No one had slept the rest of the night, and in the morning, everyone kept to themselves, assorting their belongings and deciding what to do, holding out hope that Daryl and frost would turn up.
"Hey, I found an Ipod, and thanks to our honouree genius, I charged it." Natalia walked down the stairs, waving around her ipod as she flicked through it. "They have Beyonce?! Score!"
"Hey, Nat, shut up." Maggie told her, staring out the window, through the blinds.
"What, you don't like Bey-"
"Shh!" She snapped, alerting the others to her tense state.
"Maggie, what is it?" Gabriel asked.
"They're here. We-" She turned around, searching the room frantically. "Down there." She pointed at the crawl space, "We gotta hide down there."
No one bothered to even question her, as they hauled ass, squeezing into the below space.
Some time had passed, before a loud bang from above had reminded them of the situation they were in.
"Clear!" A booming voice shouted, a man's.
"Over here!" A woman's called. "They're still wet."
Natalia looked to the wall as she concentrated on that voice, had she heard that before?
"I guess he was telling the truth, then?"
Now she would have recognised that voice anywhere, Daryl.
Before she could even move towards the steps, Negan was grabbing a hold of her, whilst Maggie held one hand over her mouth, and the other gripping her shoulder tight, begging her to stay put, only through her eyes.
"We should clear the other rooms." The other man suggested.
Their footsteps continued into the house.
"Clear!" The man shouted, seconds before Daryl repeated him.
"I have to." Natalia whispered, almost silently, ripping Maggie's hand off her face, her eyes starting to well. "I have to get to him."
"You can't" Maggie was just as silent. "He's with them for a reason, you'll put us all at risk."
"But he's right there." Her voice cracked, as she tried to control it.
The people above continued to check over the house.
"I'm sorry."
"Nothing." They had joined together, right above the rug that was concealing the small groups hiding spot.
"Maybe they went out the back?" Daryl wondered. "I can track them."
Natalia and Maggie met eyes, instantly.
"Are you in a hurry to leave?" The man asked him.
"What?" He wasn't the smoothest liar, Natalia scrunched her eyes up at his hesitation.
"The other building, you wanted to stick around and make sure we didn't miss anything. Now you wanna run off. Which is it?" The man pressed.
"Look, man, I'm just trying to help." Daryl huffed.
"Yet you keep chirping."
"Fine. You lose 'em, it's on you, it ain't on me."
"Stop." The woman piped up.
Who the hell was she telling to stop?
"Wash, we need a perimeter check." Natalia could only assume she was saying into a radio. "Possible runners. Half a klick."
"Copy that, Shaw." The man, Wash, responded.
"Look, I don't have time for this talk bullshit." The woman lowered her voice, stressed.
"Listen..." The man attempted, but she cut him off.
"I know! I understand, but I don't need it. Go, sift upstairs. Make sure we didn't miss anything."
They heard his footsteps leaving.
Maggie caught Natalia's arm as she went to raise her gun, exactly where that woman was stood with Daryl, shaking her head furiously.
"Don't." Shaw hissed.
"Don't what?" Daryl asked her.
"You're either with us, or you're not? Your wife is our enemy, now." She continued to keep her voice low.
"Nat was your friend." He pushed. "She cared about you."
The puzzle piece clicked.
Leah! The woman was Leah, but how?
"And now she's against me. It's us, or you die, and you got a taste of it, already."
Did she just threaten him?
"What do you want me to do?" His voice was only a tad bit louder.
"For one thing, stop pissing off Carver. Usually doesn't end well."
They soon heard their footsteps leaving the room, but it wasn't long before the three of them returned.
"They ran. They ain't coming back here." Daryl finalised.
"What?" Carver asked.
"I mean, think about it. You hit them hard. Even if they get more people, they won't come back here. It's a bad move. You've got what, 20 people in your town?" Daryl pointed out, rather loudly. "You got weapons. You got walls. You'd see 'em coming from a mile away. Trust me, they ran."
"Is there a point to any of this?" They could hear the confusion in Carvers tone.
"Let's go." Leah told the two men. "There's nothing here. It's time we move on."
"No. We're missing something."
"Fine. Let's waste another hour. That's smart."
"Daryl..." Hearing her say his name, was like nails on a chalkboard for Natalia.
"It's not my fault he's too stupid to pay attention."
"Chirp. Chirp. Chirp." Carver mocked.
"Enough."
"No, screw that. This dirtbag wants to play. I'll teach him the rules."
"I'm right here, man. Make a move." Daryl challenged.
Natalia couldn't help but to fan herself, the heat in the small crawlspace was getting to her....
"This is not the time and it's not your call to make." Leah interrupted.
"Jesus, Shaw." Carver sounded aggravated by her. "We both know who he really is deep down."
"What?" Leah asked.
"I was there. Remember? After? What, you think this is gonna end any different?"
Natalia tried to wiggle out of the hold she was in, but no one was letting loose.
"So, this is what? You looking out for me?
"Always."
"Uh-huh. Got ya." She humoured him. "And what about the fire? When Pope locked me in the cabin and lit it up? You must have known. Was that you looking out for me, too?"
"Shaw, wake up. Everything is a test now. If you think this guy is ever gonna give a shit about any of us, you're gonna fail. He's gonna go running back to his baby mama, like he always did."
Natalia felt the eyes on her, before she looked at the people around her, she had froze, her heart had stopped, what the hell were they talking about? Were they implying that Daryl knew Leah, but he had never met her, how would he have met her?
"He's right. I don't give a shit about any of you. Except you." Daryl answered, which confused her even further, cause the only people he could've been talking to, was either Carver or Leah, and the two men were definitely not fans of each other. "I'm here for you. It's no secret I made mistakes. But I'm here right now. Maybe I'd be better at it this time, if you'll let me. And Pope scares the shit out of me. I don't wanna be face first in the fire under his boot. But if you say trust him, I'll trust him."
"We've wasted enough time here already." Leah spoke, but Natalia could barely hear her, it felt like her head was trapped in a bubble, everything was blurred as she tried to make a connection of things, of events, a time line.
"Oh, you're not seriously..." Carver started.
"It's time to move on." She pressed the matter.
"Sure. Your call." He was silent for another moment, "Hold on." He pushed Daryl out of the way, stepping towards the rug and lifting it up.
"Told ya." Daryl spoke, after a moment of quiet.
Secret exits were a heaven sent, as the group snuck out from the side of the house, away from the group.
When they were in the clear, tree's surrounding them. Natalia distanced herself away from the three, stumbling slightly as she walked in a different direction.
"Natalia? Are you alright?" Gabriel asked.
"Man, look at her." Negan scoffed.
"It was after Rick." Natalia muttered, when Maggie caught up to her, though the group could still hear them, considering Natalia had collapsed on a log.
"What was?" Maggie asked.
"He- he went out looking for him, everyday... he never came home, he was always out in those damn woods, whilst I was pregnant, with our children" She looked at her friend. "The same woods she lived in. I'm so stupid." She dropped her head into her hands. "He never came home to me, cause he was with her."
"Hey, you don't know what they were talking about." Maggie attempted. "Daryl ain't the kinda guy who would do... that."
Natalia lifted her head, staring at the woman, sternly.
"He wouldn't." She stuck with her opinion.
"We were in a bad place, I was huge, he was grieving, he wanted nothing to do with me."
"Daryl ain't like that." Maggie knuckled down. "You obviously don't know how much he loves you, if you think that of him."
"What else am I supposed to think, Maggie?!"
"He was captured, he's playing them."
"Then how does "Carver" know who I am?"
It took a while for Maggie to find a reason for that.
"Maybe she's in on it and they came up with a story."
"Doesn't fucking matter." Natalia stood up from the log, looking down at her. "'Cause I'm gonna kill them all. How far away are we?"
"About three miles out." She answered, as they joined the others.
"You can't be serious." Negan looked stumped. "Daryl just told us to go home."
"I didn't hear that." Maggie held her hand on her hip.
"Well, I think he was being subtle. He said they were armed with lookouts. And Daryl knows we'd never turn back." She glanced at the man in question's wife, not too sure if that statement was fully true at the moment.
"How're you gonna keep going, Maggie, huh? With what army? Come on, Gabe, back me up here."
"Our people are about to starve. I'm not going back to my family having failed." The priest replied.
"Oh, Jesus."
"I've done it before." Natalia said. "At Woodbury, to get you and Glenn back, and then to save Merle and Daryl, did it at that outpost, and those other outposts, I can do this, but If y'all are gonna tag along, You do as I say, and you don' kill 'em."
"Why is that?" Gabriel asked.
She looked at Elijah.
"Tell me which one hurt your family, and I get the rest to myself."
The boy nodded in approval and understanding.
"Alright, tell you what." Negan decided. "Make me a promise in front of the goddamn preacher, and I will stick around."
"Promise you what?" Maggie caved.
"I do this for the both of you, and we're even, we are good. I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder."
"We will never be even." Maggie broke it to him.
"Then you are gonna be down a soldier that you desperately need."
"We don't need you." Natalia told him. "Never have, never will, this is a one man job, I'm just letting y'all act like we're a team."
Twigs snapping caught their attention, a walker was approaching.
"Mine." Natalia demanded, walking towards it, she didn't draw any weapons.
The walker reached out for her, but she ducked, kicking it to the ground, instead of putting a knife through its skull, she kicked at its head, then again, and again, and again, until eventually, there was no head, and instead, a pile of brain-rot and dark blood.
