Some Murder Drones Episode 7 screenshots I thought were interesting and my thoughts on them :>

"Fun Time To Universe Big Crunch: 87". The Big Crunch is a hypothetical way the Universe could end, where the universe folds on itself and shrinks into a single point. 87 "what" I don't know. If it's months, that 7 years and 3 months

Honestly the Murder Drones lore is super confusing. I think what this is trying to say is that every other Zombie Drone is doing poorly, (Except for Yeva), they are trying to reactivate 002 (Nori) via the USB. I'm not sure what this means. Maybe they only got the results they wanted from the two of them, and are trying again with Nori since she was the only other one that worked (also why they got Yeva when she failed; this may all be referring to how the episode opened up) Also, the date says SER. As revealed in the episode Cabin Fever, Copper-9 has months that Earth does not. SER most likely stands for Seramorris, the month revealed in that episode

Probably already confirmed, but doubly confirmed that a symptom of the Solver is giving Drones organic insides. A Worker Drone body with a rib cage and guts. I wonder what would happen if the infection continued uninterrupted (also R.I.P. Doll I loved you :frown:)

I'm sure everyone noticed, but when Uzi tried to manipulate Tessa, the ERROR noticed appeared. Already hinting Tessa is not all she says she is

I know most people (I think) see this as a joke and N just being a bit of goofball. But honestly, I think he did it intentionally to shock Cynuzi and give Nori a chance. In the Pilot, he licked V's sword to surprise her too, which means he isn't unfamiliar with doing something weird and surprising for the advantage

Skyn eating Doll's core. R.I.P. Doll again. Seriously, was that Doll in Core Form like Nori was? Or was Nori a fringe case because she was "Exorcised" and this is just a regular core? Questions, questions. Also yeah the Solver also gives you a Core. Fun

This tag makes me think that this body is Cyn's actual body. Not longer a hologram, but her actual body from the mansion. The reason Tessa gave N, J, and V their names was because that was the first letter of their Serial Designation (she's very uncreative). However, Cyn's tag was slightly faded, which meant her SD couldn't be seen, so Tessa gave her the name "Cyn" after her P/N, even though the other 3 already have the same P/N as Cyn (Tessa, again, is very uncreative)...

...and for some reason, Cyn or the Solver, which ever theory you subscribe to, decided to wear Tessa as a skin suit for some twisted reason. It did help her with the Captcha. Also scary because this doesn't have the right proportions for an adult (unless Cyn really forced that skin on), which leads me to believe that this is a Younger Tessa, and she faked having an older voice. Maybe I shouldn't call her my wife... I'm sure Eldritch J is still available :^)

(Seriously, the eyes are burnt out, leaving two eye holes over the visor, so she gives herself two X eyes so it looks better. Also yeah we found out what that thing on the "It Came From Copper-9" poster came from. It really was Cyn or Skyn)

Just a frame of the final...frame... for coolness. I'm probably also going to use this for a background. Also, this is definitely Copper-9. You can see the ring and ringless moon together on the right. Uzi somehow got sent to orbit after falling in the meat hole

To be honest, I can’t remember anything major… But I am very bad at remembering my own drawings, so maybe it’s just my memory thing.

Sometimes I get carried away when I write a reply and start thinking “damn this sounds fun” and then months later end up drawing it, completely forgetting that it was a hc from a list or something like that…

But also sometimes I draw a new ship and start remembering how Anon asked about this ship ages ago and I replied “nah don’t ship them” or “nothing against it but we don’t care much” back then lol I think it happened with Ace/Riddle and Trey/Vil, for example.

Also oof, good question. I feel like Ortho would definitely feel like this is how people feel about him, like they would be nice to him and all, but him being worse than Idia is such a huge elephant in the room that no one could realistically ignore. There could probably be some people in S.T.Y.X. who genuinely blame Ortho for what’s happened with their precious prodigy, but the overall consensus would probably be that this was an accident, Ortho was still very young, and that they shouldn’t blame him. This is partially because Ortho is seemingly everyone’s little sunshine, and people would probably feel bad for him.

