OK like the Fili milk scene. Thorin there in the background always made me lol bc I was picturing him being kind of grossed out like one of those people who find plain milk disgusting but if milk is really difficult to get to get and impossible to store what if Thorin is watching Fili drink milk (one of his favorite foods, a treat he used to only get on his birthday) and feeling like. Shame. Guilt. For not being able to give his family more in Ered Luin. And also a renewed determination to give Fili a better future, one where he’ll someday be King. And get all the milk and butter he wants. What if. What if. 🤔

this is also crazy cuz i been talking to @oatmilktruther this weekend about thorin really struggling with feeling like he's earned certain comforts and really harming himself because he's holding himself to Impossibly High Standards. so on top of him finding plain milk disgusting (hilarious, adopted as hc immediately💀) i think also he might see that luxury and be like. "Fili should be able to have this every day. Until I can provide this I, of course, don't deserve dairy at all" And maybe not even then😵‍💫what if
