Honda Unveils ICON E & CUV E Electric Motorbikes in Indonesia
In a significant world premiere, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) introduced two innovative electric motorcycles, the Honda ICON e: and Honda CUV e:, marking a strong push towards green mobility in Indonesia. These two models are not just motorcycles; they represent Honda's ongoing commitment to sustainability and electrification. Both motorcycles are designed to cater to a wide range of rider needs, from city commuting to more demanding riding experiences. With this release, AHM is making a clear statement about its dedication to the environment and offering solutions that promote zero-emission transportation in the country.
A Bold Step Towards Sustainability
Honda has long been known for its commitment to providing reliable, efficient, and high-tech transportation solutions. With the Honda ICON e: and Honda CUV e:, the company is taking this to the next level by offering eco-friendly alternatives to traditional motorcycles. This launch is a part of Honda’s larger electrification strategy, which is aimed at reducing carbon emissions and providing consumers with high-quality electric motorcycles that are both practical and sustainable.
These two new models join Honda’s existing electric lineup, which already includes the Honda EM1 e: and the EM1 e: Plus. With this growing selection of electric motorcycles, AHM is giving Indonesian consumers more options for cleaner, greener transportation. These motorcycles are not only good for the environment but are also packed with modern technology, making them attractive options for both daily commuters and those who need a bit more power and range for longer trips.
The Honda ICON e:
The Honda ICON e: is designed specifically for city dwellers who need a quick, reliable, and easy-to-handle motorcycle for their daily commutes. It combines style, agility, and practicality, making it an ideal choice for navigating urban streets. Some of its standout features include:
Compact & Stylish Design: The ICON e: boasts a sleek, modern design that is compact enough to easily navigate busy city streets. Its small size makes it incredibly agile, allowing riders to zip through traffic with ease. Despite its compact design, it still manages to stand out with its bold colors and smooth lines.
Battery & Range: The ICON e: is powered by a 1.8 KW motor, which allows it to reach a top speed of 55 km/h. On a full charge, it can travel up to 53 km, which is perfect for city commuting. The battery is designed to be flexible, with options for both direct charging and removal for off-board charging. Charging the battery from empty to full takes approximately 7 hours and 20 minutes.
Riding Modes: Riders can choose between two modes—ECON mode, which is designed for more energy-efficient riding, and STD mode, which provides regular performance for everyday use.
Color Options: The ICON e: comes in five vibrant color options: Iconic Mint, Iconic Orange, Iconic Red, Iconic White, and Iconic Matte Black, allowing users to select a style that best fits their personality.
Pricing: The Honda ICON e: is priced between IDR 28-32 million on the road in DKI Jakarta, making it a competitively priced option for those looking to transition to electric mobility.
The Honda CUV e:
While the ICON e: is designed for city riders, the Honda CUV e: is aimed at those who need more performance and productivity from their motorcycle. This model is built for more robust use and comes with several advanced features that make it a standout option for those who want a bit more power and range.
Futuristic Design: The CUV e: has a striking futuristic design, with sharp lines and a bold aesthetic that makes it look premium and modern. This design isn’t just about looks; it also contributes to the motorcycle’s aerodynamics and overall performance.
Battery & Range: The CUV e: is powered by a 6 KW motor, which allows it to reach speeds of up to 83 km/h. On a single charge, it can travel up to 80.7 km, making it a great option for longer trips. The motorcycle is equipped with two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries, which are swappable, allowing riders to extend their range without having to wait for a full recharge.
Charging & Connectivity: The CUV e: offers flexible charging options, with batteries that can be swapped or charged off-board. It also features Honda RoadSync Duo, a connectivity system that links the motorcycle with the rider's smartphone, offering enhanced functionality and convenience.
Riding Modes: The CUV e: comes with three riding modes—ECON, STD, and Sport. These modes allow the rider to choose the best setting for their current conditions, whether they’re looking to conserve energy or enjoy a more thrilling ride.
Color Options: The CUV e: is available in several sleek color options, including Stellar Matte White, Stellar Matte Silver, and Stellar Matte Black. There are also special Quantum variants available for the RoadSync Duo model.