But! Once again, Ortho would absolutely feel like they just don’t truthfully express how they really feel about him. To him it’s 100% objective truth: it should’ve been him, and everyone knows that even if they act like they don’t agree. He doesn’t have as much to offer as Idia did and he can’t achieve half of the things Idia could have…

The angst just keeps getting more and more potent huh

OOF OK THIS ONES PRETTY DEEP STRAP IN

It’s hard to talk about Ariel without diving into the movie itself so this gonna be long lol

Ariel is actually an amazing character for half the movie RIGHT up to the point she enters the whole voiceless arc. She's so multilayered and her actions in the movie make a lot of sense because of her age and strained relationship with her father. People call her spoiled, a brat, or dumb bc she gave up everything she had for “a boy”. Which if you’ve seen my track record by now, you’ll know I disagree with lol.

Ariel is free spirited, adventurous, naive, daring, bubbly, curious, etc. She knows she doesn’t want to just be a pretty bird who sings to please everyone, but that’s the role she has been condemned to. No one sees Ariel, they see her prized voice. The beautiful princess with the angelic voice. She is told what to think and want by everybody around her and when she tries to express otherwise, no one listens to her. Everyone listens to her voice, but not what she’s saying.

1.) Ariel is not selfish or spoiled. She is someone who knows she has a (mostly) loving family. She has been forced into hiding her true thoughts and desires because her father only reacts negatively, always screaming at her and silencing her whenever she tries to explain herself. She doesn’t constantly complain or snap at people when she doesn’t get what she wants, only getting angry when her father screams at her first and when Sebastian snitches on her which causes her entire safe space to be destroyed.

2.) She. Is. A. Teenager. She is in a very tumultuous time in her life with many emotions running rampant which, if not properly cared for, WILL cause her to make rash decisions and rebel. I am not only referring to the Big Moment where she becomes human, I mean those subtle actions like swimming to the surface when forbidden to and secretly hoarding countless human artifacts in a small cave. Small little things that are the brightest part of her day. It is only when her father is at his most abusive, angrily destroying all her most valued possessions right in front of her, does Ursula take advantage of her, stealing her voice to make that horrible deal, IMMEDIATELY when she is at her most broken down.

Now, I know people immediately run to “wow, she gave up her entire amazing life and precious family just to be with this dude who doesn’t even know she exists just like that?” No. She has always desperately wanted to be human and explore what it’s like up on land for who knows how long, it’s Ursula who used her intense (and first!) crush on Eric to sweeten the deal. So, it wasn’t just for a boy.

See. Look at all that delicious character building. She has an I Want™  song and everything.

AND THEN THE VOICELESS ROMANCE ARC

Listen up I know what people say to defend this. Eric was entranced by Ariel’s voice just like everyone else when he first met her, but through those 3 days he had to get to know, and fall in love with, the real Ariel who wasn’t this angelic siren he pictured in his head. She puts forks in her hair, blows pipe smoke into people’s faces, rides horses across cliffs for the lols. When Ariel is in the human world she isn’t solely focused on Eric, she is living her dream, excitedly walking through streets on her feet as she’s always dreamed, exploring what the town has to offer.

But,,,they literally never properly communicate with one another on what’s going on in each other’s heads. Ursula says Ariel needs to make Eric fall for her in 3 days without her voice and Ariel is like, “How do I do that without talking???” Ursula basically goes lol men don’t care what you have to say you just need to be pretty.

And I know Eric doesn’t only like Ariel for her looks but,,,Ursula wasn’t exactly wrong??? Ariel doesn’t let him know about her interests, thoughts, feelings, nor does he ask for them. They go on the equivalent of one date where both seem to wanna see each other more after lol. Bc of that all the true love talk is very meh to me.

Basically once she becomes human, Ariel remains mostly passive for the rest of the movie. Her dad saves her from the contract, Eric saves her from Ursula (though I acknowledge her small lil save to Eric beforehand), then she becomes human forever and sails off into the sunset. The lesson she learns is sort of unclear here, even though she apologizes to her father. All her issues and mess ups are fixed for her in the end and she gets what she wants. It’s just unsatisfying to see how little of a role she plays at the end of the movie.

