Wow, now that's a list!
Sorry for replying so late and thank you for the effort of putting this together. We'll screen the celebs on here and check out if there is enough good and inspiring material of them in order to make some captions. Safe to say that we won't get around to include ALL of them, obviously.
Question: What is the turn-on for you guys about dominant celebrity women and their feet? Is it the thought of them "enslaving" you? Or do you just like the look of the celeb-woman and imagine yourself with a "version" of her in your life? :)

Calls for CBS to Release the Kamala Interview Transcript Grow Deafening As Their Reputation Burns
Tumblr media
We’ve seen so much malpractice from the corrupt media, especially since Donald Trump descended that golden escalator in 2015, that it’s hard to be surprised anymore. We’ve seen them bury the Hunter Biden laptop story right before an election, we saw them prattle on for years about a fake Russia Collusion narrative, and witnessed them lie endlessly about Joe Biden’s obvious mental decline.
Still, CBS’ deceptive editing of Kamala Harris’ “60 Minutes” interview marks yet another low. As we reported, they issued two separate clips showing Kamala answering a question from interviewer Bill Whitaker—but her answer is different in each one. Clearly, then, one of those edits is a lie.
Background: Catherine Herridge Spills the Tea on CBS Over Kamala Interview Editing Scandal
'60 Minutes' Has Some Explaining to Do After Eye-Opening Edit Discovered on a Kamala Harris Word Salad
The network, which Dan Rather already humiliated back in 2004 when he accused then-President Bush of illicitly conspiring to avoid the Vietnam War but could only back up his claim with documents that appeared to be obvious forgeries, is taking immense heat from all sides for their duplicitous edits. One common refrain: come clean and release the transcripts.
Bari Weiss, who had stints at both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, blasted the outlet on social media Saturday:
Meanwhile, the news site she founded, The Free Press, unloaded on CBS for the interview and several other recent instances of their journalistic malfeasance:
Those of us who have worked in legacy media organizations have a pretty good idea why the so-called “mainstream press” has lost so much of its credibility. They ignore politically inconvenient stories. They rewrite history to suit the needs of the present. They punish wrongthinkers. And they promote ideology at the expense of reality. But for those who still had any remaining doubt, the news out of CBS this week has gone a long way toward answering that question.
She was far from alone, however. The New York Post wrote a blistering editorial Thursday demanding that CBS make moves to salvage what little it has left of its reputation:
"With even the Harris-Walz campaign disavowing CBS' hack editing job of Bill Whitaker’s interview with the Democratic nominee, the network’s only hope of regaining any credibility is to release the full transcript," the editors wrote. "Given how awful Harris looked even after CBS chose to deceive its viewers, this may well be the last serious interview she does before Election Day: The network has a clear duty to the public to share the whole thing," the New York Post editorial continued.
As we reported, former CBS journalist Catherine Herridge was among those who demanded transparency:
The chorus continued. Former Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines and OutKick contributor Riley Gaines: “If you're someone who doesn't think CBS should release the unedited transcript, then you are the problem.” Former NFL reporter Michele Tafoya: “CBS should release the transcript… admit to the editing… and attempt to rehabilitate itself.”
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham:
Totally agree that Vice President Kamala Harris’ 60 Minutes interview transcript should be released in its entirety. The transcript will speak for itself and there is no reason not to clear the air. The idea that @KamalaHarris’ comments may have been edited in a favorable way needs to be dealt with quickly.
The list goes on and on. Why? Because what we we witnessed is journalistic malfeasance on an epic level. I won’t go so far as to accuse CBS of “rigging” the election because they are not actually interfering in the voting process nor physically meddling in the operations. What they certainly do seem to be guilty of however is trying to influence the election by gaslighting the American public and basically lying to them.
I don’t believe in censorship, so I’m not calling for government action or repression. What I do call for, however, is endless public shaming and for CBS’ feet to be held to the fire by all and sundry. I grew up believing in the power of a free press and the force it can be in furthering freedom and shining the light on truth. While I have been thoroughly disabused of that notion in recent years, I still believe they should have at least one ounce of credibility in this country if we are to survive.
Release the transcripts, you lying liars.

