Lola’s Life (8): Friday - 3pm to 3:30pm

*knock knock*

As drunkenly promised the previous evening, Thorne (who, let’s remind ourselves, is a musician, not an actor) turned up to practice romance scenes with Lola for her guest spot on Wild Hearts later that week, but his presence was about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. Lola’s Love Day had been ruined by this man, she had just had the morning from hell and she wasn’t in the goddamn mood.

And she let him know that in short order. She told him off for leading her on, for not telling her about Octavia, not keeping his promise to practice with her yesterday and for ditching her at the bar last night.

Thorne was clearly caught off guard, but not overly rattled, keeping his usual devil-may-care grin on his face. He tried to make excuses for everything, but not once did the words “I’m sorry” leave his lips, and Lola wasn’t having it.

“I forgot about the prior engagement, okay?” “I love Octavia, but she’s not my old lady,” “You know what Tinsel Town is like, baby, I had to show face in the VIP area,” but Lola didn’t want to hear it.

All of a sudden, Thorne dropped his gaze, his eyelids suddenly heavy. He said nothing for a moment and then, in a low voice, muttered,

“You know, sweet cheeks, you’re awful cute when you’re angry.” 

“... Oh my God.”

*SLAM*

“So hey look, that’s not usually the reaction that I get or go for when I kiss a fine little filly such as yourself. I didn’t realise you were a cancelled stamp. I’m gonna split. Stay cool, babydoll.”

He had been in the house less than half an hour. He had said very little of consequence. But that kiss had told Lola everything.

Because she felt absolutely nothing.

Lola’s Life (7): Friday - 7am to 3pm

After Lola got home from Orchid A-Go-Go, all she wanted to do was sleep, but to say she had a lot on her mind would have been a bit of an understatement. She was angry at Thorne for blowing her off, consumed by her own reaction to Octavia, and puzzled by Venessa’s message. Well.. if she couldn’t sleep, she would keep herself busy. Why think about your feelings when you can ignore them, eh? She went for an angry/contemplative scrub in the laundry tub.

Night turned into day and the odds of her getting any sleep grew ever slimmer. She resigned herself to being exhausted - again - and made breakfast. She had work in the afternoon - another commercial, but at least this time her face would be visible. She needed to focus on the day ahead and stop worrying about the day before. Maybe a morning swim would help her clear her head?

Lola slid down the ladder and into the balmy blue water. 

*ring ring* 

Wait a minute... was that the phone? *sigh*

So far as Lola knew, the only people who had her home number were the talent agency and the power company. This can’t be good. Lola climbed back UP the ladder and, sopping wet, dashed to grab the telephone. The caller spoke in a low voice:

Lola panicked: she had no idea who this person was, how they had her number, or what they were threatening her with: “Wait... who is this?”

“HA HA! You just got PRANKED!” A woman’s mocking voice came through the telephone. It was a voice that Lola recognised from television. She had just been the victim of one of Brytani Cho’s infamous telephone pranks!

Humiliated, she slammed the phone down. Almost as soon as the handset hit the receiver, the phone rung again. UGH.

“Hello?!” Lola said, understandably P I S S T

“Hello Miss Faumuina. I’m calling from the Landgraab Water and Electric. Due to your outstanding bills, we will be suspending services to your property until all debts are paid. Have a nice day.”

Lola was NOT having a nice day and now, on top of everything else, she was §22 short of being able to get her power turned back on. She couldn’t leave her power shut off while she went to work or all of the food in her fridge would spoil. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

She combed the beach for anything of value, but the universe clearly felt Lola hadn’t suffered enough yet and seagulls plagued her at every step. 

Thankfully, she still managed to find enough shells to get the money she needed. On a day like today, Lola knew she was going to have to make do with small victories. She went home, brushed her teeth, and tried to calm down.

And then there was a knock at the door.

Lola’s Life (6): 7pm Thursday  to 3am Friday

She’s been up since 7am and she’s got to shine as bright as possible at Thorne’s gig later tonight, so it’s down the hatch with the nasty, watery, is-this-dirt-haha-actually-wait-it-IS-dirt-isn’t-it-insta-coffee! We gotta be bright eyed and bushy-tailed if we want to impress the folks at this starlit lounge.

Prompt as ever, Lola walked into Orchid A-Go-Go 10 minutes early, hoping to scope out the scene and get a little liquid courage in her before Thorne arrived. No sooner had she found a seat at the bar, when in walked San Myshuno Times Best Selling Author and screenwriting extraordinaire - Octavia Moon!

This intimidating vision in yellow made Lola feel a lot of complex things. She was certainly overawed, but it was mixed with something else she couldn’t quite explain. She was too nervous to approach her, but she had to learn more about this woman. She not-so-subtly listened in on the not-so-subtle gossip in the bar:

“Did you see Octavia Moon is here?! I hear she’s shacked up with that scoundrel Thorne Bailey! It’s even been said she’s responsible for writing all his latest hits.”

And, as if he overheard his name, in strode Thorne Bailey.

