(My Very Own) Top 20 Sterek Fics

Here is my very own Top 20 Sterek Fics (out of order)

For me, these fanfictions are a “MUST READ NOW!!!” kind of deal. These authors have so much talent, it’s incredible. These stories are just marvelous and deserve LOVE ! So, I decided to share them with you.

I’ve read most of these fics several times and some of them are even my bedside table books (with Harry Potter and the Prisonner of Azcaban and Jane Eyre)

So here we go!

1: Enemy Lines by @qhuinn - 150k - Explicit - Dystopia - Enemies to friends to lovers - Action/adventure

This is the story of werewolf Derek Hale and human Stiles Stilinski: two people who grew up in the same town but completely different worlds, their realities split by the war between men and wolves.

Years later when Derek returns to Beacon Hills, he does it as Alpha of a military pack on a mission to capture those responsible for the region’s resistance. With his main objective, Sheriff Stilinski, out of sight, he settles for the next best thing: his son, Stiles.

Neither of them suspects they’ll need to trust each other if they want to make it out this alive.

One of the others had come up behind him while he hadn’t been paying attention, and his vision began to swim even as his eyes caught sight of the half-empty syringe the guy was holding.

It’d been a long time since he’d started thinking he was probably one of the last humans on earth, that out there the only sentient beings were those that would devour him whole. The lonely safety Stiles has built around an old radio tower in the middle of nowhere is about to be broken. Stiles isn’t sure if Derek is a harbinger of chaos or hope at the end of the world.

It's the summer after Stiles' first year of college, and he's working a crappy job and dealing with nightmares and anxiety - but he's okay, he swears. He makes it through most days without too much trouble. Then, a certain werewolf comes back into town. Which Stiles doesn't care about, nope, not at all.

After two and a half years, Derek returns to Beacon Hills with his small Pack. Though he tried to move on, something just kept drawing him back to Beacon Hills, he's just not sure what. Now, he figures he can start building something like a life - but he keeps getting distracted by Stiles Stilinski of all people.

When Stiles gets thrown into the bank vault about twenty minutes after him, Derek isn’t even surprised.As it turns out, neither is Stiles.

Stiles knows it's wrong, but he's been Fantasizing about Derek and he can't bring himself to stop. Derek doesn't know who's taken an interest in him, but he's enjoying it way more than he probably should.

There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life.

There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.

8: Stand Fast in Your Enchantments by @devildoll - 77k - Explicit - Captivity - Feral!Derek - Angst with a happy ending

"Stiles knew damn well what a pissed-off wolf sounded like, and every hair on the back of his neck was telling him that somewhere in this room was a very pissed-off werewolf." An AU in which Derek is feral, Stiles is magical, and they eat a lot of fast food.

Something was wrong in Beacon Hills. Derek was halfway across the country when he felt a call to return to his hometown, and somehow Stiles had been talked into letting the werewolf stay in his guest bedroom. This could lead to nothing good.

A twig snaps, and then Stiles hears breathing and the rustle of leaves. He strains to get a better glimpse into the darkness, but it’s pointless. There’s nothing but a black void.

It's Stiles' senior year, and he's trying to concentrate on normal things - like the lacrosse championship, spring break, prom, graduation (and definitely not Derek) - when he starts having nightmares and waking up in the middle of nowhere. Oh yeah, and he's being haunted by a hag. Great.

12: And You Say You're Alone by taelynhawker - 30k - Explicit - Pack Dynamincs - Bad Friend Scott - Romance

Between the kanima, the Argents, and Peter's untimely return from the dead, everything has fallen apart. Stiles and Derek try to put their lives back together once the crisis has passed. Stiles deals with the aftermath of being tortured, and the distance growing between he and Scott. Derek attempts to become a stronger alpha and keep his pack safe, and that includes Stiles.

13: Trust Fall by Stoney - 144k - Explicit - Body Swap - Hurt/Confort - Slow Burn/Build

Stiles is fairly certain that a case could be made for every bad thing in his life coming back to Peter Hale. This time it's pissing off a powerful witch, who retaliated by swapping Stiles and Derek a la Freaky Friday, because sure. That makes sense. Um, there are GPAs on the line, not to mention the whole thing where his dad wants to shoot Derek on sight. Except who he sees as Derek is actually Stiles, and Stiles did not sign up for filicide.

Great. Wait...does this mean he's the Alpha until they figure this out? Holy. Shit.

Derek had stood in front of the bathroom mirror for a few minutes trying to control the panic as he saw himself as Stiles. As the loud mouthed human friend of the pack. He was going to kill Peter. He was going to kill the witch, then he was going to kill Peter. Maybe even resurrect him again just to kill him all over.

They were going to have to play this cool. They would have to stay calm and focused. Which is of course why the universe threw him into this situation with someone who physically couldn't be calm and focused.

Of course.

14: Gravity's Got Nothing on You by @zosofi - 84k - Explicit - Fake/Pretend Boyfriends - Humor - Romance

“Three weeks,” Derek says.

“Still don’t want to,” Stiles says.

“I’ll pay you,” Derek says, and that… that has Stiles interested. Alf’s Antique’s may be a great job, but it’s not a high-paying job, and half of Stiles’s tuition is coming from financial aid, so…

“How much,” Stiles asks, “are we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And it’ll be kind of awkward after.“

“My family thinks you’re some sort of fucking gift to the world,” Derek seethes, like he’s jealous, “they’ll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so don’t worry about that. Five hundred bucks.”

“A thousand,” Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.

Stiles accidentally ends up magically bound to Derek. It’s super.

Stiles is 27 now, with a master’s degree and a career and a house and a serious boyfriend and a life in San Francisco that doesn't include Derek. But then Stiles unexpectedly shows back up in Beacon Hills, and Derek would recognize that scent anywhere.

Psycho Ex gets my egoless revenge with a side of heavy-duty karma.

The following story occurred over the course of 13-8 years ago, and I apologize preemptively for the length, because it is a bit involved.

I was in a relationship for 9 years with a girl I met in college. We broke up on the cusp of my 29th birthday. While breakups and divorce are never trauma-free, this one was as close to that as I believe is humanly possible to get, there were no fights and minimal drama, and I moved to a new city to get a fresh start and be nearer my dad/stepmom/half sisters, as I'm close to them and it was nice to have family during this. Get an apartment, start over, everything's good. Then I meet "her."

