🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favourite outdoor activity?

ah, yes, luminiţa "been told to leave the house and get a life" demetrescu, enjoying being in nature. truth be told, she doesn't like it for the most part. it was fine in karcau because it was quite overcast and a lot of the 'nature' were rivers and canals, but she'd much rather stay indoors where the light can't bother her as much. saying that, even her favourite outdoor activity is something that can be done indoors - reading. if she is forced to get some fresh air, she'll usually take a book with her and find a quiet place to read that isn't too bright. she's also take kindlie with her, since she somehow managed to train the cat to walk on a leash.

🕷️ SPIDER - what is their biggest fear? do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

lumi's biggest fear are dragons - which i think is fair enough considering there's a huge fuck off black dragon lurking in the swamps near karcau. her irrational fear is that she is really scared of her fangs falling out. she keeps having dreams about it when she's stressed and every time she wakes up, she immediately rushes to the nearest mirror to check they're still there. it's not even like she uses them to bite!!

leonelle is not one to believe in love at first sight. she considers it foolish. if she wants a relationship, then she wants a woman with arrogance and the ability to back it up, someone charismatic and not afraid to get their hands dirty.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

so talking about the transition from vtm to pathfinder, i very much wanted to keep certain elements in tact: one of them actually being her relationship with her sire (now her father in pathfinder) - in vtm, leonelle was his pawn for a long time, as childer often tend to be, and her sire was an ambitious sabbat cardinal. so actually, the first thing i 'decided' about leonelle was her father - claude was his original name, but switched it to the more chelish sounding claudio - being an ambitious cardinal of asmodeus; once i had that in place, leonelle's background came together quite easily.

Pope Francis created 13 new Cardinals on October 5, 2019, reminding them that “compassion” is a keyword in the gospel.

“In the Gospels, we often see Jesus’ compassion for those who are suffering,” the Holy Father recalled. “The more we read, the more we contemplate, the more we come to realize that the Lord’s compassion is not an occasional, sporadic emotion, but is steadfast and indeed seems to be the attitude of his heart, in which God’s mercy is made incarnate.

“God’s love for his people is drenched with compassion, to the extent that, in this covenant relationship, what is divine is compassionate, while, sad to say, it appears that what is human is so often lacking in compassion.”

The Holy Father explained that even the apostles sometimes lacked compassion. And he reminded those present that no one has compassion simply because of the position they hold in life.

“At this point, we can ask ourselves: are we conscious – we, in the first place – of having been the object of God’s compassion?” Francis asked. “In a particular way, I ask this of you, brother cardinals and those about to become cardinals: do you have a lively awareness of always having been preceded and accompanied by his mercy?”

The “creation” of the new Cardinals took place at 4 pm in the Vatican Basilica, where the Holy Father held an Ordinary Public Consistory for the creation of 13 new Cardinals, for the imposition of the cap, the handing over of the ring and the assignment of the Title or Diakonia.

The celebration began with the greeting, the prayer and the reading of a passage from the Gospel according to Mark (6,30-37a). Then the Pope gave the homily.

The Holy Father then read the formula of creation and solemnly proclaimed the names of the new cardinals, announcing the presbyteral or diaconal order. The Rite continued with the profession of faith of the new Cardinals before the people of God and the oath of fidelity and obedience to Pope Francis and his successors.

The new cardinals, according to the order of creation, knelt before the Holy Father who imposed the skullcap and cardinal hat on them, gave the ring and assigned to each a church of Rome as a sign of participation in the pastoral care of the Pope in Urbe.

After the delivery of the Bull of cardinality and the assignment of the Title or Diakonia, the Holy Father Francis exchanges the embrace of peace with each new Cardinal.

The following is the text of the Homily that the Holy Father Francis pronounced during the Consistory:

At the heart of the Gospel, we have just heard (Mk 6:30-37) is the “compassion” of Jesus (cf. 34). Compassion is a keyword in the Gospel. It is written in Christ’s heart; it is forever written in the heart of God.

In the Gospels, we often see Jesus’ compassion for those who are suffering. The more we read, the more we contemplate, the more we come to realize that the Lord’s compassion is not an occasional, sporadic emotion, but is steadfast and indeed seems to be the attitude of his heart, in which God’s mercy is made incarnate.

