Yellow Hibiscus
like everything i post on here, no promises that this will ever go anywhere, but i’ve been messing around with a White Lotus au, even though the show hasn’t even finished airing? (also if you’ve been watching White Lotus, let’s discuss, please. i have notes.)
Tom Wambsgans touches down at Kahului Airport at two p.m., local time. He powers up his phone while the plane is still taxiing en route to the gate and fires off a text to Shiv.
Just landed! Call me when you can. I love you.
The message takes a few minutes to send, his cell service as sluggish as he is after a ten-hour nonstop flight. He stares out the window and can’t quite believe that he’s looking at palm trees, tall and spindly and thin as toothpicks, verdant mountain peaks looming in the distance.
His phone lights up with an incoming call once he’s retrieved his carry-on case from the overhead storage compartment and deplaned. Shiv. He smiles in spite of himself and accepts the call, cradling the phone to his ear against his shoulder while he walks to baggage claim.
“Hi, sweetie,” he says, voice gone syrupy sweet with undisguised longing. “Oh, Shiv, honey badger, I miss you so much already.”
“It’s been like fourteen hours,” she says. “How was the flight?”
“Long,” Tom answers, a little stung by her sidestep. “Comfortable. Uh, thank your dad for me.”
“Oh, honey. You didn’t think we’d stick you in economy for a transpacific flight, did you?”
Tom stutters out a laugh. The impulse to be grateful is instilled; he’s worked hard to forget it and all traces of sincerity. “No, no. Of course.”
The first-class ticket feels like a bit of a consolation, or if nothing else, a suggestion of things to come after he survives this trial period. One last taste of luxury before he resigns himself to the life of an ascetic.
Not a problem; he’s done it before. The cleanses and the wellness retreats and the meetings. But this time, it’s a little different.
“How’s Lanai?”
Tom looks around the terminal while he walks at a brisk pace, wheeling his small carry-on case behind him. If he hadn’t looked out the window as the plane landed, he might think he was in Orlando or Malibu or, God forbid, Montego Bay. There’s a teak-paneled Starbucks, a skylight cut into the center of a rotunda, potted palm trees that you might find inside a condominium complex in Boca Raton. The airport signage is underlaid with a palm frond pattern, seemingly to drive the point home.
“I don’t know,” he says. “I’m still in the airport. It honestly reminds me of the, ah, the Polynesian? They’ve gone a little overboard on the Hawaiian theme, if you ask me. Total overkill.”
“Just wait until you get to the resort,” Shiv says, a hint of a smile in her voice.
“Jesus. Maybe I should go work at the Polynesian. Be closer to you, at least.”
“Oh, come on, Tom, don’t be like that.”
He frowns. “Like what?”
“You’re acting like you got shipped off to a labor camp.”
“Well.”
“It’s just for a bit,” Shiv says dismissively. “It’s not like—I mean, it’s not a prison sentence. It’s only a few months.”
“A few?”
“Six months, tops.”
“Six months?” Tom repeats, incredulous. His heart plummets in his chest. “That wasn’t in my contract, Shiv.”
“I know, but. You know how my dad is.”
“Uh-huh.”
“Look.” Shiv sounds almost sympathetic, her tone softening. “Tom. Think of it as a chance to prove yourself to Logan. Do a bit of grunt work, change some bedsheets and fold bath towels, deal with the guests, service with a smile, you know. If you can handle that, you can handle anything. My fucked-up family, especially.”
“I wasn’t aware that I needed to prove anything,” Tom sniffs.
“We talked about this,” Shiv reminds him. “Couple of months while the legal team assesses the damage at Cruises, and then when you’re cleared, you can come straight home.”
“I know,” Tom says, chastened. “I know, sweetie, I’m just, ah. I don’t see why I have to play innkeeper while this gets sorted. There’s really nothing I can do to help out there?”