So, I don’t think Ariel is very admirable tbh, but I do think she is one of the most relatable princesses. A rebellious teenage girl with an overbearing father. She isn’t quite the strong feminist icon like Mulan or anything, but I do appreciate how much thought was put into her personality. She’s a fully realized and 3 dimensional person- emotional, driven, flawed, charming, gullible, bright, impulsive, etc. Which is really progressive looking at where she is in the timeline of Disney princess films. A step in the right direction. It's mainly the ending where I have the most criticism for with these movies lol.

When I first heard the album I remember thinking there aren’t enough sad songs on here and then I entered a depressive spiral and HA I WAS WRONG (Sidenote i hate tumblr formatting)

1 - The Good Witch

Like the vibe 

“Still upset but I now I’m twenty-two” - I'm a sucker for an age lyric - especially the parallel with You Signed Up For This (“I am twenty and probably upset right now”) and the fact that it’s the titular song again

“Still bitter” - Reference to Details (love of my life <3), Reference to I’m Trying (Not Friends)

“The calm before the storm comes rushing through” - Harmony v pretty (around 30 secs) 

“Still King’s Cross and pullin’ heartbreak out of hats”- Love the reference to King’s Cross, her London references makes it feel so grounded and especially again it being a place in London I travel through it makes it feel like a new album and a specific album to me (still King’s Cross for a tiny little while longer). Also relating to Elvis song (“last train on the Northern line”) always moving through London, experiences anchored in London geography. Also love the ramping up of the music here

“Still argue like my mother and suppress stuff like my dad” - The pace on this line really shows the suppressing stuff lol

“Am I better yet?” - Change from You Signed Up For This “I know I’ll get better/I’m just not better yet" Questioning it now like I know I’ve changed but is it better? Am I at the point I want to be??

Instrumental outro and talking hurts my heart a bit? Very 3 am fucked up in a club

2 - Coming of Age

I am a sucker for happy sounding songs with fucked up lyrics

Music is so personal for me and this one is such a reclamation even though it’s so sad

“obedient blue eyes” - This line is AMAZING. The pauses. The lyricism. The casualness. *chefs kiss*

Such a good single choice bc it’s such an easy listen but so brutal so captures heartbreak and bops and also u wanna listen over and over

“Tell me just one more lie” - Come on just use your shitty lies to save my dignity this once instead of ripping it to shreds

So specific but also just feels like every friendship group I’ve ever had

It feels like laughing til you cry and your stomach hurts and being up at 3am dancing and deep chats and crying together and every little thing

“Haven’t thought of home twice” - feels like a hectic Cambridge time or any second and third week somewhere new when you’ve started to settle and everything is new and fun and you’re flying and you don’t wanna lose it

Fave lyric: “I'm twenty-one and I feel evergreen” - The way she sings this is so wistful, or “It was falling in love/in a gas station/by the pickup trucks” - Love the juxtaposition, love in the weirdest and most unexpected places

7 - You're Just a Boy (and I'm Kinda the Man)

“You’re kind of awful but you’re not awful on purpose” - Ugh you suck but you’re not even aware so it’s better and worse because how can I blame you but also how can you not know??

“I’m on a one way trip to take over the world/you could’ve come but your head’s in the sand” - Usually head in the sand is to avoid something shitty so it’s interesting to have it like this, like you’re so determined to ignore flaws that you miss all the joy

“But you pushed me out quicker than it took me to put my jeans on” - Oof that hit and feels like such shame but suddenly you’re like no if you’re not feeling like you’re the luckiest damn person then I’m gonna keep on going and you’ll see what you lost 

Fave lyric: “I take in clowns like a one-woman circus” or “Goodbye from the bigger man" - Reference to I’m Trying (Not Friends)

8 - Lost the Breakup

“Didn’t say it in those words but I know how your tone works” - Like okay yeah you can hide behind what you said but we both know what you meant

Like the second chorus changing to add “So I'll lock the window and turn on the AC/You'll throw your rocks and you'll scream that you hate me/But it gets old being forever twenty” - YES like being forever young for a man is not worth it

“What about my wings” - The way she sings this is *chefs kiss*

“It’s a life I could have, I know“ - but I am worth MORE and I know it YES

“If I’m not careful I’ll wake up and we’ll be married” - We’ll be married and I’ll be terrified and it’s so easy to be caught up in you

My constant companion and best little man, Pecker (named by mom after the 1998 John Waters film Pecker, she didn't get the offensive implications lol) nicknamed "Pepper."

