The first episode of "La Brea" is available on Hulu and Peacock. It looks like a cross between Lost and a Cenozoic era version of Terra Nova. It has Natalie Zea (Justified, The Detour, The Unicorn, The Rebels (2014), The Defenders (2010), Dirty Sexy Money, Eyes) and Jon Seda (Homicide). Someone on Twitter I follow was beyond thrilled w/ the disabled representation in the pilot episode. Between the cast and setting/mystery, this feels like it should be my bag, but the pilot really didn't grab me. I blame David Appelbaum, the showrunner. This appears to be the first show he was a show runner on. His previous Producer credits include The Mentalist (2013-2014), Wisdom Of The Crowd, NCIS New Orleans (2014-2017), and The Enemy Within. Not mind-blowing shows, and NCIS New Orleans got better after he left. I don’t know for sure that he’s a white dude, but he seems very much like mediocre white dude.  Also the fantasy world is just some field. Very little of what is on-screen is visually interesting. I'll keep watching, but I'm not expecting much. Nicholas Gonzalez, who was awesome in an episode of Jeff Goldblum’s Raines (2007) is currently credited as being in 2 episodes.  P.S. The first person into the pit is a bllack woman traffic cop, but we see her later in the episode, so they didn’t start the show by killing a black woman. And she even seems to be named. Officer Baker, as played by Angela Nica Sullen. #labrea #labreanbc #lebreahulu #labreapeacock #nataliezea #jonseda #chikeokonkwo zyragorecki #veronicastclair #karinalogue #rohanmirchandaney #pacharomzembe #stephenlopez #davidappelbaum #nbc #justified #thedetour #ncisneworleans #thementalist #NicholasGonzalez  (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUbPEw_pbNl/?utm_medium=tumblr