Things with her seemed good at first. She was the polar opposite of my ex. She's quiet yet nice, had her life relatively together (my first wife was very unfocused and horrible with money), physically a complete contrast, wild in the bedroom--I thought I had hit the jackpot.

Anyhoo, I fall for her hard. We have a whirlwind romance, move in shortly, and we have this glamorous life where we make good money (she was a corporate accountant, I had a decent small business, we're pulling in 150K+ combined), renting a luxury apartment, one car paid and the other brand new, no kids. Things are great, except that we drink too much together and some other underlying issues I'm blind to at the time. We get soused one night and drive to Vegas, and get married on the strip after 6 months of dating and 9 of knowing each other. The ink is barely dry on my divorce papers from version 1.0, but no matter, I'm in love. My family likes her overall. Her family loves me. We adopt cats. We talk about trying to have a kid.

We upgrade our life and take on more debt, just as the housing bubble bursts and the economy tanks, she loses a couple jobs due to her inability to show up on Mondays, and I start losing clients as the ones I have start cutting their advertising budget (my field). Things start to get pinched, and she first starts complaining, then gets petulant, because now we can't spend the way we used to, the quarterly mini-vacations dry up, plus we're cooking at home instead of going out to eat 4x a week. We basically stop having sex a little more than a year into the relationship (didn't realize it then, because I was dumb and love-blind, but she cheated on me during this period).seRealizing what we're up against with our normal bills plus our credit cards, I go out and get a job bartending at a posh resort, the only other real skill I have at the time that's marketable. I get two other part time gigs to help make ends meet. She still complains, and throws me an ultimatum before I even start getting paychecks, laying the blame at my feet. I say fine, screw this then. Had we stuck it out even a few more months, things would have started to turn a financial corner. Instead, she goes full two-faced, mean-spirited bitch on me. The night we first fight, she "attempts suicide" by scratching her wrist with a leatherman, then calls 911, gets admitted to the hospital (I arrive home to cops telling me this), and has the security guard toss me when I show up to see if she's okay because she doesn't want to talk to me. I use the quotes because there was a small collection of firearms nearby I bought for her target shooting hobby which were untouched, so it was obviously just a ploy for attention.

We basically fight for the next week, I give her everything she wants, which includes leaving the house, signing over my new truck to her, and only taking stuff I brought into the relationship, basically enough to fill a small storage space. She's financially pinched so I sell my office furniture for cash and don't even touch the bank account, just take my biz money and one CC I got separate from her. I go to the Bay Area for a few months, financially struggle, don't get the job I was sure was on lock. During this time, I have this revelation one evening--I drink too much and that it's caused a load of problems in my life, so I quit, and I haven't touched a drop since.

Broke and realizing nothing I try is working, I come back to town, live with my dad for a month, find a roommate, then a shit retail job (my business has dropped from 7-8K per month at its height to now around 500/mo), I bike everywhere bc I can't afford a car, and my credit is toast partially due to her love of spending on plastic, so I'm facing bankruptcy. I'm 31, and this is really humbling, but whatever, I'm alive, have dealt with hardship before, this won't last forever. She has kept her house, declared personal BK on her debts, keeps her car, and has been dating a series of men starting a couple weeks after we split. While I never asked the details, apparently she's also reached out to a few of my friends and badmouthed me a bit. This would be mildly annoying, but add in two factors--she's dragging her feet on the divorce due to not having money to file, keeps up contact on the pretense of us needing to talk, but plays emotionally manipulative head games during the whole sequence ("I've realized I still love you, that's why you can make me cry so easily," and other bullshit Hallmark movie lines like this). Also, we live in a suburb that's smaller and tightly knit, so multiple places I go to like my church, the bookstore I frequent, and the coffee shop right by my place, she talks endless shit to people. Says I was a cheater and physically/emotionally abusive (complete crap, but whatever), I'm stalking her, I supposedly stole tens of thousands of dollars from her, the whole nine. Some people actually believe her, I even get threatened by a wannabe biker one night that's literally twice my age with violence, itself a funny story but not the point.

Finally, after some more bullshit and back and forth, she leaves town (more falsehoods around this, including her borrowing a bit of money she didn't end up paying back, and sticking me with a massive overage on our cell bill right before we split the account). My dumb, trusting heart hurts but I'm mostly relieved to see the last of her, realizing she's only nice to me when she wants something. She goes to NY to shack up with another guy, gets pregnant 15 minutes later. Finally sends me divorce paperwork. I sign it and send back quickly, all notarized docs, everything organized and flagged. She attempts to be "friends" and I want no part of this BS. I'm businesslike, she gets upset. She screws up filing, blames me. I say "whatever," straighten out the court issues. One week after the divorce is finalized, the kid is born. No word from her after that for two years, thank god. I get a new career, start advancing in it, and start dating a new woman that I'm still with 10 years later. Weirdly enough, they knew each other, and she didn't like her, partially because one of my ex's infidelity partners was her ex-husband, during a time they were exploring patching things up for the kids' sake (though there were multiple reasons for her distrust, apparently she always gave my wife an icky intuitive feeling).

So flash forward two years. I get a call from my current squeeze. She's just talked to a friend who was also a very brief roomie of "her" after our split. She's breaking up with the baby daddy. There's a custody fight. He's saying he doesn't know if it's his. Will I help her? Well, it's the right thing to do, so even though I don't trust or particularly like her, I say yes. I get the call, and a sob story. Most of it doesn't add up--he took the kid, but thinks it's actually mine, to prove paternity I'd need to come to NY and take a paternity test at one of their facilities, also he hit her, put a GPS tracker on her car, brother is a Russian mobster who threatened her, all very far-fetched. Needless to say, even without this fanciful tale, I generally assume if this woman is talking, it's a lie, so I'm suspicious. Her lawyer calls me, and seems like a clueless shmuck. I get a letter from him, very unprofessional and not even on a letterhead (every other legal doc I've seen has "from the law offices of blah blah" on it, but this is literally just off a laser printer), and says, verbatim "I, M___ K___, am the ex-husband of J___ K___, and was married to her from 6/07-8/09. I have no legal interest in the child." Super shady.