"Feel better?" Gabriel asked as she joined them, again.
"Nope."
"Well there's some more." Negan pointed towards the same direction, a group of them were approaching, now.
"Wait." Maggie halted her. "Think we can find more?"
"Really?" Natalia raised a brow.
"It's efficient, will make breaking in a whole lot easier."
They had tied the walkers to the trees, using them to summon others, as each got their missions, Elijah went off on his own, to take care of his section.
Natalia gave Gabriel a walkie, after sharing his mission.
"There are scouts everywhere." Maggie reminded.
"I'll be careful."
"If you get a chance to kill one of them, if he's alone and you have the advantage... Ignore what she says." Maggie looked at Natalia.
"I will." Gabriel promised, then walked away.
"You ready?" Negan asked.
"I'm not cutting up anyone I know." Maggie sighed. "You're gonna have to find me five strangers."
"Only need four." He smirked. "I kept my mask for practical and sentimental reasons."
"This is not fun." Maggie stopped him.
"Well, not with that attitude." He mocked.
"Actually, make it three, coaches don't play, I ain't herding with y'all."
"Let's get it over with."
Natalia popped in her headphones, she wasn't joining in on whisperer bootcamp, but she had nothing else to do for the moment, so she was gonna watch Negan and Maggie attempt to work together.
Beyonce and Shakira? Now that was a good duo.
"You know, I gave that man the best damn years of his life, he was shit before me." Natalia sat on a log, staring at the ground, whilst Maggie skinned a walkers face, gritting her teeth through Negan's instructions.
"You tried to kill each other for the first three months you knew each other." Maggie sighed.
"Yeah, but we didn't, I also saved his life, he hasn't done shit for me, except cause the reason I got stretch marks. You know, he told me that the first time he started to "admire me" was when I fucking threatened Tomas."
"Who's that?" Maggie asked.
"That guy in the cafeteria, when Rick cut yer daddy's foot off, y'know, he wasn't even bad looking, just pissed me off."
"Oh." She nodded.
"Another thing, he thinks he's all that cause he bagged me? Laughable." Natalia continued. "Girl, I could have anyone I wanted, I have evidence, and he thinks he can pull a fast one on me, lemme just go through the small list of men who have tried it"
"Y'don't have to."
"All those prisoners, actually. Dr S, I know he did. His own brother. Leon, Frank, Sean, Harley, and I know what he did, but he still counts, Spencer, Milo-"
"Wait, wait, wait, Spencer?" Negan cut her off.
"Yes, what about it?"
"Thought he was with Rosita?"
"Yeah, cause I rejected him, and you killed her ex in front of her, we all have our moments." Natalia glared at him. "Anyways, where was I, actually, scratch that, like every fucking dude that bothers me, and he has the nerve, to try and fuck me over, then wants to come back with a pathetic offering of food?
"Nat! Get over it, alright, you don't know what's going on, he's just trying to survive, and she's swallowing all the shit he's spewing so it's working."
"So how the hell did they know who I was, why would he say that Daryl would just go running back to me "like always." Yeah, cause nothing happened whilst they were out in those woods together, Argh, that asshole."
"Got it!" Maggie sighed with relief, yanking the face off the walker.
The next part of their plan, was teaching Maggie how to be a walker.
Natalia hid in the bushes, as Negan sported his mask, as well, correcting Maggie's posture and walk, then he untied the walker with the black beard, letting him loose.
He stumbled towards the disguised woman, sniffing her before losing interest, walking away, that was until she tripped over a rock, falling to the ground.
The walker happened to notice this, making a bee-line for her just as she started taking the mask off in a panic, but Natalia was quicker with her knife, aiming and taking down the walker in one swing.
"Great, now we have to find a new one, thank you, Natalia." Negan rolled his eyes.
"This is a piece of shit." Maggie threw the mask at him.
"It's not gonna fit you perfectly." He chuckled. "It was... someone else's face. Look, this might actually work. And I mean it. If I can do it, you can do it. I'll take this back, work on it, fix it for you. Then we'll try again."
"How generous." Natalia quipped.
"You did good, Maggie." He ignored her, walking away to go work on her Halloween costume.
In only a few hours later, Maggie was able to start herding walkers into the pen they had made
"Whatever happened to your friend?" Natalia asked Negan, as they watched from a log.
"Which one?"
"The one with the moustache, the one who called me hot."
"Which one?" He repeated.
"Y'know, the next in charge, your assistant."
"Simon."
"That's it."
"Strangled him to death, cause he tried to overthrow me."
"Shame, y'know, if you had him as my captor, instead of Laura, I would've probably actually caved."
He side-eyed her, shocked and slightly disappointed by her reveal.
"What, I wasn't enough for you, but he was?"
"He pissed me off, he didn't subject me to nightmare fuel by killing two of my closest friends, right in front of me then demanded I stare at it."
"Fair enough." He nodded.
"Y'know, it's funny how the twins took such a liking to you, considering they were conceived on your old meeting room table." She sighed, staring ahead at her friend.
His face screwed up in disdain, but she didn't take notice, until Maggie walked over, taking off her mask.
"Told you, you would get it right." Negan broke his own silence. "Congrats and you're welcome."
As Maggie continued to work on her herd, Natalia went away to hunt, but also keeping a look out for any of those reaper people, or maybe Daryl... she missed him, bad, at this point, she wasn't even angry, she just wanted an explanation, but mostly, she just wanted him, she had no idea what she was gonna do with the outcome of whatever weird thing he had going on with Leah, she her guess, and she believed it, but she also still didn't want to, she loves him, and she doubted she could ever stop, but he had lied to her, for seven years, she couldn't just exactly forget that, so easily.
Negan had skinned and roasted the string of rabbits Natalia had caught, portioning it out for everybody, and then they sat around the fire to eat.
"You know, I feel for you in all of this." Negan started, looking at Maggie. "You might think that's bullshit, but it's true."
"How's that?" Maggie asked.
"I'm not a robot, Rhee. It sucks to see your friends as walkers. And that would be enough. But you are about to do some crazy shit, even crazier than originally planned, considering you gave the nutjob-" He pointed at the possible Divorcee. "the reigns to this operation, and break into a community that you built and lost. I get it."
"Your community and mine, were lost in very different ways." She told him.
"You think I don't understand the losing side of a massacre?"
"There were no children at the satellite station. No families."
"The first night we had sex." Natalia muttered to herself, staring at the fire.
"Then where'd Aaron get Gracie?" Negan asked her, raising his brow when he found a way to finally stump Maggie. "You think I don't know about that?"
"You can't debate battle plans with me. Levels of cruelty."
"Look, all I'm saying is that I remember when my home was invaded and my people were killed. Those men... they had friends. They had girlfriends. People that felt a loss that I couldn't heal. And I had to explain to them why... why their leader failed to protect them."
"You killed people who had families." Maggie reminded. "And you did it in front of their families."
"Yeah. I did." He agreed. "But the world is different now, Maggie. Fewer people to fight for, fight with. Hell, there's fewer things to fight over."
"Are you saying you'd do things differently?"
Natalia looked up, waiting for his answer to Maggie's question.
"Yeah. Yeah, if I could do it all over again. I'd have killed every single one of you."
In that moment, any bit of redemption Natalia felt Negan had earned, was destroyed in that one sentence, he hadn't changed, he'd just adapted to his environment, knew when he'd lost, but he didn't feel any remorse or regret for his actions.
"Why would you say that?" Maggie forced the words out, but her throat felt tight.
"It's the truth." He shrugged. "We gotta do whatever we can to protect our people, right? I mean, that's why we're here. That's why we're doing this."
"Why would you say that to me?" She rephrased, her anger showing.
"We had a good day, you and I, us." He looked between the two women. "And the only way this works, is... is if we're honest."
More time had passed, the pen got fuller, and Gabriel had returned.
"Nat, Maggie. Good news." He greeted them. "It's still there."
"You run into any of them?" Maggie asked him.
"No." He shook his head, quickly limping away.
Natalia had sensed his hesitation straight away, but she didn't mention it at the moment, no, she'd wait for her time.
Soon, they had enough, and it was time to work Natalia's plan.
Negan, Maggie, Gabriel and Elijah, who had masks made for them, would position the walkers, herd them to the distraction point, they'd also be on the look out for any walker traps, or places they would have been locked up years ago, letting them join their army, expanding it.
By the time they had reached Meriden, their army must have reached the hundreds.
And just like Natalia predicted, they had sent a man out to deal with the situation.
The man had reached a clearing, he was confident that he knew what he was doing.
"Group 2, move in." Natalia spoke over the radio, as Negan herded his section towards the man, blocking him in.
He was a fighter, she could give him that, but he was no match when Negan and Maggie got involved, throwing him off and stabbing him, letting the walkers get a chance to have a feast.
"Good work, comrades." Natalia smirked, as she spoke into the radio, her voice barely heard over the walkers.
Negan had passed the radio to Natalia, who was subjected to Leah Shaw's pleads for her friends, as he herded the walkers away, just to bring them back in the next hour, she wanted them to know it was her group that was manipulating the dead.
What she hadn't accounted for, was the explosives that blew up a group of her army, apparently landing on a bomb of sorts.
More had followed as they got closer, spreading out around the perimeter.
"Alright, you need to push them around, make sure they hit all the explosives instead of y'all." Natalia instructed, from her spot, using binoculars to try and find anything, but in the night, it was becoming even more challenging.
