Five Nights at Freddy's: Urgent Hires (Chapter 1/?)

🍕🐻—————🍕🐻 He slams their front door closed with his foot, carrying what seems to be Robin’s entire bookshelf in one cardboard box. When he crosses the threshold to their living room, she’s sitting on the couch, flipping through the newspaper. If this wasn’t the last of their crap, he’d probably say something, but…he knows her, she’d purposefully give herself a bruised knee just to get out of the heavy lifting. The box lands with a thud on the carpet—definitely her books.

“Think our neighbors on the right are Mormons,” he says breathlessly, “their smiles don’t reach their eyes.”

Robin licks her index finger, ready to change the page. “Yeah, well, that’s what we get for moving to Utah. Better than the Reagan Jesus freaks back home,” she mutters.

His hands fly to his hips, head cocked in thought. “You think?”

“Mm…on second thought…I don’t”��she gasps, startling him—“oh, Steve, look!”

Rubbing a hand to his racing heart and stepping around the mountain of unpacked boxes, he sleazes to the couch, plopping down unceremoniously. He looks over her shoulder, down to her still wet index finger pointing at something on the page. “What’d you almost give me a heart attack over?”

“There’s a pizza place in town! And they’re hiring!” she crows.

Her pink polish chipped nail glistens as she taps the ad. Steve rears back at what he reads. “120 a week?! That’s less than minimum wage, dude!”

“But they’re urgently hiring! Plus, look, we’d get free dinner. You can’t tell me that pizza for dinner every night doesn’t sound like the best thing ever!”

“Uh, to you maybe, but we need to make a living, Rob.”

The glare he gets could burn him alive.

“Unless you’ve got a magical ‘now hiring’ ad in your back pocket, this is our only option. We got fired from Family Video after Vecna. We’re already bad Indiana reps around here.”

“Why do we have to represent the state of”—

“You’re gonna drive us over to the restaurant tomorrow and we’ll fill out applications in person. Maybe if they see us eager to apply, we’ll get the jobs right from under the other applicants’ feet.”

Steve rolls his eyes. “Are you even gonna survive a midnight shift?”

“I’ll have a Pepsi. That’ll take the edge off.”

He sighs, knowing he’d do anything for this girl. But he scowls for his own benefit. “Fine,” Steve finally says, “but you’re not allowed to complain about how tired you are afterwards.”

She sticks out her hand, forcing him to shake on it. “Deal.”

——— There’s nobody eating at the restaurant when they go in. When he checks his watch, 12:35pm, it’s with the thought that it should be the rush hour. Nobody greets them at the customer service counter. And the corners of the walls are white with cobwebs. It looks like nobody’s been here in a decade.

Well, considering the paper ad read the words, “Not responsible for injury/dismemberment,” it really doesn’t bode well the success inside the establishment. Maybe he should’ve egged Robin into going to their local library and looking into some archives. Considering their history, they should’ve looked into the suspiciously urgent need the restaurant had. It’s possible they’re up against another Vecna thing.

Though, maybe he’s just being paranoid.

Could a family restaurant be as evil as that whole mess?

He tugs on Robin’s elbow, shooting her a quick glance. “Should we just…look around? See if somebody’s working the diner floor?”

“I don’t know…I called them before coming in. They should’ve been expecting us.”

“Maybe they’re attending to a lunch full of mimes? They’re quiet, yeah?”

“Steve, you know that sounds ridiculous, right?”

Nodding, he pulls away. “Yeah, I figured that the moment it left my mouth. But…c’mon, we should really find somebody. A manager or something.” He’s already stepping away from her without another word—she better follow.

When he rounds the nauseating checkered black and white corner, he’s face to face with the gaudiest, most unappealing sight. Party hats sit dusty on the surface of every table. Every table cloth spotted with painted on multi-colored confetti. Some miscellaneous posters on the wall, sequined stars dangling from the ceiling, and weird spikey-backed purple chairs. The colors all clash horrendously. There’s a few rundown arcade cabinets. One for something called ‘Princess Quest’, another being ‘Burger Bungle’ , and ‘Techno Warrior’—he recognizes none of them. However, the true attraction of this sad little place is behind him as he turns—

“Oh my fucking god!” he softly exclaims. His eyes widen, feet stumbling as he takes a step back, and a hand flutters out to stop Robin in her place. It’s clear when she’s finally looking, her breath halted in the back of her throat. “Are those…?”

