A Taste of Barcelona

In May of this year I was invited to attend Primavera Sound in Barcelona, aside from the festival’s incredible line-up and smooth organisation, I also had the pleasure of discovering the taste of Barcelona during the day, and a pleasure it was!

On my first day I enjoyed some delicious tapas and sangria at 4 Latas Letamendi, the mushroom croquettes, nachos, and hummus were delicious and I simply couldn’t get enough of the sangria! A snack that soon became my favourite was La Muns‘ empanadas, with the spinach and cheese version being one I still dream about… Lucky for me, La Muns also had a stall at Primavera Sounds, so I enjoyed quite a few! Later I headed to Gelatiamo Caffe Bistro for lunch, and the crepe gourmet was a well-filled thin crepe with deliciously marinated vegetables.

As I'm not exactly a native Spanish speaker, I was grateful to run into plant-based brunch Café Equilibrivm, it was a comfort knowing that as a vegetarian I was able to eat anything on the menu! That said, they made choosing quite hard, but I went for the plant-based pancakes with cream cheese and bacon. It was my first time trying cashew cream cheese and I’d highly recommend! The staff were friendly, service quick, and the café looking incredibly aesthetically pleasing.

On my last day I went for a light lunch at La Galena after which I headed to Can Ganassa for a family-sized portion of authentic paella! I sat at their terrace and was waited upon in a lovely manner, making me feel appreciated and comfortable, despite not all Spaniards being fans of tourists. Most days I enjoyed a homemade breakfast at lovely accommodation, Guest House Balmes, which was well-catered for and kept squeaky clean.

anyway, forgot to update their designs for new hcs, so here's dlc bosses (as of 2024)

some notes:

Widow takes no shit and if you fail the vibe check:tm: she can and WILL murder you

she's a good mother, though can be a bit run ragged and have a short temper (having like... almost 20 or so kids from a single clutch does that to you) but this aint her first rodeo so she manages p well all things considered

Widow is fully female and was born that way. (shapes being semi-hermaphrodites means that while most have both a small amount are one or the other)

Widow is also significantly larger than most of the local spider shapes, but that doesn't bother her, just means that most of them leave her alone

(Her kids def see Fresh as 'uncle' at minimum, they get along fairly well)

Morbid is a pyromaniac, no big surprise there- though a lot of it is a subconscious need now, since being trapped in the void:tm: unable to set fires fucked em up a lot (alongside some other issues)

Morbid is actually from a completely different timeframe and is confused by a lot of modern things. has difficulty communicating as well from well, language drifting and slangs.

(they walked into a glass door once and freaked out bc they didn't understand what it was at first. they still get embarrassed if you bring it up)

Morbid does get new clothes after they get bailed out of tree jail in the void:tm: they just had to get calmed down and stopped from committing massive amounts of arson first.

they're SO confused about almost everything, annoyed about a good section of other things, and there are a few things that they actually like about modern things, though most of the time it's mixed with confusion or annoyance

Morbid is mainly a Fire Elemental Variant of a Elemental shape, but they do have some spirit mixed in as well (that's the reason they weren't even more fucked up)

Morbid doesn't need to eat food to survive, they can make do on parasitizing off of other living things or just eating things that can be used to fuel their fire

Morbid can get drunk off of things like motor oil, this tends to have... consequences- (mixing a known pyromaniac that can set things on fire on will with being drunk off their ass? yeah.... i think yall can get what i'm putting down here)

💜// baby’s first prototype designs! stumbled upon it again today— and despite selling my soul to otherworldly forces to draw those shoes, i scrapped this rendition very quickly. very much ‘almost-there-but-not-quite’ drafts.

(also haven't quite nailed down how to render ectoplasm how I like, and any past renditions was waaay back when it resembled fire instead of electricity. one day.......)

even w/ her ‘finalized’ design, there’s still tweaks i’d love to make for both her AND doc (i feel like doc’s silhouette can be pushed further & i’d like to make ophelia a touch more haunting…also…….she’d wear kitten heels)

Ok here’s my design for Esme in Glorious Masquerade event! Her dress is a combination of her red dress and of the midnight masquerade. Her dress is mainly red, and the bottom layer is purple, outlined in gold along with the top. The top layer and her sleeves are her signature scarf, and is transparent as well! The sleeves are off the shoulder, but in the back has the extra fabric, which I’ve tried drawing a mini sketch to help show it.

I’m pretty happy with how everything turned out! Of course tambourine and Djali (not drawn) is included in the event. Plus one can see where her burns are from the bandages.
