boat for short motherfuckers?
Tumblr media
the lake is so quiet that audrey can hear the chirp of every insect, the call of every bird, the sound of her own heart palpitating in her chest. her eyes are squeezed shut so she doesn't have to see how far out in the water she is, but that just makes it worse - each wave that rocks her little rowboat could be someone with a mask and a knife coming up underneath it, tipping it over, dragging her below the surface.
"closing your eyes makes it worse," trish calls, across the water.
"yeah, i kind of noticed," audrey says flatly.
still. she opens her eyes. there are only three of them left on the lake, now; shigeo got his exit a full thirty minutes of mindful meditation ago, and shadow got his soon after. audrey's pretty sure shadow just fell asleep in his paddleboat, but the car must have counted it as enough rest and relaxation for the door to appear.
so it's her, it's trish, and it's al, who technically has a door on his boat already, but volunteered to stay behind until the others did too. maybe he wasn't expecting it to be so hard for them to relax, but he doesn't seem to mind having more time to fish with the improvised rod he put together back on the shore.
audrey sighs and drags her hands down her face. she can feel her genre butting up against the premise of this car, her danger sense pinging off of something she knows isn't there, and it's like bees in her brain. so maybe, actually, fuck the premise. maybe the way she gets through this isn't by being quiet and alone.
"when's the last time you were on a boat?" she asks aloud.
"oh," trish says. she's aimlessly paddling her paddleboat - pink, naturally - around in circles, sending ripples through the water. "in italy, when we split off from fugo. i don't remember a lot of it. i was dying."
audrey silently adds this to her mental catalog of insane trish anecdotes. she's not sure what reply she was expecting but - sure, italy. venice has waterways, right? that makes some kind of sense.
"you were dying?" al asks.
"my dad," trish says, which is all the elaboration she needs to give, because they've all seen her dad firsthand.
"i think the last time i was on a boat was when teacher took on me and brother as her students," al offers - maybe to cut the awkwardness, god bless him. "she stranded us on an island for a month."
"hey," audrey says. "what?"
"that's where i learned to fish," he adds cheerfully, every bit as skilled as trish at not elaborating on the anecdotes he shares from his home world. it's just harder to get annoyed at him for it.
"what about you?" trish asks.
audrey looks to her, squinting against the sun. "what?"
"when were you on a boat last?"
"oh. uh." she has to think about it. "i dunno. lakewood has...a fucked up lake. like, 'a murderer got shot by the cops there' fucked up. kids only go out there on a dare, or to fuck with each other."
the last time she was at the lake was at that party where noah almost drowned, she's pretty sure. audrey grimaces, tries once again to put the idea of outstretched hands under the water, ready to grab her ankles, out of mind.
"trish," she says aloud, grasping for something else to think about. "tell me a story that isn't about a time you almost died."
"i blew up a plane, once," trish says immediately, then pauses, hums to herself. "i think i almost died during that, actually. so - disqualified?"
"uh, no, fuck that. tell me about the plane you blew up," audrey says. it's true that the story might not meet her criteria but once, just once, she wants to hear the full story behind something outlandish that trish has so casually dropped into a conversation.
trish looks taken off guard; there's a beat of silence before she starts to actually tell the story, her voice low and careful, her eyebrows furrowed as she draws on the memory. audrey uses one oar to rotate her boat so she's facing trish, a little closer than before, then closes her eyes again and listens. it's easier to tune out the insects and the birds this time, easier to ignore the waves that rock the boat.

I don't care man I just wanna know what your goal is.
KO/Atlas: For the third time, you freaky eldritch thing...
WHY. ARE.
YOU.
TARGETING ME?!?!
[The distorted memory KOs and TKOs tighten their grip on him by just a little.]
Gyyaagh!!
KX: You want the short or long version?
KO/Atlas: Just tell me!!!
KX: Alright, alright, don't get your panties in a bunch. [It plants its KO-reminiscent feet on the floor as it walks back and forth with its hands behind its back.]