“Animal robots? Yeah…yeah, Steve, I think they are.”

Steve swallows hard. His eyes rake each individual character up and down. There’s a brown bear—Freddy from the newspaper—he’s wearing a top hat, black bowtie, and holding a microphone, sporting a soft fuzzy belly plus two too big hands. A bunny with tall purple ears and a red bowtie, holding a matching red electric guitar, no eyebrows and big eyes. And a yellow thing, a bib that reads ‘Let’s Eat!!!’, it’s yellow mitt holding a smaller robot character, some pink frosted cupcake with unblinking, soulless eyes. He shudders. “Why are they so tall? And…and that yellow one is definitely looking at me, right?”

“Are these the…the animatronic characters they were talking about in the newspaper? I only recognize the bear.”

“You’d know better than me, Robs!”

Her hair swishes around, smacking him in the face as she shakes her head insistently. “I wish I didn’t.”

With no warning, something smacks the back of Steve’s left shoulder. He jumps, twirls around, fists guarding his face on the defense.

He lowers his hands immediately, however, when he’s met face to face with a tired looking teenager. A scruffy untamed goatee, acne up the wazoo, and a rumpled purple polo tucked into his pants. The kid looks bored as ever, his eyes tired and lips thin in a frown. His skin’s a sickly grey, though. Like he could use some sunlight. The name tag attached crooked to his shirt reads, Gabe.

“Welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” Gabe drones, “you must be the applicants.”

Robin takes a step behind Steve, her hand placed gently on the small of his back as if to calm him. He notices there’s a legion of goosebumps on his arms, so he leans into her touch. “Um, yeah, yeah we are. Steven Harrington and Robin Buckley? I called the restaurant beforehand.” She has an air of professionalism to her that wasn’t there before. A complete tonal shift covering her previously timid shaking voice like oil on water. “We noticed there was nobody up front, so we thought we’d, uh, try and find somebody.”

Gabe hums, something deeply disinterested. He doesn’t want to be here either. “Yeah, we tried calling you guys with the number you provided, service error. You both got the job, though. Night security guard. First ones that applied.”

“Seriously? Didn’t think you guys were that desperate,” Steve mumbles.

He earns a swat to the center of his back, nearly stumbling with the impact.

“Don’t listen to him,” Robin states—she’d probably be glaring at him if it were appropriate right now. “We don’t have a phone in our new place yet, had to compromise with a payphone down the street. Sorry about that. When do we start?”

“Tomorrow night,” Gabe replies. “Just come in fifteen minutes to your shift. Play the training tapes in your office, each of ‘em give you the whole run down on this place. We’ve never had two people on duty before, but it’s probably for the best. Place gets kind of…riled up at night. So.” Steve and Robin simultaneously hum in understanding. The unison goes unnoticed. “I’ll send you off with your uniforms and the spare keys. When your shift ends tomorrow night, somebody will meet you outside the restaurant, just give the keys to them. End of your first week is Friday, the 12th. We’ve got a different guy who comes in on the weekends, but uh, we haven’t been able to reach him.”

“You…couldn’t reach him?” Steve asks.

“Didn’t leave the restaurant last night. Tried calling him, no response. Boss thinks he left through the fire exit, probably slumming around somewhere.”

He looks over his shoulder at the robots. The yellow one is still looking at him almost knowingly. It makes him shiver.

“And nobody’s concerned?” Robin then pipes up.

Gabe shrugs in Steve’s peripheral. “Why should we? Honestly, nobody lasts longer than a week here on the night shift. Sometimes people no-show. Sometimes people dodge our boss’s calls. It’s whatever.”

Whatever, Steve can’t help but bitterly echo in his head. Robin must be able to hear his brain or something, she shoots him a quick glance as if thinking the same thing. If somebody went missing in Hawkins, everybody would be concerned. While Gabe’s turned around, starting towards the employee only room off the stage, Robin mouths ‘Barb’ at him.

He shivers again.

“So what are these robots names?” Robin calls out.

Muffled in the employee room, Gabe shouts back, “Freddy Fazbear, the main attraction! There’s Bonnie the Bunny, master on guitar. And Chica the Chicken.”

