After looking into the writers predicament and how it all led to the strike it made me realize that perhaps one of the reasons for the decline in quality media is becuase writers have been given less and less incentives to create good content, do you have any thoughts?
I don't think it would be exactly incentive. I would think in a certain amount of cases it would be down more to demotivation. Generally, writers for film and TV and such genuinely WANT to make a good story and, much like fanfic writers and fanartists, will do their best for very little thanks simply because it's what they DO. But not ever show or movie is going to be a passion project, in fact most of them won't. And if you're working for Disney especially, who owns 38% of all film (not counting TV and other media) so you most likely WILL end up wroking for Disney, you are going to have a TON of studio meddling on every level of writing.
As I mentioned in the other post, Mr Rick And Morty (sorry I don't know his name and I'm too lazy to check) wrote the story for the Dr Strange and the Multiverse of madness at LEAST twice when the movie's FIRST story and script was scrapped by a previous writer. The first script he wrote was heavily rewritten and changed and reworked by the studio. and then the studio just THREW OUT that script and he had write a brand NEW script 2 weeks before shooting started using all the props, sets, outfits and CG segments they had already made. And the thing is this is now STANDARD PRACTICE in working on a big budget Disney film.
Part of the reason the Barbie movie is written as well as it is, is because Mattel were almost completely hands off with the film's writing. (the only changes I heard about was them censoring one Barbie saying the word "Motherfucker" which they censored in the film by putting a Mattel sticker over her mouth) and various other things like the removal of a narration in one scene and one or two jokes were cut. You know! NORMAL screenwriting practices!
But Disney is so paranoid and controlling with literally everything they put out it is a death sentence for any kind of creativity. Even ignoring the fact that they hire brand new writers who they can control and push around easier, I imagine even if you were NOT a new writer just happy for a big break, it must be extremely demotivating to try and write a good story when you know Disney is just gonna shred it to ribbons.
This is absolutely not the ONLY reason of course. Velma's writing is so godawful because people who had only worked in live action cable comedy thought they could do the exact same thing for an animated show and it would work without knowing anything about the medium they were working in because they were arrogant, lacked restraint, and had gotten where they were thanks to being friends with the right people. HGS is so badly written because Raye Rodriquez had shopped around his story idea to EVERYONE and got rejected by all of them until Crunchyroll needed fodder to justify opening up its own studio to create "originals". Many times modern cartoons are badly written because the actual people writing the show are animators who haven't had any formal training or education in creative writing.
There are a thousand and one reasons for WHY something ends up badly written. But as for why we have gotten SO MUCH that is badly written recently I would chalk up to studio execs and the business side of Hollywood choking the creativity out of the writing process in an attempt to maximize profits in the short term.
That's an EXTREME simplification but that would be my opinion. Hell the only reason AI writing is even a conversation regarding film and TV is because it's the kind of thing these studio execs are SALIVATING over the thought of. A writer they have 100% control over that they don't have to pay and don't have to deal with all that "creative vision" or "artistic expression" bullshit which they don't like because it represents risk to sure fire income.
because most Studio Execs are businessmen who have no concept of creativity whatsoever, have no idea what being creative even means, and yet they think because they know how to make money in a corporate sense, they know how to monetise creativity to maximum efficiency.
It's like a fisherman getting rid of all the fish in the sea because they're getting in the way of him monetising the ocean.
Anyway this ask is a mess because this is a complex issue I am trying to express a simplified opinion on. But I hope you get what I mean.

Altum QnA
Is it still planned to ignore Below Zero? More likely. I do not own Below Zero, and I prefer to not make fanfictions based on games I've only read to lore of. It is more fun and accurate to write a fanfiction when you've played the game, read the books or watched the show. Thought if I get Below Zero while Altum is still in progress maybe I'll add it, who knows.
You added Altum in a serie, The Deepest Point, does that means there's more to come? Yes! I plan on doing more than just Altum. Thought the original plan for The Deepest Point was to reunite Altum, the main story, and side things like Drabble compilations.