Pricing: The Honda CUV e: is priced between IDR 53-57 million (including batteries), with the RoadSync Duo variant priced between IDR 57-61 million in DKI Jakarta.
Expanding Honda’s Electric Network
In addition to launching these two exciting new models, AHM is also expanding its service network to support its growing lineup of electric motorcycles. By the end of 2024, nearly all Honda dealerships in Indonesia will offer dedicated service centers for electric motorcycles, ensuring that owners have access to the best possible support and after-sales service.
Honda’s commitment to building a comprehensive service network is part of its broader strategy to make electric motorcycles a viable and attractive option for more consumers. Whether it’s through expanding its service network, offering flexible charging options, or providing a range of models to suit different needs, Honda is positioning itself as a leader in the electric motorcycle market in Indonesia.
Conclusion
The Honda ICON e: and Honda CUV e: are two exciting additions to AHM’s growing lineup of electric motorcycles. Whether you’re a city commuter looking for a compact, stylish ride or someone who needs more power and range for longer trips, these two models offer something for everyone. With their advanced technology, flexible charging options, and stylish designs, both motorcycles are perfect for riders who want to make the switch to electric mobility without sacrificing performance or style. As Honda continues to expand its service network and develop more electric models, it’s clear that the company is committed to leading the charge towards a more sustainable future in Indonesia.

Bicycles kick a lot of ass these days. When I was a kid, a bicycle would only go as fast as you could pedal. Maybe, if you were really a huge asshole, you could take the bus to the big city and buy one of those mini-moped kits from a motorcycle shop. Then you could break playground-zone speed limits with enough two-stroke burble and pop to arouse every police officer within thirty miles.
Nowadays, you can slap some Chinese-made wonder magic on your Norco and do three or four horsepower without even knowing how to solder. In fact, it's much better if you don't know anything about electronics, because that level of knowledge will prevent you from extracting the maximum value out of your investment of "some vape batteries" and "a motor I found on Amazon whose name YouTube can't consistently pronounce." Electrical engineers are just too damn afraid of fire to go really fast.
Sure, you have to show fealty to the all-knowing microcontroller inside the magic motor box. Pinky-swear to it that you live in the hypothetical lawless wonderland that would allow you to have this much wheel-bending, mind-melting torque on a public pedestrian pathway. Honestly, it's its own fault if it believes a shifty character such as yourself. Not that the local cops are going to pull over Bob Tongsheng on his way to deposit your money in his bank, either. It's this kind of primitive hot-rodding that once made this country great: neglecting the existence or worth of anyone and everything outside of your vehicle in lieu of Go Fast.
Sure, this sort of thing will only last for awhile. Pathways are already filling up with lots of zingy e-mopeds and e-deathscoots, ridden by perfectly normal people. Your 1500-watt stealth bomber build is going to get pulled on by a pensioner within a year or two, as the market begins to demand enough cargo room (and rollover protection!) to do a once-a-month Costco run with the entire fam in tow. Inevitably, the cops are going to have to crack down on the whole deal, too.
For a glorious, shining moment, you too can dig a rusty mountain bike out of a creek and have it doing 50 miles an hour by watching a YouTube video. That's something previous generations simply could not have imagined. Which is their loss, really. If they had gotten off their asses earlier and figured out the lithium-ion battery, we could all be driving $100 50-horsepower ebikes right now instead of having to pay Big Battery for the "latest and greatest" in burning your garage down.

Buster Moon's Total Sing 1 Crime Counter
In a recent rewatch of the Sing movies, I decided to keep a running tab on the amount of crimes that Buster could hypothetically be charged with. And there were... a lot. This list is a lowball estimate in a lot of the numbers provided and I will say that I am not a lawyer, I just looked this all up. So is this perfectly legally sound? No, but then again, neither are these movies. So... have fun!
-----
Failure of payment for employees/Breach of Contract (x4)
At the start of the film, we see that Buster has not paid the stage crew of his latest show by giving them paychecks that bounced and not providing them with compensation after finding this out. We only see four of them, but for all we know, there could be more crew that were out of frame.