Steve leans into Robin’s side, muttering under his breath, “Chicken? She looks like a duck. How’re you gonna have animals as your family restaurant’s mascots and not know what one of them is?”

Nodding, she matches his volume, “Maybe she’s a chick? They’re yellow.”

“Hm. Maybe. Her eyes…they kinda look aged, don’t you think? Like something’s…trapped behind them.”

“I think you’re just paranoid, Steve.”

“Maybe I’m right”—

He’s cut-off by Gabe thrusting their uniforms towards them. Purple shirts and yellow badges. It’s gonna be a bitch finding sneakers to match this. “We’ve got one more animatronic,” Gabe says offhandedly, throwing a thumb over his shoulder, “he’s the one in Pirate’s Cove, behind the purple starry curtains. His name’s Foxy. He’s a, uh, pirate fox. Eyepatch and everything.”

His gaze follows to where Gabe is loosely pointing, a curtained single stage in the corner of the dining room. There’s a wooden sign in front of it, black text reading, ‘Out of Order’. In the gap of the curtain, just barely, he can make out the silver shine of a pirate’s hook. The fox has yellow eyes, a single one gleaming in the sliver of light.

Yuck.

“Used to be a fan favorite with the kids,” Gabe continues, “he’s kinda…off, though. Twitches and breaks down too often. Shouldn’t be much of a problem, though.”

“Problem?” they ask in unison.

“Yeah, no issues with him while you’re working. Guy’s in deactivation mode. Won’t move a muscle.”

“Good…that’s…that’s good, right?” Robin says nervously, shooting another glance at Steve. He just nods at her.

“Right. Now!” Gabe claps his hands together, startling them again. “I’ve got some important maintenance work to get done. And since you two are not our maintenance guys, I’m gonna have to shoo you out. Boss gave me the orders. Nobody else allowed backstage.”

Before they can get another word in, they’re being ushered out the front doors. The lock is loud between the restaurant and the outside world. Open sign switched to closed. There’s one last bored look from Gabe, and then he turns around, retreating to the shadows from which he came.

“Robin,” Steve hedges, “what the hell have you gotten us into?”

Aiming for levity, she puts her hands in the air and tries, “Free pizza and drinks?”

“And nightmares, too!”

“Yeah,” she murmurs, looking up at the Freddy mascot on the restaurant’s sign, “and nightmares.”

Even through the wall, he swears that Chica character is still staring at him. Those wide, aged, pink eyes blazing through him. Eugh.

On a sweltering summer day in Madison, Wisconsin, Jade Kochanski wades through a prairie bursting with wildflowers. Insect net in hand, she carefully scans the colorful blossoms. She’s on a mission to capture and identify the bumblebees that live there. If she’s lucky, she’ll discover a rare find—an endangered rusty patched bumblebee, named for the red-brown smudge that workers and males of the species sport on their backs.

Kochanski, a PhD student in integrative biology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, meticulously measures the bumblebees she captures and snips off a tiny piece of leg, a common, non-lethal way to obtain genetic material from these creatures. Each sample she collects from rusty patched bumblebees is destined for a lab in Utah to help researchers uncover the genetic secrets critical to the bee’s survival. DNA analysis will help scientists estimate the number of colonies, identify patterns of inbreeding within those colonies, and understand overall genetic diversity and health of the rusty patched bumblebee populations.

Once common across the eastern United States and Canada, rusty patched bumblebee (Bombus affinis) populations have plummeted by nearly 90 percent over two decades due to habitat loss, pesticide use, pathogens and climate change, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Now, they are found in only a fraction of their former range, with scattered populations in the Upper Midwest and Northeast United States. In 2017, the rusty patch became the first bumblebee to be listed as endangered in the United States.

In response to listing, Kochanski joined a network of scientists who began collecting tissue samples from rusty patched bumblebees across its range. The initiative started in 2020 when Tamara Smith, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s lead biologist for the rusty patched bumblebee, organized a meeting with bumblebee researchers in Minnesota. Their goal: to identify conservation tools that could help save the species. “Genetics was the No. 1 question that came out of that [meeting],” says Smith. “We needed to get a handle on what was going on with this species if we wanted to move forward with some of the other tools that would help with conservation.”