The rest of the post is gonna be a downer. If you aren't in the mood for that, just enjoy the absolutely adorable dog pictures and keep scrolling.

Today, my dog passed away in his home very suddenly, in his sleep. He had been fighting a long battle with heart disease and due to his age and genetic factors the condition spread too quickly and too strongly to be effectively treated. My father took care of him for his final days, as our boy was constantly loved, hugged, protected and nurtured by family who loved him.

He was a happy, playful boy. Full of life and always moving around, even near the end he was getting up and walking a few times, lifting his head up and occasionally wagging his tail. He lived to the ripe old age of 15.

Some fast facts about him:

Pecker:

Got the name "Tick-Tick" because of the sound his nails would make everywhere he'd walk

Also got the nickname "Kramer" because he liked to kick open my door

We liked to call him "Pepper" in front of company, and "Peckerwood" which we later found out isn't actually another word for "woodpecker" but something more offensive. Oof! But he made it funny. We liked to call him "Peck-Peck-Peckerwood!" when he trotted into a room.

He never hurt a living creature in his life or caused anyone pain. Except some guy named Anthony, the only person he ever bit lol. Crazy lil guy.

One time I went walking him a little girl saw him and petted him. Then, a bunch of kids came running from around the corner to love up on him and pet him because they were so excited.

Walking him, a couple times a little kid would pet him and say hi to him. One time while strutting around and drinking something, he proclaimed "I know that dog!"

One time I put a lolipop in front of his face expecting him to lick it, and he bit it instead.

As a puppy, he liked to "accidentally" knock over pop cans and drink the spillage.

He was the first pup to be picked out of the litter, and the runt.

He loved snow, probably because of his big fur coat.

Despite being a tiny little mop, he had a furious bark. One time two cops came to our door and the dog barked so loud they walked off the porch. Later they asked my dad "what kind of monster dog do you have in there?" and he poked his little head out, and they were SO annoyed and embarrassed.

Was about 3 feet long and roughly 2 feet tall.

One time when he was a puppy I watched him whimper in fear about a jump he was about to make: jumping off a couch onto big fluffy pillow. We called it a "crash pad."

When he first came home my sister was a sobbing mess after getting dumped. He came up to her her and licked her nose and she stopped crying instantly.

One time I stayed over a friend's house and came home in the middle of the night, I petted him, and he turned and nodded at me like it was nothing. Then he, in a half-awake state, realized what was going on and rocked himself excitedly awake to greet me.

RIP Pecker. You had a funny name but you were the best dog I could ever ask for. You will be missed <3.

i think it’s a fair representation of my style, and also does the hand-holding of gradually working up to those massive chapter lengths i tried to get away with in SJLT lmao. but more importantly, more than the one-shots i have sitting there on my ao3, it’s the introduction to what i guess is my biggest selling point: the serialisation and interconnectivity.

I have, I was doing a pretty large scale Critical Role rp fic with four other people. It disintegrated from some interpersonal tensions and one person leaving the fandom entirely but I still think very fondly on it. Before that, I was doing a Borderlands OC rp with a friend.

You ask me, a bisexual, to make a choice? Lol. Lmao, even. I do not have a One True Pairing, I have learned the mature art of multishipping like a goddamn adult.

15. what’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

OOF well this is a tie between Sometimes Goodbye and A Thistle's Thorns, both being all but abandoned due to fandom drift and loss of motivation. I found the original outline I had (thankfully) written out for Sometimes Goodbye, and I have started another BL2 playthrough, but FFXIV has eaten my life at this point so idk if I'll ever come back to it properly.

16. what are your writing strengths?

Show don't tell, detail descriptions, I have been told my characterisation through dialogue has been consistently on point (which is a relief), worldbuilding

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

Finding a good place to end. if left to my own devices I will Just Keep Rambling. That was actually one of the reasons I kept my FFXIVWrite entries so short. I needed to get over the hump of just letting things end.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I haven't had this particular problem yet, but I will once I start writing stuff for Stormblood, because Kitali is multilingual.