Traffic violations (x6)
Okay look, that biking through town scene was cute but bikes are supposed to obey traffic laws and ummm... Buster did not. Man went straight through intersections like he was playing real life Frogger. There were probably more than six to be honest but that's at least the ones we saw.
Loitering
Now this is grey area, but Buster could, hypothetically, be fined for loitering on private property (ie. in the restaurant) since he was never planning on actually purchasing anything from the business. It would be a hard case, but it, technically, has happened before.
Hiring discrimination
While I love Johnny, the only reason Buster did not hire Daniel the giraffe for the talent show was because he refused to make accommodations for the boy's height, which could be discrimination based on either a disability or genetic information. I'm not entirely sure which one Daniel's height would classify as in universe which is why I listed both.
Breach of Contract/Fraud (x7)
Due to the prize money being stated in writing and the talent show cast being hired under the understanding that they would have a potential of getting that compensation/it was available to them, it is illegal that he did continue to lie about that when he had no means or real intention to provide it (I know he tries to get the money, but when he hired them, he had no intention of paying any of them $100,000).
Energy Diversion
Stealing electricity from your neighbors is, unsurprisingly, a crime.
Aiding and Abetting the Delinquency of a Minor
This is only due to Meena was technically an accomplice to the energy diversion since Buster got her to help so, technically it could be argued that its aiding and abetting and she does seem to be implied to still be a kid.
Unsafe Working Conditions (x8)
That theatre is falling apart at the seams and the fact someone got hospitalized as a result only goes to further prove the conditions being unsafe. I really need to read up on OSHA because that theatre is probably breaking all the codes.
Negligence
So Pete (everyone remembers him right?) gets absolutely slammed in the face with a sand bag due to a series of events caused by Buster and ends up in hospital. Not only could he be sued for damages, he could get charged with negligence as well for that.
Trespassing (x2)
When building the water stage for the theatre we see Buster on both Les Calmars's (the restaurant's) private property and on another building's roof to access the water tower. Both are trespassing.
Water Theft
This should shock no one but stealing water from a water tower is illegal.
Vandalism
Plastering the ads for the squids on the front of Les Calmars is vandalism technically so that's fun.
Aiding and Abetting the Delinquency of a Minor (x4)
Buster did drag Meena into helping him with all of this meaning, yes, she has now committed five crimes due to him.
Unsafe Working Conditions (x108)
So I am not gonna count all of those squids. I'm not sure the number is even consistent to be completely honest with you. So we're going just go with it being 100 and move on to the fact that water stage was in no way up to code and created really unsafe environments for all his employees.
Negligence (x108)
His employees were not only trapped in a flooded building due to him but were also in a hostage situation. There is no way everyone walked away scratch free so this is here just as a catch all.
Endangerment of a Minor (x2)
Now, I am solely basing this off headcanon but if not just put these as two more tallies in the endangerment category, but Johnny and Meena seem to be around 16-17 years old in this movie. And, you know, he got them trapped in a flooding and collapsing building.
Endangerment (x112)
This is for everyone else, squids included, he got trapped in a flooding and collapsing building.
Public Nudity
The man changes into a speedo on the side of the road. Might be out of frame but still counts.
Public Menace
Look, this is legally described as "using threats or conduct to put someone else in fear of imminent danger"... and I don't know about y'all but the whole watch party felt in fear of imminent danger watching that bloody car wash scene okay?! They are cleaning the cars with their bodies. That's weird.
Trespassing
The destroyed theatre was property of the bank when they went back to it y'all, that is textbook trespassing. Like Judith even points it out later.
Vandalism
And while cleaning up the debris and making the stage was cool and all, not his stuff anymore so it could be charged as vandalism. It might be a hard case due to them technically cleaning up but still could be charged as vandalism. And even if it isn't, the destruction of the property definitely would be. So pick which one you want to count this as.
Loitering
Remaining on bank property despite knowing he was not allowed to be there is not allowed in a court of law apparently.