My digital portrait of Linda Cardellini as Judy Hale (Dead to Me)
Been practicing drawing digital portraits and chose Linda Cardellini as Judy Hale in Dead to Me. Saw the Netflix series in September 2019 and enjoyed it a whole lot, then became a Linda fan in early 2020. She has fantastic acting skills. I love how expressive she is when acting, down to the microexpressions, and her range is amazing! 🤩 It was only by then that I realized Linda has been in a lot of movies that I've seen but didn't know it was her. To prove my point, what I've seen: Velma in Scooby-Doo, Chutney (the perm lady) in Legally Blonde, Joan Smith in The Founder, and Laura Barton in Avengers. And some of what others may have seen: Lindsey Weir in Freaks and Geeks, Sam Taggart in ER, Sara Whitaker in Daddy's Home, Sylvia Rosen in Mad Men, and she voiced Wendy Corduroy in Gravity Falls. 😁 Anywho, Dead to Me and Judy Hale has a personal significant meaning for me. ❤ Going into the drawing, I have to say I really learned a lot in doing this portrait. I got stumped a few times, didn't know how to proceed, and thought I bit off more than I can chew. It was really challenging drawing this (precisely why I chose this particular picture to draw in the first place). I kept at it, worked on it several days and nights, and eventually finished it. I saw which parts require a lot of patience and time to do. I'm quite satisfied with this practice, but I have more to learn. When I feel confident enough, I'm likely to accept digital portrait commissions. 😃

