Wednesday 31st January - Creating the project

Back to my "LoveMatch" project - I couldn't really work on it yesterday because a work ticket that I still not working on right now took most of my time plus Russian study plus anime, so today I made some progress by designing the logo for the game!

Plus me singing to Love Train that I found on YouTube recommendation after many years and I got excited :)

I want to get the homepage done today!! That would be lovely~!

we’ve all seen arranged marriage russingon aus but how about a “both of them desperately try to talk their fathers into arranging that specific marriage while their fathers insist that of course they’d never trade their children’s ability to make a lovematch for the sake of politics” au

(bonus points if the conflict is mended by feanor and fingolfin separately deciding that it’s gone too far if their eldest sons feel the need to sacrifice themselves over it while our main couple remains tragically and selfishly blueballed)

re: possible storylines for Gladys and Buckingham in season 3:

A) Hector and Gladys actually get along pretty well, fall in love, get married, not necessarily in that order (à la Cobert)

B) Hector and Gladys get along pretty well, but then either realises that the other loves someone else (Gladys has another suitor, or Hector likes a girl back in England or a glamorous american theater actress but can't marry her because no money) or Gladys is repulsed by the idea he only started courting her because of her money, and they break things off despite Bertha's meddling.

C) Hector and Gladys don't get along at all but Gladys has no choice but to marry him or smth (i doubt it, with the emphasis put so far on George's wish for his daughter to make a lovematch) and, by becoming a british duchess, frees herself forever from her mother even if technically most of the money Hector and Gladys will live with would come from her dowry.

D) Hector and Gladys don't get along at all, their entire arc through the season is more and more drama as they have relationships with other people (the guy from S2E9 for Gladys, or John Adams, etc., literally any pretty girl introduced just for the sake of drama for Hector), argue, snub each other in public, avoid each other's company, argue again... (a bit like Sir Richard Carlisle and Lady Mary but with less blackmail I suppose). In the end they break it off after some good, cathartic, both-sides-are-equally-bad season long melodrama which brought some loud noise to the rest of the storylines. George might or might not throw Hector out (I'm thinking of either Hector cheating on Gladys, or threatening her, although so far he didn't seem the violent type).

Most probable I think is B), BUT depending on outside circumstances (remember that for Downton Abbey, multiple actors signed for only three seasons... Sybil, Matthew, O'Brien...) if for example the actress playing Gladys wishes to have a smaller role going forward or to quit altogether for better prospects outside of the show, it is entirely possible A) will come into play. C) might be just a bit too grim for a JF show, which tend to have a majority of happy endings (yeah yeah i know, Gosford Park was grim and half of Downton Abbey's characters died or left never to be seen again. let me cling to hope). D) is possible insofar that The Gilded Age has, mainly with Bertha, a lot of storylines which would have been unthinkable in DA (plus with the parallel i drew with DA already it's not like even in DA it would have been impossible).

Summary:  Baldwin Montclair had a string of ex girlfriends, a single child, and a  lifetime longer than most people could dream of to make all kinds of  mistakes. His family knew one which kept coming out of the woodwork to  irritate him every other century

'Come along!' Jaquob gestured for Yvette and the others to follow him as he walked down the dirt path towards the woods.

They had arranged the secret playdate weeks ago, carefully coordinating one another's schedules until everyone was available. The only other people who knew were Yvette and Jaquob's bodyguard Vincent, who had been tailing them, the other children's parents, Jaquob's mother Loyse, and Martin, who believed in fostering independence in his daughter.

'I hope that the apple tree you saw has fruit!' Honnorée was the youngest of seven, the daughter of weavers who had moved to Dôle in search of better prospects for their business. She had met Jaquob when he had come into her family's shop to buy a new basket as a birthday present for his mother, and the two nine-year-olds had become fast friends.

'I like apple with cheese' Porret's father was a watchmaker; he had made several clocks for Martin over the years, and his son had played with Yvette through many long business meetings.

'I hope there is blackberries!' Symonne was the daughter of a roofer and his wife, and had been introduced to Yvette when her father had taken a contract to make repairs to Martin's townhouse. 'I like blackberry jam.'

'They only grow in France' Yvette pat Symonne on the arm sympathetically as they stomped through the undergrowth.

'But we have blackberry jam at home!' Symonne looked at her friend, confused.

'Yes but it had to come from a long, long, long way away,' Yvette explained.

'I am not sure that is how food works' Symonne shook her head. Suddenly, they realised that the two of them and Porret had been slowly slipping behind, so the trio of four-year-olds linked hands and hurried after the older children.

The apple tree did have fruit on it, which they picked, and Honnorée had packed a sack of cheese and bread, so they settled down for a picnic in the middle of the clearing.

'I was introduced to Walraven yesterday' Honnorée said quietly.

'Walraven?!' Symonne, Yvette and Porret shrieked. Honnorée giggled at the look on their faces.

'Why did you not fetch me?!' Jaquob demanded.

They had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Honnorée's fiancé for months. Walraven's father and Honnorée's had originally been members of the same guild, and had kept in touch when Walraven's father moved to the County of Flanders.

The children had been introduced to each other as long-distance friends as a joke, but as their friendship blossomed their parents began to actually consider a lovematch. Honnorée's parents had been careful to stress, however, that she was in no way obligated to see the engagement through, and the wedding would not take place until the children were at least sixteen.

'What is he like?' Yvette asked.

'He is kind,' Honnorée beamed.

'Good.' Jaquob nodded.

'I hope I marry someone kind' Yvette poked the ground next to her.

'Will you marry a prince?' Symonne asked excitedly. 'I wish I could marry a prince.'

'You would have a lot of things to do if you marry a prince,' Porret chimed in.