Aiding and Abetting the Delinquency of a Minor (x4)
He did encourage both Johnny and Meena to help rebuild the stage, so at the least they would be loitering and trespassing.
Aiding and Abetting (x5)
And this is for the rest of the troupe + Mike which he encouraged to help as well.
Failure to Comply
Another grey area one, but since he was given a verbal warning (that likely had legal backing to it), Buster could technically be hypothetically charged with a Failure to Comply with a court order to stay off the property/leave the property when Judith told him too.
Aiding and Abetting the Delinquency of a Minor (x2)
And the encouraging Meena and Johnny to stay at the show and not just leave (you could argue that was Ash but they are kids and he is their boss so he technically is in charge of them right now).
Aiding and Abetting (x88)
This is a combo one of Aiding and Abetting the adults of the troupe to stay and encouraging the crowd to trespass! He's the host, he is technically the ring leader here, he would get in trouble for it. Also, I'm not counting everyone + there are too many different heights that that count would likely not be accurate so let's just go with 88 and move on.
Final Crime Count for Sing 1: 365 individual crimes!
Buster... why? Just why? One for every day of the year. You did not need to do that.
#sing#sing 2016#sing buster#buster moon#the reactions to the live tally were hysterical btw#no one could believe it#look im not an attorney#this is likely no where near legally sound#but it was fun#i have another for sing 2 for buster klaus and jimmy#so those will be here soon#oh long posts how ive missed you

Indonesia's EV Communities: Powering the Future of Electric Mobility
The Indonesian Electric Car Community, known as Koleksi, recently celebrated three years of championing the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country. Founded on May 21, 2021, Koleksi has made remarkable strides in promoting green energy and sustainable transportation in Indonesia.
Fast-Growing Community
Since its establishment, Koleksi has rapidly expanded across the nation, now boasting over 200 active members. A significant portion of the community, more than 90%, resides in the Jabodetabek area, which includes Banten and Bandung. These members come from various backgrounds, driving a range of EV brands and models. Koleksi stands as the first and largest EV user association in Indonesia, playing a crucial role in advocating for sustainable energy in the transportation sector.
Despite the early stages of EV adoption in Indonesia, Koleksi has quickly positioned itself as a leading force in the movement. It brings together EV owners from all walks of life, united by a shared vision: creating a greener, more sustainable future for the country’s transportation infrastructure. The community is driven by the goal of making a positive impact on both the environment and the nation's energy landscape.
Official Recognition and Support
One of Koleksi's proudest accomplishments is being officially recognized by the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI). This endorsement has elevated the community’s credibility and strengthened its role as the leading EV association in Indonesia. Recognition from IMI is not just a badge of honor but also a vital step in advancing Koleksi’s mission to accelerate EV adoption nationwide.
With IMI’s support, Koleksi has become a powerful voice in the growing EV ecosystem in Indonesia. This recognition helps the community influence key decisions and policies aimed at expanding the country’s electric vehicle infrastructure. Koleksi’s efforts are paving the way for a future where electric vehicles are a common sight on Indonesian roads.
Program Innovations Driving Impact
Beyond its growing membership, Koleksi has been actively engaging with key stakeholders from various sectors. The community’s initiatives focus on legal, technological, educational, and environmental aspects, fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors. These programs aim to create a holistic approach to promoting sustainable transportation and responsible energy use.
Koleksi has launched several impactful initiatives, including awareness campaigns that highlight the importance of clean energy and proper waste management. One of the community’s key focuses is educating the public on the responsible disposal of electronic waste, particularly EV batteries, to ensure that the shift to green energy does not create new environmental challenges.
By working closely with government agencies, private companies, and other organizations, Koleksi is ensuring that its efforts extend far beyond just promoting electric cars. Their work encompasses a broader goal of integrating sustainable practices into the nation’s transportation and energy systems. This forward-thinking approach has made Koleksi a pioneer in the push for a cleaner, more eco-friendly Indonesia.