♛ → i wanna be a kennedy
Tumblr media
⌠ lili reinhart, 22, genderfluid, she/her ⌡ welcome back to gallagher academy, thursday ‘poppy’ whitaker kennedy! according to their records, they’re a third year, specializing in linguistics, culture, & assimilation + knife fighting skills, sword training, precision shooting, firearms & swat training; and they did go to a spy prep high school. when i see them walking around in the halls, i usually see a flash of ( daddy’s little girl hides her rebellion, a chameleon for any company, not sure what day of the week it is ). when it’s the (sagittarius)’s birthday on 12/13/97, they always request lucky charms from the school’s chefs. looks like they’re well on their way to graduation. ⌿
tw ; eating disorder, death, sexual harassment
♛ → history
everyone has heard of the kennedy’s. however, poppy isn’t from that part of the family. no, she has never personally been a household name, but she has had all of the responsibility of that infamous surname.
born the youngest of three to archie and verity kennedy, poppy grew up with every luxury that could be afforded in her parent’s estate in cambridge, massachusetts. yet she never quite realize how lucky she had it.
her father was a second born son of the famous family, but her mother had been a relative no one from savannah, ga, who worked her way to a teaching position at harvard university. the two fell in love quickly despite the mild disapproval from the rest of the family.
at the age of four, her father decided to enter the world of politics. it wasn’t a shock, of course. it sort of came with the genealogy. it did mean that poppy was expected to become an american sweetheart. asking perfection from a four year old was a bit much.
as she aged, poppy grew to resent the caricature that she’d been painted into. she knew that rebelling publicly would not be tolerated. not to mention, her grandmother was terrified any heathens in their family would fall victim to the family curse.
instead, she became a perfect princess in the public eye, and a bit of a chaotic mess behind closed doors. she doesn’t control her impulses very effectively, and her temper is even worse when she gets provoked.
since she could not control much of the rest of her life, poppy did become very controlling of her eating. she also spent a good deal of time flirting with men who had no business reciprocating it. then the worst happened.
pictures had been taken without knowledge or consent, and it was threatened to be spread around to tabloids. they did not paint poppy in a very good light. think lindsey lohan circa 2009. in a panic, poppy tried to clean up the mess herself. however, it was her family that made all of it go away swiftly.
eventually, her parents found it best to send her away to boarding schools. the first few didn’t work out. poppy insisted they were nightmare academies run by the worst of the worst of prejudiced assholes. her mother finally consented to letting poppy choose her own avenue for education.
that’s how poppy ended up at gallagher. she made the decision for herself to enter the world of espionage. she discovered that she had a knack for it. it was as if all her family had forced on her had made her the perfect candidate.
gallagher has given her a sense of purpose and direction. it’s helped channel some of her more chaotic tendencies, though it has exacerbated others. she debated a few majors, but finally settled on the two that would be most valuable to her unique position when she left the academy.
♛ → personality
poppy is the neapolitan ice cream of people; full of classic flavor, but a blend of opposites. her entire life has been very hot and cold. she’s got a perfect veneer of politician princess in a set of pretty pearls, but underneath it’s a wild streak with quick snap anger. she’s clever and quick on her feet, but often doesn’t attempt to live up to her full potential. poppy can’t stand the idea of being a disappointment to her family. she wants to make them proud more than anything, and simultaneously wants everyone to think she doesn’t care at all. sometimes it feels like she’s tearing apart at the seams and fraying into nothingness. all that being said, she has a great sense of humor across the board, she’s a fiercely loyal friend, and has an insatiable zest for life. everyone knows that if they want someone who is down for an adventure, to call poppy. she’ll be there in a heartbeat, and often with literal ice cream.
♛ → headcanons
nicknames are sort of a ‘thing’ in poppy’s family. she isn’t sure why or how the name poppy came about. it certainly isn’t in reference to any of her other posh names, but she’s been called that by everyone for as long as she can remember.
poppy’s relationship with her parents is tenuous at best, but her relationship with her siblings is as close as possible. her brother is the oldest, and her sister is the middle child. unfortunately, they both had even more responsibilities heaped on them than poppy ever had, but she would be lost without their guidance and love.
the kennedy family has retreats a few times a year in the countryside in massachusetts. that’s where poppy first learned to love weaponry. they would hunt, shoot targets, fence, and get history lessons on their twice great grandfather’s prized collection of rare war memorabilia.
poppy is a self-proclaimed movie expert. while she loves movies, television, and even video games. it’s movies that stole her heart at a young age. old school hollywood makes her eyes dazzle with day dreams.
the summers she spent with her mother’s side of the family in the south were always her favorite. despite it being unbearably hot, there were far less to worry about hidden away from massachusetts. there would even be days when poppy felt completely normal. she craves that feeling, despite suspecting it will be hard to come by even as a spy.

Will Lindsey Graham investigate Trump’s “Bureaucratic Coup”?
☑️ Trump “Individual-1″ Obstruction of Justice #HushMoney
Following the abrupt departure of Attorney General Jeff Sessions in November, Trump reportedly dialed his newly installed acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to ask whether U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman could be placed in charge of the Cohen investigation. The outlet cited several “American officials” with knowledge of the call.
Berman had been chosen by Trump to lead the New York district and seemed a safe choice for the president; he donated $5,400 to the Trump campaign in 2016.
Yet Berman was also recused from the Cohen investigation, as Whitaker reportedly reminded Trump. He had stepped aside months before, prior to the April 2018 FBI raid on Cohen’s home and offices.
Whitaker, “I see that your five minutes is up.”
“The president soon soured on Mr. Whitaker,” the Times reported, stating that
Trump subsequently bashed Whitaker for not being able to “pull levers at the Justice Department that could make the president’s many legal problems go away.” #RiggedInvestigation