Not wanting to end up in a situation where I've allowed myself to be legally fucked over, I make my own lawyer consultation appointment. Before I can even go, the baby daddy finds me on Facebook and sends me a message. Between calls with him, his lawyer, and the impartial lawyer NY state appoints for the child's welfare, I get a very different story. He knows it's his, he had a paternity test done on the sly at birth because she had been promiscuous before they got together, and she was pregnant so quickly he was concerned. They broke up because she was drinking too much, he busted her with a bottle of vodka as she was driving with the kid in the car. She stood up in court, claimed I was actually the father, and she had no idea where to find me (he found me in 10 seconds online, I'm a tech guy with massive social media presence, a tech blog, multiple writing credits on publications, my frigging name as a domain, plus I've had the same cell phone number for 14 years). Also the other BS was just that, he's an IT guy for a university and his brother works for a carpet cleaning chain, plus just like in our relationship, he never hit or stalked her, etc.

So she, not knowing what I know, starts sending me text messages. I say "Filled out and on its way back to your lawyer," and toss it in the trash. I'm so tempted to send her some poetic message about how the truth is coming back to haunt her, but I resist, because I'm not doing this for her, but rather for the sake of their son and his father, so let's keep my ego out of it. I provide legal statements to all in the court. Tell them I know it's not possibly mine because I hadn't been with her since April 15 of '08, kid's birthday is in Sept of '09 (I remember the date because, due to taxes, I got fucked twice that day). Explain when she was in NY, which is the likely dates of conception, prove I was thousands of miles away on the west coast. Tell them to look through her social media, where she meticulously tagged herself and took tons of pictures of even their mundane locations. Provide a blood sample to a local lab. Tell them salacious details about her drinking and occasional drug use, including her abused prescriptions and a previous hospitalization where she was held for psych eval due to taking way too many pills.

Court comes, and she gets blindsided. Stack of depositions and a collection of statements from me were what sealed the deal, apparently, and the incredibly stupid game she was running is fully exposed. Gets no custody, no support, supervised visitation once a week. I run into her ex-roomie, upset, but instead of giving her attitude, I just calmly tell her the scam J__ was running, then let her "pull out of me" the truth about our split. She's flabbergasted, but also a horrible gossip, so it gets around town like wildfire. People I barely know, including the aforementioned biker, all come up to me and apologize for misjudging me. I'm years past the stage of having any morbid curiosity to check her social media, but every few months she pops up as a "suggested friend," and I notice bemusedly the number of mutual friends plummets from triple digits to eventually 3. Baby's father sends me a massive Amex gift card for Christmas, as much as I make in a week at the time. I call and tell him I don't know if I can accept it, I don't want him or anyone to think I did this for a reward. He virtually begs, saying "you helped save my family. This is nothing in comparison. Thank you." We break down crying on the phone, and eventually form an odd, distant friendship based on mutual respect for each other. I even had dinner with him a couple times when I had to go to NY for biz over the years, and I always buy, because the poor guy has done enough and gone through enough having to coparent with this train wreck.

To this day, she's apparently struggling to stay sober (alcohol and other substances), and has minimal involvement in her child's life due to her inability to show up when expected. Baby daddy tells me she's been in legal trouble, financial issues up the ass, and a string of boyfriends that never last more than a few months. I'm doing well, got married again three years ago, raised step-children, am reasonably financially successful, and rather like my life. Granted, a large part of this story is just karma in action, but I feel like I did the right thing, wasn't petty, and what I did do hit her where it hurts.

TL;DR: Ex-wife fucks my life, destroys me financially, tries to trash my reputation, then tries to use me as a scheme in her custody battle years later. I talk to the court directly, work with the baby daddy's lawyers, and get her exposed for the psycho, lying wench she is. She loses custody, struggles, and the good people live mostly happily ever after.

I Can’t Believe We’re Here - “I don’t know how to tell you this, Detective, but I’d like to introduce you to Jamie. Your daughter.” A post 3x05 fix-it fic, in which Maggie has a surprise daughter and the characters and plot are all A+ (currently incomplete but READ IT ANYWAY. 12 chapters, 71k words)

Spin Doctor (Grown Ass Woman) - Maggie doesn’t really talk to other people while she’s at the spin studio – she’s not, as they say, there to make friends – but everyone tends to do friendly nods and say hi, especially in the locker room, and she does the same. So she’s gotten know most of the teachers and many of the other morning clients by sight. So she’s sure this is the first time she’s seen this new woman. She’d definitely have remembered someone like that. (complete, 9 chapters, 37k words)

Lexie (Five-Inch Heels) - “I’m Lexie,” she says, and it’s clearly a fake name but that doesn’t bother Maggie. She’ll only need to know a legal name if this girl ever gets booked and Maggie has to intervene. She hopes it never comes up.

“Nice to meet you, Lexie.”

Lexie just stares at her, and Maggie can’t tell if she’s smirking of if it’s a trick of the light.

“Sure it is,” she finally says, and oh, yes, she was smirking.

Maggie decides to forgo delicate, and asks her next question bluntly, her hands back in her pockets. “What brings you out tonight?”

“Astronomy.” Lexie deadpans. “Been a while since I’ve last stargazed; thought I’d commune with nature and all that shit.” (complete, 4 chapters, 10k words)

I just finished Battlestar Galactica

It was a wonderful show but.

what was that ending?

You expect me to believe an advanced spacefaring civilization with space guns and robot slaves and TOILETS is gonna give that all up in favor of scratching their asses with sticks and romping in the wilderness with natives?

I don't believe that for two seconds.

And they never really explained what Starbuck was.

I'm mad about that.

One of the coolest most mind boggling discoveries ever and she's an...angel.

Or something.

I don't know, there's a god somewhere.

A god that sent Angels to humans who keep doing dumb shit.

Oh also this same god has a sexy model woman and a short little imp in a suit that walk amongst humans until the next big disaster.

What a hoot.

I just choose to believe that Battlestar Galactica ended right when they jumped to Earth.

Right there.

They ended it when Starbuck guides them to earth and the credits roll.

At least then you just have to deal with the fact that Cavill inexplicably shoots himself in the mouth and all the bad cylons just die.

And then the good ones just...go into the sun or they just go their own separate ways and live with their fellow stick bum scratchers.

Ack.

I loved this show and I really really did love the journey I went on with them and I appreciate the wonderful characters and fascinating narrative, but the religious stuff was just way too ham fisted.

