Coming up on my fourth game of running @matty-from-megalos's game Megalos, which has been a lot of fun so far. My players have met so many fun NPCs and, like a madman, I've illustrated all of major ones so far.

I loved D&D 4th Edition and Megalos is hitting a lot of those same itches, except without all the D&D baggage and implied expectations, and with a fun Final Fantasy-style vibe. Definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to try something new.

Details on the specific characters below the cut.

We've been using the Oradam Rift setting(which I adore) from the book and the party is a group of mercenaries exploring the Unshrouded Lands for fun and profit.

The first group of NPCs is the Light of the Past Expedition Company, whom are the primary employers of the PCs. Miss Pendleton is the de facto leader of the Expedition since the real leader (on paper), Professor Magnus, is a little weirdo goblin obsessed with his research instead of making sure everyone gets paid and is safe. Finally Gwin is a Cloudraft pilot (the airships used by some of the expeditions) who ferries the PCs in and out of the Unshrouded Lands for their expeditions.

Next are a pair of citizens from Foothold (the frontier city at the edge of the Unshrouded Lands the PCs return to in order to rest and recover). Lastan is an anti-Imperial idealist who drops hints on anyone looking to ruin the Arlyte Empire's missions into the Unshrouded Lands. Nanset is an alchymist who just sent the PCs to the Unshrouded Lands to get some reagents for her since the normal shipments have been stalled by Sky Pirates.

Then we have Muka! Muka is the elemental intelligence overseeing a temple that was deep within Unshrouded Lands. Once the PCs completed Muka's challenge (defeating a horde of fire elemental hounds), Muka marked each one of them with a sigil of fire. Perhaps there are other elemental temples out in the Unshrouded Lands...

Next is the head of the Arlyte Empire in the Unshrouded Lands, Custodian Naxas. During a Meanwhile cutscene, the players learned that another of the elemental temples have been found by the Imperials (the Ice Temple) and Naxas is repurposing its elemental intelligence into... something.

Finally we have the Mist Miners, another group of mercenaries active in the Unshrouded Lands. Their leader Barry (the blonde guy) is a character to say the least, helped by his mekari right hand man, Blockhead. Following their last encounter with the PCs (where the Mist Miners were trying to mine their way into Muka's temple) Blockhead was destroyed and the PCs collected his mek core, hoping to learn where Barry and the Miners have been to see if they've ran into any of the other temples.

I have some fun plans for some of the future NPCs and foes the PCs will face off against (there's at least four elemental temples unaccounted for), but I am also following the lead my players set so I'm prepared to be surprised with the path this adventure takes.