Why do you sometimes post screenshots instead of arts? Several possibilities 1: I'm too lazy, tired or anything to draw and post these screenshots as placeholders until I make the actual art. 2: No inspiration or idea for art for the chapter. 3: I do not believe I am able to bring quality content of said thing. I prefer to draw stuff I'm familiar-ish with when posting it to the public. 4: Or I just don't want to draw it and put something like a screenshot instead.
On @arkanicdevotion you drew another Subnautica & Ouroboros crossover, is it related to Altum? No, not even from far. Except the fandoms crossed, there's nothing connecting them.
Is there gonna be smut? No. If I have permission from Spottie maybe, and I say MAYBE I will. I'm not truely interested in smut for the, well, smut. I am interested in reading it for the scientifical part of it, if it makes sense. So probably not. But NOTHING will EVER be done without the clear permission of Spottie.
Do you allow NSFW fan-works of Altum? Mostly no. Permission must be asked to me if it's about Altum aswell as to Spottie. Technically Altum is a co-owner story so only asking me doesn't work, Spottie MUST be asked to. (Unless it's NSFW of my own characters like the potential character named Velma I'll maybe add, she's fully mine, I'm the only one that must be asked in that case). Any people that want to make NSFW of it must please respect that.
What gave you ideas for Altum? Delusions, daydreaming, playing Subnautica and reading Ouroboros one too many times... Like we say in French, j'suis matrixé. I guess whenever I find a source of inspiration and any tiny idea, I use it.
What inspired you for the Corpsegrub? Marguerite Maida from Subnautica. She lived in the corpse of a Reaper Leviathan she killed for awhile until getting beached on Sector 0.
Are Gargantuans, Bloops and other extinct species still, well, extinct in Altum? Yes. Scientifically speaking they are, but I am not going to spoil anything.
How do you hang on like that? Delusions
Do you eat, drink and sleep well? (One of the actual questions I was asked) Sleep is difficult, I just moved out so I'm needing to grow used to the new environnement but yeah. But otherwise, yes I take care of myself.

I had watched Velma (for free cause I aint helping them get views) and theres this trend I hate. That's when they make the white people idiots & always insult them. I'm black and I find that offensive. There's a way to make fun of everybody in a smart way (In Living Color is a great example) but these modern shows are just hateful or not funny or both. They just want to trigger ppl without any kind of positive message.
And I can't be mad at only the ppl who write the shows. The companies who allow it and advertisement and ones who distribute it are at fault too. And when you look at the history of propaganda, I'm pretty sure this is intentional. The United States makes money off of ravial division. This is why we dont have shows like Weekenders, Statick Shock, Doug, Hey Arnold, Xaolin Showdown, Totally Spies, Darkwing Duck, Recess, El Tigre, 6teen, original Teen Titans, Justice League, Kim Possible, The Proud Family (original not the new one), Jackie Chan Adventures, or other shows like that anymore. Those shows brought too many different ppl together. Racial division is profitable but also useful in controlling the minds of the ignorant. And behind it all is politics. One side complains about this while the other complains about that. Then both sides make a profit while controlling the masses through artificial hate.
I wish we could go back to shows that had positive portrayals of all races & both sexes. A group of friends of different races with both guys and girls just happily hanging out and dealing with everyday struggles and how to overcome them with help from your friends. Cause this modern stuff just makes everyone hate each other.
I want shows like Statick Shock where Virgil finds out that his best friend Richie has a racist dad & it upsets Richie so much that he runs away from home. And the dads of both have to work together to find Richie as Richie's dad learns he is misjudging others. And episodes later, Richie's dad is friendly with Virgil and his dad.
Or how in Teen Titans, Starfire was being called a troq by a "heroic" racist. Then Cyborg thinks its just a nickname and calls Starfire that and she gets upset. Then after Cyborg finds out, he says he can relate because he's half cyborg (subtext is that he can relate because he's black). Then all of her friends stand by her and give the cold shoulder to that guy who called her that slur. They weren't gonna put up with that.