Especially with Gaius preaching to an atheist.

Like really, a guy who hates being human and prides himself on being mechanical is going to believe Gaius frigging Baltar, moron of Kobol, and say hey listen let's not kill humans and we'll just leave peacefully.

That scene was terrible and the lead up to it was like three seasons worth of lead up for nothing.

The kid didn't really get the kind of really cool resolution she deserved either.

I thought maybe she was going to grow up hyper fast or show that she was like a demigod or something but her role was really just to get rescued.

Before that at least she showed them the coordinates to earth for Starbuck to interpret.

But going to save the kid on the Base ship, I mean, her role was to be there. She herself didn't do anything.

So.

Hm.

I did still love Battlestar despite that ending.

"god did it" endings always rile me up.

But the ending...well I dunno.

I thought Babylon 5 had a weak ending, but at least Babylon mixed religion with a logical and political thing to do most of the time.

That whole "believe in faith" thing was so glitzy.

The only thing that prevented the show from sliding into philosophical drivel was the pragmatist humans and the very personal human drama that kept the show grounded.

Gaius Baltar talking down a cylon who prides himself on reason by appealing to a higher power is just weird.

Plus it sort of ruined the big ending battle scene by having it be resolved by just killing all the bad guys and letting the good guys win.

There wasn't really a compromise or an understanding or underlying message, just kind of this weak "be nice to your toasters" thing.

Plus it did that weird "150k years later" thing.

Exactly the plot I hated in Babylon five's final episode of season 4.

Make a story as complex as you want. But don't resolve everything with "it was the will of God."

Don't make fate out to be some kind of character map that couldn't be avoided if you tried.

I feel like Battlestar was sooo well written ...but then that ending just didn't quite satisfy everything I wanted from the resolved plot.

And you know what?

I don't like resets.

I don't like the idea that I just dedicated three months of my life to a story that they imply is just going to repeat itself over and over again.

I don't like plots that unravel themselves and go back to square one.

Maybe other people like symmetry and things to connect, but I personally like stories with solid endings that resolve all character conflicts, end all story arcs, and ultimately provide an experience that feels bitter, but sweet.

All we got was that all of the struggles of human kind to get to earth...well it was destined so.

No real worries. Humans will always survive.

Cylons will always take over, cuz humans are always bad.

And humans will find another planet to fuck up.

It's just...

Gah.

I'm not sure if I liked Babylon more now.

I'll think about it, get back to you.

Harry doesn’t quite meet his eyes when he turns to look at Louis. But, Louis notices his jaw tick and his eyes close briefly before saying: “I think I should help.”

And, well, okay.