Key Milestone – 3rd Anniversary Celebration
Koleksi marked its third anniversary with a grand celebration at the Ibis Style Hotel in BSD, Tangerang, last Sunday. The event not only commemorated the community’s achievements but also served as a rallying call for all stakeholders in the EV industry to join the green energy movement. The event's theme, "Small Step, Big Impact," emphasized that even small efforts can lead to significant environmental change.
Coinciding with the anniversary celebration, Koleksi held its first National Conference (Munas), where new leaders were elected to serve from 2024 to 2027. This gathering underscored the community’s growth and the need for stronger leadership as it continues to expand. The new leaders are expected to guide Koleksi through its next phase, ensuring that the community remains at the forefront of Indonesia’s EV movement.
Partnership with the Government and Private Sector
A key factor in Koleksi's success has been its collaboration with both government institutions and private enterprises. The community’s initiatives are aligned with national sustainability objectives, making it a crucial player in Indonesia’s journey toward widespread EV adoption.
Koleksi’s partnerships with government agencies allow them to work directly with policymakers to advocate for favorable regulations and policies that support the use of electric vehicles. These interactions are essential for creating an environment where EVs can thrive, ensuring that the necessary infrastructure, incentives, and legal frameworks are in place to facilitate growth.
In addition to government collaborations, Koleksi has formed strong partnerships with automobile manufacturers, green energy providers, and waste management companies. These relationships ensure that the community’s impact extends beyond just driving EVs; they are contributing to the development of an integrated system that supports sustainable transportation and responsible resource use.
By working hand-in-hand with both public and private sectors, Koleksi is laying the groundwork for a future where electric vehicles are not only common but also a key part of Indonesia’s push toward environmental sustainability.
Road to Success – A Greener Future Ahead
As it celebrates three years of progress, Koleksi has already made significant contributions to the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia. The community has grown in both size and influence, establishing itself as a key player in the nation’s green energy movement.
Looking ahead, Koleksi is committed to continuing its advocacy for policies that promote the EV industry. The community plans to deepen its partnerships with the government, private sector, and the public to ensure that electric vehicles become a central part of Indonesia’s transportation network. Their long-term vision is clear: to get more people on the road with electric vehicles, driving the country toward a greener, more sustainable future.
With a strong foundation built over the past three years, Koleksi is poised for even greater success in the coming years. The community’s efforts are not just about promoting electric vehicles but about creating lasting change in the way Indonesia approaches transportation and energy use.
In the years to come, Koleksi aims to be a driving force in making electric vehicles accessible to all Indonesians. Their work is far from over, but with the momentum they’ve built so far, the future looks bright for both the community and the nation’s journey toward a cleaner, greener tomorrow.

༄ MISSION: OUR SUMMER― looking out for you
𝜗𝜚 ―H.KAI 【휴닝카이】 VERSION || NIGHT EDITION.
HE SWORE HIS HEART BEATS TRIPLE WHEN HE SEES YOU. hyuka was seated on his thick blanket he had cleanly prepared, turning to his bedside table to check the time. 9:53am. his eyes trailed to the side, towards a photograph of you and kai as kids at a park, doing peace signs and smiling as bright as the sun.
he tenderly smiles at the sight of the pair, an inseparable duo since kindergarten. like two peas in a pod.
his chocolate eyes draw over back to his bed and his crisp sheets. he looks up, his attention lingering to the guitars on the wall. 2 acoustic, one electric.
the beige body of the first acoustic was decorated in colourful, dried stickers and the neck sprinkled in star stickers representing the simple notes. it had built up some wear and tear because it was his childhood guitar that was always a little too big for him. 6-year-old hyuka loved to perform little concerts for you and his siblings.
he had received his second acoustic on his 13th birthday, and immediately fell in love with it. the body had significantly less stickers than the last, a new edition of a scratched up with a silver tuner clipped to the top. 13-year-old hyuka thought he was the coolest boy in town. he had written so many songs about you unconsciously on it, holding this guitar close to his heart
the latest guitar was the cleanest, an electric guitar that you had bought him a couple years before. it was a sleek mint, your attempt to find a cute colour yet one he'd love. he treasured all his instruments, but especially this one... had sentimental value.
