After reading the prologue for HOFAS, I think Lidia needs someone to fight for. She needs to know what it is to feel like a person instead of a tool being used to end a war. For so long she’s basically believed that she is NOTHING.. She doesn’t have someone waiting for her to come home, nothing bad would happen if she died— THAT IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF HERSELF, and that is what she feels everyday. “You remind me that I am alive,” she says to Ruhn… She needs to be put in a position where ANYONE, Ruhn, Hunt, Bryce, LITERALLY ANYONE can show her what it is to have a friend, to feel connected to life, and to not feel like she is a tool for the rebellion and that’s it

Open questions I have for (the) future CC-Book(s):

What is Isaiah's story? Who is he saving his money for, who's freedom does he want to buy?

What is Jesiba's story? Why did she leave the witches and became a sorceress? What's her connection to Hypaxia? What's her connection to Aidas???

Who is/was Hunt's father? (This one surely will get answered, they must)

What happens to Viktoria? She isn't dead dead, and that possibly means she'll come back. Low-key theory here: She 'becomes' Amren.

There's more, of course. The obvious things. Like, the general Plot. What happens with Ithan and the wolf girl? How are Ruhn and Hunt doing in captivity? What will happen with Ruhn and Lidia? Hypaxia and Celestina? Flynn and Ariadne?

But those already got set up, and surely will get answered. And I'm sure I forgot some stuff that I'll probably add later on. But yeah...

so i've been processing for a good... twenty-four hours now.

i loved it, quite honestly.

i feel like people have been forgetting that CC3 was exactly that - Crescent City 3. Not ACOTAR 5, not TOG 8.5 or something like that.

that being said, was i a little disappointed by the crossover? mayhaps. i was hoping for something with a bit more oomph, i think (but i also think on my reread i'll appreciate it much more)

anyway, the one thing i really wanted to talk about was lidia (of course)

more specifically, her bloodline

the gasp i gasped when i read that she was descended from Brannon???? amazing. will be chasing that high for a few years now. she's also descended from aelin and dorian, which is just... i'm beyond words rn

HOWEVER... the bad thing about this all is that the gates are still open (i think??? i might be completely wrong but stay with me here)

prior to HOFAS, that applied to exactly two characters in the sjmultiverse: dorian and aelin (three if you count hollin but he's off ruling hybern)

but now... lidia might have to sacrifice everything to close the gates in the upcoming books.

and that thought terrifies me :)

I think it’s very funny when ppl say that it’s obvious that Elain is next cause she is the last archeron and the only person who could hold a plot + Gwyn could never cause she is a secondary character WHEN:

Elain is - at this moment - more secondary than Gwyn cause what exactly we had about her? (Yeah I heard the theories that she can’t have a POV cause she is a seer and she would be a walking spoiler so her pov has to be hidden)

Lidia cervos only showed up on book 2 and baby girl stole the entire show while being secondary character? Yrene Westfall hellooo?

I was just ranting about this elsewhere so here we go haha!

"why would Gwyn or Az get a pov/book when Elain hasn't had one yet and when Cassian and Rhys never got one?" because these characters are not in line at the DMV? they didn't take a number at the deli counter?

The only thing that really matters in terms who gets a book or a pov is whether it makes sense to the story being told.

Sometimes people argue about these stories as if they are math, as if there has to be a certain order to the way things are told. But that's not how storytelling works? The characters aren't queued up, and this is not kindergarten - they don't all get equal time with the omniscient narrator. This isn't about what's perceived as "fair", but what will actually make sense for the story.

Chaol didn't get a book because he had been waiting patiently for it since ToG. Chaol got a book because his chapters were originally going to be part of EoS, but his story ended up being much bigger than originally planned. He didn't get a story because he "deserved" it for still being alive multiple books later, but because it made sense to focus on his narrative on its own. It was about what was organic within the story and what would be the best, most effective, impactful way to tell that story.

So yeah, Gwyn can become a main character, so can Vassa, so can Miryam and Drakon, so could Eris - it's literally Sarah's job to figure out what makes sense for the story and to bring us along for the ride. There is no "math" that is going to make a specific character "required" to be next. Certain things make more sense than others, but people are wayyyyy too stuck on the distinction between main character and side character and acting like the author is somehow limited. She's only limited by her imagination, my friends!

I would love to believe that the Hind convinces the Asteri and Archangels to sort of “give her” Hunt… Because she is considered to be one of the loyal “servants” or whatever, of the Asteri and the Archangels, and has a history of being a ruthless torturer, she could make it look like she’s making his life horrible… Also, it’s pretty well known that Hunt hates Pollux, so it’s even more believable that the Hind could be making him miserable. In reality, she would just be putting him up for show and making it look like she tortures him and makes him to whatever she wants and stuff, while protecting him and keeping him safe from the Archangels and Asteri who might put him through horrible things.

This being said, SJM has made clear comments that Hunt will be going through the wringer and I’m so not ready, so I feel like this wont happen, it would just be nice if it did. Especially because Lidia hasn’t really had many friends or people in her corner who believe in her and stuff, and I feel like her and Hunt could actually become friends in a way and we could see our girl have someone on her side for once.

All that t*rture in the dungeons, Ruhn’s piercing and tattoos. Baxian’s tattoo. The wings. “How strong is your bite?” Sarahhhhh!!!!! Stop! That was more than I could handle😫

The Middengard Wyrm😖. Nesta dealt with it brilliantly but it just makes you appreciate how impossible it was that human Feyre managed to kill this thing by herself with no decent weapons.