Who are you and what business did you start?I’m Cory Stout, Captain of Woodies. I started a wood sunglasses brand when I was 28 years old.Our main product is walnut wood sunglasses that I sell for $25 on Amazon and Woodies.com I hired one employee (my dear mother) and she’s won Employee of the Year for 3 years in a row ;)In 2018, I topped 3.5 million in revenue and somehow ended the year with less money than when I started! I bought a Bentley to celebrate…What's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?I studied Economics at the University of Florida but the real education was scalping football tickets outside of the stadium. I really learned my lessons on those streets...For example, there were a lot of characters I learned to deal with. The ticket street hustlers are really really sharp dudes. They would always ask to see my tickets, and make me offers on them.They would always lie about what they were holding, or what they were selling for. I had people steal my tickets, I had people try to muscle me off popular corners. The best thing about this experience was all the times I was told no.I would stand there for hours shouting ‘who needs tickets??’ and people would narrow their eyes at me and keep on walking. I learned that eventually, you’ll almost always find your customer. On the days when demand was high, I would return to my dorm room with 5 thousand in cash when I started the day with 500.I would buy student tickets all week, buy the upgrade sticker so anybody could use them, and sell them for mega profit on gameday. I made tons of money, I lost tons of money too (when it rained unexpectedly), I made friends and that’s what led to my next step.One of those tickets friends I made turned out to be my best friend. He went to China to study International Business and I went out to visit him a year later. I spent 6 weeks there and I go to see first hand how the world’s products are made.Some photos from my trip to China:Watch bandsI came up with the idea for an interchangeable watch brand, TIKKR, and I used my ticket money to get the ball rolling.To validate this idea, Mike flew from China with a bag full of watches. I was living in Austin at the time and we went to a party brunch to try to sell some watches. I gave one watch to each of the bartenders for free, then we waited.It wasn’t 15 minutes until we had a line of people offering to buy watches from us. We didn’t take their cash, but we drank free all afternoon long and had a hell of a time.I ordered 1,500 watches for $3 each and I set the price at $65. I barely sold any at $65, but I convinced Groupon to pick them up and offer a deal.A $65 watch for $32. I sold a couple hundred, I ordered more, I sold a couple hundred I ordered more. Then I sold a couple thousand in one day! Too bad the supplier was super late with the shipment and I had thousands of upset customers at Christmas time. TIKKR ended up folding leaving me back at square one with only about $15,000 to show for it all.Then I was back to China and this time I came back with the idea for wood sunglasses. Wood sunglasses were just coming on to the scene, We always had the first look at products coming out of China because we were always watching the markets in Guangzhou.We would see a cool looking belt show up at the markets, then a month later we’d see somebody on Kickstarter making 200k. Wood sunglasses seemed awesome so I tried to jump on them early. The same Groupon rep still wanted to work with me, and I was able to sell 8,000 glasses in a week with a launch on Groupon. On a side note, that Groupon rep worked out a deal for himself that he got to invest in Woodies before the deal ran. I took the deal (what choice did I have) and I was able to buy him out a couple years later)By the way, I’ve written a couple posts on reddit about how I got started if you want to check them out...Buying and Selling in China: The New American Dream (2015)Every tool I use for my business (2017) A lot of these have changedI also did the Shopify Masters PodcastTake us through the process of designing, prototyping, and manufacturing your first product.I just went to China and found three suppliers on Alibaba. I toured each factory and chose the one I felt the best about.Price wasn’t the most important consideration. It really came down to a comfort level with the supplier. The rep that I would work with closely spoke great English, they presented themselves well, they showed me their equipment and let me tour the factory while they were in production.PRO TIP: If you visit a Chinese factory, ask politely to the use the bathroom. They will have to oblige, and if you find a really messy, disgusting bathroom, then it’s definitely a red flag.Granted, there are a lot of disgusting bathrooms all over China. But these factories have millions of dollars worth of machinery, if they can’t put together a decent bathroom for their workers, then they are probably corner-cutters.They had a whole wall of every sunglasses shape you could imagine, it didn’t take a lot of designing on my end.Describe the process of launching the business.From there, I noticed that a lot of people were getting rich on Kickstarter, so I decided to launch a project to add new styles to Woodies. They were actually all the same style, but I wanted to add 7 new colors to the collection. I really just needed an excuse to launch a Kickstarter campaignI set my sights high and decided I wanted to hire Kendall Jenner for the video shoot. It started out as a joke really.My friend was kind of daring me to find out what her rate was. I just called her management, and next thing you know I’m negotiating with her agent.I got them down from 150k to 25k. 25k was just about all the money I had in the world, but I bet it on this idea. At this point, I’m basically the dude from Fyre Festival, walking around pretending like I had enough money to pull this off. I hired a really good photographer, videographer, hair, makeup, extra set hands, cool locations, classic cars, plane tickets, it was SO CRAZY, but somehow I pulled it off.I organized the whole photo/video shoot, I picked Kendall up from her house that morning wearing my captains hat, and we had a full day of driving classic cars, taking pictures on the Malibu beaches, and doing our best to capture the essence of Woodies and the new sunglasses.The Kickstarter project wasn’t a huge success, but it kept me going long enough to start selling on Amazon. I found a new supplier and started making wood sunglasses with plastic frames. They were cheaper to make and sell and the bonus was they didn’t break as often.Warranty issues were a huge headache with the full wood sunglasses (and still are).Wood sunglasses have less tensile strength than plastic. They are better for the environment overall, but a little less durable for the user. I started out with full wood sunglasses, but the return rate was nearly 20%, impossible to really turn a profit without a bunch of 1-star reviews. So I switched to mostly wood temple glasses with a plastic frame. This brought my costs down and my return percentage to about 5%. And now I could enable my customer service to send new sunglasses no questions asked, which resulted in lots of 5-star reviews about our customer service team.Well they took off on Amazon and I dedicated myself to becoming an Amazon expert. I listened to all the podcasts and read all the blog posts I could find. Shoutout EcomCrew I took the basic fundamentals that are out there and I added a couple of my own twists. That was about two years ago. Since then, I’ve just been really diligent about staying in stock major key and managing my PPC spending.Since launch, what has worked to attract and retain customers?I have basic knowledge of Facebook ads, email marketing, SEO, etc but Amazon just really really works for me, so I didn’t have the big incentive to build a huge list.Amazon brings me 100 brand new customers everyday for very little acquisition cost. If I tried that on my own, it would take a TON of work and it wouldn’t be nearly as effective as Amazon, so I took the easy road on this one.I wrote this post about Amazon strategy not too long ago, I followed all of my own advice.How are you doing today and what does the future look like?Business is doing great today, we almost reached 4 million in sales last year, even though my profit on that was a lot lower than you’d think.Less than 10% of that number actually counts as profit on my books. So the entire business is being threatened by them.Through starting the business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?Believe in yourself and just keep going no matter what. Of all the friends who started a business at the same time I did, almost all of them are still in business and doing really well. If you just stay in business, you almost can’t help but grow.I read the 4-Hour Workweek many many years ago and it really set my thinking from day one. I just wanted to be really really good at one thing, and that’s what happened with my best selling product. I was able to ‘set’ the market.Once I did that, no one would be able to:Beat my priceOutnumber my reviewsOutspend me on PPC.The distance between me and 2nd place on Amazon got bigger and bigger.I wanted a simple business, I wanted it to be automated, I wanted to be able to run it from anywhere. It took a lot of discipline to turn down ‘good’ deals sometimes.But I decided simplicity was that important to me. It’s only really possible with an Amazon business with FBA. I remember the old days when I had to use a 3PL, 2/7 would not recommend.I don’t sell on Etsy, Ebay, or Wal-Mart (even though they wrote me an unsolicited PO). I don’t sell to retail stores. The one time I broke this rule was trying to expand to Europe on Amazon. I wouldn’t call it a disaster, but it took way more time/energy than it has paid off. I’m closing down those operations currently.I hired my mom as my customer service rep 3 years ago and the business absolutely flourished once she took over. 1. It let me focus on sales and growth 2. Everything we do in our daily lives – from grocery shopping to car insurance, is now driven by technology. With industry giants like Amazon dominating their markets with innovative technology solutions that feed our desire to get what we want as soon as possible, there’s a turning tide in the property industry for technology-driven solutions.

PropTech is the new buzzword to describe the collision of property and technology – we’re no longer looking to buy, sell, rent or let property using outdated methods such as an advert in the local paper or by word of mouth.

Here are some home truths, which suggest lettings will move from bricks to clicks:

92% of tenants start their search online

56% do so on mobile devices (up 3x over the past 12 months)

39% of tenants enquire outside of normal office hours

Of the 150k properties coming onto the rental market every month (and rising), more landlords now choose not to employ a high-street agent, and would rather use online agents or similar businesses.

“Lettings will move from bricks to clicks.”

Tenants, particularly those under 30 years old (who are the largest demographic in the market), are searching online for their next home, not in agent’s shop windows. This shift not only paves the way for online agents, like Upad, it also means landlords need to become technology-savvy and up their game. As much as the Yellow Pages is a thing of the past, traditional lettings services will soon be too, as landlords turn to more manageable and cost-effective solutions for promoting their rental properties.

“Those offering superior customer service will drive change and win new business – across many sectors, not just in lettings.”

However, the lettings market is not an ecommerce platform at large. This is something that other online agents and PropTech companies get wrong- by offering a self-serve platform built by developers and coders, it will only gain traction with a small pool of early adopter customers. Those offering superior customer service will drive change and win new business – across many sectors, not just in lettings. We all want stuff now. We don’t want to wait several days when ordering something online. We expect an answer when submitting a question online through live chat or email. We expect businesses to be open 24/7. We expect businesses to have a customer care team who understand what they are selling. PropTech companies who don’t offer this are unlikely to ever become true disrupters – the key is customer service, empowerment and knowledge to go hand-in-hand with technology.

