Also PhD and PD periods are super hard on one's mental and physical capacities. There is huge instability. You're constantly expected to fight for having a funding in order to do your job but also live. That is insane. That is an inhumane system to continue. Nobody can be a genius under that kind of pressure. There is a reason of brain drain from academia.

Researcher’s dream continues. 🥳🥂🍾
My research papers were cited in 300 scientific studies.
2012 ... 1st paper published as a BSc. student
2019 ... PhD award, start of postdoc, 8 papers published
2020 ... 100 citations
2021 ... 200 citations
2022 ... 11 papers published, others in preparation
2023 ... 300 citations
This is encouraging! Achievements like this bring me joy and motivation to keep doing good science. Especially in times when I feel like the results just don’t come and I have to work really hard for it.

Currently in my 3-hour biostatistics class while making this post. I want to skip this class since it's just so much easier to self-study than listen to our prof.

Trying to focus. I'm currently studying Oncology and Hematology in a post graduated course. It's been really nice to review those subjects I already study in college.
Reinstalled Forest and hope to be more consistent with my studies.

In order to make great discoveries and come up with exciting ideas you need to have peace and quite. You need to have a slow pace to digest and go over the details. In current academic climate that isn't possible but also it is frowned upon. I think we'll be hearing more cases like Stanford President's fake papers and data in the near future.

The Lineage & Differentiation of Human Blood Cells
Tumblr media
All blood cells originate from a hematopoietic stem cell known as a Hemocytoblast. Through multiple rounds of differentiation, this Hemocytoblast becomes erythrocytes, lymphocytes, thrombocytes, and every other type of blood cell that we know of.

Not bad...
Tumblr media
Almost 80 citations of my research articles in the last year... I would say it’s not bad. It eases a bit my feeling of “I don’t know what I am doing here!” that I sometimes have.

hiiii fellow aspiring bioinformatician! it's so nice to come across people that are taking on a similar journey ^=^ what courses have you taken and how are you finding them so far? which are your favorite ones?
(oh also I just need you to know, that dear/deer pun has me laughing for the past ten minutes asfhkkgddjgfhjgfhsfs)
hii yes it is! ☺️ i'm not that far along into my degree yet, just taken some basic bio, physiology, and (am still taking) chemistry. i kind of have to tell myself i like all of them equally so i maintain interest in them and continue to study hard 😂 i guess cell biology was my true favorite so far tho.
what about you? what courses have you taken and which are your favorites? you're studying engineering, right?
glad you liked the deer pun! 🦌ppl usually roll their eyes at those XD