Mark, for example, tells us that when Jesus first passed through Galilee preaching and casting out demons, “a leper came to him begging him, and kneeling said to him, ‘If you choose, you can make me clean’. Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, ‘I do choose. Be made clean!’” (1:40-42). In this gesture and with these words, we see the mission of Jesus, the Redeemer of mankind. He is a compassionate Redeemer. He incarnates God’s will to purify men and women afflicted by the scourge of sin; he is “the outstretched hand of God”, who touches our sickly flesh and accomplishes this work by bridging the chasm of separation.

Jesus goes out in search of the outcast, those without hope. People like the man paralyzed for thirty-eight years who lay beside the pool of Bethzatha, waiting in vain for someone to bring him to the waters (cf. Jn 5:1-9).

This compassion did not appear suddenly at one moment in the history of salvation. No, it was always there in God, impressed on his paternal heart. We see it in the account of the calling of Moses when God spoke from the burning bush and said: “I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry… indeed, I know their sufferings” (Ex 3:7).

God’s love for his people is drenched with compassion, to the extent that, in this covenant relationship, what is divine is compassionate, while, sad to say, it appears that what is human is so often lacking in compassion. God himself says so: “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? … My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender… For I am God and no mortal, the holy one in your midst, and I will not come in wrath” (Hos 11:8-9).

Jesus’ disciples often show themselves lacking compassion, as in this case, when they are faced with the problem of having to feed the crowds. In effect, they say: “Let them worry about it themselves…” This is a common attitude among us human beings, even those of us who are religious persons or even religious “professionals”. The position we occupy is not enough to make us compassionate, as we see in the conduct of the priest and Levite who, seeing a dying man on the side of the road, pass to the other side (cf. Lk 10:31-32). They would have thought: “It’s not up to me”. There are always justifications; at times they are even codified and give rise to “institutional disregard”, as was the case with lepers: “Of course, they have to keep their distance; that is the right thing to do”. This all too human attitude also generates structures lacking compassion.

At this point we can ask ourselves: are we conscious – we, in the first place – of having been the object of God’s compassion? In a particular way, I ask this of you, brother cardinals and those about to become cardinals: do you have a lively awareness of always having been preceded and accompanied by his mercy? This awareness was always present in the immaculate heart of the Virgin Mary, who praises God as her “Saviour”, for he “looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant” (Lk 1:48).

I find it helpful to see myself reflected in the passage of Ezekiel 16 that speaks of God’s love for Jerusalem. It concludes with the words: “I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord, in order that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I forgive you all that you have done” (Ezek 16:62-63). Or again, in that other prophecy of Hosea: “I will bring her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her… There shall she respond as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt (2:14-15).

Do we have a lively awareness of this compassion that God feels for us? It is not something optional, or a kind of “evangelical counsel”. No, it is essential. Unless I feel that I am the object of God’s compassion, I cannot understand his love. This is not a reality that can be explained. Either I feel it or I don’t. Today, let us implore, through the intercession of the apostle Peter, the grace to have a compassionate heart, in order to be witnesses of the One who has looked with favor upon us, who chose us, consecrated us and sent us to bring to everyone his Gospel of salvation.

Iligan rolls out COVID-19 vax for first batch of health workers

ILIGAN CITY, Mar. 8 (PIA)--The inoculation of the initial batch of the city’s medical frontliners commenced today following the arrival of 900 Sinovac vaccines Saturday, March 6.

First hospitals to spearhead the vaccination program are Greogorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH), the only public hospital in the city, and Adventist Medical Center-Iligan (AMCI), the first hospital in the city to cater COVID-19.

The City Health Office (CHO) through its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) bared that with the given initial Sinovac doses, 485 for GTLMH and 505 for AMCI frontliners will be vaccinated which is foreseen to last for two to three days.

“Dako namong pasalamat sa inyong institusyon and the rest of you who will be taking up the challenge na magdawat sa bakuna karon. Karon ang panahon nga kamo na pud ang unahon para mahatagan sa proteksyon nga atong gikinahanglan tanan,” said Dr. Tristan Labitad of the Department of Health-10 (DOH-10).

[We are thankful to your institution and the rest of you who will be taking up the challenge of receiving the vaccination today. Now is the time to prioritize you in giving protection that we all need.]