Their research was published this past spring in the Journal of Insect Science and provides the first range-wide genetic study on the species. The findings offer key insights that can aid conservation of the species, but also raise questions and concerns about the ability of the species to recover. “Genetically, they’re not doing as well as we had hoped,” says Smith.

The study revealed a surprisingly low number of rusty patched bumblebee colonies, even in places where the bee seems prevalent. “We’ve seen the Upper Midwest as the stronghold of the species,” says John Mola, an ecologist at Colorado State University and lead study author, “but what we’ve seen from the genetic data is that even within these strongholds for the species, they are still far fewer colonies than we might have expected.”

Since only queens produce offspring, bumblebee populations are measured by colonies, not individuals. Each spring, queen bumblebees emerge from hibernation to create nests where they produce non-reproductive female workers that forage, nurse larvae and defend the nest. Later in the summer, queens switch to producing reproductive individuals, including males and new queens, which will form their own colonies the following year. Each colony can contain over 100 individuals. Thus, even if several worker bees are seen in an area, they could all come from just one or two large colonies.

According to the study, having few colonies poses significant risks, including making them vulnerable to local extinction from unpredictable events like fires on the prairies where they live. In light of the study, land managers will need to be more strategic with using prescribed burns for managing prairies within the bee’s range. To assist these efforts, as part of her dissertation, Kochanski is developing burn recommendations that balance the need for prairie maintenance with protecting bumblebees.

I'd love to hear more about the wild west au because Ratchet helplessly in love with Ironhide, thinking he has no chance at all, only for Hide to come back and profess his love verbally and physically ? Your ingenuity knows no bounds

I may have posted some ideas about the old west au a bit ago, but I don't think I ever tagged them properly. It's not very developed, and is separate from the retired trio au. This au is strictly IronRatch.

Backgrounds: Ratchet is a doctor from back east (the NYC tri-state region). He is getting older and seeing less patients. The medical schools are churning out new doctors faster than ever, and the competition for patients is fierce.

Ratchet receives a letter from his old mentor Que who now lives out west (think Nevada/Utah region). Que is looking to retire and invites Ratchet to inherit his clinic. He had plenty of patients now due to the local mining industry. So Ratchet closes up shop and moves out west.

Ironhide is a former soldier who became disillusioned with the cause. His last act before abandoning the service was to protect the innocent settlement that his column was about to attack. He fired on them, killing some of his former colleagues. This cemented him as a traitor. Ironhide has had to move from location to location, always running due to the bounty on his head.

One day Ironhide doesn't get out of town as quickly as he should have. He takes off on horseback and leads his assailants on a chase that lasts for several days. He hides in the bushes along the way, knowing that his attackers are near. He doesn't sleep. So it comes to the end of the chase as Ironhide is nearing a medium-sized city. He thinks he may be able to lose them. But he's exhausted and moving slow. His horse is exhausted. He eventually finds himself about a mile outside town and surrounded. He is gunned down by six attackers. His former colleagues. Ironhide lays in the dirt, bleeding from multiple wounds. His horse has run away, unharmed, but scared by the attack.

Ratchet receives word of a man found outside the city, badly injured and on death's doorstep. He rushes out and treats the man as best he can where he lay. Then he loads the man onto a cart and has him transported back to the clinic. All the while Ironhide is slipping in and out of consciousness, barely able to make out the shape of the man healing him, but thinking he's died and being handled by an angel.

Ironhide recovers gradually and reveals his situation to Ratchet. The doctor allows Ironhide to reside at his clinic in a spare room with a small bed, but it's the best thing Ironhide has had in months. Ratchet doesn't worry about future attacks on Ironhide's life. They believe Ironhide is dead. To earn his keep, Ironhide volunteers to take care of the clinics everyday needs, cleaning, running errands, picking things up at the store for Ratchet. Even cooking, which he's very good at and Ironhides meals are the best thing at the end of a long day.

Months go by and they grow closer, even Que makes comments on how close the two seem. He sees how they look at each other and even tells Ratchet he should make his move, that Ironhide wants him just as bad. But Ratchet refuses to believe Que. Ironhide is handsome, a tank of a man, a damn stallion and he wouldn't want some mediocre medic dragging him down.