Most landlords need educating or empowering – as they are either fairly new to buy-to-let (over half have been a landlord for less than 5 years), or operating as such in their spare time – and this leads into the need to offer superior customer service and support, which are key to succeeding. Landlords need trusted guidance, and they need to be aware of potential pitfalls and how to get the most out of their rental business. Getting a property onto Rightmove & Zoopla is an important part, but only a small part of what is needed to let a property.

Particularly, tenancy agreements are a minefield for landlords. Requests of what customers want adding in and previous versions that are sent across from their previous high street agent, is an eye-watering area of concern; frequently they are outdated, un-enforceable – or both! Then there’s the raft of legislation that landlords must follow- if a landlord doesn’t protect a deposit they could face a hefty fine and failing to provide certain documentation such as the EPC and Gas Safety Certificate will prevent a landlord from serving a Section 21 notice.

Landlords also need to consider that when advertising online, it’s less about the rental price now. Since starting in 2000, Rightmove has claimed an astonishing 77% share of the fast-growing online property portal market. Much like how organisations now adjust their online strategies to the tune of Google’s algorithms, landlords should now begin adjusting their approach to be more effective on Rightmove. Success is now driven by how much that property stands out online – and that it doesn’t succumb to the ‘swipe effect’ when tenants scroll through property listings on their mobile device.

“It’s imperative to empower landlords to self-serve and educate them on how to be digital property marketing gurus.”

In a recent survey, 91% of tenants would place photography as the single most important part of an online listing. You could be advertising a stately home in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but without well-composed photography it won’t get the attention it deserves. When posting shots of your property, it is important to paint the fullest possible picture of the space. Online users want all the information and they want it quick. Provide different aspects, including key features, exits and views. Don’t go ahead with the shoot if it is dark – natural light is something renters will be attracted to. And make sure the property is clean and presentable – dressing the beds but removing personal belongings will make it look homely but not lived in.

It’s imperative to empower landlords to self-serve and educate them on how to be digital property marketing gurus. Throughout Upad, we have put the customer at the heart of all of our operations – with a ‘new model’ which is completely customer-focused but also innovative in its technology solutions. The high street is only surviving with its current market share because of customer inertia – landlords should be doing due diligence on their agents. Lettings is an increasing dynamic like many other areas of life – we should be rating our existing marketing channel or agent by their response times, servicing levels, their digital marketing skills and fees, for example – just as we do with insurance, utilities and mobile phones. I see the lettings sector reaching a tipping point imminently, where PropTech will take root from its green shoots at present.

i cannot fucking WAIT until i live on my own because jfc i HATE having roommates, even if i have my own bedroom.

literally every year i’ve ever had a roommate, there have problems.

see:

freshman yr: lived with 5 girls in a suite at an overpriced private college in downtown boston and all five of them were elitist, rich, snobby, entitled, annoying, and sometimes just downright mean. (not to me, but to one of the other roommates, whom they all collectively bullied for no reason--and although i didn’t like that particular girl either, i’m on the best terms with her now out of the five of them because at least she wasn’t mean.) ALSO, it didn’t help that they ran completely opposite sleep schedules as me, so they would stay up all night every night when i was trying to sleep (and i don’t go to bed early by any means)...and the next day I would have to tiptoe around because they would sleep until 2 pm or later. i wish this was an exaggeration, but it isn’t. did they do much learning or go to class? that’s a no from me.

sophomore year 1st semester: actually, these girls were OK to live with at the time...but after I transferred colleges things got ugly (this overpriced private college in downtown boston was too much money for me even with a scholarship and student loans--i would have ended up with about 150k in debt if i’d continued going there). basically i transferred at semester at the very last second so the girls were salty because a random girl apparently took my place the next semester. we all thought they’d have an empty space because it was so last-minute but i forgot, this overpriced private school is ~sooo elite~ so everyone wants to go there and live on-campus so of course within a week after i left they had a stranger taking up that empty spot. it’s really not my fault but to this day those girls are bitter with me. not my fault i don’t want to go to your bullshit school anymore. i left my speakers in the suite last year and recently i texted one of the girls asking if i could have them back but she straight-up didn’t respond to me. so i guess i’m never getting those back, which is cool.

sophomore year 2nd semester: since i transferred so last-minute i was stuck with a random group of girls--go figure, in a suite again--and ironically, although i liked two of them, it was the girl whose room i was actually sharing that i didn’t like. apparently the three of them were all best friends and the fourth friend was studying abroad in paris, so i was taking that girl’s place while she was gone. it was very clear from the beginning that i was a replacement, and nothing more than that. none of them really made an attempt to even TRY to get to know me. like i said, two of them were nice enough, but we were never really friends. and my roommate, well...let’s just say that she had a tendency not to flush the toilet. she was pretty bitchy and standoffish towards me, probably because i was sleeping in her bestie’s bed and she was bitter because she wanted the room to herself and got stuck with a random. which i get, but don’t take it out on me. i don’t like the arrangement any more than you do--i wanted a single, for fuck’s sake. luckily she was out a lot of the time so i didn’t have to deal with her that much, but when i did have to, i was filled with dread. she just always gave me such an icky feeling, like i was unwanted. i was always under the impression she talked shit about me to people. i was never mean to her but i wasn’t the friendliest, either. i was only giving what i was receiving--you know how it is.