Meanwhile, GTLMH Chief Dr. Richillo Daguman, the first frontliner in his hospital to be vaccinated, firmly called on the public to also get vaccinated to overcome the pandemic. 

“Gi-encourage nako tanan dili lang sa City Hospital, sa tibuok Iligan nga magpabakuna kay para ma-solve nato ang pandemic. Mao ni ang atong last battle against COVID na problem. Dapat magpabakuna ta. Kung naa pay nagduha-duha, hinaot nga ma-enlighten na sila aron magpabakuna na sila,” Daguman conveyed.

[I am encouraging everyone not just the City Hospital but also the whole Iligan to get vaccinated so that we will solve the pandemic. This is our last battle against the COVID problem. We should get vaccinated. If there are still those who are doubting, I hope they will be enlightened so that they also get vaccinated.]

Likewise, Iligan Medical Society (IMS) President Dr. Armando Isla Jr., one of the first five to be immunized at AMCI, encouraged his fellow health workers and the rest of the population to welcome the vaccination while attesting that no adverse effect was felt after the inoculation.

“I hope na ang among actions will speak louder than words sa pag-encourage namo na ma-vaccinate ang mga tao… Karon, I feel fine. Ang bakuna nga gihatag walay sakit. And I encourage everyone nga pag muabot na gani ang time nga magpavaccinate na, go, para mahuman na gyud ning pandemic,” Isla stated.

Among the first five to be vaccinated at AMCI were infectious disease specialist Dr. Leonell Quitos, AMCI President Dr. Edgar Claude Nadal, IMS President Dr. Armando Isla Jr., Vice-President for Medical Dr. Delorina Rowena, and Vice-President for Operations Dr. Nestor Molleda.

A WTM Latin America 2019 começou nesta terça-feira (2). A feira de turismo deverá reunir cerca de oito mil participantes até esta quinta (4), no Expo Center Norte em São Paulo.