Prominent Republicans you should know about
I wanted to put in all the Republicans, although the list got too long. So I’ll put the people who have the three longest bios: John McCain, Ted Cruz, and Jeff Sessions
John McCain (senator from Arizona)
Even though he died in August 2018, I fee I should make him first, being that he has played such a large roll in American politics, even after his death.
McCain was an American hero who fought in Vietnam. Shortly after he was captured, the US was negotiating prisoner swaps. Being that McCain’s father was a Prominent military vet, he was given the chance to leave early. Yet he stayed, saying it wouldn’t be fair to his follow soldiers who were captured along with him. Only after the war ended did he finally get released, along with everyone else. That’s the type of guy he was- never willing to leave people behind for special treatment. After the war, McCain went on the be a senator in Arizona for 30 years, and running for president twice.
Anyway, the first time Trump mentioned was in the summer of 2015, when most people thought he was still a joke candidate. He famously said “I like war vets who weren’t captured” when the topic of McCain was brought up. This of course, was coming from a guy who lied about his medical history to the government so he could dodge the draft.
Even though the two were from the same party, McCain, unlike many other republicans, refused to cave to trump, putting country over party. The most famous example is in July of 2017 when he voted to save Obama care. The Republicans had created the bill in only one month, and now wanted to vote. This was unprecedented, given that a bill this size would take years to review. McCain may not have liked ObamaCare, however, he hated how his party was rushing a bill. After voting against it, he told congress there needed to be “regular order”
Fast forward to August of 2018. It was well known that McCain had been struggling with cancer for a while, and told reporters on August 24 that he would stop treatment. He died the next day.
There was a lot of debate on how to feel about his death. After all, he did vote for the Iraq war and tried to repeal Obama care multiple times, which would have taken away health care from millions of people. Yet even his harshest critics felt sympathy. Unlike so many other politicians, he admitted and apologized for his mistakes. This is in part why his passing shook the nation. He was unique in that you could disagree with him all you wanted, yet at the end of the day, you could still respect him.
Many people consider his death the end of an era. With his passing, so did the last trace of Republican civility and bipartisanship.
Anyway, right up to his death, Trump remained nasty to him. For example, shorty before his death, a White House staffer said “so what if we don’t get McCains vote? He’s going to die anyway”. Rather than firing them, Trump defended the staffer.
At his funeral, he has both Bush and Obama speak, which was powerful considering that they both beat him for the presidency in 2000 and 2008- the only two times he ran. He had a mix of Republicans and Democrats speak, showing a sign of unity even after death.
In the end, McCain got the last word. He literally banned Trump from attending his funeral. Normally, no matter how different their political views were, a president would speak at the funeral of a congressperson. This was his final middle finger to Trump.
Ted Cruz (senator from Texas)
He’s the guy that no one from either party likes, yet puts up with. For example, Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator from South Carolina, said back in 2016 "If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you."
Anyway, Cruz is by far the farthest right ideologically within the Republican party, which is saying something. He ran in the 2016 presidential election, and was one of the last standing against Trump before Trump won enough delegates to take the nomination. Just to note, the whole delegate thing only happens with presidential races, not with the legislative branch elections. (Come back later when you have a moment and watch this video which explains who delegates work.)
The fight between them got really nasty, attacking each others family members, something that used to be of limits prior to 2016. A super PAC in March 2016 that was for Cruz, although not officially part of his campaign, showed a photo of Melania (Trumps wife) in an ad, essentially slut shamming her from once being a nude model. Trump then retaliated, saying on twitter that he would “spill the beans” on Cruz’s wife. Cruz went onto twitter to respond to the issue, saying “Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought.” It didn’t stop with Heidi Cruz, Trump went on to create conspiracy theories, saying that Cruz was the Zodiac killer, and Cruz’z father killed JFK, not Oswald.
Then came the Republican National Convention a few months later in July. Both parties have this convention, where the nominee becomes official. It’s generally about three to four days long, with countless speaks up on stage talking about their personal experience with the candidate. This is also a time in which nominees that lost emphasis that even though it was a tough race, they will support the nominee in attempts to heal and unite the party. When Cruz spoke, he didn’t directly support Trump, rather saying that people need to “vote with their concise.” However, two months later in September, Cruz ended up endorsing Trump. Since Trumps election, Cruz has caved to Trump, showing the world that he would go to any length to protect the party, even putting up with attacks on his family.
Fast forward to the senate elections week. Democratic candidate Beto O'rourke came close to winning, losing by only 219,000 votes. That was actually incredible, considering that Texas was considered such a Republican state that it was hopeless to even try. In a state which over 9 million people voted in, 219,000 votes is relatively small. Even though he lost, he still won in the sense that Republicans had to dump money to save Cruz, taking away money from other Republican candidates.
Jeff Sessions (former senator for Alabama, and former attorney general)
In 2016, Trump picked Jeff Sessions, a senator from Alabama, to be his attorney general. He was US attorney General from January of 2017 when Trump was sworn in, until November 7th 2018, the day after the midterms.)
Some background on this guy. He’s sometimes described as “a racist little elf” since he is an old, racist and short. In fact, a lot of people say he looks like the little elf from Keebler cookies. Anyway, Sessions has a long history of trying to block African Americans from voting, and was accused of making racist comments. He is in favor of harsh drug laws, and is a hardliner on immigration.
Sessions was in charge of the Trump-Russia investigation, that was, until it was discovered that he had a sketchy visit with Kislyak, a prominent Russian official in 2016. During his confirmation hearings, he was asked directly if he knew of anyone meeting with the Russians that was on Trumps team- which he lied and said no. (Lying to the senate is illegal, so if there had been any accountability in Washington, he could have been prosecuted for that. Yet since Washington is such a mess, it’s been long forgotten, and unlikely he will ever face punishment or further questioning.)
Due to this discovery, he had to recuse himself- meaning that he would still be attorney general, however, he just would not be able to have any involvement in the Trump-Russia case. This is what led to the appointment of Robert Muller.
Over the past two years, Trump has humiliated Sessions, calling him names behind his back. Even though democrats didn’t like his political positions, they still wanted him in office. Being that he so strongly aligned with Trump- the only reason he would be fired is if Trump was planning on starting a domino effect, knowing it would end in the Russia investigation.
Normally, Sessions would have power over the Muller investigation. Yet since Muller started after sessions recused himself, he can’t fire him. However- Sessions could, if he wanted to- fire Rod Rosenstein. He is the deputy attorney general, one step bellow Sessions. It is Rosenstein who has the power to stop the investigation which so far he has refused to do, upsetting Trump. See if Sessions were to fire him, Trump can replace Rosenstein with a person who will stop the investigation. This is why so many people are scared now that Trump forced Sessions to resign last week. So far, Matthew Whitaker has been appointed, which is a problem since he has openly said that the Russia investigation was a hoax. If confirmed- it is likely he would stop the Muller investigation.

