Beyond Their Judging Eyes

Diya's nerves were tingling as she stuttered through the words on her picture-dense slides. Sweat beading down her forehead, she could feel everyone's eyes on her, judging her. They all think I'm stupid. Brushing stray hair from her face, she quickly repeated herself and ran out of the monotone oak classroom. Chills from the wind clung to her as she burst into the locker room at full speed.

Huffs of smoke were blown outside the locker room, behind the bushes, as a flash of light blue and black passed Min. She followed her anxious girlfriend into the locker room, reaching out for her wrist but hitting her knuckles on a metal locker. "Fuck! Diya, what happened?" Min winced as she looked up at her (much) taller girlfriend. Diya looked away, tears shimmering in her hazel eyes.

"Um," she let out a breath. "Couldn't take it. Too loud." Her face flushed as she felt small hands, with even tinier fingers, wiping her tears.

"Well, fuck them all. They can fuck the shut up," her girlfriend replied, wrapping her in an embrace. They stayed like that until baseball practice, Chryssa and Liz slowly closing the door. All that mattered was Diya and Min, together.

Also any aborted arcs or just wasted plotline in other media you felt could have been interesting such as Osemanverse?

for example Butterfly soup teased about Min getting expelled and has Noelle wonder how it happened briefly in 1 yet it never gets brought up again and no one knows exactly why she got expelled and how her family reacted

Honestly, I'd never thought about that, but it is interesting to think about. For Butterfly Soup, since Akarsha had the "happiest" home life I was really hoping to see more of her parents, younger brother, and older sister(?). I think Brianna said Akarsha's the middle child, but we never see her older sister. The whole game is slice of life, but I wouldn't mind a filler scene of just Diya getting to relax at Akarsha's house and enjoy a home-cooked dinner with them. Liz is also a trans woman, and I would've liked to see more of her and Chrissa's relationship blossoming and talking about her identity more.

Also, there's this one line in Noelle's chapter in Taiwan where she thinks, "Will I cry when my mother dies someday?", admonishes herself for it and then just... never brings it up again. When in reality that is such a sad and terrible realization for a 15 year old and probably full of implications you should unpack!!! Girl!!!!

I don't have any answers for Osemanverse. I feel like Heartstopper is too early to judge because it's not done yet, and the comics already seem to be building toward Nick and Charlie finally confronting their more unhealthy relationship habits and going long-distance, which is honestly making me nervous! But thank you for asking!

DIYELLE - I kinda ship this one actually, like the diyamin childhood friends thing but in a different direction

DIYAKARSHA - um idk? i guess this could work, but I don’t ship this personally :)

CHRYSSALIZ - cute!!! their kinda the parents of the group and they work well together! I like it 👍