“Honestly, Tom, I think you’ve already done plenty on that front,” Shiv says. “Chin up, Wambsgans. It could be worse. Dad could have shipped you off to a Siberian ski lodge, at least this way you’ll get a little color.”
“Hm.” Tom tries to inject a smile into his voice. “I really miss you, Shiv.”
“Safe trip,” she tells him. “I gotta go. Talk soon?”
“Love you,” Tom says, but the call disconnects before he can manage to get the words out. For a moment, he frowns at the black screen, his reflection distorted under the harsh fluorescent lights overhead, and tries to quash the feeling of unease bubbling up from the pit of his stomach. It’s jetlag, it’s just the new job jitters, it’s the uncertainty of being in an unfamiliar place, without Shiv to anchor him.
He pockets his phone and sets off in search of baggage claim.
. . .
A driver in a sleek black Lincoln town car waits for him outside baggage claim. He loads Tom’s luggage into the trunk and then they’re off. The port on the other side of the island is a forty-minute drive. Tom falls asleep in the backseat after they drive past a bright-yellow mobile shack selling coconuts. He had intended to download everything he could on the Yellow Hibiscus Resort while he was still on solid ground, but the quiet rumble of tires on asphalt and the soft sound of smooth jazz playing on the car radio lulls him.
He dozes fitfully in the car, dreaming half-lucid dreams of besuited corporate lawyers with stern faces and a pile of confidential documents on a conference table.
The car rolls to a stop and suddenly he’s awake, stiff-necked and groggy and completely disoriented, and he can feel the driver watching him through the rearview mirror while he gets his bearings. The car is idling in front of a Best Western, a few tourists with hunter green knapsacks and Hydro Flasks milling around on the steps leading down to the dock. There’s a quaint little lighthouse that looks out over the coastline. Tom squints out the car window.
“This is the port?”
“Yes, sir. The ferry leaves in ten minutes.” The driver peers at him through the rearview mirror. “Last departure of the day.”
“Guess I better get going, then,” Tom sighs, and he climbs out of the backseat.
He gathers up his leather bag to check for the essentials—phone, laptop, wallet, melatonin pills, Clinique for Men under-eye hydrofiller gel—and waits at the curb for the driver to bring his luggage around. Suddenly it doesn’t seem like enough. Two suitcases and a rolling carry-on for six months on an island. He feels adrift. He’s just starting to calculate the cost of a FedEx overnight shipment from Lenox Hill to Lanai in his head when the driver interrupts his thoughts with a pointed throat clearing.
“Oh,” Tom says, startled out of his own self-absorption. “Sorry, uh.” He fishes around for his wallet and pulls out a crisp hundred dollar bill. “Here, thanks.”
“Have a good one,” the driver says, nodding at him, and retreats to the car.
Tom boards the ferry a few minutes later, after a pathetic struggle to drag his luggage aboard single-handedly that culminates in a crew member jogging down the length of the dock to help him. It’s humiliating. He laughs it off, uncomfortable with the attention he’s already attracted from the cluster of passengers on board, feeling too seen for comfort. He misses his assistant at Waystar, possibly for the first and last time ever; and Shiv’s personal driver; and Colin; people who know discretion as intimately as the private details of their employers’ lives.
He has no clue how he is meant to learn to move, quiet and seamless, through the background of other people’s lives, when he is so used to living at the fore.
There is a brief review of safety protocol, and then the vessel starts to move. The ferry pulls away from the dock and they are gliding through the water. Lahaina Harbor fades into the distance. It’s just clear, brilliant blue water, late afternoon sunlight dappling the surface. Tom slips on a pair of sunglasses and stands on the aft-deck, glaring into the churn and foam that the ferry leaves in its wake.