Or even in oG SpongeBob when they say Sandy can't do stuff they can because she's a squirrel while they say "sea creatures rule!" That episodes teaches a lesson about both racism and sexism. Sandy is the only girl against a group of guys who thing they are better. Sandy is from a different group of people against a group of water people who thing they are better. Sandy thinks she's better too. Then in the end, they give the lesson that nobody is good at everything and they should value the differneces and what the other person is good at as they apologize to each other.
We peaked in the 90's and 2000's. Sadly, I think its all downhill from there now. Not just with TV shows, but with music and everything else. The good things we get nowadays are just leftovers from a better time that didn't over politicize race, sex, gender, religion, and policital leaning as they do now. Respect is lacking. All ppl want to do is trigger someone. What kind of society is that?

did you see that ben 10 co creator just recently talked about the possibility of a new ben 10 series?but he said they won't do with the original continuity and they want more mature and emotional stuff like UAF used to be with a more older and mature ben, like honestly it sounds cool, but tbh I don't like ben 10k it would be more cool if they go with more mature and older prime ben and not the ben 10k one, what do you think?
[(text:) anonymous asked: lol the ben 10 co creator literally said we're done with the comedic and funny stuff and they want to do a more mature and dark story if they ever gonna make a series again I want that shit (end text)]
I've said it before, but the idea of a new Ben 10 continuity utterly fails to tickle my fancy. It's why I have refused to (and will continue to refuse to) watch the reboot.
The OG Ben 10 continuity spans more than 200 episodes and four movies and a shitload of video games and comics. I do not want to do all of that again. Do you all have any idea how much of my brain is already dedicated to Ben 10 lore? I can't take another one!
More to the point, I don't trust any rebooted Ben 10 to actually be, well, good. Especially not if its creators are aiming for something "more mature" and "dark." I love when cartoons get serious, don't get me wrong. But dedicated adult shows (especially when adapted from children's media) tend to only focus on saying the word "fuck" and gratuitous gore and "oooh~ these characters have sex!!!!" instead of actually telling a good story. (I.E.: Family Guy, Rick and Morty, Velma, etc.)
It's true that there's a tiny chance of a hypothetical Ben 10 reboot getting really passionate writers, stellar animation, heartwarming character arcs, detailed world-building, etc... But I have all the building blocks I need to do all of that myself. I do it myself all the time! I don't need a Netflix reboot or whatever to do it for me.
Also, I like Ben 10 how it is. Are there things I'd change? Sure. Do I sometimes ignore canon to make things fit more coherently? Yeah. But I love this show, I've grown up loving it, and its world, story, and characters are always going to be special to me. I love UAF's darker plots with xenophobia, inbreeding, and genocide, and I also love the Omniverse episode where Ben and Rook watch paint dry (← makes me giggle just thinking about it).
So I'm not interested in seeing a reboot. I do not want that. I don't want a continuation, either. Leave some things for the fans to imagine, you know? I don't need to see every single stop on the path from Point A (Ben's teenage years) to Point B (Ben's adult years).
Now, I would be interested in perhaps a "What If?" series like Marvel did. What if Ben was an Anodite? What if Charmcaster joined Ben and Gwen instead of Kevin? What if Max wasn't a Plumber? What if Maltruant succeeded in creating his own universe? What if Ben refused to use the Omnitrix for fighting and was a strict pacifist? What would Ben be like if Gwen really had died in Secret of the Omnitrix? Etc etc etc. I think that would all be very cool. Some fun food for thought.
But if anymore Ben 10 media comes out in the future, it's safe to say that I will not be engaging with it. I'm happy with what I've got. Not everything needs more more more.