New Post has been published on https://freenews.today/2021/01/19/career-official-expected-to-temporarily-lead-justice-dept/
Career Official Expected to Temporarily Lead Justice Dept.
Tumblr media
However, Mr. Trump bypassed that system in 2018 after he ousted Mr. Sessions as attorney general, invoking the Vacancies Reform Act of 1998 to install Matthew G. Whitaker, who had been Mr. Sessions’s chief of staff, as acting attorney general instead of permitting the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, the next Senate-confirmed official in the order of succession, to fill that role.
The Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel signed off on Mr. Trump’s maneuver as lawful, establishing a precedent that gives presidents greater flexibility to decide who can temporarily serve as the nation’s top law enforcement officer during a vacancy. The Biden team appears to be relying on that same tactic for Mr. Biden’s installation of Mr. Wilkinson.
John Carlin, the former head of the National Security Division during the Obama administration, is expected to become the acting deputy attorney general once Mr. Biden is sworn in, according to people briefed on the transition decision.
Once Lisa Monaco, Mr. Biden’s choice for deputy attorney general, is confirmed, Mr. Carlin is to become her top deputy. Ms. Monaco was the head of the National Security Division before Mr. Carlin, and the two are known to be close allies.
Mr. Carlin and Mr. Demers are also longtime friends; they were classmates in law school.
Members of the Biden transition team expect that Judge Garland will face little opposition during his confirmation process, as key Republicans including Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, the outgoing chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, have expressed support for his nomination. Other top Republicans including Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Susan Collins of Maine supported Judge Garland in 2017 when Republicans floated him as a potential pick by Mr. Trump to run the F.B.I.
Once confirmed, Mr. Biden has said that Judge Garland’s top priority will be to restore the department’s independence from the White House, a norm that was deeply eroded by Mr. Trump. Mr. Barr was broadly seen as willing to serve the president’s political agenda for the greater part of his tenure.
Complicating his job, Judge Garland will have to navigate demands from some Democrats to investigate Mr. Trump and from Republicans to provide more insight into the ongoing federal tax fraud investigation into Mr. Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.
Charlie Savage contributed reporting.