Thorne immediately picked up the guitar and began to play. The crowd was small, but that was to be expected for an impromptu casual gig like this one. The hits were off the menu - it was new material only tonight. Thorne played like a man possessed and although Lola enjoyed the new tunes, she couldn’t help notice Thorne hit more than a few bum notes throughout the evening. With his set finished, Thorne zig-zagged over to the bar, beckoning Lola to follow him and hitting her with a gin-soaked grin as he passed by.

“Hey babydoll, how’d you like the set?” Thorne slurred, but before Lola could respond, he was talking again, “Listen. I can’t talk right now. Howse ‘bout you, you and I get to practicin’ tomorrow? Huh?” He grinned again as he knocked her on the chin, “Shee you then, shweetheart.”

Lola started to sputter a reply, but she couldn’t get a sentence together before Thorne leapt off his seat and wobbled off into the VIP section.

It was 11pm on Love Day and Lola was alone in a room full of strangers. She had spent her day putting in maximum effort for this man only to get the brush-off. This is not how she pictured this day going at all.

Feeling a little bummed out and understandably exhausted, Lola asked the bartender to call her a cab and sat down in one of the lounge’s plush, if ironically named, loveseats to compose herself. Evidently she was more worn-out than she realised, because she drifted off there for a few hours, only waking up again shortly before closing time. 

As she slept, she missed an intriguing message from Venessa Jeong, who she had only met briefly on set the other day. Surely she can’t have meant to send this to Lola?

Disorientated and still half asleep, Lola stumbled out into the streets of Del Sol Valley, encountering Octavia Moon once more.

Lola still couldn’t put her finger on what it was about Octavia that so intrigued her. All she knew is she felt her heart flutter and then beat a little harder when the acclaimed author’s perfume wafted towards her on the cool night air.

Lola’s Life (1): The Weekend + First Audition

It was Friday when I loaded up my game to play with my new simmie Lanuola “Lola” Faumuina, so I had plenty of time for her to get set up at home, take a bike tour of Sulani and Del Sol Valley and enjoy herself a little before starting her journey on the road to fame. 

She had her first audition on Monday and was awarded the role of a void critter (whatever that is - she’s still not sure) - so of course she hit the town to celebrate. 

After a rather abysmal attempt to flirt with Joaquin Le Chien, Paolo Rocco swooped in to let my girl know he was FEELING her moves and they exchanged numbers. The club started to wind down after that, but it was probably for the best - Lola has her first gig in the morning after all!

Lola’s Life (4): Wednesday - 1pm to Midnight

After a late night impressing the pants off people on set, Lola earned herself a lie in, so I didn’t get her up until after lunch. The day was still young, so Lola wiggled into her cutest outfit, gussied herself up and headed for the exclusive Studio PBP.

Luck was on Lola’s side today, because almost immediately after we arrived in Del Sol Valley, we ran into her idol - rock star Thorne Bailey. Lola’s had a lil crush on Thorne for as long as she can remember (you might have noticed she has his autographed headshot in her room!) so after some fangirling, she composed herself and did her best to make her introductions, despite Katrina Caliente collapsing behind her.

Turns out Thorne is a pretty cool guy! The two were getting along famously, but the middle of the street is hardly the best venue for a rockstar and a young starlet to get acquainted! Thorne suggested they get away from the mob and head inside Studio PBP for a drink. Unsurprisingly, Lola agreed and the first round of Ridgeports was on Thorne. It’s been three hours and Thorne has not mentioned his wife. Lola also has not asked.

As generous as it was of Thorne to pay for the first round of drinks, Lola knew it meant she was going to have to pony up for the next one. Gulp. That was gonna cost her - Ridgeports were expensive and Lola only had §95 to her name. So she did what anyone would do. She made sure her companion had a drink and then finished the pitcher herself. Double fisting it - that’s momma’s girl!

Ridgeported oot their nuts, both agreed it was getting late. Thorne explained that had to head home (for some *mysterious* reason) and with smiles on their faces they said goodbye and made plans to meet at Lola’s for breakfast the next day. Lola has an audition for a part on the romantic sitcom Wild Hearts in the coming days and Thorne has selflessly offered to help her work on the romance scenes. 👀

Lola’s Life (3): Wednesday - Midnight to 5am

Sooooo... this is awkward. Turns out dress-socks-and-sandals-don’t-ever-call-me-Paolo is Lola’s hair stylist and MUA. Uneasy but determined to be professional, Lola walked towards the chair and 4th-wall-breaking-mf’er Paolo smiled directly into the camera. This did not bode well.

Predictably, he tried to clown our girl - literally, with some OTT blusher. Who would have thought that a guy who’d show up to a date in short-shorts and knee-length dress socks would make a bad stylist? 🤔 Lola put Paolo in his place right quick and the rude dude soon undid his sabotage.

Phew. Okay, on to wardrobe, which turned out to be a much less private affair than Lola anticipated. Still, it was probably for the best after her stylist turned out to be creepy old Jacques Villareal.

Lola still isn’t sure if this really happened or if it was just a projection of how she felt inside... 