She had fled, when the herd was getting closer to her, with no mask or protection, she left for the walls.
"Alright, I'm by an old white car, one of the only ones around, meet me there, in the next 5." She radio'd forward.
"Copy that." Maggie whispered back.
It wasn't long before she and Gabriel joined her, ripping off their masks.
"You guys alright?"
"Fine." Maggie nodded.
"Up ahead, nine O'clock." She nodded at the wall, at the man who was strolling the perimeter, getting closer to them, from up above.
"Man, you're missing all the fireworks." Daryl called, meeting him, just above them.
"Dixon? What are you doing up here?" He asked.
"Pope told me to walk the perimeter, so I'm walking the perimeter." He replied. "You want a smoke?"
"Yeah." He nodded.
Within 30 seconds, the man's body was falling beside them, blood seeping from his throat.
Maggie and Gabriel were quick to move the body out of sight, whilst Natalia looked up, meeting those blue eyes.
Her face was blank as she stared at him, and that made him gulp, he knew he had a truck ton of explaining to do, but now wasn't the time, he hoped never would be.
"We're holding good at the northern gate. Walls are holding strong." All three radios rang.
"Hey, pst. pst. Around that way. Go." Daryl beckoned to them, pointing around the corner.
"Just so you know, I'm gonna kill your girlfriend." She hissed up at him.
"Ain't had a girlfriend since I married ma first an' last one." Were his last words, before he darted off.
"Asshole." She grumbled, following her friends.
They had found a way in, similar to the one Sasha had made back at the Hilltop, They were in Meriden.
"What's that smell?" Gabriel asked, his voice near silent.
"Anything too rotten to eat or use." Maggie answered. "It's why there's nobody out here. Do you remember where you're going?"
"Top floor, second room, southwest corner of the building." He reported.
"Just remember to wait for either of our signals."
"Got it."
"We do this, and we get the food and we go home." Maggie reminded.
He nodded, leaving them.
Maggie led the way, whilst Natalia followed, ready for attack, as they raced for a red pick up truck.
They jumped in, Natalia in the passenger seat and Maggie behind the wheel, searching for the key.
"Know how to hotwire?" Both asked at the same time. "Daryl." They also said, at the same time, it was almost scary.
Maggie opened up the compartment, exposing the wires, and Natalia held out a small knife, letting her put the car into action.
"Deaver, what's the status on the chain on that gate?" The radio asked.
"Heading to the garage now." Another voice replied, but it was also coming from out the window, he was near them.
"Mags."
"I know."
The man ran past them, not spotting either woman, but when Maggie started the truck, he took notice.
Natalia took back her knife, when he banged on her window, begging for them to stop.
Natalia rolled down it down, grabbing a hold of the man's shirt, stabbing him through the head, with the same knife Maggie had used to cut the wires.
With him taken care of, she picked up speed, swerving around the place.
"On three." She warned.
"Two... One." Natalia called, as they both jumped out the car, letting the car slam into the gate, knocking it open, inviting the walkers in.
Natalia rolled on the ground, avoiding impact before jumping up, continuing to follow Maggie.
A man had caught up to them, swinging at Maggie, but Natalia was quicker, shooting him down, but she jumped when another shot came, a body falling behind her, another reaper, they looked towards the window, seeing a rifle poking out.
Gabriel had made it.
The two women ran, feeling slightly victorious as Gabriel took out the men behind them.
"Pope is dead." The voice of Leah spoke through the radio Natalia was still carrying. "Dixon murdered him. He's with the enemy."
"Fuck sake" Natalia growled.
"Shaw, repeat. Pope is dead?" Carver asked. "Leah, do you copy? We're on our way."
"He can handle himself, come on." Maggie encouraged.
As the reapers fought the walkers, Maggie and Natalia joined the others in fighting the reapers.
Natalia ducked under the grasp of one of the men, stabbing him in between the ribs, pushing him into the reach of a walker, letting it chow down on the man as he tried to get away.
"Fall back." The radio's buzzed. "Fall back."
The men, with much hesitation, did as told, leaving them to the walkers.
"You've got to be shitting me." Negan sighed, watching. "They're retreating."
"Yeah, cause they're, fucking pussies!" her hands making a circle over her mouth, as she shouted at them.
"But why?" Maggie looked around for the reason.
Leah was on the roof, staring down at them.
"I shoulda kicked her ass when I had the chance." Natalia sighed, seeing the flash of red behind the bitchy looking woman.
Fireworks shot out, towards them, landing in the walkers, causing them to explode.
Maggie and Natalia ducked for cover, running in between the walkers, searching for shelter, they hid behind a building, where a reaper was also held up, as soon as Natalia saw movement, she threw a knife.
"Let's go!" Maggie grabbed her, when she bent down to retrieve one of her beloved weapons.
They ran through the small alley, hearing footsteps behind them, finding an slightly ajar door, and running through it, letting it slam shut behind them as they sprinted up the stairs, and behind another door.
Then the creak of someone else entering the hallway sounded, the two shared a look before slowly turning the corner, seeing an injured Elijah being supported by Negan, limping towards them.
"We got one on our tail, I think." Maggie told them.
"We lost ours." Negan replied to her.
"We need to take care of that bleeding. Let's go."
Maggie led them to the infirmary, and Natalia moved towards the shelves, snatching up equipment to help.
"This way." Maggie left through a secret door, that resembled shelves, and Negan, being the last person, shut it behind him.
"I love that." Natalia told Maggie, going to work on bandaging Elijah.
"Okay, what now?" Negan asked.
"Wait till dawn. Hunt them down." Maggie shared her new plan.
"Why don't we just get the food and go?" Elijah asked, grunting through pain.
"Yeah, we're going to walk out of here with our arms full." She snarked.
"As long as we walk out of here, yeah." Negan pushed. "Unless chow ain't the only thing we're here for."
"No, I want them dead, there's no other way to escape them, and... I want to see them dead." Natalia piped up.
"Carver, report." Leah's voice came through, from beyond the secret door.
"In the infirmary. The leader and her little friend slugged me, but I'll get the both of them."
"Just find them. Not one of them is getting out of here alive." Leah replied.
"Copy that."
Negan couldn't argue with that.

WANHEDA // COMMANDER OF DEATH BRANDON CARVER CHAPTER 1
Some triggers.
3rd person Pov.
Cordelia Shaw started her day by cooking for her and her husband Brandon Carver, who had returned from afghanistan, was at the store getting last minute groceries.
He of course had ptsd which caused their relationship to be rocky at first, but they both had their fair share of trauma from diffrent circumstances, another fact was that they were only eighteen.
Her older sister Leah had called asking her to babysit Matthew, her adopted son.
Cordelia loved him to pieces, but she envied Leah somtimes.
You see She was pregnant but had a miscarrige that almost took her life too, after being released from the hospital She cried in Brandon's arms for weeks, she wouldnt eat for days until Carver forced food down her throught.
He was also filled with grief and stress when he got the call his unborn child had passed, and that his wife might not make it, and Leah almost had a panic attack when she heard her baby sister might not make it,the two held eachother waiting for Cordelia to come through.
So making sure Cordelia didnt do somthing drastic, Carver took her to shooting ranges were they both took their frustration and grief out on targets and even went hunting.
Cordelia was snapped out of her thoughts when her phone started beeping with amber alerts, and she almost freaked when Brandon Slammed open the door.
"Babe? whats going on,why do you look freaked out?" Cordelia asked him,the man had pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead.
"Nothing baby just pack a bag of some things you might need,we need to get out of here Leah will meet us." Carver said resting his forhead on hers.
"Brandon wha-" Cordelia was cut off by loud booms from outside, looking out the window she saw bombs being dropped out of helicopters.
And with that She and Carver Packed needed essentials, hand in hand they ran outside.
After a few hours they had went to the military base they were supposed to meet at only to be met with flames.
"Stay here!" Carver said kissing Cordelia, and going into the burning building after they heard screams of help.
She let out a breath of relief when he came out safe along with bossie and turner.
"Cordelia!" She heard her sisters voice yell.
Cordelia saw Her sister Leah, who was holding Matthew and besides them a german shepard, viola, she was a retired k-9 that used to sniff out drugs and help in kidnapping cases,She hugged them tightly.
As Carver, bossi, turner, and more of their companians came out of the flames,Cordelia wrapped her arms around Brandon when almost fainted.
"You inhaled to much smoke, breath in and out." Cordelia said holding a Oxygen mask to her husbands face,Brandon rolled his eyes but did as told.
The others gave her a "what the fuck" look.
"What im a doctor,im always prepared." Cordelia said, raising her brow.
Afterwards a bald headed man stepped forward, his name was Pope, the leader of their small group.
"Alright we need shelter from the bombs I found a Church three miles away from base." Pope said.
And with that the two women,a child,a dog,and around twenty men traveled three miles, not without trouble.
When a Person appeared in the center of the trail they were taking Cordelia took note of his rotten skin ,glazed eyes and, mouth up in a snarl.
Thats when he launched forward biting into the throught of one of the men.
Carver pushed Cordelia behind him gripping his hand gun.
Leah held her breath as she tightend her grip on Matthew,Cordelia noticed things about the man.
For starters it looked like he was dead, his ribs were poking out,and when Wells shot him in the heart it did nothing.
"That wont work." Cordelia stated, grabbing the hand gun from Carver, who started murmering curses under his breath.
"Cordelia wha-" He was cut off by his wife shooting the thing in his head.
"Go for the head, its the only way." Cordelia stated.
