Florida Beach Cottage

This is a post you want to save and come back to anytime when things are feeling a little blue, because I can almost guarantee that this home will leave you feeling a little lighter and much happier.

To say that I love this designer’s work is an understatement. She design homes that are tailored without losing their soul. In another words, she design interiors that are meant to be lived in and not just looked at.

Lisa Peterson, interior designer and co-owner of Pineapples, Palms, Etc. has always dreamed of living in a comfortable, relaxed, Florida Cracker style cottage, with views and breezes from the water that create her “Barefoot Dream” lifestyle. Peterson and her husband were fascinated by the “Old Florida” appeal of Hobe Sound. The unincorporated village, adjacent to Jupiter Island, is a little slice of heaven. Covered with Banyan trees, the neighborhood they chose to build their home was laden with history. The lot next door housed an Ice House in the late 1800’s and the stretch of Intracoastal waterway in front of the home was once the site of a ferry landing for boats to carry perspective land buyers to Jupiter Island.

“Cottage on Cabot” was built with the true Florida Cracker architecture of the past, and blends perfectly with its historic surroundings. Cracker architecture was used widely in the 19th century in Florida. Florida cracker homes are characterized by metal roofs, wrap around porches, long and straight central hallways from the front to the back of the home. Peterson loved this concept so she incorporated many windows and doors that open onto the large deck, allowing the constant ocean breeze to fill the house.

Pineapples, Palms, Etc., is a popular retail and interior design store in Jupiter, just 15 minutes away from the home, and is known for its crisp, modern coastal style, with a unique brand of casual elegance. The sisters opened the store in 2001, and it remains in the same location today, providing interior design services to locals, as well as many professional athletes and celebrities that reside in the area. Peterson took the vibe from the store, which is loaded with one-of-a-kind pieces and comfortable, slipcovered furniture and infused Cottage on Cabot with a similar energy. The result is open, airy and inviting.

Inside the Luxe Texas Mansion the NRA Nearly Bought for CEO Wayne LaPierre

Last summer, National Rifle Association chief executive Wayne LaPierre attempted to have the nonprofit organization purchase him a home in Texas. LaPierre and his wife, according to the Washington Post, were involved in the home search and dismissed an option of living in a luxury high-rise in favor of a Westlake, TX, mansion.

At the time, the 10,000-square-foot mansion was on the market for $6 million. However, the LaPierre deal never materialized and the grand estate is still on the market—albeit at the reduced price of $4.75 million.

Located about 35 miles outside of downtown Dallas, the suburban French chateau–style mansion is undoubtedly fancy. It initially went up for sale in July 2017 for $7.5 million.

The four-bedroom home was built in 2010 with luxe materials and finishes, including white oak floors, French Beaumaniere limestone, antique marble, and Italian tile. It sits on a 1.5-acre lot with golf course and lake views.

The main suite has his-and-her baths with heated floors, and the large exercise studio overlooks the lake. However, LaPierre’s wife was concerned about a “lack of space in the men’s closet of the master bedroom,” according to the Post.

There’s also a guest suite downstairs, a crafts room, dual offices, a pool, dog run, and, of course, an oversize garage for all types of vehicles. A golf cart might be a necessity—the huge home sits right next to the Vaquero Club, one of the area’s most exclusive private country clubs.

A lavish mansion in Texas may seem like an odd location for the CEO and executive vice president of the Fairfax, VA–based, nonprofit gun rights organization to reside. In fact, the New York attorney general’s office is currently investigating the potential purchase as part of its ongoing investigation into the NRA’s tax-exempt status.

According to reports, LaPierre became concerned about his personal safety when the address of his Virginia home was made public after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018.

Soon after it was proposed that the NRA’s advertising firm might purchase the mansion as an investment, but financed with NRA money, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Another possible factor? Former NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch owns a home about 6 miles away from the proposed LaPierre purchase, in neighboring Southlake, TX.

Still awaiting a buyer a year after LaPierre’s dalliance, the Westlake home in question isn’t even the most expensive mansion on the block any longer. That honor goes to NBA star LaMarcus Alridge‘s recently listed $5.2 million mansion, located a mile away on the same street.

Converted Barn Home Renovation

How wonderful it is to start a brand new and fresh week with you! Today feels even more special because I adore this designer! Lisa Furey of Lisa Furey Interiors is incredibly talented and I have being featuring her work for many years now. Having her on the blog is like having a good friend knocking on your door… your heart warms up, you open your arms and you welcome them with a big smile.

Keep reading more about this recently-renovated converted barn home and chances are that you will feel as excited as I am for seeing Lisa’s work. Today is a happy day, my friends!

Recently, this breathtaking home underwent an extraordinary and comprehensive renovation by Lisa Furey Interiors, Spire Construction and CZ Woodworking. Lisa’s goal was to return the barn to its roots. Think Rustic, industrial, masculine, farmhouse. Designed to withstand the rigors of active children and pets.

The home now features a custom Gourmet Kitchen with artisan tile, brick walls, high grade appliances, expansive Dining and Family Rooms divided by dual sided fireplace and two sets of French doors, custom reclaimed woodwork throughout the home, and reclaimed hardwood flooring.

Converted Barn Home Renovation

Exquisite and dramatic, find this 4 Bedroom 3 Full and 2 half bath Converted barn located in desirable Northside Haverford, Pa. Originally designed by renowned Philadelphia architect Frank Furness in the 19th century, this historical structure was expanded upon by McIntyre Capron Architects in 2009.

Outdoor furniture is Kingsley Bate “Sag Harbor” seating and Essex side table – Available through the designer.

Exterior Lighting

The exterior lighting is by Bevolo Coachhouse series (Available through the designer).

Porch Ceiling Fan: Matthews Fan Co Diane.

Kitchen

Lisa completely transformed this kitchen by adding artisan tile, brick walls, high grade appliances and a large eat-in kitchen island. Timeless and authentic!

Kitchen Island Dimensions 5 x 10 – painted black with a custom distressed finish.

Kitchen Cabinet

Kitchen Cabinet Details: Painted Maple shaker style doors, inset – similar color to “Benjamin Moore White Dove”.

Brick

The designer added brick tile backsplash to beautifully contrast with the white cabinets.

This is one of the most authentic kitchens I have seen in a long time and that is so refreshing! Countertop is Caesarstone Rugged Concrete.

Dining Room

This dining room is breathtaking! It feels as welcoming as it gets without losing its elegance. Dining table is custom and available through the designer.

Lisa designed a gorgeous floating ledge with Reclaimed wood and metal strapping. Walls are clad in shiplap wainscoting.