snapping from his dash of nostalgia, his nintendo switch chirps. he quickly glances at his keyboard and other trinkets in his room, before taking his switch out of the station with a click. it was daintily decorated, with a small lyric in the corner; "you got a smile that could light up the whole planet!" from tyler the creator's 'SWEET / I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE'.
his switch trills as he turns it on, scrolling through his recently played games and landing on animal crossing new horizons. he logs on, noticing you're online and working on your island. he remembers the last time he had come over; you both had been villager hunting.
something in his head suddenly clicks, and he remembers he had left his childhood cd over at your home. he abruptly gets up, obliviously forgetting to change his clothes (it's not like it matters).
kai forgetting items at your house was a common occurrence and was an innocent excuse to spend time with you. his hoodie in the winter, scarf in fall, and hat in spring.
he hops on his bike, taking a short trip to your home. the warm summer wind bites his cheek and grazes his actively moving shins. he feels the occasional breeze press against his loose, white t-shirt and grey shorts.
hyuka finally arrives at your house, no hesitation in gently knocking on your door. your gaze meets his as you slowly open the door, surprised at his unannounced visit despite this being a quite typical and natural event. you instantly smile.
"HYUKA!!" you exclaim, pulling him into an embrace and gesturing him into your home. he quickly accepts your hug, slightly damp from the summer heat. he finds his natural spot on the right corner of your low-set bed, taking in the comforting and nostalgic fragrance of your room. posters everywhere, stringed with fairy lights, and photos of you and your friends in every corner.
there's a mini music player in the corner, playing songs off your shared playlist with kai. which is where he got the lyric on his nintendo station from, the words written on the cd that he was here to collect, and caption of your instagram biography.
you take a seat right next to him, still curious on what brings him here this time. "here to pick up the cd you left?"
"mhm!" he chimes.
you find yourself lost through time in the endless pillow talk, his words simply igniting one after another. in your own little world, that only you two shared. you both had an enchanting, entrancing mind that people struggle to even imagine.
the mini music player clears up the magical fog in both you and hyuka's ears, making one lyric clear.
"if i compared you, the sun is a stand in."
you were like his comfort zone. a comfortable presence,
a hand to hold.

rewind ✩ jin !
jin x fem! reader fluff • 1,260 words
IN WHICH... childhood friends reunite in a serendipitous moment, sparking nostalgic memories, unspoken feelings, and the return of an irreplaceable bracelet.
You sat on the bus on your way home after a long day of work, and you can’t help but look exhaustedly out of the window. The summer sun is still ablaze on the horizon, and your eyes feel droopy with the heat as you watch the familiar scenery pass you by. The vehicle starts to approach the next stop and as you lazily focus ahead, you catch a glimpse of a familiar figure standing there, waiting.
Your heart skips a beat as memories flood back, like an old photograph album flipping through time. You lean your head further against the glass in order to confirm your suspicions. It was definitely Jin, the boy from your childhood who had been not only your best friend, confidant, but also the source of your first real crush.
You still remember the soft brown hair that framed his gentle face, and the way his eyes would light up whenever you embarked on your adventures together. You were inseparable, exploring every nook and cranny of your small town, with the world seemingly open to your imagination.
One cherished memory stood out, a smile quirking up on your face; the day Jin gave you a bracelet. It was a simple gift, a woven band with beads that held no monetary value but carried priceless sentimental weight. He had made it himself, you recall his boasting about it, pouring his heart and effort into creating something special for your unbreakable bond, he had said. And you wore that bracelet with pride, like a badge of honor, a constant reminder of his nourishing for you and your friendship.
But as the years went by, life began to unfold its complexities. You grew older, your paths started to diverge. Reminiscent regrets crept into your heart, knowing you had let out your friendship fade away, allowing it to become a mere wisp of what it once was. Life’s obligations, new friends, and different interests had consumed your attention, causing the distance between you to grow like an insurmountable chasm. But you had your part in it. You still remember that strike of unfounded jealousy as the new girl came to your last year of high school, how she grew close to Jin, and how in the end you gave him back the bracelet it was once so special to you in a tantrum he probably could never figure out.
