One thing ive found as an outside observer is that when some people say "abortion should be illegal" they mean "the state should take action to prevent the death, suffering, and murder of children", but when other people say "abortion should be illegal" they mean "women should be subservient to men" or "a woman's only purpose is to make babies" or even "America should be a theocracy", and a lot of the time, people don't distinguish between the two.
#the abortion debate#abortion#Like yeah the state should prevent the murder and suffereng of children obviously#But when the anti-abortion party is also the party that shrugs its shoulders and goes 'oh well' whenever there's a school shooting#It kinda feels like they don't actually care about children#The fact that they're also the party that wants to turn the usa into a theocracy also doesn't help#im not against xtianity as a religion i myself am xtian#But xtian theocracies are stupid and rely on interptetations of the new testament that can only be made by people who haven't read it