'I would not mind as long as he was kind,' said Yvette.

Martin nearly choked on his dinner.

Coughing into his napkin, Martin shuffled his chair closer to Yvette.

'Where has this question come from, dereling?'

'Honnorée is engaged.'

Yvette was gazing up at him, curiosity lighting her eyes. His daughter and her friends had talked of nothing but the boy's arrival for weeks; he really should have seen this sort of question coming.

Martin slid out of his chair and knelt beside his daughter so he could look her in the eye.

'No, you are not engaged. Nor do I have any plans to sell you off to the highest bidder.' Martin took Yvette's hands in his own.

'Your health and happiness comes before anything else. And when you marry, I want it to be out of love, not obligation or duty.'

'Really?' Yvette asked, surprised.

'Yes. I want a daughter, not a legacy.'

Author's Notes

Dôle was the capital of the Free County of Burgundy (Franche-Comté). It was bordered by the Duchy of Burgundy to the west, and the Kingdom of Arles to the east. It was part of the Holy Roman Empire, and during the reign of Philip the Bold Dôle served as the centre of the county's new council and parliament.

Arranged marriages were not typical for peasants, as there was really no great material benefit for either party. Land owners, lesser and upper nobility, and royalty, didn't have the luxury of marrying for love and so arranged marriages were considered quite normal.

Most European nobles married quite young (as early as 12 or 13), and there have been famous examples of pregnant mothers as young as 14 years old (Lady Margaret Beaufort, for example). However peasants often got married in their 20s, and many women remained unmarried, or worked before entering into a marriage and continued to work after they were wed.

The County of Flanders was part of the Low Countries, located along the Nort Sea. It is now known as Belgium.

what’s your current obsessions at the moment?

Bridgerton. I find myself thinking in a regencyvoice. I sound like lady whistledown and i have to make an actual effort not to sound like her out loud. The only reason I haven't yet written a 100k story set in this world yet is because i am lacking a coherent enough idea, and enough seasons, to confidently start one. That and I'm not steady enough in this fandom yet to know the fauxpars and the hot takes to propperly tag one should i come up with something. Hyacint is especially dear to me. Not sure if that's controversial but I will stand by it! Just... The way this girl was born in this family's darkest time and yet became their brightest light! Is there anything her older siblings do that doesn't fill her with adoration and excitement? I haven't read the books but this angel better get a lovematch that is everything we've seen her vehemently hoping for every season so far.

Dhmis gaming Headcanons Headcanons!!!:

-Yellow likes to play Roblox on the computer :D

-Duck prefers to play the Sims, but he isn't very good at it, he kills his families for the funsies and mostly sees it as a death simulator. He may also play war games but won't allow Yellow to watch as he thinks they're too much for his weak mind.

-Red is a Minecraft epic gamer, he can wipe out the sickest plays in the world, the closest water buckets imaginable and the best in pvp... But he is constantly keeping a straight face so it's kinda hard to really tell if he's doing it because he is a pro or just plain lucky.

-Roy plays minesweeper but always looses on the last (very obvious) mine, he prefers to play solitaire which he does surprisingly good.

-Sketchbook (or Paige, however you call her) is a Splatoon fan, she'll go feral if she sees green, but any other color she thinks is really creative and beautiful.

-Tony isn't a fan of videogames or technology in general (he thinks its a waste of precious time) but Yellow got him to play and enjoy simple games like Purble Place or Majong.

-Shringold (idk how to type it lmao) is a great enjoyer of The Ms.Kitty lovematching game, but he's a little... Ya know, so he would be very selective with who he plays.

-Collin is the computer, he ain't playing most of the time 😭😭😭 he enjoys playing Roblox with Yellow but gets really competitive.

-Gilbert loves airplane simulators, he can see the whole world in those.

-The steak and Spinach can love cooking mama games!!! The peta one is their favourite :3.

-The lamp (I think the fandom calls him Larry) just enjoys chill games like Animal crossing or Stardew Valley.

-Ms.briefcase doesn't have the time to play, he is always working.

-Brandon plays League of legends why do you think he's unemployed.

-Coffin doesn't even know what a computer is.

-The twins play the Sims too!!! But they always make the perfect family, a mom, a dad, and the beautiful sons and daughters... If anything ruins it they will go feral and destroy everything only to start again.

-Warren is honestly more of a Valorant gamer, maybe even a World of Warcraft... Maybe genshin?

-Mr.choochoo doesn't even know what electricity is, he's still living in the steam age.

-Electracy is a huge gamer of all kind of games!!! But she really enjoys Pokémon, specially Pokémon Yellow.

I'm not happy that it's her, but I get that it's more than likely not an enduring lovematch and that, at the end of the day, this sort of thing is par for the course. He has a job to do and this is part of it it seems. Getting Kylie Jenner level exposure isnt gonna be bad for the bottom line. And let's allllllll be real here, IF it's true and they've been "dating" since PFW (or even NYE) and this is all we've ever seen of it? KUDOS and it still shows he can be private (to an extent) as a famous person.

I made the Lovematchers in thier final form and Poppy and Branch's lovelights in gacha life 2! I will be posting more OCs and possibly character remakes on gacha life 2 soon. The next characters are probably gonna be FireFlare's negative side next. Basically FireFlare's negative side is a piece of FireFlare's negativity that feeds off FireFlare's sadness and bad thoughts. It would also feed off of Poppy and Branch's negativity and try to make the two lovelights die.

Monday 29th January - Creating the project

I started planning for the "LoveMatch" project! This time I didn't use Figma but made the sketch in my random notebook! I haven't done this in a way but it is a bit more quicker!

I will now try and add this into a Figma file since I don't know, I just want to do it~! Probably tonight or tomorrow I will start coding it up!