You've been on this road before, Atlas... Remember when Shadowy Venomous took you under his proverbial wing when you were TKO? And he cared about what you wanted? Only to find out that it was only a mask, and used you for his own power-hungry, selfish gain? You killed him... You were drunk with immense power from the Lakewood glorb tree... And in a fit of blind rage, you killed e̶v̸e̴r̸y̴o̴n̷e̷ ̸o̸n̷ ̷s̵i̸g̸h̵t̴.̷ ̶F̵r̵i̴e̴n̴d̸ ̵o̵r̷ ̵f̵o̸e̵. Because they were no longer worth living and breathing...
And you without a second thought punished yourself with a grisly, extraterrestrial canine ghoulish curse because of it.
Your other counterparts have been through the same path as well. Some of them are s̶t̶i̷l̸l̴ ̷v̶e̷r̶y̶ ̵m̵u̶c̸h̵ ̶o̸n̴ ̵t̸h̷a̴t̵ ̵m̶u̸r̴d̸e̶r̵o̷u̸s̴ ̸d̸e̸s̵t̵i̸n̶y̷, some others have moved on past that.
And then... there's your blunder from a recent therapy session of yours. You know how your "good friend" Lupus wants to exterminate a particular parasite carrying infamous alternate of you? You decided to be so ignorant enough to follow his wishes and submissively hand him over to an almighty deity and be executed.....
KO/Atlas: I know! [He sobs.] I was stupid, I was such an idiot! Why do you keep going on about——?
[The memory copies hiss in response to the vivid description and harshly pull on his legs, arms and head very hard, causing the emotionally damaged teen to yell out in pain.]
AAAAAAAAAAAGGGHH!!! 😭
KX: But that all turned out to be a mere simulation. Your trial partner's fate was simulated, the deity was simulated... everything was a setup. But that does not lessen the agony, now does it...?
[The copies glare at KO and proceed to pull even harder, making him scream even more.]
KX: And that's why I've decided to get it done and wipe you off the face of the multiverse. Even you're not worth living and breathing yourself because of your repeat...
You're just.

Revitalizing Aging Bodies: Exploring the Benefits of Ketamine Infusions at the Anti-Aging & Ketamine Center in Florida
Revitalizing Aging Bodies: Exploring the Benefits of Ketamine Infusions at the Anti-Aging & Ketamine Center in Florida
As we age, our bodies undergo a natural process of wear and tear, which can result in chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. Unfortunately, traditional treatment methods often fail to provide long-term relief for these issues, leaving many individuals feeling hopeless and frustrated. However, Ketamine infusions have emerged as an innovative and effective solution for addressing these age-related issues.
What is Ketamine?
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that has been used in medicine for over 50 years. In recent years, studies have shown that Ketamine infusions can be an effective treatment for a range of mood disorders, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic pain. In fact, Ketamine infusions have been found to have a success rate of up to 70% in treating these conditions.
At the Anti-Aging & Ketamine Center in Florida, patients can experience the benefits of Ketamine infusions in a safe, comfortable, and controlled environment. The center's team of experienced medical professionals specializes in providing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs.
The Benefits
One of the key benefits of Ketamine infusion therapy is its ability to provide fast-acting relief for mood disorders. Unlike traditional antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications, which can take weeks or even months to take effect, Ketamine infusions can provide relief within hours or days. This rapid onset of relief can be especially important for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation or severe depressive symptoms.
Another benefit of Ketamine infusions is their ability to provide long-lasting relief. While traditional medications often require continuous use, Ketamine infusions can provide relief for several weeks or months, even after just one infusion. This long-lasting effect can be especially beneficial for individuals who have tried multiple medications or therapies without success.
In addition to treating mood disorders, Ketamine infusions have also been found to be effective in managing chronic pain. Unlike traditional pain medications, Ketamine does not have addictive properties and does not produce the same level of sedation. Instead, Ketamine works by targeting the NMDA receptor in the brain, which can help reduce the perception of pain. This makes Ketamine infusions a safe and effective alternative to opioids and other pain medications.
Finally, Ketamine infusions can provide an overall sense of wellbeing and relaxation. The dissociative effects of Ketamine can help patients feel more connected to their bodies, which can lead to increased self-awareness and reduced stress. In addition, Ketamine infusions have been found to promote neuroplasticity, which can help improve cognitive function and memory.