Carver,Leah and the others were in silent shock,Brandon had a proud smirk on his face.
Mathhew tightend his grip on Leah,While viola barked at the group.
"That was a hell of a shot, you sure your a doctor, and that your only eighteen." Pope asked Cordelia, who had Carver's arm around her.
"Im one of the youngest Docters in the state, and I had Carver to teach me how to shoot as if I was in the military." Cordelia stated, walking hand in hand with Carver the rest of the trail.
"R.i.p to our youth,we could call this our funeral." Cordelia said to Carver and Leah.
Said people gave her a deadpan stare.
"Im just telling the truth, its the walking fucking dead out here!" She Exclaimed pointing to a group of ten dead ones.
The group grabbed their guns and anything they could get their hands on.
Carver shot three dead ones while Cordelia killed four, and Pope killed the rest.
The others murmured about not being able to kill any dead ones.
They finally made it to the Church, its windows were broken and the door cracked.
The group rushed into the church huddling into the corners and some into the aisles sitting down.
"You good." Carver asked Cordelia while kissing her forhead.
As she was about to answer a loud boom went of and it all went black for them group.
-------------
And when they awoke the church was in flames some were dead and being shot or stabbed in the head by remaining survivors.
bossie,wells,mancea,washington,boone,Austin,fisher,jenson,turner,powell,
Deaver,Ancheta,Nicholls,Montanio,
Pope,Leah,Matthew,viola,Carver and herself were unharmed.
Thats when Pope stood at the burning alter, his face was blank but their was a glint in his eyes.
It scared Cordelia, but her face remained stotic as she leaned closer to Brandon.
"The Church has burned but we were left unharmed, baptized by fire and God!"Pope exclaimed.
"We are the chosen ones! we are Gods soldiers!" Pope exclaimed.
Cordelia had rested her head on Carver's shoulder wiping her brow, while Carver wrapped his arm around her shoulder, cleaning the blood of his fallen brothers from his hands.
Leah had covered Matthews eyes from the dead and burning bodies,as Viola sniffed around the Flaming church.
Pope went around with Mancea who Prayed for each of them with many Prayers.
And with that the group went to find a new base, but this was only the begining, and more was yet to come.
------------------------
Cordelia is pronounced (Core-deal-lia)
Also im not gonna lie originaly she was just gonna be a normal oc but I decided to make her Leah's sister when I saw the blonde hair and small resemblance.

Natalia was the bait, she'd purposely let Carver find her, more like she was out seeking him, and when he caught on, she put on the act of her life, she looked terrified as she ran away from him, and when she walked that stage and accepted her Oscar, she'd tell the world that she was heavily influenced by Tatum, from Scream.
She made a show as she tried every handle down the hallway, loud enough to know they were there.
"Oops. Wrong turn." Carver grinned, looking down at her.
Maggie walked out one of the doors, joining her, but he still didn't seem phased, but then Elijah followed, and his cocky demeanour dropped.
"You killed my sister." He told the man.
"Okay." Carver shrugged.
An door opened behind the man, Negan walking out of it, holding a bat.
"Well, I got to say thanks for this." He faced Natalia, again. "I was getting tired of all the searching."
Negan lunged at him, but he was quicker, twisting his arm and shoving him hard, turning to kick Elijah down, too, Maggie was collateral damage in the fall.
"Leah won't let us keep her." He nodded at Maggie. "But you, she don't know you." He grabbed Natalia, smacking her into the wall. "She don't know you." He then back handed her.
She swung at him, and as he focused on her hand, she kneed him, hard in the crotch.
Natalia was thrown, hard, on to the floor, and Maggie was coming back at him with a knife, but with a solid hit with Negan's bat, she was back on the ground. He kicked Elijah's injured leg as he passed.
As he was about to stomp on her head, ending her, Negan caught his attention.
"Hey, over here, dickhead." He was holding a bell, showing it off proudly.
"This should be fun." Carver smiled, hitting his palm with the bat, walking towards Negan.
Elijah threw his weapon, causing Carver to dodge out the way, and as he did, Negan threw dirt in his eye, hitting him over the head with the bell.
"Well, ding-ding." He leered. "Thanks, kid." He looked down at Elijah.
"Fuck" Natalia groaned, rolling her newly healed fist as she touched her face. Blood was coming out of her reopened cut.
But she wasn't the only one, It was trailing out of Maggie's nose, too.
She stood up, grabbing the sharp scythe, passing it to Elijah, but he took her hand, pressing it back into her, looking determined.
She leaned over him, about to bring it down, as he gained consciousness.
"Stop!" Daryl shouted, coming round the corner.
"Should have took you out right off." Carver told him.
"Shut up." Natalia groaned, using her strength to kick him in the head, knocking him out again, she then fell down, on her back, catching her breath.
"We don't kill him yet." Daryl told them.
"Who's we? You're one of them now, right?" Natalia mocked, closing her eyes.
"Nat, c'mon." Daryl tilted his head.
"He needs to pay for what he did." Elijah told him.
"I agree. But if we go down that road... we ain't all gonna make it out alive. No offence." He pointed to the young mans injured leg. "I hate this prick. But we got him now, let's use him. Get what we want and go home."
"Are you doing this for her?" Maggie asked.
Natalia sat up, glaring at him.
"No. No, I'm not. I'm doing it for her" He pointed at Natalia. "And for us. Leah wants us gone, but not more than saving her own family, especially this asshole."
Natalia scoffed.
"This could go wrong 800 different ways." Negan chimed in. "Me, I am down with us getting out of this alive."
"No!" Elijah demanded.
"Elijah."
"You're just going to let him walk away?"
"Hey, what did I tell you, you get to kill your sister killer, and the rest are mine, unlike some people around here, I keep my promises, and my vows." She looked up at the man she called her husband, then reached for one of the walkies. "Hey, Leah, you will never guess who I'm with, right now. Wait, sorry, two people, thinking it's time for a reunion. What do ya say?"
"...Nat." Her hushed whisper came through the radio.
"Hey, girl, how ya been?" She faked cheerfulness, as the others sat around, hanging off of her every word.
"God, I forgot how irritating that hillbilly accent was." Leah gritted through her teeth.
"Y'know, your guys kinda hot." Natalia pulled out her knife, looking down at Carver. "Why didn't you just fuck him instead of trying to ruin other peoples lives?"
Leah had tried to reply, but the stoic woman could only stutter and look for her sentence.
"Oh! That's right, you're only into other peoples husbands." Natalia told her. "Oh, good, he's gaining consciousness"
"Nat, what are you doing?" Daryl hissed.
As Carver stirred awake, Natalia grabbed his right arm, holding it out straight, before bringing her knife down, within a second, his hand was attached, and then it wasn't, blood spouted out of his wrist, as he wailed loudly, both in pain and confusion.
"I just cut his hand off, he's not gonna have long before he bleeds out, if I were you, I'd be outside in five, and don't even think about pulling anything." Natalia spoke into the walkie.
"I'm gonna kill you, Dixon!" Leah shrieked, but Natalia wasn't bothered as she chucked the small box over her shoulder.
"Here kid, you can have the rest of him after this is dealt with" Natalia tossed the hand to Elijah, who caught it, staring in horror, just like the others were doing, as Carver still howled in pain, cursing Natalia out. "Shut up, you ain't gonna live long to need it again." She scowled down at him, standing up.
"Nat!" Daryl barked, getting up after her.
"Honey, not right now, I'm busy, why don't you go sleep with someone else. Negan, tie him up, let's go." Natalia reached into her pocket for her own walkie. "Gabriel, new plan, you shoot anyone on sight, but only when I give the signal, you're our little secret, for now."
"Roger that, Natalia." He reported back.
Negan led Carver as they walked into the courtyard, passing the crops, looking out for anyone in particular.
"Leave me here, if you have to." Elijah told Maggie, tears welling in his eyes, as he looked around, at his old home. "Just make sure he's dead."
"I'm not going anywhere without you." She set him straight. "No matter what happens, okay?" She then left his side, walking towards the married couple.
"You ready?" Daryl asked her.
"Yeah." She whispered, looking at Natalia. "You and Leah were friends...You've already lost enough."
"She delivered the twins, apart from that, she's nothing to me." Natalia stared ahead, her expression nonchalant. "'Sides, coulda done it myself, she interfered. Wait. Hang on." She dropped down, lifting her cargo's up and untucking a small hand gun from her leg, before passing it to Maggie. "This is still your mission."
Daryl nodded, his eyes falling on Natalia, his lips moving as though he was waiting to say something, but then eventually looked ahead, speaking into the radio.
"Leah." He called.
"We're here." She replied.
Over the road from them, a door was pushed open, revealing the woman.
"She's gone grey. Didn't tell me Jane went grey!"
"That matter?" Daryl scoffed.
"'Course it matters."
"Come out. Put your weapons on the ground." He responded to Leah, instead.
"I need to see Carver, first!" She called over.
Natalia held her hand out, and he placed the radio in her palm, taking Carver from Negan and holding his knife to the man's throat, leading him out into the open.
"Come out!" He beckoned, pulling Carvers hair, as he led him, Leah and her buddies meeting them.
"Put your weapons on the ground." He repeated.
"What are you offering?" She asked.
"Lose the weapons, we let you leave." Daryl said.
"Is that all?" A bald man, beside her, asked.
"You head north, don't turn back. I see anyone at all, I'm going to kill him. Once we're far out enough, I Let him go."