☕️ adult animation in general :}
i really feel like adult animation, as a whole, is an aspect of animation so overlooked by people online because they have mushed peas for brains. do not get me wrong, there's a lot to criticize/is bad, but thinking that the only "good adult stories" lie in animation geared towards kids is stupid and really doesn't highlight the stories adult animation does tell. like if animation is for all ages, why the hell do people only recommend shows and movies clearly aimed at an audience made for children. "oh but(x) is for all ages" i don't think i have to tell you why the talking cat movie and the Australian show that airs on a kids channel may be aimed towards a certain demographic.
a main criticism of adult cartoons is that they rely on sex, drugs, and cursing jokes. now i could point out that people laugh when that jokes are animation for tweens but whatever. all i'm gonna say is, so? adults do those things, obviously they're gonna joke about it. (also people loveeee saying smiling friends and hazbin are so different than adult animation despite BOTH shows using this humor. hell, while not a western animated cartoon, panty and stocking's humor is like this and no one shits on it.) and when adult animated shows aren't focused on humor (LIKE PEOPLE WANT THEM TO BE) people complain About them being too depressing or miserable to watch (DESPITE THEM WATCHING SHIT LIKE THE OWL HOUSE WHICH PEOPLE PRAISE FOR IT'S DARK STORYTELLING). basically no matter what genre it is, I feel like adult animation can't win.
people always point out the artstyle too which again really isn't a problem. there's a lot of beautiful adult animated cartoons and ones that are really stylized, but everyone ignores them to make fun of the family guy ripoff that will get canned in two minutes. and that's really the biggest problem yeah? the family guy ripoffs are what people judge literally the entire landscape of adult animation by. despite there being really good stuff out there, it's judged by the few that suck dick and balls. people used to do with kids' animation and now people complain about how the whole genre must suck. and then when people recommend shows that are good they get all mad and go "well there's only a few that are good!" or "well...that's comedy based so it doesn't count" LIKE AT LEAST GIVE IT A CHANCE!!!!
AND. AND!! it seems like even the industry is stacked against adult animated projects. netflix cancelling qforce, tuca and bertie, and inside job for one, but also adult swim's "put eggs in one basket" strat they have with rnm. it seems like adult swim only (for many years at least) cared about rnm and it seems they didn't put as much effort in promoting the other show on the network. adult swim being one oif the only (besides like fox) that host adult animation kinda sucks but a lot of these stories that people create don't seem to reach their full potential because networks are scumbags. adult swim has built a good will reputation with most of it's fans (i say most because [looks at paper shredder]) by being cool and hip with what their audience likes but at the end of the day they are a network. and they act like any other scumbag network. see their desire to just cancel shows: moral orel and venture bros for instance. and well. you know. [looks at a paper shredder] or adult swim refusing to pay carey means (the voice of frylock) residuals. in other news there's a new season of aqua teen coming soon.
the only adult cartoons people talk about are the really popular ones or the ones that suck. from my experience (see: college campus in nj) the only adult cartoons people discuss are rick and morty and south park. which is like UGH. Ive seen people in archer shirts though, but it's mainly those two, which sucks because i feel like there's much to choose from. and on the other hand people love to talk about the ones that suck. despite everyone saying they weren't going to watch velma they did. they hatewatched it. and they gave it attention social media. "but it was all negative" king, that's still attention, do not act surprised when they green light this for season 2. you hatewatch the bad shows and then act surprise when good shows that you don't watch at all get canned but the bad ones do. curious!
conclusion: i think if you want to say animation is for all ages you gotta watch adult animation! yes! it's not going to be what you want sometimes, it might be a bad artstyle, or have dumb humor, but you gotta go out of your comfort zone sometimes! ask people for recommendations online and i am sure you'll fine something for you. and most importantly STOP MAKING TWEETS AND POSTS DISPARAGING ADULT ANIMATION. YOU'LL NEVER APPRECIATE THE MEDIUM FULLY IF YOU KEEP SHITTING ON WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER!!
second conclusion: i don't care how good arcane is i'm not watching a league of legends show.
third conclusion: stop recommending bluey as a show for adult it is literally for preschoolers. i know you'll say it's good and i'm sure it is, but if you think bluey is the best show for adults right now you literally have mushed peas for your brain. go see a doctor.
fourth conclusion: also metaloclaypse sucks dick. don't watch that

Velma is the best show.