junior year: i’m now in a beautiful apartment and i have my own bedroom, which is awesome. i’m so fucking thankful. that being said, i still hate the roommates i have, save for one who is a good friend of mine, but of course he’s the only one who’s NEVER home. i’ve got the girl i share a bathroom with, who is very nice when you talk to her but she’s fake as fuck and her girlfriend is over practically every day. technically, the lease says you’re only allowed to have people overnight three times a week, and she definitely pushes that limit. my roommate is probably home about three days a week, and whenever she is there, her girlfriend is, too. my friends and i laugh about it because it’s pretty hilarious how they’re the second oldest in the house (23) and yet they can’t spend a second apart, like they’re fucking children and they can’t function on their own or something. whenever my roommate isn’t home, those other three or four days, she’s at her girlfriend’s house. they literally don’t spend a day apart...it’s actually fucking pathetic. i also don’t remember signing up for sharing a bathroom with THREE people. her girlfriend’s stuff is always taking up the counter space. i wouldn’t care that much except that her girlfriend is completely rude to me, my friend who i mentioned that’s never home, and my boyfriend, THE FUCKING LANDLORD’S SON. it’s laughable, actually. my actual roommate is sweet as pie but her girlfriend is quite literally her foil--won’t smile, and won’t even say hi to you if you say hi to her. the girl has a lot of nerve considering my boyfriend has the power to keep her from ever coming over again, but that’s none of my business, right? oh, yeah, and another fun thing is that their room has the fire escape door in it, and it’s only supposed to be used for emergencies but they constantly use it to sneak in and out of the house. it locks from the outside so i imagine they keep the door propped. isn’t it cool when people leave the door open so any stranger can just walk in? there’s a reason why i lock my bedroom door whenever i leave no. not having my stuff stolen just because my roommate leaves her door open so her booty call can come up whenever. they’re probably the most inconsiderate tenants that i live with. and technically, one of them isn’t a tenant, but she could fool anyone. it also doesn’t help that because this roommate is always gone, she uses it as an excuse to not do anything around the house. no toilet paper in the bathroom? business trip. oh, the floors haven’t been swept in a while? won’t be back for another week, sorry. she pretends she’s so busy and important when she’s still in an entry-level job. we don’t even know who she works for but she pretends it’s this elite company or something. she always says she's going on “business trips” and says she’ll be gone for a week, but then i catch her coming home a day later, dashing to her room to grab something, and dashing back out a minute later hoping nobody will notice. yeah, she’s got business trips, all right...lesbian business. which, ok, i’m bisexual myself--just don’t pretend you’re something you’re not. that is--don’t pretend you’re an adult with “business” to attend to when you’re really just at your girlfriend’s house, shooting the shit. don’t pretend you’re an adult when you’re an immature, irresponsible child whose immediate gratifications are more important than breaking the lease. and the whole time, of course, she pretends she’s the mature one in the house, acting like she’s got so much to do. one time she was keeping her bike inside the house when that’s against the lease and the landlord told her to move it outside. she didn’t listen and two weeks later, the landlord got stern with her--not even mean, stern--and she replied that she was busy and that she’d move it in a week when she got back from a “trip”. she got back and it was still there. the landlord got very aggressive this time, obviously, because she’s breaking the lease and he told her twice. and then after all that, she had the nerve to text him that she was “having a good time with my friends on a saturday night” and that “seeing a message like this really ruined my evening :/” as if he should be ashamed or feel guilty for spoiling HER night. as if she doesn’t regularly spoil everyone else’s nights with her girlfriend’s bitchy unwanted presence. yeah, ok.

then there’s the spoiled rich girl i used to be friends with when i first moved in. she hung out with my friends and i, no problem, and suddenly she decided she didn’t like us anymore and began to just ignore us. she’s a fucking photography student--and nothing wrong with that, of course--but every weekend when we asked her to hang out, she’d say that she was way too busy with schoolwork. she would always claim she needed to “go home” (her parents’ house is about half an hour away from school and the apartment) on weekends to take pictures for homework assignments, but that never made much sense because if anything, she has way more potential for art projects here because we’re just outside downtown boston. her parents house is in the middle of fucking nowhere--i guess she just takes pictures of trees for all her assignments, right? nah. she goes home so she can spend time with her degenerate boyfriend who dropped out of community college TWICE--not because he couldn’t afford it or he wasn’t smart, but because he was too lazy to do the work and just didn’t want to go to class. he’s a manager at CVS, so he’s obviously very important and is only available on weekends. funny, now that he doesn’t go to school, half the time he’s just hanging out at the apartment in her room even when she’s not home, just twiddling his thumbs or whatever. she used to always say she hated his friends, and yet whenever she went home “to take pictures for her assignments” she would be posting snapchats and instagram posts with them. but yeah, she’s too busy for us. i never used to judge her for being a photography student, but now that she’s decided to be bitchy for no reason, i can’t help but laugh at how pathetic she is. the only reason she does it at all is because she’s got rich parents whose money she can fall back on if her career as an instagram photographer falls through. :) must be nice. but beyond that, she really just is kind of a shitty and cowardly person. she doesn’t confront anyone--she’s the type to just avoid people and hope that the problem resolves itself. i should have known from the beginning, really, because last year her friend wanted to rent the apartment with her but just randomly stopped replying to the landlord’s messages. couldn’t even be bothered to say “thanks, but no thanks”. later on when we confronted him, he claimed he was having problems with depression and anxiety. i would sympathize, but shit, i’ve gone through that too, and that’s no fucking excuse for ghosting on the fucking LANDLORD. it truly is childish, no matter the circumstances. it takes about five seconds to say “sorry but no thanks, i’m no longer interested”. seriously. if she’s friends with people like that, i should have known she was like that, too. guess we’re finding out the hard way. lately, her boyfriend has been coming over late at night, even during weeknights, and they stay up until 3 am smoking pot with her bedroom window cracked. i’m a smoker myself, but even i am not stupid enough to open windows with the heat on in the middle of winter. it can freeze the pipes, and it jacks up the heat bill--the past two months we’ve each had to pay about 40 bucks for heat when we were using the same amount of heat in october and paying 15 bucks each--and there’s five of us so you can imagine how big that heat bill is. i know it’s this girl who’s causing it to rise because we are at school or work half the time and aren't using the heat that much comparatively to other homes. this is also the same person who cranks the heat up at night, of all times, because little miss princess gets cold at night. makes no damn sense, because when you’re sleeping, you can’t TELL that’s it’s cold, especially when you’re buried under blankets. it’s funny that she can crank the heat up whenever, but refuses to buy a thick comforter. it’s not like she doesn’t have the money. she doesn’t care about the heat because she only has to pay 1/5 of the total, and the roommates cover the rest. why should the rest of us suffer? it means nothing to her anyway because mommy and daddy cover everything, including utilities, so it doesn’t matter to her that the heat bill is literally outrageous. oh, and i should mention that in the beginning of the year we assumed she would re-rent the apartment next year, and in november we asked her when she was re-signing only for her to basically say “oh, i’m not renting again next year, i want to live with my friends”. as if we weren't her REAL friends. who knows when we would have found that out if we hadn’t asked about it--i’ve never met someone as afraid of confrontation as her. she’s a silver spoon kid, so once again, i should have known that she wouldn’t bother to tell us she was leaving. she’s entitled to the point that she never considers anyone else’s feelings or situations. it’s me, me, me with her. in hindsight, thank fucking god she’s not re-signing, if not for the cheaper heat bill.