President Donald Trump's attorney general nominee William Barr was confirmed in the Senate on Thursday to take over the Justice Department as attorney general, where he will oversee special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe.
Barr, 68, was confirmed in a 54-45 vote that largely fell along party lines. He will be sworn in Thursday afternoon in the Oval Office by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, the White House told NBC News.
Barr was widely expected to be confirmed by the Republican-majority Senate on Thursday. He had served in the same role more than two decades earlier in President George H.W. Bush's administration, and had passed procedural hurdles in the Senate Judiciary Committee and the full Senate in recent votes.

Today is a great day for the Department of Justice with the confirmation of William Barr to be the next Attorney General.

A few senators broke with their party in the final vote, however. Among Democrats, Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Doug Jones of Alabama — both of whom represent deep-red states — voted for Barr, as did first-term Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was the only Republican to vote against Barr's nomination.
Barr, a Justice Department veteran, came under heavy scrutiny during his confirmation process. Democrats in particular grilled Barr during congressional testimony about how he would handle Mueller's ongoing probe of Russia's election interference and possible collusion with Trump campaign-related officials.
Barr's rise to become the No. 1 law enforcement official in the country would also give him the responsibility to oversee Mueller's investigation. The previous permanent attorney general, Jeff Sessions, recused himself from the government's Russia probes in March 2017 following reports about his contacts with Russia's then-ambassador to the U.S.
Oversight duties fell to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — a circumstance that vexed Trump, who viciously and publicly criticized Sessions' over his recusal until the beleaguered Sessions left the administration in November.

Trump selected Matthew Whitaker, a former U.S. attorney in Iowa, to fill the role in an acting capacity following Sessions' departure. He inherited oversight duties in the Mueller probe, which alarmed Democrats and other critics who were skeptical of his past comments about it. For instance, Whitaker notably argued in an August 2017 op-ed for CNN that Mueller's investigation is "dangerously close to crossing" the so-called red line not to look into the Trump family's finances.
Barr, in contrast, has said that he considers Mueller a friend, and vowed to make the conclusions of the special counsel's probe as public as he could manage. He even pushed back on Trump's oft-repeated characterization of the Russia investigation as a "witch hunt" during his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in mid-January.
"I don't believe Mr. Mueller would be involved in a witch hunt," Barr told Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., when asked directly in his committee hearing.
That wasn't enough to assuage some Democrats' concerns about the fate of the special counsel investigation in Barr's hands.
"Despite repeated questions and follow-up letters he failed to respond to, Bill Barr refused to commit to allowing the American people to see the full report submitted to him by Special Counsel Mueller," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., the Judiciary Committee's top democrat. "I consider that disqualifying."
Still, she added: "While I opposed Bill Barr's nomination, it's my hope that he'll remember he is the people's lawyer, not the president's lawyer."

OPINION: Great news to hear the confirmation of Bill Barr’s.
Job well done!