Velma is the best show, and I am going to tell you how, no Velma is a show that deserves to be in the trash somewhere, I just said that to gain your attention and tell you why I hate the show so much.
Okay so in case you don't know about this show, let me try to summaries it for you. Velma is a new Scooby Doo series featuring (I think she's 15 yo) girl (that for some reason, from my point of view, hates white people) that I think is investigating the disappearance of her mother and there are 3 more main characters in the series, Daphne, Fred and Norville (not Shaggy Norville) and don't know if there's a Scooby in it, cause I've only watched clips and trailers.
So now I'm going to start telling you why I do not like this show,
The first time I saw the show (it was a picture of Norville) was in a meme in later part of 2021 on YouTube shorts(TikTok wouldn't accept me for my age the discrimination) I thought it was a joke that the person that created the meme made for laughs even though I saw it weird but as I said before, I thought it was for laughs, so I ignored it. Fast forward to later part of 2022, where I could go on TikTok, but my parents forbade me, so I moved to Instagram, where I followed Scooby Doo's official account, where they advertised Velma.
At first, I was confused and slowly with time, confusion grew into anger and annoyance.
But why hate this show you ask, well first I hated the show for naive reasons, because I felt that one of my childhood favourites was being messed up and not even in a 'not bad' way (and my childhood isn't even over yet so imagine how that feels), but as I kept on ( thanks for reading/skipping to this point) watching clips I saw that it was just weird, take for example, the main characters, to be frank, if I saw that much diversity in a friend group of four in real life, I'd freak out, but so incase you want to know to race of the characters, velma is indian, Shaggy, sorry, Norville is black, Daphne is east Asian and Fred is Fred and Incase you care about Thier relationships with each other, here's it from my point of view, Velma is dating Shaggy, sorry, Norville and Daphne at the same time with thier consent and Daphne is also dating Fred with the consent of Velma and Velma hates Fred for he is white and they keep on trying to remind us of thier race every four minutes.
But my question is like, who is this show for? Cause in a clip I watched they made serious fun of Adults that watch cartoons, and it's not gonna be for teenagers, cause as a teenager myself, I'm just offended, they as a show are just throwing the message that teenagers are plain dumb, it's not for true Scooby Doo fans and clearly not for children, so who then is this show for? Maybe elderly people whom everything seems to piss them of.
Anyway, thanks for reading/skipping to this point if I forgot or, didn't do something correctly, or bad grammar or just anything.

“Yes, we’re very aware of the story,” said Charlie Grandy. “I think it’s great that you can tell these stories about Velma that have been talked about forever, but now you can address them in all the different iterations of Velma. We don’t want to give away any spoilers about that episode.”
“Her self-discovery is a really big part of this series,” Kaling added. “One of the biggest appeals for Charlie and I about doing this was when we started working on the show and Charlie started writing the first script it was like… that’s a big part of it. We didn’t want to ignore it. It’s what’s interesting to people. She’s an icon for young gay women and I think that’s really interesting to us. Her figuring it out is a big part of the show and why it is really fun to do.”
From a press conference with Mindy Kalling and Charlie Grandy about Velma's sexuality in the new HBO series.
And let me just say, YAY! :D Velma gonna be gay in it as well and I am just so happy and releaved. :D
Also for those of you shitting on the first teaser vid. It's literally a video I'm guessing they made to make fun of how ridiculous all the people who have been shitting on the show for being different have been.
I highly doubt the show, or Velma in the show are going to be like that.

Okay but if you think Velma has ANY merit. Go watch mystery inc. and you will immediately understand why everyone is so upset.
With more ppl talking about scooby doo lately i keep seeing ppl being like "isn't it cannon that-" as a broad question. But like, lots of things are cannon, it just depends on the iteration.
"Isn't it cannon that the gang are teenagers?" Usually, sometimes they're adults
"Didn't they get scooby doo as a puppy/when they were kids" somtimes yeah. But in the mystery begins they got him when he was an adult and they were teenagers. Scooby goes Hollywood the gang are actors playing themselves in the original show, and in that one they were teenagers and Scoob was a puppy.