He’s irritable now, his hackles raised by the sound of American tourists making obnoxious small talk somewhere behind him, and he has the beginnings of a tension headache pressing hard at his temples and radiating a dull ache down into his shoulders, the base of his neck. It feels like a hangover—and God, what a luxury that would be, to let something else besides his own doubts cloud his judgment and fog his mind—but a few miles off the coast, the waves swell and the boat rocks from side to side, and the harpies in matching tropical caftans screech, the decibel and pitch loud enough to burst an eardrum. Instant migraine. Fabulous. It’s a start, at least, a decent facsimile of a phantom sensation.
“Ugh.”
Tom looks up; a middle-aged white guy, probably in his fifties, in a hideous Tommy Bahama button-down is leaning over the railing, elbow dangerously close to his arm. The man flashes him a weak smile.
“I always get sick on these things,” he says, chuckling a little sheepishly. “Total landlubber. Stick me on a boat and it immediately goes straight to my stomach.”
Tom forces a polite smile, lips pressed into a thin line, and redirects his gaze to the horizon. “Hm.”
“How the hell’d I let my wife talk me into a Hawaiian tour, right?”
Tom doesn’t answer.
“You traveling alone?” the guy asks, not taking the hint.
“Mm-hm.”
“No kidding. One of those, uh, wellness retreats? You look like the type, if you don’t mind me saying so. Where you staying? The Mauna Kea? The Four Seasons? Probably the Four Seasons, you have that look about you.”
“The Yellow Hibiscus,” Tom says, mostly to shut the guy up. God, his head hurts. Here’s his chance to practice his customer service smile, but he finds he doesn’t want to.
“Oh! Us, too, it’s actually, uh, a second honeymoon, my wife read this piece in Conde Nast Traveler, said it’s the most romantic hotel.” He can feel the guy staring at the side of his face. “You said you were traveling alone? No wife, huh?”
“No offense,” Tom says, pushing his sunglasses back onto his forehead so he can look the man right in the eyes. “Leave me the fuck alone. Hm?”
The guy blinks, startled, and Tom nods and shuffles down the railing to get away from him.

Tuscan Transformation: Dubai-based VSHD Design expands its international portfolio with the completion of their first U.S. residential project – The Ranch
VSHD Design, a Dubai-based interior architecture firm specializing in residential and commercial projects, is proud to unveil a luxurious residential design within the Four Seasons Orlando Resort in Florida. With 22,000 sq. ft. this project marks the first residential undertaking of the firm in the United States.
“From the onset, we realized that we were facing numerous challenges with this project,” notes Rania Hamed, interior architect and founder of VSHD Design. “In addition to strict regional building and environmental codes, there were requirements imposed by Four Seasons Resorts to ensure that the residence blended stylistically with its neighboring properties.”
A modern Tuscan approach In approaching the external Tuscan theme exhibited by homes within the exclusive development, the challenge was to maintain some existing structural elements, while delivering on the client’s vision of a modern home that would be luxurious, yet warm, comfortable, and ideal for entertaining guests. The client envisioned a sort of boutique-style hotel environment that would provide family and friends with privacy and luxurious amenities, even in the absence of its owners. To achieve that challenging balance, Hamed embarked on a mission to modernize the external Tuscan façade, while infusing contemporary luxury into the home’s interior to align with the client’s vision.
While Tuscan architecture in its purest form embraces natural, rustic elements, VSHD Design avoided abundant use of materials such as brick and wrought iron in lieu of a modern interpretation. Gray brick overhangs positioned above the external façade’s windows and passages pay homage to Tuscan influences. Black frames of expansive French windows, certified to hurricane standards, provide contemporary contrasts to the façade’s white walls, culminating in a modern Mediterranean style that adheres to the Four Seasons aesthetic requirements.
To complement the structural design, VSHD Design developed all of the home’s outdoor spaces, beginning with its swimming pool. European limestone tiles, stylistic planters, and luxurious sunbeds from the Italian design house, Gervasoni, provide the exterior spaces with an authentic Mediterranean look and feel.
Seamless transitions While the exterior exudes modern interpretations of mandated styles and standards, VSHD Design approached the interior of the house as somewhat of a blank canvas. Working with a timber structure, as opposed to concrete columns and beams, was a new experience, however, Hamed found inspiration in the challenge.