The final look wasn’t exactly flattering either, and Lola wasn’t thrilled that no one would see her face, but SHE’S A PROFESSIONAL DAMN IT. And besides, at least in a foam Vulpes head, no one can see you cry.

Which is just as well, because on set, Lola encountered yet another celebrity - notable newcomer Venessa Jeong. She did her best to introduce herself, but to say she was off her game would be a bit of an understatement. Yet again, she was glad to be able to hide behind the Vulpes head.

SIGH. Okay okay okay. Deep breaths. You can still turn this around. You can do this, girl. Lola centred herself and put on the performance of her life, pulling off every risky manoeuvre she could think of to leave a lasting impression. By the time they wrapped up at 3am, there was nothing more she could do...

But thankfully she didn’t have to do anything else because HELL YEAH LOLA YOU DID THAT. She turned that damn day around and headed home with a grin on her face. The day started full of promise before taking a sharp downward turn, but with grit and determination, Lola rewrote the story! She finally slid into bed around 5am, exhausted but elated.

Lola’s Life (2): Tuesday, Afternoon - Midnight

The day started out promising. Her first gig wasn’t due to start until 7pm, so Lola had plenty of time to get ready. While taking a shower, she received a phone call we had been expecting - Paolo asking her on a date! 

Of course Lola said yes and before we knew it (literally, I didn’t realise it happened as soon as you said “Ok”) we were off the Orchid A-Go-Go! I was excited to see what Paolo would wear, since he was dressed to impress at the club the other night.

Uh... well... it’s certainly a look. Lola debated whether she should go through with the date after this, but she’s a girl of her word so in the end she knew she had to. They had a good chat and then headed inside, where, much to both of their delight, world famous superstar Judith Ward was there!

Lola got a little distracted by the celebrity and despite her date being equally as obsessed, he didn’t take her lack of attentions lightly.

McFuckin’scuse me, bitch?

Oh well, no big loss. He had no dress sense anyway and hey! The bartender’s kinda cute?

And does not appreciate being hit on at his work. Too far, Lola. Too far.

Safe to say our girl wasn’t feeling her best going into her first gig, but she was prepared to shake it off and start making a name for herself. Arriving on set, her first stop was hair and makeup.

“Oh you have got to be kidding me!”

Lola’s Life (5): Thursday - 7am to 5pm

In all the excitement of the week, Lola completely forgot that today was Love Day. Today! On the day Thorne Bailey was coming over to practice romantic scenes with her! Today! Of all days! Surely this was a sign? 

Lola got up early and tidied and decorated her house a little bit to mark the occasion. Checking the mail revealed she had bills due, but thanks to yesterday’s Ridgeports and the life of a starving starlet, she didn’t have a penny to pay them. Still, at least there were also two anonymous Love Day cards in there! Who doesn’t like to have secret admirers?

After a busy morning, Lola needed to clear her head and get on top of her game before Thorne came over, so she took a refreshing dip in the ocean, followed by a bath and a wee boogie to some tunes. 

Ding dong. It’s Thorne!

“I’m so sorry, kid, it turns out that I actually can’t stay. I have a prior engagement that I had forgotten about, but I’m playing a gig at Orchid A-Go-Go tonight. I’ll put your name on the list. See you there at eight, babydoll.”

And with that, he split. This wasn’t the Love Day that Lola had envisaged, but mayyyyyyyybe it could still be salvaged at the club later tonight? It was only 3pm so she had plenty of time to get a few more errands done before putting her glad rags on. Or so she thought.

But here comes Makoa!

Who apparently only came round to help us with chores and then dive off our deck? Alright buddy, you do you!

Still - those overdue bills were preying on Lola’s mind so with Makoa gone, she decided to slip in a quick beachcomb before getting dolled up for Orchid A-Go-Go. She found absolutely nothing, but time spent cleaning up her beloved beach is never time wasted.

Now... on to Orchid A-Go-Go!

I just wanted to say how much I've been enjoying Lola's story so far! I really love seeing the worlds you've built out for your gameplay, too!

Thank you so much 🥺 I absolutely love world building and I’m really enjoying my little break from the much-more-intense world of Forty Acres and sharing Lola’s adventures with you all! She has been on a J O U R N E Y the past few days and I can’t wait to share it. 👀 Once I’m finished playing with her and this 1960s world I will definitely be doing my utmost to share it so others can play around in it too. So I’m treating myself to a lil break from cc making to play Sims 4 and enjoy myself. Since I ordinarily play families of four or more, I decided to break that habit and play a single sim story and play through some careers and opportunities - stuff I never do! 

I’m still playing my 1960s save, but I’m also still in a very Sulani state of mind, so I decided to create an indigenous Sulanian and here she is.Meet my playthrough simmie, Lanuola “Lola” Faumuina! 

I might post some gameplay pictures with her this week and after that I will put her up for download. She is a Young Adult with the World Famous Celebrity aspiration - her traits are Outgoing, Child of the Island and Ambitious. At the moment she doesn’t have any other traits or skills but she will end up with some by the time she goes up for download. 👀