Takeaway
Overall, Ketamine infusions offer a safe and effective alternative for treating a range of mood disorders and chronic pain. At the Anti-Aging & Ketamine Center in Florida, patients can experience the benefits of Ketamine infusions in a comfortable and controlled environment, under the care of experienced medical professionals. If you or a loved one is struggling with a mood disorder or chronic pain, consider exploring the benefits of Ketamine infusions and reach out to the Anti-Aging & Ketamine Center to learn more.

I've always wanted to be a teacher, though initially I planned to be a high school history teacher and for about three months, I wanted to be a lawyer. I don't know what I was thinking there. Finally, I realized that teaching in an elementary school is where I really wanted to be.
So, I have been an elementary school teacher for 11 years now and the last seven of those have been in Durham, North Carolina. For the past three years I have been teaching at Lakewood Elementary School, but in 2015 when I was teaching at Eastway Elementary School, the family of a student reached out needing food for their kids for winter break. There are lots of programs during the school year where kids can get a bag of food every Friday for the weekend, but being out of school for two weeks over Christmas is a different story. I made sure that family was taken care of but I then realized that if this family was asking then a lot of other families could probably use free food at this time.
Tumblr media
Photo: Turquoise LeJeune Parker (left) started her annual Mrs Parker's Professors Foodraiser in 2015 to feed one family. In 2021, along with co-organizer, T. Greg Doucette (right) , the fundraiser was able to generate more than $100,000 in donations and feed 5,200 families across 12 schools in the Durham area of North Carolina.
I decided to create Mrs Parker's Professors Foodraiser and sent messages to as many people as I could think of to ask for donations. T. Greg Doucett was one of those people. He is a local lawyer and I had met him earlier that year when he was running for State Senate and wanted to speak with local teachers. T. Greg went through a period of homelessness himself and had memories of how people had helped him, so he felt a connection to making sure kids had food for the winter break. From that moment until today, we have worked together to make sure that food makes it home with our kids each Christmas.

My Favorite Record Store
Ah, the things you find on old laptops...
While recently seeing if my previous laptop could still breath, I found some old writings. This one, below, is a piece I did about 10 years ago when asked to write about my favorite records store for a compendium the now defunct Get Bent website was putting together. My particular fave rave store didn't just rest on a good used selection, but ended with an appearance from the FBI!
Then last week, Record Revolution in the Coventry section of Cleveland, closed - I frequented that place a few times over the years; then I tripped across the Other Music documentary last weekend on Night Flight, and that seemed like another cosmic nudge to post this.
So check it out if you care, and go visit your local record store today!
Tumblr media
If memory serves, the first album I bought at Wax Stax...
************************************************
Wax Stax, Parma, Ohio, 1985 – Eric Davidson
My hometown of Parma, Ohio, was a suburb (the largest in the nation in the later 1970s; not anymore), on the west side, about 15 minutes from Cleveland proper. That’s where the great record stores were, on the far east side of Cleveland specifically; or in Lakewood, the slowly hip-morphing near west side suburb that had cool things like neat old homes, vintage stores, dusty dives, rusting diners, even gay people. But that was still about 15 minutes away from no-drivers license me.
So I made do with the weak mall chain store (yeesh); and a surprisingly worthy shop, Record Revolution, that sat on the far, old, outdoor strip of that mall (my first lesson in learning how most of the things I appreciate in this world will be shoved to the margins). I got my first Velvet Underground record there (White Light, White Heat). There was a huge Peaches Records & Tapes (one of many of the disappearing non-mall, self-standing chain stores, though this one oddly survived under different names until just a few years ago). And then a good used joint, Record Exchange, opened in a small retail strip within walking distance. (It moved a few years later, after adding racks of video games, an ocean of used VHS tapes, and metal tees, and changed its name to “The Exchange,” no doubt to divorce itself from the dying music market.)