“I saw beauty in some of the original structural elements and I wanted to maintain as many of them as possible,” she explains. “I decided to leave some of the exposed beams intact, as opposed to hiding them behind a layer of gypsum.”
Exposed wooden beams reflecting the original structure’s integrity were maintained, with layers of dark stain and black metal trim added to provide a more industrial feel. Hamed also focused on ensuring seamless continuity between the home’s interior and exterior spaces. Upon entering the house, Carrara marble flooring carries the influences inward, where Tuscan-style arches define the separation of the home’s interior spaces, reinforced by clean, modern, and slightly protruding architraves. The architraves, composed of black matte stained oak, contrast with the interior’s white walls and light gray marble flooring, providing the home’s public areas with a very contemporary look and feel. In living spaces designed for more intimate experiences, Carrara marble flooring gives way to hardwood floors.
“Marble can have a bit of a cold feel to it, particularly when framed by white ceilings and walls,” explains Hamed. “We created a transition to hardwood floors to provide certain spaces, like the living room and the study, with a much warmer ambiance.”
Boutique-style accommodations The main floor houses the master bedroom, highlighted by a luxurious contemporary décor and direct access to the adjacent pool area and outdoor shower, designed as part of VSHD’s vision of an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The master bedroom’s spa-inspired adjoining spaces include a freestanding bathtub as the centerpiece of a spacious bathroom that also features an individual toilet and shower cubicles. The bathtub is flanked by a wall of floor-to-ceiling French windows on one side and dual washbasins with custom-designed mirrors on the other. Completing the spa-like theme, a small spiral staircase leads to an upper-level gym area featuring a steam room and waterjet shower.
The spa-like feel and amenities extend to the home’s 6 upper-level guest suites, half of which offer private external access for guest stays while the owners are away. Each self-sufficient guest suite features a unique decorative style and is equipped with a mini kitchen, a small pantry, and a spa-inspired bathroom.
“The client’s brief focused on a concept where each room should have a completely different, yet thoroughly modern theme,” explains Hamed. “We incorporated Chinese, Spanish, and multiple other influences in order to provide each suite with its own distinct character and mood.”
The client’s vision of a boutique-style hotel extends to the home’s main dining room, inspired by Italian architect Ettore Sottsass. A ‘modern-retro’ black and white console from Italy contrasts against a wall panel of gold leaf wallpaper, bordered by marble. The panel’s adjacent walls are characterized by ribbed white paneling with a stained wood base, while a cloud lighting fixture from New York’s Apparatus Studio provides adds a celestial touch to the room.
Pièce de résistance In order to tie the interior spaces together, VSHD Design embarked on an ambitious plan to develop a new patio space at the center of the house to create stimulating visual links between multiple areas of the house. To separate the pool area from the patio, and to connect the master bedroom to the living spaces, the design team built an enclosed lanai with four expansive French windows on each side, which infuse the passage with natural light. The abundantly lit corridor is lined with wicker chairs, creating a fabulous reading room with the feel of an open space courtesy of pool views to the left, and patio views and greenery to the right. At the end of the passageway, a staircase to the left ascends to the second level of the home alongside floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the patio and offer views of the lanai and other external spaces.
“By blending traditional elements with a modern contemporary mix, we succeeded in achieving a contrast that works well,” notes Rania Hamed. “We didn’t want that contrast to be too soft, so the use of black and white, with Carrera marble flooring, provides the home with a strong modern-vintage look.”

Happy Monday everyone! As most of you know, I spent 2 weeks ago in Florida. What some of you may not know is that my family and I road tripped there, making a couple stops along the way to Universal and one on the way back! I’d never been to the three cities we visited so I wanted to share my road trip experience and the places we visited.