When I'm reading it, though, I prefer to just have a dialogue tag indicating which language is being spoken and then either a bold, italics, or both to show what's being spoken in what language. It saves me the trouble of scrolling back and forth and back and forth from the notes at the end of the chapter or trying to remember what was said where exactly and in what context.

Historical or Futuristic

Historical, definitely! I’ve written on my blog before that sci-fi disturbs and sometimes frightens me, and not in the fun way. I am a professional historian, so I’m very comfortable writing about several periods and places I’ve studied, in academic settings but also through my personal studies. I’ve written about ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, and China, the Byzantine Empire, Middle Ages Europe, Renaissance Europe, Feudal Japan, 18th century Europe and the Americas from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Currently I’m playing around with an idea about or based on Tudor England.

Opening or Closing Chapter

Closing chapter! It’s finally over, lol. And you can torment your readers with a little cliffhanger for the next book ;)

Light and Fluffy or Dark and Gritty

A good mix of both, but I suppose I lean juuuust slightly towards dark and gritty. I write a good deal of horror, and that is definitely a factor. But light and fluffy definitely comes in! It can’t be grimdark all the time.

Animal Companion or Found Family

Found family! I turned away from animal companions after Robin Hobb’s books lol. If you know, you know. (I do love them but that one scene…oof.)

Horror or Romance

Horror AND romance! The horror OF romance! The romance OF horror! It’s difficult for me to write one without the other. They intertwine so perfectly, and together they can have strong emotional impact.

Hard Magic System or Soft Magic System

It depends on the WIP, but I do like a hard magic system sliiiightly more than a soft magic system.

Stand-alone or Series

Series! When I fall in love with a story (particular with the characters), it’s hard to let go. I like to give them more adventures, see how they grow and change, or how their world changes around them. As a historian, I’m very interested in the latter, in how political and social tides rise and fall.

One Project at a Time or Always Juggling 2+

Always juggling! I love to explore different genres in particular, so although I have a fantasy world I’ve been working on for more than a decade, I write southern gothic, ocean gothic, historical fiction, and horror often as well. I have so many WIPs it’s not even funny lol.

One Award Winner or One Bestseller

That’s tough. I don’t particularly care about accolades of any kind, but I do like to know that people like my work. So I’ll go with bestseller. If I impress critics, that’s nice, but I want to make an audience happy more than anything.

Fantasy or Sci-Fi

Fantasy, 1000%. My first real fandom experience was in the Tolkien fandom. I loved Lord of the Rings when I was a child (I collected all the action figures, and like a the red-blooded gay boy I was, Legolas was my favourite <3). I fell in love with Elves in particular, the beauty and elegance of their faces, forms, architecture, clothing. I wanted more of their lore. So I went to The Silmarillion, and that was it for me. I do like some sci-fi, but it’s not as escapist as fantasy for me. And fantasy, particularly Tolkien’s and Tolkien’s followers’ fantasy, is heavily based on historical Europe, which is my primary academic study.

Character Description or Setting Description

Both! And like horror and romance, they intertwine. I like to match my character’s inner world to the outer world, and have their appearance hint at their location or place of origin. The people of Merovyn, for example, have very pale skin, a reflection of the snow around them, and the people of Heledd tend to have richer coloured hair and eyes, a reflection of the jewels and gold and other wealth of their country.

First Draft or Final Draft

Final draft! Ugh, first drafts are the worst! Sure you have more freedom, but editing is far easier for me than drafting. I am a freelance editor, and have even worked on a now published book as an editor. I love doing it, as it’s sort of like a puzzle, and also a refining process that I liken to the final polishing of a marble statue. That image appeals to me lol.

Incomprehensible - POV of other hobbits in the Shire, unable to understand why the four Travelers act the way they do, or why eventually their number drops to three.

I tend to be a bit Victor Hugo-esque with my sentences, aka I have to control myself so the sentence doesn't stretch on for five paragraphs

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I mean? For LOTR I would definitely sprinkle in elvish just for the vibe of it, also because he did so, but I would also provide translations. For real-world...hmm. I think I did throw in three or four German words in The Book Thief fic I posted recently, but again, the author himself did so, and I think so long as you're not adding a full, necessary sentence that the reader is then required to look up in order to understand what's going on, and if you instead just use a curse word or a muttered phrase of annoyance or something in the other language, I think that's fine.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

LOTR, I believe. Hand-written in seventh or eighth grade XD

(And then I wrote dozens of unfinished Loz fics in the notes app on my mom's ancient phone she didn't use anymore, fics that completely misunderstood any of the games because I hadn't played them yet. It pains me to think about those fics).