Carver tried to say something, but the gag in his mouth proved difficult.
"Shut up!" Daryl tugged harder on his hair.
"You expect me to trust you now?" Leah asked.
"Yeah, I do. We're doing this all wrong. We survived everything for what? To keep fighting and killing each other?"
"If that's what it takes."
"You don't have to. I'm giving you a chance to save what's left of your family and mine."
"What about your wife, we both know she's not gonna agree to this, small thing, but she's fierce."
"Yeah, well, she has a great mind to remember what you did for us, for our family and for her." The threat was clear as day in the man’s voice.
Leah thought about it, pushing her hair out of her face.
"No more lies. Jensen." She spoke into the radio.
A gun shot went off, bouncing on the ground inches away from Daryl's boots.
"That was a warning!" She bellowed. "The last one! Everybody out!"
Natalia looked up, at the windows, but she couldn't find Gabriel, with the hope he was around, she slightly nodded her head, as Negan gently ushered her forward, helping Maggie with Elijah.
"Lower the knife. Cut the rope." Leah ordered Daryl.
"Jensen, the little woman." She spoke, staring at Natalia, who met her gaze, fury in her eyes.
"Fine." Daryl let go of Carver, cutting the rope around is arms, freeing his one hand.
Carver pulled the gag out of his mouth, blowing a kiss to Daryl as he backed away, making a beeline for Natalia, but she didn't move a muscle, her concentration still on the woman.
"A hand for a hand." He said.
"Carver!" Leah demanded. "You leave her be, for now."
With visible restraint, he turned around, joining her.
“Look at you, seems like Willows all grown up, good dog!” Natalia cheered at the mams obedience.
“Quiet!” Leah snapped at her. “Or I’ll let him, what you deserve.”
“I mean, he can try.”
Elijah's breathes got more ragged as he pulled out the scythe, attempting to go after Carver.
"Elijah, don't." Maggie held him back.
"No one moves!" Leah continued to raise her voice.
"Elijah." Maggie repeated, when he continued on.
"He takes one more step, he dies!"
"Josephine." He spat.
Carver grinned, as he waved his hand for the boy to keep coming.
"Carve, don't."
"Stop." Daryl tried.
"Jensen, pull the trigger."
"Her name was Josephine..." He had fallen, hitting the ground.
Carver took a step forward, and as his leg swiped back, ready to kick him, his leg was shot, sending him down, too.
"Jensen!"
"Nope." Her radio reported back. "No Jensen here."
Natalia smirked, as they spotted Gabriel on the roof, his gun aimed down at them.
"Call me "Gabriel.” The other two better back off or they're next."
"Guess you could say I got friends in high places." Natalia couldn't help herself. "I'd listen to him if I were you, heard he chats with God."
Leah bowed her head in defeat.
"Stand down." She told her pals.  "Your deal still stand?" Leah asked.
"You had your chance." Maggie told her. "You would have killed us. Picked us off one by one, right? Now Gabriel does the same thing to you."
"Maybe you're right." She stood up. "Your friend has the rifle, but I bet we take a couple of you down before he takes us all. You can have your town. We walk. You save your family, I save mine."
"Yeah." Daryl nodded.
Natalia furrowed her brows. Why the hell was he getting involved, ruining her operation.
"Negan?" Maggie looked to the man.
"You know what I think."
Maggie looked down, but Natalia didn't miss Maggie's finger tapping her thigh, twice.
"Drop your weapons and go." She told them.
"Not without Carver."
"Good luck with that, the man's deadweight with one hand and one leg." Natalia reminded.
Leah looked to the bald guy,
"Do it." She told him, but he looked perplexed. "I said do it."
The two men beside her dropped their weapons, whilst Leah dropped to Carver.
"I'll see you soon." She told him.
Natalia watched as they walked away, Maggie joined Elijah's side as Daryl dealt with Carver.
Natalia followed the three, pulling out her gun and shooting the man with the empty Machete sheath, in the head, the sound of his body hitting the floor filled the silence.
"Natalia!" Daryl shouted. "No!"
She ignored him, shooting the other man, as he started to run.
Leah was sprinting as Natalia followed after her, aiming for the back of her thigh, and shooting, causing the woman to yelp in pain, she then aimed for her shoulder and shooting.
Daryl caught up to her, grabbing a hold of her arm, but she moved out of his grip.
"Kill her." She told him.
"What?" He demanded.
"If you love me, if you want this to work, if whatever you had with Cadet Kelly was purely innocent, kill her, you'll do it for me." She pleaded, before making her way back, finishing off her job with Carver.
The man had seen her coming, grabbing a knife with his one good hand.
She kicked it out of his hand, picking up Elijah's scythe and standing on his injured leg, as she used it to impale the man in the chest, keeping him there as she got off, helping Elijah up from the ground, moving him towards Carver.
"Said he was yours." She told him, giving the boy her gun, letting him shoot Carver in the head, putting an end to his pain.
With the reapers finished, they got to work on collecting the food and supplies, setting up a wagon and horses so that they could carry it all back.
Daryl had return a bit later, looking grey, refusing to look at anyone.
"For someone who was shot twice, ran quick.... S'gone now."
Natalia licked her lips as she loaded a box onto the wagon, avoiding looking at him.
When they had nearly finished up, Maggie had announced that she'd head off, telling them that she had something to take care of, but she knew what it was, she was going back for Alden.
"You need me to go with you?" Natalia asked, quietly.
"No, stay with them, focus on getting home, maybe think about mending things with him before getting back to the children."
"Won't make any promises." She rolled her eyes.
During their walk back, Negan had left for a "walk" and they had let him, setting up their camp for the night, and then eventually sitting around a fire, Dog sat beside Natalia, as they watched the rabbit cook, he hadn't left her side since their reunion.
"I heard what you said." Gabriel spoke. "We're doing it wrong."
"I was just thinking about choices." Daryl replied. "Do they even matter anymore?"
"Depends on who's making the choice. Doubt's important, but it doesn't make you wrong."
"You telling me to have faith?"
"Yeah, I suppose so." Gabriel sighed, as a walker stumbled onto their camp.
"What about you?" Daryl nodded at him.
"Yeah, I'm trying." He got up from the ground. "I'm going to check on the horses." He bid the two goodbye, drawing a knife to take care of the walker.
Natalia picked at her nails as they sat in the suffocating silence.
"Stop doing that, gonna make 'em bleed." Daryl said.
She clenched her fingers, before letting go, looking away.
"When?" Natalia asked.
"Hm?"
"...You and Leah... When did you..." She couldn't force herself to finish her sentence.
"Never."
"God, Daryl, I'm not an complete idiot, I can put a few sentences together and figure out the context."
"Clearly yer can't, but Carver didn't know what the hell he was talking about, either"
"Then tell me, what the hell was going on, how did you know each other, why did you lie to me"
He was quiet, not wanting to respond.
"Daryl... please, if you can't even tell me, then.... I don't think I can fix this."
"Fine." He bowed his head, sighing deeply.
She was impatient as she waited for him to croak, she felt like she was slowly dying, needing his confession to bring her back.
"After Rick, an' you were just getting closer an' closer with the twins, I couldn't be at home, was just too much, the time weren't right, I couldn't be having babies in the world when he wasn't- I just couldn't comprehend it, ma kids, my first ever babies, so I stayed out in the woods, looking fer him, Michonne, she did the best she could, coming and going, but... when she couldn't, an' I was out there alone, I felt alone, an' I ain't never felt that before, but I missed Rick, an' I missed you."
"All you had to do was come back to me, I didn't go nowhere." She whispered.
"I know that, but I just couldn't, it hurt too much." He replied. "But then... I met her, in them woods, all by herself with a shotgun, we kept bumping inta each other, and when the weather was changing up, I had ta camp out with her, an' we gots to know each other an' we got closer, I told her about Rick an' Glenn, and everyone else, and I told her about you and the kids, tha three of 'em, she'd ask why I weren't with ya, and I said it was complicated. More time passed, an' she tried ta kiss me, I swear to God, Nat, I didn't kiss her back, I pushed her off, I was shocked she even tried it. The same day, I got back to Alexandria, and I didn't leave the walls 'till Evie and the others went missing."
"You ever saw her again?" Natalia asked, after processing what he had told her.
"Yeah, couple'a times." He blinked. "But they were both on accident, ran into each other."
"When we got to the cabin, with the girls, and there was that note, did she leave because of me, or was it actually because of you?"
"Natty, I don't know, but the las' time we talked, she asked me to go with her, ta leave my life behind an' leave the area, an' I told her to go to hell, I'd rather live ma life back in that fucking underground station then live in a life you ain't in." He got up from his log, sitting in front of her. "Baby, I'm sorry, alright, shoulda never lied to ya about anything, or kept it a secret."
"Then why did you, I told you about her. I tell you everything, you were the first person I ever opened up to in this, I trust you most in this world, and time after time you show me why I shouldn't." She dropped her head into her hands not wanting to even look at him.
"I'm sorry." He murmured, his hand hesitated over her hair, wanting to brush it with his fingers, like he normally would, but he thought that if he touched her for the meantime, Carver wouldn't be the only person losing a hand that day. "But I love ya, and ya gotta understand, I don' do anything with the idea of hurting you, I screwed up, I been screwing up, and you don' deserve that, but we can move past this, I'll get better with opening up, alright, I swear, Natty, it ain't gon happen again, I ain't never gonna let you down, again."