Chatanooga Tennessee
While I’ve driven through Tennessee many times (on trips to Florida) + I’ve visited Graceland in Memphis but I’d never been to Chatanooga. My parents always remarked on the “Come visit Ruby Falls” signs when approaching Tennessee but we never decided to pay it a visit. However, on this road trip, we wanted to see what Ruby Falls was and if it was worth the extreme advertising.
So, after 9 is hours of driving ( and lots of bathroom breaks) we made it to Chatanooga and headed over to Ruby Falls.
Ruby Falls is a 145-foot high underground waterfall inside of Lookout Mountain. It was discovered by Leo Lambert in 1928 while drilling.
After taking an elevator down 100 or so feet, we walked through this cave (guided by our very southern tour guide Doug) for about a mile seeing various cave structures before reaching Ruby Falls, which was definitely worth the extensive advertising. Once at the falls, we watched a light show which lit up the waterfall which played along with some music!
Sadly, we had to walk back to the elevator an head back up into the heat. However, despite having to re-enter the 90-degree weather, we were able to see lookout mountain which is basically just a deck that looks out to all of Chatanooga.
We only had one night in Chatanooga, so after leaving Ruby Falls, we ate dinner at the Waffle House, swam in the hotel pool, and hit the sack for another long day of driving Saturday.
St. Augustine, Florida
Driving to Florida from Chicago is honestly one of the worst things ever. You start driving at 4 am, don’t stop until it’s dark, and then finish however much more the next day. Not this time though!
We drove about 9 hours day one, and about 7 hours from Chatanooga until we reached St. Augustine, the oldest (colonized) city in the United States.
We arrived in St. Augustine at about 5 or 6 in the evening on Saturday, so we opted to relax in our hotel and just swam and ate dinner to gather up our energy for another long day on Sunday.
Sunday morning, we packed up our stuff and headed to the heart of St. Augustine. Initially, we thought we would be visiting the Spanish Fort, but found SO much more.
The Spanish fort was incredible, made of coquina (Spanish for small shells), and aged wonderfully. I loved learning about how so many tried to take down the Spanish, yet the coquina held up and no one succeeded in entering the fort.
Once I’d had my history lesson for the year, my family and I all wanted to see more of what St. Augustine had to offer so we decided to take a trolley tour of the city. The trolley tour is something I would 100% recommend to anyone who visits. On this tour, you’re carted around St. Augustine for about an hour, seeing historic buildings, museums, Flagler College, plantations, restaurants, specialty (chocolate factories, wineries, boutiques) shops and so much more! I wished we had more time to hop off at every stop to see everything St. Augustine had to offer. If I ever go back, I’m definitely going to make sure I spend at least 2 whole days to see everything (and eat everything!). Sadly, our time in St. Augustine had to come to an end. Onto Universal!
Sarasota, Florida
Something I never wanted to do was leave Orlando. Universal was all I could have hoped for and more (in my opinion better than Disney World) but eventually, we had to part ways. On the way back (well sort of out of the way) we visited Sarasota for a few days to visit some friends of ours. They retired to Florida a few years back and they are loving the laid-back atmosphere of Florida, and so did I. Their house was cute and cozy with a lovely lanai off the back. To top it off, they have 2 Shih Tzus and they’re both vegan (for health reasons) so needless to say I was in heaven! We spent the first full day there just relaxing, swimming in their community pool, and eating good food.
We were exhausted and had hurt feet so doing nothing was the only thing on our agenda for the day. However, we ended up going to the beach to see the sunset, shelling, and taking really cute pictures!
Day 2 of our visit we woke up bright and early, hit the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru, and drove about an hour to Myakka River State Park see some alligators! At the State Park, we took an hour-long airboat ride around the river and got to see so many birds, fish, and alligators.
Spot the Alligator!
Spot the Alligator Part 2!