One quiet night, Ironhide is more restless than usual. He remarks to Ratchet that he could "use some action" and that he's craving a "beautiful blonde for the night". Ratchet reads the situation all wrong, not realizing Ironhide is addressing him. Also Ironhide is kinda terrible at flirting.

This cements in Ratchet's head that Ironhide doesn't want him. So Ratchet suggests they head to the saloon for a drink and meal. The place doubles as a brothel, so he thinks they can find a good match for Ironhide.

Towards the end of their meal, one of the soiled doves comes over and starts hitting up Ironhide. She is flirting him up good. That's when Ratchet abruptly gets up, surprising Ironhide. He says he's heading home early and the door will be open for Ironhide once he's had his fun.

At home (which is above the clinic), Ratchet crawls into bed. His throat and eyes burn. He wants to cry. Ironhide could never be his. But he stuffs it down and picks up a book to distract himself.

He's surprised when the door creaks open not long after and there's a knock at his bedroom door, followed by Ironhide's voice. He allows the warrior to enter, and Ironhide takes a seat on the edge of the bed. Ratchet questions what happened, and Ironhide says he turned her down. He wanted to make sure the doctor was okay. Ratchet guffaws, asking how he could turn down someone so beautiful, to which Ironhide replies that there was a more beautiful individual waiting for him at home. Cue the confession, the shock and disbelief and elation from Ratchet. Ironhide climbs onto the bed, straddling Ratchets hips, handling Ratchet with a tenderness the doctor didn't know the other possessed.

He's not sleeping alone tonight. Or any night thereafter.

Place a clean piece of paper between book covers to prevent them from sticking together. - Firmly seal boxes and cartons. - Don't use boxes without tops as this makes stacking them more difficult. - Vacuum-seal fluffy clothes, blankets, and pillows.

Electronics Take a photo of how your electronics are connected so you can remember how and where all the wires go. - Use masking tape to label cables and keep them coiled. - Use the original packaging whenever possible for electronics.

Packing: Day of Move Keep important papers with you such as birth certificates, social security cards, etc. - Pack the items you'll need first in a clear plastic bin so they'll be easy to find when you get to your new place. (box cutter, phone chargers, tools, toilet paper, etc.) (Or) write "open first" on boxes containing essentials. - Pack an over-night bag for each person which includes the essentials in case everyone is too tired to unpack upon arrival. - Pack the clothes hanging in your closet by putting them in a drawstring garbage bag. Pull the drawstring tight around the base of the hanger hooks. - Make sure everything is packed before the moving service arrives.

Breakables Plates packed vertically will be less likely to break. - Seal toiletry bottles (soap, perfume, oil, etc) by unscrewing the bottle top, placing plastic wrap over the opening, and screwing the bottle top back on. - Place cotton balls or pads into powder cosmetics to keep the powder from breaking. - Pack your glasses and stemware in clean socks for extra padding. - Wrap breakable items in clothing and blankets to save on packaging supplies. - Use plastic grocery bags to cushion breakable items. - Use blankets to protect large pictures and mirrors. - Fill boxes completely to prevent items from being jostled around and possibly breaking.

OneNETnews Investigates: The West Coast Outbreak of 'E.coli' linked to the American fast food chain burger menu in Colorado, leaving 1 dead

DENVER, COLORADO -- An E. coli outbreak had badly linked to the McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers with several states affected, and Colorado being the most significantly impacted, as reported from late September to mid-October 2024.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 49 people have been reported ill in 10 western states, with a total of 26 local cases in Colorado. Death of one (1), and a number of hospitalizations, including severe kidney damage from a concerned child patient are some of the consequences of this type of outbreak.

In response to the outbreak, McDonald's has temporarily pulled the Quarter Pounder off the menu in affected states, including this said state of Colorado, Kansas, Utah and Wyoming, among other parts of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

In a pre-recorded video message to local media reporters… 'Mr. Joseph M. Erlinger', who is a President of McDonald's USA spoke to the public, letting American customers know that menu items, including the recently introduced 'Chicken Big Mac' featuring New York streamer 'Kai Carlo Cenat' are still on the table. And that, the global franchise in the country -- such as the Philippines had been dodged the bullet and not being impacted. Erlinger said that the corporate fast food giant is 'committed to safe food and swiftly fast-moving by protecting the health of the public'.

