It is part of the Apennines, the mountain range that runs the entire length of the Italian Peninsula.⁣ ⁣ The best place to view the iconic Monte Corno is at Lago di Pietranzoni, about an hour and a half from the Campo Imperatore resort. Here the majestic mountain was reflected in the water on a clear sunny day. ⁣ Canon EOS 250D | 100mm | 1/80s | f/9 | ISO 200⁣ Taken on 12/09/2021.⁣ ⁣ The 'Corno Grande' (Great Horn) is the highest point in the Apennine Mountains, situated in Abruzzo in central Italy.⁣ ⁣ Part of the Gran Sasso massif, it is the highest peak in mainland Italy outside of the Alps at 2,914 metres above sea level. ⁣ ⁣ The mountain is at its most awe-inspiring on the north side near Lago di Pietranzoni where the vertical relief is absolutely exceptional.