And before that even, there was always The Shoppe, a quirky, incense-stunk, flared pants-era cobble of curiosity shops in a big old house in kind of nearby Berea. They always touted that their new vinyl was only $5. Like I wanted a new copy of The Nylon Curtain! It was only worth bothering a friend to drive me there for the selection of “imports,” which at that time in the ‘burbs meant anything not on a major label; or even lame-lier, a German Red Lorry Yellow Lorry 12” single. But I did find some of my early favorites there. I remember, in 1983, sitting in the car outside The Shoppe, the heater on, snowy outside, waiting for my friend to finish his purchase, looking over the Murmur liner notes, thinking “Man, I can’t believe they had a copy of this!”
youtube
So all things considered, I guess I didn’t have it that bad. But the Parma-approachable record stores always had that patina of “west side” to them, which if you lived in Cleveland then, you’d understand. No cool fliers on a board near the door. (“Baby sitter Needed!” doesn’t count.) No piles of weekly newspapers and more fliers flopped around the windowsill near the door. No endless racks of dirty plastic-sleeve 7’ singles. And no crotchety “old” 29-year old at the counter making fun of/informing my purchasing habits. Not that the local stores didn’t have their charms, but let’s put it this way – in 1985, you don’t want Scorpions and Heart posters on the walls of your indie record shop. You want Cramps and Smiths.
So oh the joy when Wax Stax opened! Tucked away in an even more remote, crumbling, and weird little strip, behind another nearly as old strip, next to a barber shop and nothing else, to me it was the Taj Mahal. With Cramps posters. On the way to/from Wax Stax, I had to pass the Catholic church I was weekly hauled to. And pondering the contradictions between the church rooftop cross and the Stooges, Ramones, Prince, and Rodney Dangerfield albums in my hand did more to form my morality than 1,000 confirmation classes. At least it felt like 1,000!
youtube
But back to the real place of worship…Wax Stax was great! Smaller than any of the previously mentioned stores in town, it was packed with a much higher percentage of cool shit. The thing is, there was a Wax Stax on the east side, and this was an attempt to expand into white flight-ville. So when they opened, the place was already packed with lots of great used and new goodies sent over from the other store on the cool east side. They had actual imports, bootlegs, fanzines, and the #1 sign of any great with-it record store of that era – promo copies. Lots and lots of promo copies.
See, back then record labels did not just email out, via publicists, a mp3 to blog writers who won’t even take the time to download them. No, record labels sent out finished copies of their albums. (While I wrote for the Cleveland Scene magazine in the late-80s/early-90s, I probably accumulated 33% of my collection via the “freebie box” in their offices, or trade-ins of said freebies.) And labels sent promo copies to record stores too, often more than one. Made sense, right? You want to make sure the employees can hear the new shit, talk it up to the customers, and hopefully order more. Ha, right! What the hell do the employees care? They would’ve ripped open a new one to hear it. But whatever, it was a wealthier time. (Or is that wasteful-er?)
Bad Moon Rising, Zen Arcade, Tim – probably paid no more than $4 for each of them. Promos all! (Not to mention all their used records rarely rose above $5; new, $8.) The lone female clerk/manager was not only from the east side too – and hence knew what “Pere Ubu” meant – but was not surly and condescending in the traditional indie record shop sense, and pretty cute, too-boot! And she gave great trade. So I was bringing in Bobby Brown and Guadalcanal Diary promos, and a few of these fledgling “CDs” I was getting from the Scene, and trading them in for cheap-ass copies of Death of Samantha, Buzzcocks, and the Volcano Suns. It was as close to mafia accidental back of truck falling off shenanigans as I was likely to get in my life. Or so I thought.
youtube
One day, a little less than two years after Wax Stax opened, I was sifting through the “B” section (“Well, “All That I Wanted” is a good song, but a whole Belfegore album?!” Nah…), and in walked two guys wearing – and I am not embellishing here – long trench coats and fedoras. They flashed a badge at the manager, said a few things to her, then looked over: “Hey buddy, yer gonna have to take off for awhile.”