She didn't want to forgive him, she didn't think she should have to, either, but she loved him, and her kids deserved to see their parents getting along when they got back.
"If something like this ever happens again, you keep secrets from me ever again, I can't kill you because of the kids, but us, we, we'll be over, for good, you won' even get a chance to beg for me back, got it?"
"I promise, baby, I'm sorry." He hugged her, cradling her face as he squeezed her tight.
Natalia finally managed to push him off of her, when she saw Maggie walking towards them, alone.
Gabriel had taken this as his que to return back to the campfire, from where he was hiding behind the wagon.
"Alden?" He poked the elephant not in the room.
Maggie answered with a slight shake of her head, he was gone.
Dog whimpered between the Dixons, seeming to pick up on the groups emotions, and Daryl did his best to settle the beloved animal.
"You see Negan? He said he'd catch up." Gabriel continued.
"He dead?" Natalia asked, no one missed the hopefulness in her voice.
"He left." Maggie answered.
"Hey, Maggie." Elijah spoke, waking from his nap, a few feet away.
During the day, Natalia decided to walk beside Daryl, even giving him an earbud so that they could share her Ipod.
"Was mine and my dad's favourite song, when I was little." She told him, during the opening of Everywhere, by Fleetwood Mac.
"S'good song." He smiled at her, slightly swaying his head.
Natalia's mood soured drastically when they had entered the walls of Alexandria, seeing the dead body's and the burning pit all over the ground.
She vividly searched the faces, looking for anyone familiar, her family, but they were nowhere amongst the dead, small mercies.
"Aunt Nat!" Judith screamed, being the fastest runner. "Uncle Daryl!"
"Mommy! Daddy!" The twins yelled, desperately trying to catch up, RJ running along with them, whilst Evie walked with Archie, a far bit behind, the baby's small legs slowing the pair of them down.
"Babies!" Natalia felt a rush of relief as Judith knocked her down, jumping on the woman and hugging her tight. "Judy, you okay?"
"Missed you" She answered, but they both grunted, when two beings also jumped on them.
"Mommy!" Daisy cheered.
"Mommy, you're back." Bambi kissed her cheeks.
"I told you I'd be back."
"Alright, let yer mama and Jude breath." Daryl lifted the twins, one in each arm, off the pair.
"Delivery." Evie greeted, replacing the three children with a baby.
"Mama." Archie held Natalia's face, as she wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"Hi, baby, did you miss Mommy?" She asked, kissing his cheeks, getting up from the ground.
"He refused to go to sleep because you guys weren't home." RJ shared, hugging Daryl, as he handled the twins, who were using him as a climbing frame.
"Where's Gage?" Evie asked.
"Honey, I'm sorry." Natalia started.
"Oh, I doubted he'd make it, to be honest." She commented, the girl looked more disappointed then devastated.
"Hey, kid put up a fight." Daryl told her, cupping Evie's head and kissing her hair.
"Dad, he weren't a fighter, don' gotta lie to me." She shrugged him off.
"This it?" Carol asked, coming round the corner.
"Yeah." Daryl nodded, in reply, hugging Lydia, whilst Natalia hugged Evie.
"Where's Negan?" Lydia asked, turning to give Natalia one.
"He left." He answered. "He ain't coming back here. Here you go. Just take one." Daryl offered an bucket of apples to the children.
"Oh my god!" Natalia turned around, spotting a familiar face. "Connie!" She almost dropped Archie, if it weren't for Rosita quickly taking him, as she ran to the woman, who wrapped her arms around her. "You look good." She signed.
"So do you." Connie signed back, drawing the opened scar on her own face with her finger.
Love filled the air as they all reunited, but also shared the losses of the ones who gave up their lives, for their community, demounting the supplies from the wagon.
"Hey! Got something coming!" Jerry bellowed, from the watch towers.
"Stay put." Natalia warned the kids, making her way over, Daryl and Maggie following.
"These guys with you?" He asked, as they watched the horses with armed men on top, approach the gates. "Guess not."
"Everyone, get ready!" Daryl warned, as they aimed their weapons.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait!" Eugene repeated, running to the front. "We're all friends. We're all friends."
"Anyone else getting De Ja Vu?" Natalia asked.
"They're here to help." He explained, a grin on his face.
"Ezekiel, Yumiko, and I set out on a journey." Eugene explained, once they had let him in, letting the guards empty supplies from their wagons. "Charged ourselves with finding hope in our darkest of days. Suffice to say we hit the proverbial jackpot. It's probably best that I step aside, so y'all can hear it from the horse's mouth, as it were."
"We ate horse the other day." Daisy commented, rather loudly.
"Shh." Daryl covered her mouth.
"I give you Mr. Lance Hornsby, diplomatic representative of the Commonwealth." Eugene greeted, allowing a man in a three piece suit, to take the "stage" whilst he was the only one to clap for him.
"Hello, I'm Lance." The man introduced himself, but no one even bothered to offer him a smile. "Thank you for allowing us into your home. I must say, I am impressed with everything you've built here and what I've heard of your other communities. But it's clear you've fallen on hard times. And that is where the Commonwealth is more than willing to help. If you remain, we can provide labor and materials to help you build back all you've lost. However, if any are interested I do have another potentially more interesting choice to offer."
"Just get on with it." Natalia called, speeding up his large and spacious speech.
"Yes." He laughed. "Well..."

Scott and Rosita had returned from another run, two weeks later, with survivors, it was a woman and a few kids, the oldest looked seventeen.
It turned out that this woman was a friend of Michonne's, her name was Jocelyn and she had rescued all those kids, taking them under her wing, until she got injured and Rosita had found her.
Jocelyn was taken to the Infirmary, where she had escaped from shortly after, claiming that there were others out there, more children out on their own, more people had gone out to look for them with the woman, Michonne included, and soon enough, they were brought back.
Michonne, who was the current leader of Alexandria, offered them a place to say, seeing as they were vulnerable children, and her and Jocelyn were old friends, Natalia was not slightly jealous, not at all.
Jocelyn had taken quite the interest in Natalia, or more like her pregnancy.
When Natalia had shared that she was nine months along with twins, and that they should be here any day, Jocelyn had demanded for her to take a seat, insisting on waiting on her, shooting Natalia's husband a harsh look for letting the woman walk around and do stuff around the community, even though he hadn't and had been insisting on her taking it easy.
Only a day had passed since Jocelyn and her children had arrived and settled into Alexandria, but a small group of them had gone out to hunt, bringing back quite the treat for the people, putting anything Daryl had ever gathered, to shame.
The Dixons weren't very fond of the woman and her kids, but it had not stopped them taring into the food later that night, as the community sat around a fire, playing games and having fun, little Judith was even sporting cat whiskers, which Evie had drawn on for her.
"Would Evie like to go join the others?" Jocelyn asked
The nine year old was sat next to her mother in the Grimes kitchen, watching her carefully and making sure she was well looked after.
"I'm okay." Evie answered for herself.
"Go on, Eves, have fun." Natalia encouraged, patting down the girls hair. "I'll be alright, dad will let you know if anything changes, which it won't."
The girl looked up at her parents, her eyes swam with worry.
"I got it, Eve, go keep Jude company." Daryl nodded at her.
"Okay." She sighed, as if they were forcing her to do chores. "Love you." She hopped off her stool, kissing Natalia's cheek before Daryl's.
"Love you too, kid." He placed a hand on her blonde head.
"Love you more than Dad does." Natalia called after the girl as she left to go outside with the others.
"Does not." He also called to her retreating back, who waved her parents off.
"She's a good kid." Jocelyn told them.
"She is, yeah." Natalia answered. "She's an aspiring doctor, already, and a great artist, we're very proud of her."
Michonne eyed her friend, who was acting like she had something to prove.
"Wow, you've definitely raised her well." Jocelyn nodded, not picking up on the competitiveness of the woman.
"We have, thank you."
"How is she with walkers?"
Natalia looked up at Daryl.
They had started training her after the war, just like they had planned, it hadn't gone great, the first time they took her out, she had a panic attack, crying about her birth parents, and they had to immediately take her back, the next, it was a real fight for her life, as the one she had managed to stab with her knife, it fell on her whilst it was still alive, Daryl was quick to pull it off her and take it out whilst Natalia scanned the little girl for injury. So far, in two years since, she had killed a total of five walkers.
"She's great," Daryl nodded. "A real walker killer."
"The best." Natalia added.
"Her sisters will be really lucky to have her then, let's hope it runs in the family, in the Dixon blood." The woman smiled at them.
"Yep!" Natalia didn't bother correcting that they had adopted the girl when she was six because both her parents had gotten bit by walkers.
Winnie, a little blonde girl, who made Natalia's chest ache when she met her and revealed her name, came running in with her empty plate, laying it on the island.
"Man, when you said your kids could hunt." Michonne sighed, when she left the house. "I thought maybe a couple squirrels and a slingshot, tops."
"Linus and Winnie did good today." Jocelyn said proudly. "They always do. If it's fine with you guys, I'm sure they'd love to teach Evie, maybe she can help them be as much of an elite walker slayer as your girl." She asked the married couple.
"Oh, our Evie, she's amazing at hunting, right babe?" Natalia lied, looking up at Daryl, who had his hands on her shoulders.
"Yep, taught her everything I know, thanks for the offer though."
"I don't know how you do it." Michonne turned back to Jocelyn, after shooting the two another look. "All those kids. I would go nuts."
Natalia cleared her throat, she was about to give both to her fourth and fifth children, technically she'd only have a total of three, though.