I realize this is getting hella long and bitchy and ranty and i don’t want my 10 porn bot followers to unfollow me so i’ll try to wrap it up.

the last roommate comparatively isn’t that bad--she’s just a walking paradox, a genius yet a complete idiot. she’s like some crazy chemistry major in grad school at a local university. she’s a TA, which is hilarious to me because when you see her, she doesn’t at all come off as authoritative. she’s petite and mousy-looking, completely innocent and soft-spoken. she’s 24 years old and she doesn’t drink, smoke, or party (which is cool), but she has no social life other than going to the lab to do research and going to bed at 9 pm on a saturday night. this is no exaggeration, either. on her 24th birthday, my friends and i brought up some cookies for her and knocked on her door at 9:45. she comes out in her pajamas looking completely exhausted and goes, “oh sorry, i was sleeping”. she takes the cookies without so much as a thank you and goes back to bed. the sad thing is, she’s bitchy but she doesn’t even intend to be--she’s just so socially awkward that she comes off that way. i don’t mean to be offensive, but i have a serious theory that she’s on the spectrum. she can function, and she’s very book-smart, but her people skills are lacking to the point that she reminds me of a high school friend who has asberger’s. if this girl has it, i wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. in the entire time i’ve known her i think she’s had a friend over one time, and that was because she was staying at that friend’s house over thanksgiving since it’s expensive to go back to nebraska or wherever the fuck her family is now. (they’re a military family so they move a lot.) one might feel bad for her--which i sometimes do--but then i remember that she can be legitimately bitchy sometimes. she’s also a complete slob. over the summer when she first moved in, i was staying at cape cod with my boyfriend, but we found out through my boyfriend’s dad (who works outside of boston for the fire department) that she didn’t know how to use the fucking garbage disposal. he also said that when he came up to the apartment to check on something (they remodelled and put in new floors over the summer) he saw that there were three giant bags of garbage in the kitchen that were just casually stacked up, and they reeked. apparently, this girl doesn’t understand the concept of taking out the trash. additionally, that same summer, she texted the landlord asking for toilet paper and then for a lightbulb, thinking an apartment was like a hotel where they provide everything. she really has no idea how the real world works to the point that it seems like a joke, but it really fucking isn’t. although admittedly she’s gotten slightly better, she’s still a complete pig. she knows it, too, but at the very least she’s smart enough to claim that she’s “always busy” with her work so that she has an excuse to be lazy and not clean up after herself. if she has enough spare time to be home at 6 sharp every night to make dinner and go to bed at 9 pm, she has five minutes to wipe down the kitchen table when she leaves crumbs behind. she still doesn’t understand the concept of cleaning up after herself after we’ve reminded her countless times. it’s a lost cause, really. in january one of the roommates and i decided to make a chore chart because it’s very clear that only a couple of us do any work around the house. we texted a picture of it in the group chat and this roommate had the gall to say “ok, but someone needs to remind me when it’s my turn to do something”. Like ?????? you're 24 years old, you’re a grown woman and we shouldn’t have to baby you???? put it in your calendar or something like the rest of us????? we shouldn’t be responsible for you?????? things like that just make me really, really glad we’re kicking her out next year. yes, kicking. like i said, she is socially inept to the extreme. in spite of none of us talking to her or giving her the time of day, she thinks we’re all friends and that we like her. she assumed she would be re-signing the lease next year. of fucking course, she looooooves the apartment. she even said that she’d be “less of a bother” next year because she will be “even busier”. she doesn’t realize that that’s the exact opposite of what any of us want. translated, her statement means that she will be going to bed even earlier, being even more of a hermit whom we must tiptoe around, and she will be even more of a slob because she will be “too busy” (lazy) to clean. besides, my boyfriend, my other friend and i have been HOPING so BADLY to make friends with at least one of the other roommates. it sucks living with people and not being friends--it makes for awkward interactions. we WERE friends with the spoiled girl, which made it so much better living with her. until she decided to leave us for a couple of her dumpy art school friends, where she’ll probably be living in a slummy apartment in a crappy boston neighborhood. hope the rats and the mold are worth saving $200 on rent and having “real” friends to live with. really, knowing how spoiled she is, i can’t WAIT to see how long she’ll last before she comes crawling back to us.

ANYWAY.

so i think i’ve aired my dirty laundry, for now. i needed to rant about these people for a while. i bitch to my boyfriend sometimes about it but he gets mad at me and says i’m too negative, too cynical, that i need to just let it go. that the little things just don’t matter. well, they matter to me, because those little things add up until i explode and someone gets upset with me. i don’t like to upset people, even if i really don’t like them. i think even people I hate have feelings and just because i hate them, doesn’t mean other people don’t like them. you know? but anyway, ranting is how i relieve that tension, how i am able to keep from self-destructing. i think from now on i need to just start writing to relieve my anger because i’m sick of my boyfriend getting mad at me for venting.

i think i’ll start a private blog on here, the kind where you need a password to get in. i’ve tried other private online writing platforms but it’s just not the same. lately i’ve been seriously hating tumblr, because it has such a shitty rep, but i love the layout, i’ll admit it. so i think that’s what i’ll do.

i started this post with a completely different idea of what i wanted to write about than what i actually did write about--but i guess that’s what writing is about, right? finding your voice and all that? whatever. this isn’t even writing, really--it’s just ranting. all i ever do on this blog now is rant. i feel sorry for the, like, 2 followers i have that are real. they probably think the worst of me because all i do is post shit like this, LOL. it’s funny because if they saw me in person i’d be the last person they’d suspect of being this bitter and angry. oh well? i don’t care anymore. i don’t have the muscle mass in my hand to hand-write all of this in a journal. besides, there’s something infinitely more satisfying from typing it all knowing it’s stream-of-consciousness because i can type as fast as i think (thank you, transcription job, for allowing my typing speed to get up to 100 wpm)

...i think that’s all i want to write about on this post, for now. i’m considering making a private blog; if i do decide to go that route, i’ll probably make one more post just as a sort of good-bye, i guess, not that anyone will really notice or care. but yeah. and if i do go that route, i’ll invite whoever reads my posts and tolerates me to have my password so they can keep reading, if they want. but i doubt that will happen.
