For digital advertising campaigns I’ll use tools like Meta’s ad platform (Facebook, Instagram) to manage and optimize my clients' online presence. These services don’t require ‘purchasing’ per se, but I do need reliable internet access and software subscriptions.
Since my work revolves around digital products/service, there are no "sourcing" required. Some marketing companies do outsource the work to smaller firms or overseas where they can pay a pittance for the work. I do not plan on exploiting other’s work. Luckily, the resources I need can be accessed instantly on my computer, tools are downloadable, online advertising platforms are available at any time, and for printing materials, I have local shops that I can collaborate with.
As for delivery of projects and materials, I’ll work on a flexible schedule that allows me to meet clients in person and then follow up working remotely. This flexibility gives me confidence that I can manage my time properly and meet project deadlines without the delays.
In terms of business compliance, running a freelance marketing business requires minimal licensing. However, since I will be operating in the Niagara region, I should obtain a business license. Some municipalities require freelancers to obtain a business license. I’ll need to check with the local government in the Niagara region to see if one is needed for home-based marketing services. Also, if I decide to trademark my business name or logo, there will be a process involved. I am not familiar with this process, but I am aware that I should become familiar with it. However, this can usually be deferred until the business grows. My vision is to build a reputable, service-oriented freelance marketing business where I help small local businesses grow through customized strategies. No stress, no fuss, no big price tags.