"They take care of me." Jocelyn admitted. "None of the adults in our group made it. They just.... broke. But children, they grow. They learn. They're capable of anything."
"Dad! Come out here with us" Evie called from around the fire, her and Judith were waving at him.
"Uncle Daryl, Uncle Daryl." Judith called.
Daryl looked at Natalia unsurely.
"You really wanna turn them down?" Natalia asked, "See their little faces whilst you break their hearts? Go on."
"Alright, I'll be back in a lil bit, you need anything, give me a shout." He told her, kissing his wife quickly before going out to the children.
"You brought all my kids back to me, and now you're back at it?" Jocelyn asked Michonne, who had been watching the pair wistfully. "Don't even. I know the look." Natalia watched her best friend carefully, not wanting to accept the idea that this woman could know Michonne better than her. "You're going out for your man."
"There is no look." Michonne brushed off.
"Woman, please. Natalia, did you know that in Junior year of college-"
"Oh, God." Michonne sighed.
"What?" Natalia pondered.
"Dean Turner said he needed a thousand signatures before he'd consider Michonne's petition, and the look she gave him when she showed up at his fancy ass Regent's dinner with double that-- that look." She turned back to the woman, pointing at her face.
"That man was an asshole." Michonne defended herself.
"Told you. The look." They laughed, Natalia did as well, though she felt very left out of the conversation. "You already know you're going. So at least you can enjoy this."
"What if I never find him?" Michonne asked.
Natalia stood up, her heart shattering, she knew the news had upset Michonne when Daryl told her he was going to stay in Alexandria for a while, even though she was the one who had encouraged him to be there for Natalia, after she walked out.
"You will." Natalia told Michonne.
"You might not." Jocelyn added, not giving the glare Natalia shot her, attention. "But if you give up now, then you definitely never will. And you can't live with that, can you?"
"I need to know." Michonne agreed. "Judith, this baby," She rubbed her own bump. "They deserve to know."
"So go find him, Mich. You found me after 15 years. Last time I saw you, there was still a world. It can't feel more impossible than that."
Natalia felt ultimately selfish, for wanting Daryl and Michonne in Alexandria, she knew she should of never forced either of them to stay in the walls, she decided that tonight she'd tell Daryl that she wanted him to continue looking for Rick, that'd she'd handle things at home, and when the babies were old enough, she'd join him if he was still out there, Michonne was right, Rick's kids needed their dad, even if it's just to know what had happened to him.
"I am so glad that you are here." Michonne high fived her old college roommate.
"So am I." Jocelyn replied.
Jocelyn had invited Evie to a sleepover with the other children, she had first refused, wanting to be at home with her parents, in case anything happened, but just like the campfire, they had encouraged her to go, if not for herself, but to at least look over Judith, and keep her safe, to which she caved, making sure that as a good cousin, she'd look out for Judith, just like her older brother did for Evie.
Late at night, when Natalia had brought up to Daryl about going out and looking for Rick, he had told her he wasn't leaving, not until she did, even though it killed him not finding his own brother, she was keeping him alive, he meant it when he said he wanted to be there for his wife and children, when he went back to his search, she'd be beside him, they made a promise on it.
The next morning, the Dixons were enjoying breakfast at Michonne's, considering she was in an empty house.
"I swear to God, they're going to be here in the next two days." Natalia groaned, dropping her head onto the table. "I am so sick and tired of being pregnant."
Daryl looked away, feeling bad for the millionth time of putting her through it, even though he didn't mean to.
"You're growing two humans inside you, Nat."
"That's the problem." She looked up at her friend, "I'm only one person, they're tag teaming my ass, hard."
"I was going to say that it's something you should be celebrating, happy about. It's an massive accomplishment."
"Rich coming from someone who's only five months pregnant with her One! baby." She put her finger up. "I swear, I'd give anything for my waters to break today."
"You're gonna jinx yerself." Daryl told her. "Babies are gonna come whenever the time's right, that's what you said."
"What are their names, again?" Michonne asked, the pair hadn't actually bothered to tell anyone, yet.
"Daisy Caroline and Bambi Elizabeth Dixon's." Daryl told her.
"That's beautiful." Michonne smiled widely. "Have you told Carol yet?"
"Not yet, waiting till her and the King come over when they're born." He told her.
"Sure you don't wanna ask your old best bud what she thinks, bet she's already got a kid with those names, who are like super cool and rad." Natalia did jazz hands.
"Nat, are you jealous of Joss?" Michonne asked her, who had placed her head back on the table, she was not in a good mood this morning, the girls had been up all night, rearranging her organs and playing kick Mommy in her bladder whilst sticking our limbs in between her ribs.
"No." She scoffed. "I miss Evie, my favourite child." She scowled to her belly.
Michonne looked at the clock on the wall before getting from the table.
"I'll go get her and Judith, should be ready to come home by now." Michonne said.
"I'll help." Daryl offered, getting up from the table as well.
"Nah, I got it, make sure you feed your wife so she doesn't throw a tantrum and break anything in my house." Michonne petted her best friends hair as she talked about her. "I'll be back in a sec, with mine and your daughters."
Daryl had topped Natalia's bowl with another large spoonful of oatmeal as they waited for their friend to come back.
When they heard shouting in the street, the pair ran, the best they could, out the house, all the parents were stood there, looking around, worried and frustrated looks on all their faces.
"What happened?" Daryl asked.
"Where's Evie?" Natalia continued, not spotting her daughter anywhere. "Mich, where is she?"
Michonne looked between the pair, exasperated.
"What the hell happened?" Daryl pushed.
"The inventory and Infirmary's were both raided, Barry was murdered, they're gone." Scott told them.
Daryl looked along the ground, small bloody footprints led to a manhole.
"What? They- they're gone?" Natalia whimpered. "Where are they? Where's my daughter? Where is she?" She was going into a panic, which was definitely not good for her in her state.
"Hey, hey, look at me" Daryl grabbed her, he was scared for his daughter as well, but he had to make sure his wife and other daughters were safe before leaving her. "We're gonna find them, okay, you know I can track, I'm gonna find them and bring 'em back."
"My baby, she's, she's out there, I promised, I promised I'd never let anything happen to her, I'll go with you." She pushed her hair out of her face, tears were already streaming down her face. "I'll help, I'll find her."
"No." Michonne stepped forward, she too was in a panic, but she was a lot less pregnant than the other woman. "I will, we need you to stay here, we're gonna bring them all back." She looked at the other parents.
"She's out there, and, anything could happen, I need to help." Natalia sobbed as Daryl tried to console her.
"Nah, baby. You can't, we'll bring her back." Daryl muttered. "You gotta stay here, alright, stay here and be safe, for them."
Shortly, Daryl and Michonne left, to go in search for the children of Alexandria, the man had left strict instructions that Natalia wasn't to leave and come after them, knowing the woman well.
Rosita and Aaron had already left for a run the day before, so it was in Eugene's hands that he watch her.
As soon as he had turned his back, when she requested some food, Natalia was out the door.
"Natalia!" Negan's voice came from his cell window as she passed it. "Natalia, don't ignore me, I know that's you."
"What?" She growled, stopping to catch her breath, making sure no one had caught on to her
"I know what you're doing, I heard what happened. You can't go after them."
"Why do you care?"
"Cause I know Daryl told you to stay put, those babies are gonna come any second, he ain't gonna be too happy when he comes back with Evie and you're gone."
"Since when have you ever had my husbands best interest in mind?"
"Since poor Eugene is gonna get it in the neck from him, I also care about you, Natalia, may find it hard to believe, but I do, don't go out there, you're gonna die, plain and simple."
"Go to hell, Negan, my daughters out there." She told him, before continuing on her way, managing to slip out the gates without being noticed, which really was something she'd have to take up at a meeting, considering she was in fact huge, and able to sneak out as easily as she did, it was a security risk.
Natalia had no idea where Jocelyn could take the kids, she didn't even have an idea on where to look.
But she decided to head into the woods, maybe she could look for tracks there, she wasn't thinking straight, but her idea came from their expertise hunting skills.
"Evie?" Natalia called out, when she was surrounded by only tree's. "Evie! Judith!"
The pain that had been bugging her all morning, was coming back with a vengeance, even worse than before, she had been ignoring it as best as she could, not thinking anything of it, Natalia had bigger things to worry about.
She held her stomach as her face screwed up in agony.
"Agh!" She winced, slightly doubling over.
A rustling distracted her, she wasn't alone out here, as it was.
Natalia looked around, her beloved knife, that she hadn't used since she had been grounded a few months ago, was clutched in her fist as she looked around the greenery.
A walker emerged, coming right for her, Natalia ignored the pain, as she kicked the walker back with her boot, she knew she couldn't bend down, so throwing the knife was out of the question, she'd have to get him at a height advantage, but that's when an idea struck her.
Natalia kicked the walker down again, when he had gotten back up, this time landing him flat on his back, she stomped on his chest as she reached for a low branch, snapping it off, it was long enough for her to plunge into the walkers head, killing it.
"Mommy's still got it." She whispered, rubbing her bump, the pain had miraculously gone away, which was good, because another walker appeared, this time it was a woman, closer in her height, giving her a better advantage.
This time, Natalia used her knife, as her babies acted as a barrier letting her stab the walker through the eye without letting it touch her.
When no more appeared, Natalia continued on, keeping a hold of the stick, just in case, though the pain had come back, even worse, but she gritted her teeth as she carried on walking, she had no other options, Evie was out here with psychos, and so was Judith.