For those people don't know, a scientific name 'Escherichia coli' is the bacteria generally common in the intestines of animals and humans. Most of the strains are innocuous, but some, for example, E. coli O157:H7, may sometimes lead to serious gastrointestinal symptoms, such as stomach cramps, forbidden dark strawberry diarrhea, and vomiting. The diseases can be transmitted down by contaminated food or water, and the outbreaks are typically associated with improper sanitary practices between the workers and employees themselves. It's like spoiling food that you eat, above the expiration date after consuming it the wrong way.

Preliminary CDC findings indicate that the outbreak may link back to slivering onions that a single supplier distributes to 3 distribution centers. 'Slow-Moving Disaster': Midwest Rivers Flood; Rapidan Dam Threatened

A Minnesota dam partially failed, an Iowa levee breached, interstates shut down, and multiple rivers overflowed their banks on Tuesday after a deluge of rain hit the nation's northern tier, delivering more than a month's worth of rainfall in just a few days, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota, warning that rivers would continue to crest through Wednesday. Showers, storms, and locally heavy rainfall were possible and could "quickly become severe," with hail up to 2 inches in diameter and wind gusts up to 70 mph.

In Minnesota, the Rapidan Dam near Mankato experienced a "partial failure" late Monday. However, the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office stated that the dam remained intact, and there were no current plans for a mass evacuation. A portion of the Blue Earth River flow has diverted around the west side of the dam, and water continues to flow.

Alex Sosnowski, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, suggests that the fate of the dam could hinge on the unpredictable nature of the weather pattern. Over the next few days, more rounds of severe storms are expected to batter the region, with some areas facing heavy rainfall while others may receive little precipitation. Already, more than a dozen river gauges have shattered all-time records, with some exceeding previous highs by a staggering 7 feet.

"Some of this rainfall and flooding is unprecedented," Sosnowski told USA TODAY. "In just three or four days, some places have received as much as a foot of rain, which is equivalent to two months' worth. Even in drought conditions, such an influx of water would pose significant challenges."

Intense heat is sweeping through parts of the South. The weather service in Memphis predicts heat indices at or above 105 degrees across most of the mid-South.

AccuWeather forecasts temperatures on Wednesday nearing 100 degrees across eastern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, with only slight variations.

The weather pattern in the Midwest bears a striking resemblance to the one that struck parts of Texas and Louisiana in the spring, according to Sosnowski. In Houston, catastrophic flooding and winds reaching up to 100 mph resulted in the deaths of eight people and left nearly 1 million homes and businesses without power, some for several days. Houston was situated on the northern fringe of a heat dome centered over Mexico; similarly, the Upper Midwest of the U.S. now finds itself on the northern edge of a heat dome centered within the U.S. This pattern is expected to persist across the region for the next couple of weeks.

Major flooding is already occurring or imminent in several rivers, including the Big Sioux, Little Sioux, Des Moines, West Fork Des Moines, Vermillion, Cannon, James, Rock, Cedar, and Minnesota, among others. Sosnowski noted that several monitoring stations could potentially record record-high water levels. He also warned that it could take several weeks for the floodwaters to cycle through parts of the Mississippi River basin.

"We could see significant flooding there as well," Sosnowski stated. "River flooding presents a slow-moving disaster."

Disaster Declared in Iowa

Parts of Iowa have received over 15 inches of rainfall, leading to surging water levels and levee failures. In northwest Iowa, rivers have reached unprecedented levels, causing residents in flooded homes to begin cleanup efforts while downstream communities prepare for rising waters. Sections of I-29 and I-680 are being closed by the Iowa Department of Transportation due to high water levels.

The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office shared drone footage on Facebook showing roads, homes, and farms inundated after the Little Sioux River breached a levee on Tuesday. Residents of Smithfield and Rodney have been urged to evacuate. WinnaVegas Casino and Resort near Sloan closed temporarily on Tuesday due to flooding concerns, with plans to reopen when conditions are safe, according to casino officials on social media.

Late Monday, President Joe Biden issued a disaster declaration for Iowa, authorizing federal aid to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in counties affected by severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes over the past week. Assistance may include grants for temporary housing, home repairs, low-cost loans for uninsured property losses, and other programs to aid individuals and businesses in recovering from the disaster.
