While I get that unsolicited criticism is still unsolicited and I do understand on some level being annoyed w it there quite literally are rules to legibility in writing and the fact that the overwhelming response to "AITA I told someone that I liked their work but I told them it was sometimes hard to follow because they did not do even basic grammatical editing" was that this person was totally in the wrong. WHILE AO3 guys are constantly trying to argue for the legitimacy of their platform and medium as equivalent to literature. And while yes this is not the totality of everyone who uses AO3 the explicit function of AO3 is to facilitate sharing and discussion and anyone who has that aggressive a response to mild criticism is 100% fanfic brained. Well. Um!
#logxx#Like frankly it is Not equivalent to unsolicited critique of e.g. fanart#A. because again there are in fact rules to legible writing There Literally Are Rules#B. because the criticism brought up is one that actively inhibits enjoyment / is not a stylistic choice / can be corrected in like 15 secs#And C. because the paradigm of the particular culture is that It Is Equivalent to Literature#Ummmm!!!!