Yup, fucking FBI guys, I shit you not. It was one of those mini-moments at the end of the ‘80s where major labels decided to throw a bone to “Cracking down on unlawful sale of promotional copies.” Read the stamps on those old things. It says some nonsense about those being the property of the label. (The labels never tell you that they write those promos off on their taxes, right after subtracting them from the artists’ future royalties.) The preponderance of bootlegs might’ve had something to do with the flat-foots storming the gates too, and maybe some grass passing through the back door. But who knows.
youtube
Wax Stax only closed for about two weeks. Once reopened, it didn’t seem much different, though the scare worked, as there were never again as many promos or bootlegs in the racks. But the two new managers were really nice guys – one a tall, skinny, bespectacled collector geek; the other a black guy in tattoos and dreadlocks who was into Ministry – in Parma! Cool. (Yes, for about a month in my life I thought Ministry fans were sort of cool. Especially black ones. Hey, it was 1987!) Then about a year and a half after that, some really odd older drunk guy (or maybe a hop head – my inebriation radar wasn’t as well-calibrated back then) bought the place, added more t-shirts, posters, video games, cassingles, and those expensive CD things, and, well, you can see where this is going. The place sucked…and closed about a year later.
But by then I was going back and forth to school at Ohio State University in Columbus, soon to move there permanently. And for my purposes, Wax Stax had done its job exceptionally well. My standards for a cool used record store had been diamond-cut, and as I toured the world with the New Bomb Turks, stopping first at every town’s indie record store, I could make like General Patton surveying the far hills.
The other day I was scanning down my iTunes list. I didn’t feel like Patton.
Come to think of it, Used Kids Records in Columbus, Ohio was probably the most important record store in my life. But that’s another story…which you can read about in my book, We Never Learn: The Gunk Punk Undergut, 1988-2001 (Backbeat Books).

Voxfam Holiday Headcanons!
(Everything Except Halloween Edition.  America-centric, since that’s where I live, sorry.  ^^; )
-The robots actually have a major design flaw: the current year is hard-coded into them, and similarly to the Y2K problem, this can cause serious issues with their programming if it doesn't get updated properly.  Thankfully, this is only a problem once every decade, when it rolls over from 201X to 202X for instance, and Boxman spent much of the first hours of New Year's 202X manually switching the bots over (all 6000 or so of them!)  He keeps meaning to fix this, but it always slips his mind. -Mr Logic also gets hit with the bug, and arranges to spend a couple of days with Gar, and later Carol and KO, so they can keep an eye on him and take him in for repairs once the shop opens back up.  This was eventually a catalyst for him and Boxman finally coming back together and rebuilding their relationship, so he could finally get it fixed for good. -You know damn well Raymond watches every single megafootball bowl game, college and professional, and spends the entire end-of-season playoffs glued to the TV.  His family will join him for the Big Sports Game, bringing snacks and cheering for whichever team plays dirtier, but aside from Darrell (who's a lesser sports boy himself) and Fink (who gets a kick out of watching the players explode) they're only in it for the commercials. -Needless to say, Valentines Day was, for a long time, NOT celebrated at Boxmore.  In fact, Boxman usually plans extra-special attacks in order to disrupt the plaza's annual celebration of love and friendship (and the discounted candy sales the day after!)  However, once Professor Venomous moves in, Boxman does actually get him a cheap card, and reluctantly accepts the cards and flowers (and other more lavish gifts) he gets in return. -Boxman's also got a restraining order against Cupid, for repeated harassment (in the form of trying to get him to admit he cares for his children or gets crushes on other villains) in the past. -In spite of their dad's hatred of Valentine's Day and their own inability to acknowledge their familial love, the robots do actually make each other cards and pass them around behind Boxman's back.  It's more of a "this seems fun, so why not try it for ourselves" thing than any real enjoyment of the holiday, though.  They also totally assign one of them to sneak into the bodega and steal tons of discounted candy while the others distract the employees. -There is kind of a St Patrick's Day in this universe, involving some hero defeating a giant multi-headed snake demon in hand-to-hand combat in the past, and for whatever reason it involves a lot of wearing green and drinking in the present.  Like Boxman and Valentine's Day, it's best not discussed in front of Professor Venomous, or any other snake person (snerson) for that matter. -April Fools Day is NOT celebrated at Boxmore, under Boxman's strict orders.   -(Little do the robots realize that that order was also a joke, though only Boxman is laughing.) -Along with Cupid and Principal Claus, there is a real Easter Bunny, who keeps leaving his colorful eggs hidden all over the place (and racks up a ton of littering fines for it).  The robots love to search for and collect them around Boxmore's parking lot, competing to see who can find the most!  Then, they keep them for a few days, until they're good and ripe, and have a special week-after-Easter attack where they get to chuck the rotten eggs at the Bodegamen and unsuspecting plaza patrons! -Shannon usually wins the Easter egg hunts, swiping a few bonus ones from her brothers' baskets, though once Fink and Raymond catch on to her technique they start beating her at her own game.  Eventually Darrell and Ernesto are the only ones who still find all their eggs legitimately, and just can't figure out why they keep coming in last every year. -Lakewood hosts a gigantic flea market every year on Memorial Day, and despite his kids' complaints, Boxman drags them all out for hours in the hot sun, looking for deals on old competitor robots to disassemble once they get home, and steal their designs!  (Hey, Raymond had to get it from somewhere!) -While Mother's Day gets pretty much skipped, with the exception of the bots calling their grandmother and Boxman sending her a card, Father's Day is a VERY BIG DEAL for the robots.  They all agonize for weeks over what to get Boxman, and later PV, usually defaulting to ties. -One year, though, Shannon got the idea to try and bribe the Bodegamen to throw the day's fight, just so Boxman could finally, FINALLY see his kids win for a change.  It's since become a yearly tradition; sadly, the heroes don't let the bots destroy the plaza in the end, but they do at least fake minor injuries, and don't even ask Shannon to pay them anymore. -Every year, Ernesto also takes the family out to dinner at their dad's favorite place, his treat.  Which means he gets stuck with the repair and hospital bills when Boxman inevitably charges into the kitchen with Darrell- and Shannon-zookas after they mess up a tiny part of his super-complicated dish, with tons of substitutions and extra things on the side (and which he may or may not order on purpose for this exact reason -- the excuse to go on a rampage is his Father's Day gift to himself!) -Lakewood Plaza Turbo and Boxmore set off competing fireworks shows every July, with real rockets!  Often they "misfire" and aim at each other, as well. -Also, it's around this time every year that Gar's Cabana opens up for business, and Boxmore takes full advantage of the plaza being almost totally empty.  Shockingly, they DO NOT try to destroy it (that'd just be too easy, and spoil all the fun), but instead, while the older bots run distractions at the beach Jethro, Mikayla, and Fink will sneak around and pull small pranks, like loosening all the faucets in the bathrooms, unscrewing the seats on the bus stop, leaving open jars of mayonnaise (unfortunately, Crinkly Wrinkly's favorite) in the vents and crawlspaces, pouring soy sauce in the cafe's coffee dispensers and sour cream in the creamer, painting mustaches on all the portraits at iFrame Outlet (including eFram!), rewiring the dojo's speakers to only play freeform jazz during workouts, leaving chocolate chip candy bars out to attract gloops, etc, all for that sweet, sweet payoff once the heroes return. -The robots, and their hiveminds, all get one single day off per year, on Labor Day (and even then, it took a LOT of begging and pointing out government labor laws on Ernesto's part to get them that).  The Lesser Robots will usually descend onto Lakewood's public parks and beaches in droves for picnics and other activities, while the Primary Robots lounge around the factory, happy to spend the day relaxing and not worrying about those dumb heroes across the street. -By complete accident, the robots all have fall birthdays (they've just got that vibe, okay?), that are all alarmingly close to each other.  Raymond and Mikayla celebrate theirs slightly earlier in the season, but one of the biggest events in the Boxmore calendar is the quadruplets' giant four-way birthday party! -Birthday Month is especially stressful post-merger, since Fink's birthday adoption day happens to take place right in the middle of it all too! -I handled Halloween as its own giant post a while back, but here's one more:  You know how haunted houses do the thing with the bowls of cold spaghetti, that's supposed to be either worms or guts, and peeled grapes, which are supposed to be eyeballs?  Boxman does that with actual robo-guts, wires, eyes, and spare Darrell brains, and PV also contributes his own most recent experiments, just to freak the kids out! -Minor "holiday" (but hey, I included the Superb Owl, didn't I?), but PV finds it weirdly entertaining to taint Lakewood's water supply with a serum that makes people more suggestible the week before Election Day, right in the middle of scare ad season, and just watch the absolute chaos unfold.  