Hey! I loved you as Iona in Ladhood. Will you ever discuss on stream who you managed to embody the role? I’d love to hear it. Thanks
I'm not sure what you mean by "who you managed to embody the role" haha but yeah I might talk about that role someday - it was so long ago that it's honestly a little hard to remember!

I watched a few of Con's shorts for the first time today:
- The Outing, liked
- The Pen, did not like
- The Send Off, loved (was this about suicide? I feel like this was about suicide)
Also the Brookside episode from '84 with the bleached hair, who let him do that 😭
Good performances in Inspectors Morse (barely in it but pivotal/righteously angry baby) and Lewis (off the charts dad energy with a twist)
I think Ladhood is next. Maybe Criminal Justice.
I also re-re-re-rewatched Dancin thru the Dark because I'm trying to practice self-care.

Guess who finally started writing TSoS again? I finished the Colbie chapter with me reaching into my limited knowledge of Spanish from what I've heard from my Latin American family lmao
Kicking things off again strong with a Ladhood reference for the Arica chapter
How did we go from Flight of the Conchords references to Ladhood? I do not know my references are all over the place
My last story featured references such as Tojam and Earl, Ghostbusters (the original), and Les Misérables
I don't know of anyone else except me who would actually get all of those but here we are lmao they're fun to write

that reminds me of this great bit in ladhood where current liam meets up with his friends for the first time in ages and is like “wheres [name]?” and theyre just like . “… im right here” cue liam being like “oh what” and the character is just like “i transitioned. how did you not notice that oh my god its been months”

I was curious, because I know nothing about acting in professional productions. When you say you can't say anything about what you're working on, not even a title, or who you're working with -- why is that, from a business perspective? Like, if you were in the new James Bond, I could get why you might not be able to say you ARE Jamie Bond, but why can't you say "oh I'm going to be in a new spy thriller/in a movie" etc? Or with your play, you were like "I'm working on something but I can't tell you" -- why couldn't you say "I'm working on a play?" I can't imagine something that vague is "spoilers", so do the studios think it will ruin demand? Or is it in case you or the production doesn't end up working out?
It's partly the last thing. But mainly it's because studios spend a lot of money on marketing, which is to say they spend a lot of money on controlling how people perceive their product. And fair enough! The last thing they need is the details being leaked in an uncontrolled manner.
It's also a professional courtesy thing. Part of being a professional is letting other people do their jobs and not causing problems for them, right? So I'm the acting department - I turn up, I act my bit, I go. The marketing is the marketing team's job. They don't come down to set and start telling me how to act, so I don't market the show unless it's on their timeline and in the way they've decided it's best to do.
Now I think there is an interesting conversation to be had about social media and publicity: I think a lot of studios aren't using their actors' social media presence to its full potential because they're still a bit old fashioned in the way they view marketing. A good marketing department will make sure the actors (especially the ones with big social media followings!) have all the assets and branding guidelines they need to market the show effectively when it's time to do it! I remember the BBC were especially good about that with Ladhood: they told me well in advance what the embargo date was, what links to use, what I could and couldn't say etc.