The memories were bittersweet. You recalled the times you had secretly admired Jin, noticing all the little things he did with you that seemed to set your heart aflutter. From sharing his ice cream on hot summer days, to biking you to the nearest town as you searched for that latest top you wanted so much, to staying up late under the stars, counting them one by one as if they held the secrets of the universe.
You wonder if he had known about your old crush on him, if he had seen the blushes that you tried so hard to hide or the stolen glances you couldn’t resist. You wonder if he ever knew that the fateful fight you shared was due to you cowardly trying to sense if he felt the same for you. Maybe he did, but he never made it awkward or uncomfortable. He simply continued being your friend, loyal and supportive as ever… Until that ridiculous and one-sided fight.
As the bus rolls to a stop, you watch Jin through the window, his figure now much clearer. Time had treated him kindly; he still had that warm, welcoming smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. That jovial semblance you knew would never change. You hesitate for a moment, contemplating whether to leave the confines of the bus and embrace the past standing before you.
In a moment of courage, you rushedly get up before the doors can close, stepping off of the bus, heart pounding in your chest. His attention leaves the cell phone he has in hand, and for a brief moment, your eyes lock. The connection like an electric jolt, igniting long-lost feelings. You had your share of crushes, even boyfriends ever since, but somehow nothing felt like this.
And then, to your relief and happy surprise, he smiles that same familiar smile, and the weight of the years seems to dissolve.
“Hey stranger, he greets you warmly, goofy as you always remembered him to be, as if you were simply picking up from where you left off. This was what he said every time he passed by your house and you walked together to school—his signature catchphrase.
“Jin– Hi,” you reply, feeling a rush of emotions.
You start chatting, and as you do, it feels as though time has rewound, and you were once again those carefree kids who explored the world together. You laughed and reminisced about your shared memories, each one a gem that you had almost forgotten.
Then, to your awe, as you both recall the summer he broke his index finger and you spent it with him inside instead of enjoying the risky activities that came with the sun, he reaches into his pocket, pulling out his wallet excitedly. He fishes inside it a small, worn-out woven band with beads—the very same bracelet he had given you all those years ago. Inevitably, your eyes well up with tears as he hands it to you.
“I thought if someday I were to give this back to you it would be in a toast, or at least an alumni gathering,” he jokes, “The bus stop wasn’t my first option… But hey, it’s simple. Like me,” his lips pinch cutely into a lopsided smile.
You take the bracelet in hand, feeling its familiar texture, and the weight of its significance overwhelms you. It wasn’t just a bracelet after all; it was a symbol of enduring friendship and the unspoken bond that not even time and distance couldn’t erase. Or unjustified fights, and petty behaviors.
In that moment, you realize that even if life had taken you both on separate paths, the essence of your connection remained unchanged. And as you stood there, sharing stories and laughter at a shabby bus stop, you knew that no matter where life led you next, Jin would always hold a special place in your heart. It transcended time.
Perhaps your feelings had endured too.
Feeling brave, unlike the last time you held that bracelet in hands, you inhale before looking straight into his beady eyes, confessing, “You know… I had this big crush on you back in the day,” you chuckle. The maturity gained with the passing years allows you to relax and treat it lightly, even though your heart suffers a brief hiccup.
He turns to you surprised, cheeks lightly colored, close to the hues that started to paint the summer evening sky. “You did? Well, now I feel like an idiot… I had a big crush on you too,” he confesses and now you are sure that your heart is discompassed. Scanning your confusion he starts rambling furiously, “What kind of guy goes biking with dead weight to another city just for the dead weight to see if she could find a top?! It wasn’t even to buy! Thank God you found it ‘cause you wouldn’t stop talking about it– But ya! I also had to pay for it because you forgot the money!”
You couldn’t even laugh, instead, you glanced at him with the utmost adoration. Jin had always been the one.
Sometimes you really can hit rewind on time.
