Interesting Times

Had a short conversation with Adrienne by Facebook - the only way to communicate with her since last Christmas.  I have tried text messages and email and there was no response. She tells me she wants to go and live in Wellington - I wished her luck with this new venture!  Heavens knows why she wants to live down there - as her brother (Aaron moved to Australia) , relatives (Chris Motu moved to Tauranga) and friends (Jonah died).  But it is her life and I won’t oppose her move - I am the last person that she would listen to anyway  and so my opinions are not counted!  Adrienne lived in Jonah’s apartment in Central Wellington in 2004.  She worked in a Call Centre - where she contacted people about their debts.  She hated the job and went from a size 8 to a size 18 - it was really unbelievable to see.  She said it was because she spent a lot of time at Aaron’s house in Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt and all she did there was eat! 

Talking about weight - I have gone from a size 20 to 16 in the last few months.  I have a problem with sleeping - quite often I am waking up every three hours and the only way to get back to sleep - is to have a snack! So what I have been doing in order to counteract this is to starve myself during the daytime.  So quite often I only eat one sandwich at lunchtime and I then spend three hours at the library every afternoon completing my genealogy research on the public computers and then arrive home at 6.30pm. I then have my first proper meal at 7.30pm. But that is the problem - because I can’t stop eating from 7.30pm and then throughout the night.  So I have decided to increase my dosage of seroquel meds - so that I can get a good night’s sleep. It's a great opportunity to be able to do the research into my genealogy because I am no longer required to look for a job (I am on the pension now), bus trips are free, computers are free, genealogy sites are free through the Auckland Libraries.  I have to keep reminding myself of how lucky I am! Meanwhile, Desiree and Siua spend every school holiday - leaving Auckland and staying somewhere in NZ or going overseas. In two days time, they will be flying to the Cook Islands and staying for five days. They are going to attend Clarisse’s wedding - her second cousin and apparently, Lia is going to be a Flower Girl at this wedding.  At first, I was a bit miffed at not being invited - but I realized that ship had left the port years ago. I wouldn’t want to be there with Anne (Jim’s sister) who has the mentality of a teenager. She turned up at Mata’s funeral in totally inappropriate clothes I thought - Jeans, woolen cardigan and woolen hat!  It was extremely cold - I wore ankle boots and a grey coat.  Adrienne was very excited to see Anne on the footpath outside the church in Ponsonby and dragged her over to meet us!  I could see that Anne wasn't interested and we certainly were not interested in talking to her. Good try Adrienne - but it didn’t work! I was standing on the footpath with Jim and Desiree. Marie is only interested in people who have flash jobs.  Marie is Clarisse’s mother. Her husband Equator always looks like a gangster and is extremely lazy.  I say that because a few years ago when my daughters were young - we went to visit Marie, Equator and their children in West Auckland on one Saturday and Jim happened to be with us for some reason!  (I say that because Jim had been living with Scary Mary for quite a few years at that stage.  We call her Scary Mary - when Jim and Mary were younger than what they are now - they use to beat each other up on a frequent basis! Mary use to attack Jim with her claws and Jim would often come to my house in Hamilton looking for sympathy - because he had deep scratch marks on his face. They looked horrific!  Everyone kept telling Jim to leave Mary for many years and they are still together today - 32 years later.  Jim began living with Mary - when I was pregnant with Desiree! Jim is the father of Desiree). Anyway, the reason why I say that Equator is extremely lazy - Marie demanded Jim mow their lawn - which he did while Equator sat in their house!  I was so disgusted - I did not visit again for several years!  Every time we went to visit Marie (like every few years) she kept saying that she wanted Jim to stay with her and paint their house for nothing!  The way she wanted to treat Jim (her uncle) was appalling and disgusting.  Jim is Anne’s brother and an uncle to Marie.  Of course, Jim never did paint Marie’s house or stay with her! Last summer Anne’s husband died (for most of their married life they had lived in New Caledonia (from approximately 1975 to 2010) where John worked as a carpenter and Anne worked as a domestic in hotels).  During those years John never came back to New Zealand - however, Anne use to come back to New Zealand occasionally.  So I never got to meet John even though I had heard a lot about him through Jim and his mother (Manongiholoatu Iese) - when she was alive.  So when John died I decided it wasn’t my place to attend the funeral as I wasn’t on good terms with Anne - but that is another story.  Suffice to say briefly when Jim and I lived in the South Island for five years - we stayed in Auckland one summer with Anne, Manogiholoatu, Heather (Anne’s daughter who has lived in the USA since 2002) - the year was 1979 to 81. During this stay, Jim was made to sleep on a bean bag for two weeks and Adrienne and I shared a single bed. I thought that this was a deplorable treatment of Jim.  On New Year’s - we stayed up all night and then Anne kicked us out of the house at 6.00am the next morning.  We left $100,00 worth of groceries behind.  Jim and I had gone shopping the day before. The next day - Jim decided to drag Adrienne and me off to the horse races in Ellerslie - which was very boring - because I don’t gamble. After the races had finished at 4.00pm - we then drove to Whakatane and stayed with Barry and Pat and their seven children. Barry committed suicide in about 1990 and Pat died of lung cancer a few years later - they were both still very young.  They were Jim’s age and he is now 77 years old. Anyway getting back to John’s funeral - I decided that it wasn’t my place to attend his funeral in Auckland last summer.  However, Adrienne informed me that she was going to the funeral with her cousin Chris Motu and sent a text to me - that I wasn’t to be seen hanging out with her at the funeral.  Approximately one month before John’s funeral - we had another blazing row at Christmastime - Adrienne and me.  (On that occasion, Adrienne had thrown me out of her house and thrown all of my Christmas presents (about 20 presents) onto the lawn! Just madness - I have never behaved like that with Adrienne in her whole life.  Suffice to say - I won’t be spending Christmas with Adrienne ever again.  I just could not go through all that stress again - I am too old to be thrown out of peoples houses over Christmastime or at any time for that matter!)  I had no intention of going to John’s funeral - even before Adrienne’s demand that I would not be welcome in hanging out with her and Chris Motu.  I suppose Adrienne cannot help herself - she is a replica of her aunt Anne - chucking people out of houses! Anyway I know where I stand now - as Doctor Phill (a television show which is televised at at 12.00 noon every weekday) said the following - “everyone has their threshold for pain”.  I reached “my threshold of pain” with Adrienne last Christmas - I won’t be having Christmas with her again!  Now Adrienne is running around telling everyone about Uncle John - even though she had never met him or spoken to him in whole life - which has made Desiree really angry! I was shocked that Jim decided that he did not want to go to John’s funeral or to his cousin’s funeral - which was about a month after John’s funeral.  Jim had grown up with Sau his cousin and the cousin’s daughter Daphne on Niue Island . However, Adrienne also went to Sau’s funeral as well.  I must bring this to a close and go and make some dinner.  Yeah - I have no wish to go to Clarisse’s wedding.  I wonder if Adrienne is going - she has been invited.  But not Matheus as Clarisse and her partner have decided that they don’t want children at their wedding apart from Desiree and Siua’s children.