8 AVRIL 1964 - 8 AVRIL 2017 ( 53 ANS ) 2 ORCHESTRES LÉGENDES DE LA MUSIQUE HAÏTIENNE, L'ENSEMBLE WÉBERT SICOT ET L'ENSEMBLE NEMOURS JEAN-BAPTISTE DISPUTÈRENT UNE RENCONTRE MÉMORABLE AU STADE SYLVIO CATOR. Souvenir du 8 avril 1964 au stade Sylvio Cator. Rappel !!!! Nous sommes en 1964, période du carnaval haïtien avec toujours les deux pôles d'attraction de la musique haïtienne, Nemours Jn Baptiste, leader du Compas direct (blanc et rouge) et Wébert Sicot, leader de Cadence rampa (blanc, rouge, vert et noir). Cette situation, qui avait entrainé une formidable polémique entre ces deux orchestres, motiva Raoul Guillaume, lui-même ancien joueur de St Louis de Gonzague, président du club Excelsior et dirigeant son propre groupe musical, à mettre sur pied un match de football original entre ces deux groupes musicaux. L'idée était, avant toute chose, d'écrire un texte imaginatif, composer une musique appropriée et par la suite l'enregistrer et la diffuser à Radio Haïti, ce pour donner une apparence médiatique à ce match. Son concepteur Raoul Guillaume utilisa à cette fin la voix de Serge Ambroise, alors chroniqueur sportif à Radio MBC. Sur le terrain, cette rencontre devait se disputer en l'année 1963, mais informé de la présence dans le camp de Sicot de Ti Marc Elie (Marc Antoine), guitariste et avant-centre de l'Aigle noir, Nemours Jn Baptiste, lui-même ancien arrière latéral droit du Racing Club Haïtien, joua alors la prudence. Il aurait attendu le départ de l'excellent Marc Elie pour l'étranger pour proposer de disputer ce match particulier l'année suivante. Le jour venu (8 avril 1964), le stade était rempli comme un verre de mamba. Vingt-quatre mille spectateurs avaient fait le déplacement pour assister d\'abord à un duel musical. Les musiciens des deux orchestres en tenue de footballeur se produisirent tour à tour au centre de la pelouse. Ensuite eut lieu la rencontre inédite entre les deux formations. Au cours du duel musical, Nemours Jn Baptiste avait exécuté ces trois tubes : "Joie de vivre", "Rédition" et "Carnaval Flora". Il l'emporta sur Sicot qui de son côté avait joué "Ti Georges Counan", "Duvalier à vie" et "Carnaval Malachon". Pour le duel musical, les deux orchestres s'étaient présentés dans la formation suivante : Nemours Jn Baptiste (maestro) Chanteurs : Carlo Glaudin et Jn Claude Félix 1 er Sax Alto : Liautaud Domingue (Yapha) 2e Sax Alto : Louis Thélémaque 1er Sax Ténor : Nemours Jn Baptiste 2e Sax Ténor : Fritz Ferrier 1er Trompette : Thalès Jabrun 2e Trompette : Walter Thadal 3e Trompette : Salomon Dépestre Tambour : Wreutzer Duroseau Guitare : Raymond Gaspard Accordéon : Richard Duroseau Batterie : Napoléon Adam Gong : André Boston Wébert Sicot (maestro) Chanteurs : André Dorismond, Garry French et Gérard Thézan 1er Sax Alto : Wébert Sicot 2 e Alto : Jean Séjour Sax Ténor : Jean Donney Sax Baryton : René Gravoix Trompette : Gesner Domingue, Emilio Gay et Frantz Souffrant Accordéon : Eddy Prophète et Arsène Durosel - Guitare : Fritz Duval - Tambour : Duffont Mayala - Batterie : Edvard Lafontant et Charles Delva. Symphonie inachevée sur fond de pluie diluvienne Après le duel musical sanctionné à l'applaudimètre par la victoire de Nemours sur Sicot, ce fut le match de gala tant attendu entre les deux orchestres avec comme arbitre Raoul Guillaume assisté de deux juges de touche René Dor et Serge Matély. L'arbitre Raoul Guillaume invita les maestros des deux orchestres (Nemours et Sicot) à mettre le pied sur le ballon pour la photo souvenir. Profitant de la circonstance, Nemours s'adressant à Sicot lui déclara : « un kabès dans le duel musical plus un autre dans le match, cela fera exactement 2 kabès que je te donnerai en ce jour mémorable du 8 avril 1964 ». Coincidence bizarre, le match (comme c'était précisé dans l'enregistrement sonore) s'est terminé sur le score nul (1-1). L'orchestre Nemours Jean-Baptiste ouvra le score à la mi-temps par l'intermédiaire de son chanteur Jean Claude Félix qui évoluait au poste d'ailier droit tandis que Wébert Sicot lui-même égalisait pour son équipe en seconde période. Puis, dame pluie s'abattit sur le terrain jusqu'à le rendre impraticable. Certains prétendirent que Raoul Guillaume se serait arrangé avec les deux équipes pour que la rencontre se termine sur un tel score. A cela l'organisateur de l'événement répondit que c'était totalement négatif puisque ce n'était pas dans son agenda de s'entendre à la fois avec les deux formations et le grand créateur pour faire tomber une pluie diluvienne. Raoul Guillaume déclara que pour ne pas perdre la mélodie, il l'avait intitulée : « Vive le football » et la chanson a été reprise et enregistrée par le groupe Mini All Stars et avait même été diffusée lors de la Coupe du Monde de 1998 déroulée en France. Le disque a été gravé et remis à la FIFA. Le président Sepp Blatter en détient un exemplaire pour ses archives. La chanson a été adoptée par la Confédération Africaine de Football de même que par l\'équipe nationale du Cameroun. Et ce n\'est pas tout, cette chanson a inspiré d'autres morceaux chez les deux antagonistes comme : "8 avril "et "Deux guidons" (Nemours Jn Baptiste) et "Pete filè" (Wébert Sicot) Raoul Guillaume en bref Nom : Guillaume Prénom : Raoul Date de naissance : Seven Up à V-8 (rires) Lieu de naissance : P-au-Pce Etudes primaires et secondaires : Institution St- Louis de Gonzague Etudes universitaires : Faculté de droit Profession : Comptable (diplômé chez Joseph Pouyol) Il a étudié la musique à l'Institution St Louis de Gonzague avant d'être recruté par Issa Saieh pour intégrer l'Orchestre du même nom. Par la suite, il forma son propre groupe avec lequel il alla connaître de nombreux succès jusqu'à son arrestation. Pris de dégoût, il partit pour New-York pour reprendre la musique avec un nouveau groupe (1967-1972) De retour en Haïti, il dirigera l'Orchestre de la Radio Nationale. i think the thing that i enjoy the most about my vtm characters is being able to portray them as being the monsters they are.

