MONKEY HOUSE CELEBRATES A TRIO OF SINGER-SONGWRITERS

On Saturday April 22nd,, a trio of recording artists and songcrafters will take the stage at The Monkey House, a longtime listening room at 1638 University Avenue in Berkeley. Music begins at 7PM. 

Entertainer and “Singer at Large” Johnny J. Blair will present his brand of “pop music with a twist,” influenced by Americana, psychedelia, New Wave, and gospel. Brian Wilson called Johnny “a virtuoso.” His current itinerary includes performing in assisted living homes for people with disabilities and dementia: “Music goes through the brain into places where math and language don’t go. Music heals and makes a difference.” Johnny has worked with a range of artists—most prominently with Davy Jones and The Monkees. Johnny will do songs from his recordings and tell stories “about Monkees, working with people in care homes, and life in the music industry.”

Seán Lightholder tells stories through his music, working in the genres of folk, rock, blues, and traditional Irish music. He is a fifth-generation San Franciscan who soaked up the city’s eclectic sounds and cultures. He lived in Ireland for a time—the country his father grew up in—and there became deeply influenced by its music and rhythms. Seán has bounced back and forth between the continents, building community around music: through writing and creating community websites, hosting "socially distant" jams during the COVID-19 pandemic, and playing with other bands—notably the popular Irish rock group CaliCeltic.

Americana artist Will Solomon is originally from Kentucky and currently resides in Seattle. Nashville Scene called him “versatile and confident.” He’s touring with his trio to promote his album “Misspelled Words.” Musically he draws comparisons to James Taylor, Ray Lamontange, and Bruce Hornsby.

ENERGY Part 2...How can I change my life knowing that I have felt energy? That literally took me a decade to realize that my thoughts were on a different frequency than my actions. When I was first introduced to the Law of Attraction it was after Hurricane Katrina. I had made the decision to move back to MS from New Orleans. (I move back and forth all the time) I had a customer at my job come specifically for me and told me that spirit told him to come see me and tell me about this book called The Secret. I looked at the book and dismissed it. Wasn’t interested in reading another self help book. I needed to get my career together and get back to the city I loved. One night at home I was looking through my library of books and came across the book again! There it was staring me in the damn face 😩😩 Ok spirit I got it!! Read the book in one night and my life was changed. Went and founded the dvd and boom 💥 boom 💥 Life changed. I started to put it to the test. Imagine being in between jobs, single (Was on a break from my fiancé) and broke. What did I have to lose?? My first exercise was receiving letters in the mail. The bills I was receiving I would scratch out the amount and put a positive in front of the number. I started thinking on a frequency that I would receive more checks than bills. About a week or so, I received a check in the mail from a former employer and I lost my mind!! This shit really works!!!!!!! Then I developed a vision board. I wanted my own event planning business. Not only did I put it on my vision board, I put a famous event planner picture up there as well. Every morning I looked at this board and I imagine all the things I wanted to manifest. Damn!! I got most of the things on the board. I was operating on a high frequency. So I manifested the things that were meant for my good. How can I share this amazing information and how do I help people understand that with the right energy (frequency) you can create the life you want?? After a period of time I got off track.....How did someone that have felt energy....and now know how to used energy lose it all???