(also this is not counting those "add on to the end of the story!" assignments teachers used to give out in middle school)

againnnn we are doing several (look my decision making has been ATROCIOUS lately, I cannot be faulted <3)

you feel like home - SkSw Zelink, a teeny tiny bit of angst but mostly fluff (also Link nearly throws hands with Scrapper which is a bonus. When I tell you I cranked that fic out in a day after getting so salty with Scrapper I nearly snapped my wiimote in half)

would I run off the world someday - a very recent TP Zinc fic!! It has traces of Midlink; essentially, it's about Link refusing to stop grieving Midna, and thus hurting himself and Zelda, who is in love with him due to having shared a soul with Midna. It's basically a 4+1 fic and does end happy with the promise of future Zelink, very different from my normal Zelink stuff though

Forbidden - Zinc week fic that didn't get as much attention as my other two ZW fics, but I actually really really love it so. <3 I just. idk I love the prose of that fic, I suppose :) and the ending hehe

Her own anger? If she can, by working it off. Anger is sort of a new thing for Wen---she buried the part of herself that was allowed to be angry for a large portion of her life (between her mother's death and the ill-fated wedding) and she really doesn't know how to cope with her own anger initially. Over the course of the events in Origins, she goes from a hair-trigger temper to storming off to...storming off less often. If she's stuck with people she likes, she will sit in a simmering silence. If possible, she'd rather throw knives alone or fight. Sparring is a bad idea, though---she isn't good at gauging her own speed and strength when she's mad and she is very aware of that.

(side note: this is why she seems so unhinged in combat. Anger feels bad and alien still; the exertion---even elation---of battle feels almost like a high to her in comparison)

Other people's anger---I think it depends on who and why. Wen would definitely blow strangers off (or, you know, kill them). But people that she actually cares about? Oof. I think she would really struggle to know how to respond at all. My youngest sib used to ground themselves when they were in trouble, preemptively giving up something they liked because punishment hurt too much coming from someone else. I think Wen is like that in a way---I think she would find a way to punish herself if she didn't just get angry back.

(Obviously...this is not the best conflict resolution lol. Something she has to work on with the people she cares about.)

did your muse grow up too fast?

Hmmm, yes and no. I think Wen was always kind of an odd kid (I joked about her being a "certified wolf girl" in a post earlier but...yeah, basically that) and she didn't necessarily get playing with other kids naturally. She got the "mature for your age" line a lot when she was little...but really I think she was just a very internal kid. When Soris and Shianni became a part of her life, they were thick as thieves, built in friends who were willing to embrace her oddness. Her whole childhood was kind of contained to her time with them, because that was when she could act most like a child. But I think she wanted to know how to fight from a pretty young age, so in a sense learning combat was its own way of growing up fast.

After her mother's death, of course, all that was pretty much over. Along the lines of punishing herself, she sort of independently decided that her father wanted her to give up all that knowledge and fit into a more traditional ideal of what a daughter should be. Thoughts From a First-Time Viewer of The Vampire Diaries 

Part One: Reactions from Episodes 1-3

I don’t know how frequently I’ll do these but I thought for now, it could be fun to start cataloguing some of my reactions as I watch! So here are just very very early, initial thoughts I’m having so far. 

The main reason I’m watching this now is that I genuinely am surprised at myself that I’ve never watched this. I’m a sucker for vampires, CW shows, and everything else this falls into. I also haven’t had a fluff show just for myself to watch in a while so it felt like a good time!

I am aware of the different ships that have come out of this but none of them mean anything to me yet so we’ll see where I fall organically (Damon you better get your shit together sir)  

I think I might have been slightly not paying attention during the first episode but I so far have zero idea how old any of these characters are supposed to be (definitely a part of the whole “casting older people to play teenagers” thing but also just genuinely confusing). Which makes it hilarious and also concerning. But also this story so naturally fits the idea that this entire genre works better if the characters are in college!!!!!