Also, he donates quite a lot of money towards Congress Woman's reelection campaigns, not because he's especially fond of her (or even politics in general) but because she's the easiest to extort taxpayer money back from later. -Surprisingly, Boxman's favorite day of the year is Shucksgiving (it's just the day after he's not too find of).  He spends the entire day in the kitchen, making the biggest, most nutritionally- and edibly-dubious dinner possible, and even tries to teach PV a few cooking tricks!   -There's NEVER a turkey on the table, though, or a duck, and especially not a chicken -- the one year Darrell tried to sneak in a turkey sandwich he got rebooted on the spot.   -Messing with the Super Black Friday sale line after dinner is indeed an annual family tradition, as is Boxman rebuilding his kids the next morning after Principal Claus beats them into scrap.  The only one who refuses to participate is Raymond -- once again, there's megafootball to be watched! -PV and Fink have their own Super Black Friday tradition, which is setting up a big heist somewhere, usually a toy or videos game store, and stealing a bunch of that year's hot item to scalp online.  The first time they try to share it with Boxman and the bots, though, it ends with the entire family behind bars, so from then on they keep it to themselves, as a special Boss-Minion bonding activity. -While Raymond's favorite "holiday" is the Big Game, Shannon's is whatever Easter is (Bunny Day?), Ernesto's is Halloween, and Boxman's is Shucksgiving, Darrell's is absolutely Cobsmas.  Like, everyone else loves it too, but he goes overboard, starting the instant Super Black Friday and Cyberpunk Monday are concluded -- finding and stealing the biggest tree he can and setting it up right in the middle of the factory floor (Big Darrells especially help with this), making his own popcorn balls and garlands to decorate it, hanging lights and paper snowflakes and cornstalks around the factory, wearing a different ridiculous sweater every single day and even knitting some for his siblings, incessantly singing corn-related (and just plain corny) carols, baking tons of sugar and gingerbread cookies with his dad as well as building his own gingerbread Boxmore, etc, and even getting into the religious aspects of it like participating in the church Cobsmas play (he loves the costumes!) and reading stories from the Book of Corn.  His enthusiasm for the holiday actually kind of kills everyone else's sometimes. -If it doesn't snow, the bots will make their own out of shredded styrofoam in order to make snowbots.  It's also the only way PV can even enjoy snow anymore, being cold-blooded, and he looks forward to it!  (The cleanup, however, is another story...) -Though the robots and Fink do write lists of demands to Principal Claus, like all naughty villain children, he only leaves them lumps of coal in their stockings.  However, they don't mind -- it's quite tasty!  Almost all of their actual presents come from their dads, or each other. -They do indeed play a 24-hour marathon of that one movie about the kid in 194X who just wants a rocket launcher for Cobsmas (with everyone else warning him he'll blast his eye out!) on TV every year, and Ernesto is entranced by it, trying to see how many showings he can make it through.  The rest of the family aren't nearly as much of a fan, however -- part of the challenge is also keeping them from changing the channel to a more traditional holiday movie. -You know those big fancy tins of popcorn that like every place sells around Christmas?  Those are the OK KO-verse's fruitcake, and get gifted (and immediately thrown out) all the time, but Boxman actually enjoys making his own popcorn on the stove, kettle-style.  In a rare moment of tenderness with his family, he'll stay up late on Cobsmas Eve making caramel corn to share with anyone who's too excited to sleep, and often ends up with six extra-sticky robots (and one rat, and one PV) curled up with him in front of the incinerator. -Similarly, on New Year's Eve he'll make popcorn and hot chocolate and explosives for the kids, and set out his tools to repair them first thing in the morning, while they try to stay up and watch the festivities, both on TV and, secretly, across the street.  Keyword there being "try" -- Ernesto usually makes it, as does Raymond, but Shannon and the younger kids drift off close to midnight and need to be awakened, and Darrell has /never/ managed to see the year switch over live, always being completely out by 10PM at the latest. -But, after the merger, Boxman no longer spends the night with the kids, instead crashing one of Billiam's New Year's Eve parties with PV or having their own private "adult" celebrations.  Of course, this always comes at the cost of starting the new year VERY hung over, and wishing they'd just stuck to the hot chocolate and bad celebrity-hosted variety shows instead...
