the court in the Uk will be held on the 16th and 17th of February.
He is being charged for „being a risk to the national security of the United States of America“ under the 1917 Espionage act which was put in place during the Usa‘s Involvement in the first world war to fight german spy’s in Us Institutions and should have been abolished after the end of it. Instead it stayed in place up until today conveniently giving the Us-Government a reason to jail some of their stongest critics.
You just have to really think about the Implications that this whole case carries with it, if the Us Government can classify every document they don‘t want the public to know about because it would Inform them about their atrocities and crooked doings and everyone leaking them can get charged how can you still talk about a functioning Democracy? Not that I think that any representative democracy especially not the one in the Usa represents the true will of the people. But even taken this aside the rational of a democracy must be that information is somewhat available for voters to base their decision on. The thing is the Us-Government knows and this includes both parties that all of their little war adventures in the middle east and the all civilian casualties, displaced people and other atrocities commited would, even under the most ignorant Americans, raise some eyebrows. THEY FEAR THE TRUTH
And I think all of this is not only typical for the Us but for basically every liberal democracy. Nominally there is a right to free speech for everyone up until the point that you pose a real thread to the Government. And no, the constitution will not defend you because guess what even if there are no convenient laws like the Us espionage act that help to prosecute you, there are all sorts of secret services that don’t give a fuck about the constitution and their only purpose is to do what ever is best for the nation-state they are serving weather that is overthrowing government’s, bribing a court or assasinations doesn’t matter. And if the Usa can keep on silencing its sharpest critics without international condemnation or condemnation by their citizens, other western countries will follow this example and be more confident to prosecute their own critics openly, I do believe this is somewhat of a slippery slope.
There will be some last big demonstrations on the 20th and 21st of February outside of the royal court where the hearings will take place. Demonstrations starting as early as 8:30(GMT) so if you live in the area consider going. And even if you don’t live near london you can still get active, share Information, talk to friends and family, make solidarity graffitis, write an article for a local newspaper or zine, attend solidarity demonstrations or if there are none in your area organize one yourself. Anything really just don‘t look away
Please Reblog and share not only this post but all posts aiming to raise awareness about this topic.
This struggle is not merely about Julien Assange it‘s about press freedom as a whole. And not just in the Us but everywhere, so go and fight for free speech while you still can

LA mobile home park fire victims face uncertain future

The Palisades Fire that ignited in January and killed 12 people engulfed several luxury homes, beachfront properties and celebrity mansions. But it also razed the homes of those living in more affordable communities, including two mobile home parks.
For those residents, the long road to recovery includes even more uncertainties and barriers, writes CalMatters’ Felicia Mello.
The Pacific Palisades Bowl Mobile Estates and Tahitian Terrace together housed hundreds of retirees and other long-time residents. Some residents who moved in decades prior paid just $600 a month for rent-controlled lots.
But that all changed on Jan. 7, and the limitations of state and local rules ensuring affordable housing in Los Angeles are becoming clearer. For instance, under California law, mobile home park owners who rebuild after a natural disaster must allow tenants to return — but they can also increase rents to cover rebuilding costs.
For Colby Biggs, the co-owner of the 150-unit Palisades Bowl, being unable to recover costs could mean foregoing rebuilding the grounds altogether.
Biggs: “If we have to go invest $100 million to rebuild the park and we’re not able to recoup that in some fashion, then it’s not likely we will rebuild the park. … We’re not evicting anybody. But if the park’s not rebuilt, then obviously the residents wouldn’t have the right to reoccupy the park.”
Biggs said it could be “a different story” if he can secure state or federal funding. But that’s a big question too: Gov. Gavin Newsom flew to Washington D.C. last week to lobby for disaster aid, following President Donald Trump’s repeated threats to withhold aid to California if the state didn’t change its water or voting policies. Trump has also floated the idea of “getting rid” of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, adding another wrinkle to recovery efforts.

Rainfall could cause deadly debris flow

The other devastating Southern California January fire, the Eaton Fire, is also completely contained — but its potential to cause deadly debris flow has experts on high alert, report CalMatters’ Julie Cart and Alastair Bland.
The U.S. National Forest Service on Tuesday released a damage assessment report that found that the “probabilities of hyper-concentrated flows and/or debris flows are high to very high” in the Eaton Fire burn area.
Heavy rainfall expected on Thursday and Friday could increase the chances of mud, boulders and debris rushing toward the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains — endangering the nearly 170,000 people living in Altadena, Pasadena and other nearby communities.
For fire-scarred parts of these mountains, there is no more vegetation to stabilize the earth. The soil, now coated with ash, repels water, and can roll off easily down hillsides instead of soaking back into the ground. Together with other sediment, they form debris flows, which can travel as fast as 40 miles an hour.
In addition to crushing bridges, buildings and vehicles in their paths, the flows can claim lives: The subsequent debris flow of 2017’s Thomas Fire killed 23 people in Montecito.