My sister and I agreed that we hadn’t picked enough shells the night before so we wanted to go to another beach to find some. This next beach we visited, however, had a rather pathetic selection of shells and it was excruciatingly hot so we decide to head home, pack up our stuff, and hop in the pool to prepare for the 20-hour drive that would happen over the next 2 days.
Have you guys taken a road trip lately? ❤ Alicia ❤
Road trippin’

Path lighting has to be functional, helpful, and comforting to the eye. Importantly, path lights are meant to increase visibility and to provide safety at night. They play the role of enlightening the ambiance of your outdoor space and brightening your landscape.
If you are looking for modern walkway lighting or just want to lighten up your garden with style, then take a minute to glance through our pathway ideas. Lanai Lights offer complete pathway solutions for your outdoor space and landscaping project in Orlando, FL and Orange County.

Pathway Lighting Techniques in Orlando, FL
Fixtures come in several varieties effective in illuminating walkways and paths. Below are the most common techniques suitably best on pathways, which include garden lights, flush lights, bollards lights, and downlights.
1. Garden Lights
Traditionally, a garden with pathway lights is the most common style. People invest in pathway lighting to their garden to mark its boundaries and to illuminate for security reasons.
Garden highlighting a single item like a statue, gazing ball or fountain should be done with a few landscape lighting fixtures having lower intensity bulbs. Install them at different angles and distances. Never shine a single bright light directly on an item or object, it will create harsh shadows.
2. Flush Lights
Flush lights placed along the surface of a path create soft but practical lighting in a garden setting. They brighten up best by softly illuminating up and outwards, without the intensity of a spotlight.
Flush lights are ideal for marking up the path to make your garden safe and easy to navigate. For smooth paths, set them up on both sides to create boundaries. Create a more warm feeling with yellow lights to properly blend with surrounding outdoor lights.
3. Bollard Lights
If you want to greet guests with a contemporary atmosphere, minimalist style path lighting with bollard lights is perfect. Hollow rectangular-edged bollards create a more space-age appeal to your outdoor modern yard.
Another is pillar lights, having 360-degree light spread can enlighten garden beds and pathways at the same time. They are installed at the start or end of a walkway as a beginning point and to guide walkers in the right direction.
4. Downlight
The downlighting pathway is one of the most popular choices because it enlightens a large area to help you see when walking at night. Classic black downlights are best for any exterior landscaping, especially if they are scattered evenly on both sides.
Pathway Lighting Tips:
Mixed It Up
Combine path light fixtures with other ambient light sources like up-lights to increase dimension and depth to your garden. Try to experiment by combining different types of path lights in similar shapes & finishes.
Place Properly
Install the lights within the garden bed instead of shoving them to the edge of your pathways. This way the light can spread more widely and get your visitor's attention to a larger, controlled area.
Low Lighting
It is not advisable to flood the entire walkways with bright lights. Use low lights on the ground to provide safety at the same time softening its effects, overall.
Less Is More
Pathway lighting is meant to be subtle, soft, and comforting. Never install fixtures that can be glaringly bright to the eyes. To test, try this: On a cloudless night, turn your pathway lights on. If you can see the stars, that’s perfect, if not then maybe it’s too bright.
Twist A Bit
It’s perfectly OK for path lights to be not equally spaced down on its walkways, in a straight-line direction, or all with similar heights. Also, it is advisable to stagger your path lights on either side of the pathways to create a balance and artistic feel to guide your guests.

Summer Solstice with an Enchanted Tiki Room Shirt
I went to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in 1972, and one of the first attractions I visited was the Enchanted Tiki Birds. The experience had such an impact on me…I was never the same.
Always fond of birds and flowers, I was mesmerized by the Audio-Animatronics representations of macaws; deities Hina Kuluua (goddess of rain), Rongo (god of agriculture), Maui (god of the sun) and Tangaroa (father of all gods and goddesses); and orchids, who sing and move in time with the music.
The next year, I visited the Enchanted Tiki Room, the original version of the attraction in the Anaheim, California Disneyland. It’s been around since 1963, when all things Polynesian were in vogue.