Barr confirmation vote delayed after Democrats raise Mueller report concerns
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday postponed a vote on attorney general nominee William Barr by one week after Democrats raised concerns about how Barr will handle special counsel Robert Mueller’s report once he completes his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Those concerns became more pressing after Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker told reporters on Monday that the Mueller investigation was “close to being completed” and that he hopes that a report will be produced by Mueller “as soon as possible.”
Barr has repeatedly pledged as much transparency as possible in how he will handle Mueller’s investigation. But at a committee business meeting Tuesday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the ranking Democrat, raised questions about Barr’s pledge, calling it “qualified.”
Sen Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, put a sharper point on his concerns. “We’re both lawyers and we know that there are weasel words that can be put into sentences and the question of what transparency is consistent with the law is a ginormous loophole in his transparency pledge.”

And newly released written responses to senators’ questions show how Justice Department regulations could keep some of the special counsel’s findings cloaked in secrecy.
Democrats pressed Barr for written, on the record, answers about what he’ll be willing to share about the probe with Congress and the public. With the investigation now nearing completion, Barr’s answers take on even greater significance.

Barr left open the possibility that he could object to efforts to bring Mueller up to testify before congressional committees. Barr isn’t promising to allow the special counsel to testify before Congress if invited or subpoenaed. In his written responses to senators’ questions, Barr would only say that he would consult with Mueller and “other [Justice] Department officials about the appropriate response to such a request in light of the Special Counsel’s findings and determinations at that time.”

Then-FBI Director Robert Mueller listens as he testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, June 13, 2012.
Mueller is required to submit a “confidential” report to the attorney general upon completion of his investigation. What gets released to the public will be almost entirely up to Barr to decide, should he be confirmed. Barr testified during his confirmation hearing that he believes “it is very important that the public and Congress be informed of the results of the special counsel’s work.” He added that he would “follow the special counsel regulations scrupulously” and that his goal “will be to provide as much transparency as I can consistent with the law.”
Those regulations could potentially keep information about uncharged individuals, namely President Trump, from ever reaching Congress or the public.
In written questions, Whitehouse pressed Barr on whether Justice Department regulations would be applied to the Mueller report. In his response, Barr acknowledged that regulations allow the attorney general to publicly release his report “to the extent that release would comply with legal restrictions.” But Barr added that it is “Department policy and practice not to criticize individuals for conduct that does not warrant prosecution.”
Barr went on to explain that the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC)opinion that it would be unconstitutional to indict or prosecute a sitting president remains operative.
With no charge permitted against the president, Barr seems to indicate that any release of information about Trump from the investigation might be limited.
“If the only reason he is an uncharged person is because OLC’s internal, untested, never signed off on by any judge, policy makes him an uncharged person, we gotta to get to the bottom of that,” Whitehouse said.
Judiciary Chairman GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham acknowledged that Whitehouse had raised a “good question to get an answer to.”
“We’ll give him a call,” Graham added.
During his confirmation hearing, Barr was critical of how former FBI Director James Comey handled the conclusion of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. “If you are not going to indict someone, then you do not stand up there an unload negative information about the person,” Barr testified. “That is not the way the Department of Justice does business.”
Congressional committees have opened numerous investigations into the Trump administration. But Barr says the Justice Department is under no obligation to help Congress conduct those investigations as they relate to people who have not been charged.
“Congress can and does conduct its own investigations, and its right to do so is not precluded by the Department’s decision not to provide certain information about an uncharged individual gathered during the course of a criminal investigation,” Barr writes.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Feinstein said that Barr’s indication that he would write a separate report that he would provide to Congress instead of Mueller’s report is something “that needs to be fleshed out.”
“This is the biggest issue facing our country and the American people deserve to know Mueller’s findings and analysis without any filter,” Feinstein added.
Regulations that require Mueller to provide a confidential report to the attorney general “do not prohibit him from sharing this report to Congress,” she said.
While Barr’s written responses track closely with his hearing testimony, questions about what the public will be able to see at the conclusion of the special counsel’s investigation remain.