Insurance costs grow in wake of fires

To keep itself solvent, the state-run fire insurance plan of last resort is turning to private insurers — and, in turn, their customers — for a bailout.
As CalMatters’ Levi Sumagaysay explains, the California FAIR Plan offers customers limited coverage when no private company will cover them. Severe wildfire seasons in the past few years have driven up the number of FAIR Plan customers to more than 451,000, as more insurance companies stopped writing or renewing policies in the state.
The FAIR Plan has predicted it will run out of money by March, so on Tuesday the state Insurance Department approved its request to impose a $1 billion charge on private insurance companies to cover claims from the L.A.-area fires. Most California home and fire insurance customers will likely see temporary fees added to their insurance bills.
Meanwhile, the consumer advocacy group Consumer Watchdog is considering suing over the new charges customers will pay.

And lastly: CA’s ex-firefighter, GOP lawmaker

State Sen. Kelly Seyarto spent 35 years fighting fires in Southern California, and is one of the few career firefighters to have served in the Legislature. But despite his expertise, Seyarto said being a Republican excluded him from discussions on the special session bills related to the L.A. fires. Find out more about the Murrieta lawmaker from CalMatters’ Sameea Kamal.

Mundane AU!Laios thoughts
Note:
Probably contains spoilers
Mundane au= no magic and no fantasy 'races' (like... little people are a thing, they exist in reality, some people just have dwarfism. The elves are just skinny racist and xenophobic Europeans like? And there's already parralells made with the demi humans so if I do anything the orcs are Afro Native and Kobolds are somewhere African or Arab. And for the ogres... gigantism is a thing that exists in real like and totally a teen girl would just wear some horns.)
Thoughts:
The Toudens are European-born. From somewhere cold as hell, really isolated and conservative, that's close to some mountains, that's racist towards the local indigenous people.
(The sibs, but especially Laios got chewed out about some shit and has been trying to be better, slips up every now and then but takes criticism well so long as folks tell him what he did/said wrong).
Local weird kids put off vibes that the rest of the village didn't like, Laios and Falin grew up bullied and ostracized. Falin got sent off to schooling in the big city and later to a university in Italy where she met Marcille.
Laios dropped out of high school and joined the military as soon as he was able to b/c he wanted to get the hell out of dodge. Served for a few shitty years b4 just... deserting and backpacking across Europe just straight up homeless and working whatever odd jobs he could find. Man was going through it. Wound up in the same city where Falin was studying at a university in and decided to visit her. She took one look at him and refused to let him just go back to what he was doing, so Laios started couch surfing with her (very much against dorm rules but he looked terrible and Falin wasn't about to let anyone stop her from making sure her brother has a roof over his head and food).
Eventually, she takes him with her when she does a work-study in the USA for her ecology degree and they ended up staying/Falin kinda maybe sorta dropped out and got a job with a vet near where she was doing her work-study.
Laios and Falin are technically illegal immigrants but they're white so no one really questions their citizenship (their working on getting citizenship/papers)
Laios gets a GED. Does some self-study from Falin's textbooks and online stuff but that's about it for his schooling.
Laios definitely, like, lives in Falin's basement. Falin is the primary breadwinner in this household, Laios is aware of this and has learned to accept it even tho he would like to take care of his baby sister and sometimes feels bad about not being able to. They used to share a room in a cheap apartment but after building up enough savings they managed to buy a suspiciously cheap house in a rural town bordering a reservation and not far from a national park.
Laios still works odd jobs, mostly physical labor and stuff where they won't ask for a degree. Has worked retail, where his customer service was trash but he's darn good at just stocking and shelving shit.
Met Chilchuck while working retail, Chilchuck introduced him to the concept of a union which Laios thinks is really neat.
The town where the Touden's moved has a sizable population of people with dwarfism, Chilchuck is a notable member of the little person community in the area. The Touden's go to Chilchuck for help with paperwork (they pay him a small fee) and he doesn't ask too many questions about why they don't have this or that piece of documentation.
Laios enjoys doing citizen science and bird watching. During the tourist season, he runs a small wilderness guide giving campers and hikers tours in the local national park.
There's a hermit that lives in the national park illegally (Senshi) that Laios and Falin made friends with. They love his cooking.
Laios is active in the online furry community. He does commissions, mostly of digital and physical art or people's fursonas and vore stuff. He does great ferals, and decent anthros, but his human art is not good (he's working on it).
Laios is decidedly chubby in this, his weight goes up and down depending on the season and how much physical activity he's doing. But ever since he reunited with Falin, she's been making sure he doesn't skip meals if they can afford to eat. And ever since he met Senshi he's gotten heftier since he loves that man's cooking.