for example, bea / @ulisaypo made an observation to me last night about how leonelle treated ghouls, specifically her ghoul amélie, in the same way a spoiled child might treat a doll: if they break or get lost, she can just replace them with a new one! humans are fragile and inconsequential and it's easy for her to find a new one. so what if she has killed one or two because she went too long without feeding and couldn't control her beast? she might feel some initial grief because that blood bond is gone, but then she gets over it and gets a shiny new model.

she tries to maintain high humanity - and traditionally that is something kings and queens of shadows do - to make herself more appealing to the camarilla clans, but her sire, claude, is right: they will always be monsters, no matter how she tries to hide it. the exchange they had in the last fic i posted was very much drawn from kratos' and athena in god of war (2018) - "pretend to be everything you are not: teacher, husband...father. but there is one unavoidable truth that you cannot escape. you will always be a monster." / "i know, but i am your monster no longer." - which sums up the claude-leonelle relationship as a whole. claude who embraced it, joined the sabbat, who doesn't pretend he's anything other than a monster; and leonelle, who is feeling guilt for how she was as a queen of shadows/sabbat infiltrator, and wants to do better and wishes to deny that part of her. but at the end of the day, she can't escape that unavoidable truth, whatever sect she is a part of. she will always be a monster.

The mirror having been smashed might have done her a favour - she cannot look into it now and hope that she might see her face, and then turn angry at the reminder she is undead. Some jewellery had been salvaged, such as her late wife’s engagement ring, a silver ring with an opal nestled inbetween small shining diamonds; she remembers how, though thrilled for her mistress, Amélie had gently warned her opals are considered bad luck among mortals, and Leonelle had shrugged the superstition off. The diamond drop earrings are there too, and the damned black diamond choker that Claude had gifted her as a welcome into their clan when she became his favoured Childe.

Her Beast loses its temper, and an instant, she grabs the choker, dark as oblivion and shining menacingly in the dim light of the bedroom. She throws it across the room with a force that has it make a dent into a wall.  Wear the choker I gave you, Claude had whispered. Leonelle looks at the diamonds. Taunting and tantalizing. She turns away. She cannot stand to look at the things anymore.

And now alone, she cries. If a kine cries, it’s just tears. Water. If a Kindred does, it is blood. That is all that is inside of her. When she feels the tears well up, she reaches for a handkerchief - with one favourite item ruined, she does not want another stained with vampiric vitae. She had come to New York, a sanctuary across the sea that then turned into a home, able to blend in among the countless clanmates.

How could I be so foolish to think he would ever let me go?

She feels like one of those nesting dolls that she had noticed in a night-time market stall when she had briefly passed through Vienna. The vendor had claimed it was from St. Petersburg. Maybe her sire is right - she pretends to be everything that makes her far more palatable to the Camarilla sensibilities; she did it in Paris and she does it here in New York too. She tries to be kind to her ghouls as those on a path of Humanity try to be - that is the next doll down inside of her. A loving mate, another doll inside of her. And then, the smallest, hidden by all these layers, all these other wooden dolls, is the monster. Her Beast. Always lurking, always there.

We are Lasombra, and whether you like it or not, we will always be monsters, Claude whispers in her soul. He’s right, she knows he is. What is she, other than a bunch of Russian nesting dolls, carved out of blood rather than wood?

Curiously, and without permission, Amélie moves over to the bed, brushing those long auburn curls to one side to expose her neck. She tilts her head to one side and reaches out a hand to Leonelle. A crook of a finger to beckon her.

“What if I hurt you?” Leonelle asks. She takes Amélie’s hand and the human pulls her onto the bed. Their faces are dangerously close to one another.

“I daresay you won’t, my Lady. Some of us find it rather pleasurable.” The memory of her own Embrace is fuzzy, but she remembers an ecstasy like no other when Claude sunk his fangs into her in the shadow of Notre Dame.