Natalia had ventured even further into the woods, when she felt a wet gush seep down her legs, when the pain was becoming even more advanced and more common.
She looked down at the denim, It was indeed soaked.
"No, no, no, no, girls, I didn't mean today, that was just a joke." She cried, when the realisation she was going into labour, in the middle of the woods, alone, hit. "Not now, why? Stay in there."
And just her luck, a small group of walkers appeared, snarling and growling at her.
"This is the two of you's fault." She grumbled, backing up away from the walkers.
Natalia kicked the first walker that had come at her, stomping on it as she stabbed her knife into another's throat, hitting the brain, before stomping hard on the ground walkers skull, when another had reached her, she pushed the blade through the side of it's face, three down, two to go.
She kicked the forth one, but a wave of pain crashed over her, as she screamed through her clenched jaw, the last walker had grabbed a hold of her, as she tried pushing it off.
A gun shot had sounded, then another.
Natalia opened her eyes, the last two walkers were dead, she turned to where the sound came from, a woman with long reddish blonde hair was stood ahead of her, a gun pointed at her head.
"Don't shoot." Natalia put her hands in the air, in surrender, even though it felt like it was going to rip her in half.
"Are you bit?" The woman asked, she looked a good ten years older than Natalia, probably the same age as Daryl, she looked cold, as well, she definitely looked like she was capable of shooting a pregnant woman without batting an eye.
"No, but I am in Labour, can I put my hands down?" Natalia groaned.
"Yeah, of course." The woman's face softened only slightly, as she put her gun away, taking a step towards the woman. "Wait, you're in labour right now?"
"Uh huh." Natalia nodded, doubling over as she caught her breath through the pain.
"What are you doing out here?"
"My daughter, she's missing, it just happened." Her face was screwed up.
"I got a cabin, come back with me." The woman offered.
"You live out here, in the middle of the woods?"
"Yes, come on." She took hold of Natalia's arm, a hand on her back as she helped her walk, whilst keeping an eye out for walkers. "Guessing you're the woman I heard screaming earlier, as well."
"I gotta find my daughter." Natalia told her.
"No, what you need to do, is get somewhere safe whilst the baby is in the process of being born." The woman was stern, a voice that made Natalia decide to not argue with her. "Seriously, what kinda dumb are you to decide to have a baby in this kind of world, must be a special type of stupid."
"It wasn't exactly planned, didn't want any other kids but my girl."
"You either have really shitty luck or you're just really reckless. Kid's don't survive in this kind of world." The woman said.
"You're telling me." Natalia squeaked, crushing the strangers hand. "But... but they do, they can, if you look after them right, it ain't all lost."
"That's why your daughters missing and you're gonna end up giving birth in the woods." She told her.
"Alright, fair enough." She whimpered.
"Why the hell are you even out here alone, are you by yourself?"
"Just decided to go for a hike in the woods, y'know, exercise is good!" She cried out half of her sentence, Natalia thought she was going to go blind by the pain.
"We're nearly there, alright, we're close, just hold on a little more." The woman told her. "What's your name?"
"N- Natalia." She breathed. "Yours?"
The woman didn't answer.
"Lady, you're about to see my whole world, it'd make us both feel better if I at least knew your name."
"Leah." She answered, after a moment of thought. "My cabins there." She pointed at the small house made of wood.
She gained a sharp cry in response.
Leah led Natalia into her home, Natalia instantly crashed on the sofa she guided her to, laying flat on her back.
"Uh, I've never done this before, but I got some experience in patching people up." Leah confessed.
"Don't worry, this isn't my first rodeo, but that time, it was in a hospital and drugs." Natalia sobbed as Leah undid the buttons of her dungarees, pulling them down.
"Your daughters birth?" Leah asked. "Evie's her name, right?" She had heard her shouting it out in the woods.
"No, my other daughter, but she didn't make it. Evie was a friend's kid, I- I took her in, it was her dads dying wish" She didn't know why she was telling Leah this, the pain must be numbing her defensive wall.
"I know what you mean." Leah looked down, as she continued to pull the jean part of her outfit down, leaving her in just panties and a top. "You mind if I?"
"Go ahead." She threw her head back as she carried on letting the pain eat at her.
"You have an accent, where are you from?" Leah thought it might help if she got her to continue talking, whilst she undressed her.
"Savannah, Georgia." Natalia confessed.
"Wow, you're a long way away from home." Leah huffed, as she took a look at the birth canal of the woman she had just met in the woods, she was definitely about to give birth.
"Thought this place would be safer, been here for a while, a Georgian accent is hard to shake."
"Okay, I'm gonna go get some stuff, you just stay here, okay?"
"Where the hell do you think I'm gonna go?" Natalia snapped, as the woman got up, running further into her house.
A dog had come walking out of one of the rooms Leah went into, a Belgian Malinois, the dog came up to Natalia, sniffing her, before laying her head on the woman's chest, letting out a whine as it could pick up that she was in pain.
"Hey." Natalia whispered, kissing the dogs fur, scratching along it's neck.
"Willow, come." Leah ordered the dog, her hands were full of towels, she was also carrying a bucket full of warm water.
"It's okay, I love dogs, I haven't seen one in almost two years." Natalia told her, almost begging to let the dog stay.
"She's a sap for anything tiny and weak." Leah scoffed.
"Gonna let that slide because you're helping me, but I need you to know that any given day, I'd so beat your ass." Natalia grinded her teeth as she threw her head back against the couch cushions, again.
"I fought in Afghanistan before this." Leah told her.
"I worked in a coffee shop, what's your point?" She really was an open book today.
"How tall are you, like 4,11?" Leah set out the towels, dabbing a wet one over Natalia's face.
"No, at least 5,2, at least. I've taken out grown men bigger than you and I combined. Not to gloat, or anything."
"No, don't worry, I believe you." Leah moved to take another look, setting a towel over her legs to give some sort of make believe privacy. "Alright, if you feel the need to push at any point, go for it."
"Got it." Natalia was out of breath as she dealt with the pain.
"Why don't you tell me about the father, y'know who he is?"
"Yes, I know who the father of my children are, I'm married to him." Natalia snapped, raising her left hand to show off her rings.
"Did you meet him before or after?"
"After, eight months in."
"So is the marriage real?"
"Yeah, we got a priest friend, he like legalised it in the name of God, or whatever."
"Okay, so tell me about your husband, what's his name? Where is he?"
"His name's Daryl, we've been married for two years, he's out looking for Evie with my best friend."
"So you got a whole group of people?"
"No, no we don't, uh... just a few of us, barely surviving, to be honest." Normally Natalia was a very talented liar, today was not one of those times.
"So what does your husband, Daryl, do, Natalia?"
"Archer, he- he's real good with a crossbow, an outside kinda man- he, uh, he hunts as well, Daryl's great at everything, best thing that ever came out of this world was meeting him, I wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for him, I'm real lucky to have him, I love that man, with everything I got, even after he did this to me." She cried out from the pain, once again. "He's beautiful, no wonder we're right here."
"He sounds lucky enough to have someone in his life to describe him like that, men aint that great to have in this world."
"You're telling me, we had this place, a prison, built it up from the ground, but it- it was destroyed, and so we fled, at one point, it was just me and him, after we lost someone real special to us, then we met this group, real bad group of guys. I'm gonna push now!" She cut herself off, feeling the urge to.
"Alright, okay, bite on this." She stuffed Natalia's belt into her mouth, after removing the weapons and sterilising one of the knifes in the bathroom, she then had a look under the towel, definitely seeing a crown.
Natalia's screams came out muffled as she bit down on the belt, Leah helped guide the baby into the world, as it began wailing.
"It's a girl." Leah announced, cradling the new born as she used the clean cloth to clean her up.
Natalia panted, watching Leah handle her baby girl.
"Is she okay?" Natalia asked, she was drenched in sweat and flushed.
"I think so, yeah, ten fingers and ten toes, everything looks in order." Leah recalled, as she took in the baby, before wrapping her up, laying the tiny thing on her mothers chest, letting Natalia cradle her daughter as she wept in delight.
"She's beautiful." Natalia kissed the tiny girls head, as tears continued to track down her face "Hey, hi." She whispered.
"Natalia, how many babies are you expecting?" Leah asked, taking a look for haemorrhaging, but finding something else, another head crowning.
"Twins, oh God, I'm having twins, forgot to mention that." She placed the belt back in her mouth, as she ran a finger across her first baby's hairline, taking her in, already, she could see so much of Daryl, she was probably just being a typical mom, but Natalia truly believed she gave birth to beautiful children, she was two for two at the moment, without including the miscarriage she had, that didn't resemble much of a baby and more of a fairly big blood clot.
The baby in her arms distracted her a lot from the pain as she gave birth to the second twin, though it was a pain in the ass as much as the first.
"Another girl." Leah whispered, checking her over, the baby was silent.
"Why isn't she crying?" Natalia asked, looking up, "She should be crying."
Leah's hands slightly shook as she listened to the baby closely, not hearing breathing either, she flipped the infant over, her mouth facing the ground as she patted her back, eventually, drawing cries from the new born.
"She's okay." Leah confirmed, cleaning the baby up when she was satisfied the baby was alive and well, wrapping her up in a towel and placing her on the other side of Natalia's chest. "Do they have names?"
"Yeah.... Daisy and Bambi." She nodded at each baby, Daisy was the older one, Bambi was the younger sister.