In this West Coast version of the Tiki Room, the building is an absolute dream, featuring a pagoda-like tower with thatched roofs and a lanai veranda where music by Martin Denny and Bud Tutmarc played in the background when I visited. Tío Babi and Vicente had given me London Phase 4 records of Hawaiian music which I absolutely adored, and so it was pure law of attraction to be immersed in this mind-blowing environment.
Being in the Tiki Room, which was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, sparked my intuition endlessly. I wanted to live there among the birds and mythical creatures. My hair stood on end during an instrumental interlude featuring a rainstorm, lightning and wind sounds.
Back in Puerto Rico, I decorated my bedroom with pennants, Crazy Flickers, black lights and psychedelic posters, and played the Tiki Room soundtrack LP, which I bought in Disneyland, on my dad’s floor-standing Grundig console record player, which he let me keep in my room.
In honor of these warm memories, I was so thrilled when I found this vintage official Disneyland Hawaiian shirt from the early 70s, which features the Tiki Room characters, logo and plants. I suspect the print of the shirt was drawn by Rolly Crump, designer of the facade of It’s a Small World as well as the dear Popsie “greeting” figurines I adore so much. (Popsies came into my radar when Van told Scooter and me how he had gotten one for his brother as a gift, back in the early 60s.)
I combined the shirt with a straw hat Van keeps around in Ocean Grove for gardening. It’s the perfect complement to the warm tones of the shirt. The ensemble is perfect for this Summer Solstice, harkening the comfort and wellness of this longest day of sun.
Blessed be!

Colorado Rockies Slugger Carlos Gonzalez Buys $4.65M Orlando Mansion
Rob Leiter/MLB Photos via Getty Images
Colorado Rockies star outfielder Carlos González, aka “CarGo,” is expanding his real estate empire. He recently purchased a megamansion in Orlando, FL, for $4.65 million.
Built in 2016, the 12,500-square-foot, five-bedroom, 10-bath home is located on the edge of Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. From his backyard, the three-time All-Star can watch golfers attempt to navigate the club’s 16th hole—it’s a punishing par-4 with twin sand traps near the green.
The house itself is open and modern, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors in most of the rooms. When open, they create the ultimate indoor-outdoor party space.
Exterior

It’s designed around a central courtyard, which has four palm trees and a well-groomed putting green. Surrounding the courtyard are a large sitting area, two bedrooms, a gallery hallway, and the entertainment area.

The entertainment area has a skinny, glass-enclosed fireplace (with a distinctive honeycomb tile design), bartender’s station, and dramatic wine bar. In listing photos of the room, there’s also a dining table, sitting area, and baby grand piano.

The sleek, European-style kitchen features high-gloss cabinetry, wine fridge, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, Caesarstone quartz countertops, and center island. To break up the kitchen’s glossy perfection, there’s a rough-cut, waterfall-edge wooden breakfast bar attached to the island.

The master bedroom has its own Wolf coffee system, safe room, walk-in closet, and laundry station. The master bath has a soaking tub and waterfall shower.
Just beyond the entertainment area are the infinity pool, sun shelf, and floating spa. There are two outdoor grills—one by the pool, and the other on the 1,775-square-foot rooftop terrace. The terrace’s kitchen is particularly cool, with a long wet bar and multiple TVs mounted above the grilling station.

The house is certified LEED Gold, with solar panels that power Tesla batteries. In case of a major storm, there’s a whole-house generator to keep the lights on. Elsewhere, there’s a guesthouse with its own lanai, an elevator, and twin two-car garages.
González appears to be just as savvy in real estate as he is on the diamond—snapping up this house for $345,000 less than the listing price.
The 32-year-old right fielder is a fixture in the Colorado outfield, now in his 10th season manning Coors Field. He’s won three Gold Glove awards and, with 218 career home runs, remains a force in the Rockies’ lineup.