Finally understand the whole “that looks like an Elena Gilbert outfit!” comments on TikToks and stuff and you know... I get it. I think there’s a universe where I could take notes from this and continue my strange journey in fashion and start adopting some of her looks

Jeremy as a character............. it’s tough. I mean every character is a trope but I definitely have some complicated thoughts about him so far. But I will say it makes me intrigued to see the direction he’s going to go in and I hope he gets to be more flushed out.

Same with their aunt to be fair. All of the new Spiderman movies definitely have taken cues from this as they just keep de-aging Aunt May lol. I try not to laugh any time she pops up on screen. Praying she gets to evolve more as a character because it’s all very flimsy so far

He's also an expect at transformation and transmutation, and turning his staff into a bleeding-heart baboon is his battle go to move.

■■ Timothy knows the Divine Words "Ha-di" (destroy), "Maw" (water), and "Se-kebeb" (make cold) by heart and uses them whenever he can't Animal Charm himself out of a problem. Although he isn't particularly good at reading Hieroglyphs.

■■■Outside of those two specialities, Timothy can also use water and wind magic, but he's so bad at it that it's like the dollar store version of elemental magic. He can't do anything else lol.

Background

Crazy story really - the day Timothy found the Djed amulet in his locker was the same day some Greek monster snuck into the school to eat some random halfblood.

Before he got to said unnamed halfblood, the monster noticed Timothy could see his true form and attacked him thinking he was prey. A satyr plant at the school saved him, and spirited him away to Camp halfblood without an explanation.

The whole time Timothy was there, everyone and there grandma kept saying "yep, your definitely a child of Athena" and Timothy kept pushing back because his favorite greek god was Poseidon and he took the rivalry thing seriously.

Eventually Mr. D takes a look at him and goes, "i think you might be in the wrong place" and sent him over to Brooklyn. Hilarious right!

Anyway, Timothy spends his time being Felix's found family big brother and having a platonic crush on Carter. Whatever that means.

Head Start at Birth - Chapters 1-10

This one popped up on MAL suddenly because the JP title begins with a "0." Always excited to read/watch something new for a change, but this looks kinda bottom tier. Not only is it an incredibly generic plot, but its adaptation is a short episodes anime 😬

ALSO, this manga is being sold in the west as chapters and in the Webtoon style? I'm old school and kinda hate this. Why can't I just buy volumes?

Ch. 1

Oof this is so generic. I'm trying to give it a chance but the cliches are too much. The art is...fine but not very memorable. At least it's in color.

The mom got over her 3 year old making land management recommendations waaaay too quickly.

I feel like they vaguely implied that the mom is an evil capitalist (monarchist?) since she won't give people tax relief. That could be something interesting to explore...

Reslar (the dragon) sounds suspiciously close to Rizzler lol

They introduce 3 age appropriate boys and then she immediately falls for the older guy. I get that she has the mind of a 30 year old but it's still weird. They'll probably go the "he waits until she's older" route. Whatever -_-

I was pleased that Lilia's parents stayed on her side as she was slightly rude to the royals. Their loyalties are in the right place at least.

Why does every shoujo isekai gotta be fixated on otome games and villainesses? It's honestly so bizarre how keyword obsessed media is these days...

Ch. 3

Yeah so, this is a romance isekai where the MC is 5 and the love interest is 15 🙄 I get that it's kinda based on the olden days when engagements like that were normal due to political marriages, but still. We don't really need to be romanticizing this stuff nowadays, right? Especially when it's a fantasy world where everything's made up and the points don't matter. Oh well.

This situation reminds me of The Familiar of Zero when Louise had a much older fiancé. Although in that series I think it was kind of portrayed as a little creepy/unsettling. Wow never thought I'd be praising The Familiar of Zero as a more progressive option 😅

I do appreciate that the dad (Guy) is ride or die for his daughter, but the joke about him thinking she'd been raped was a little tasteless.

We have yet to see what the plot of this series is going to be. Is it going to follow the romance angle mainly or is it going to be more about Lilia's personal development?

Ch. 4

Lilia's mom looks a lot like she stepped out of Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It's probably just the cravat lol.

We learn about Elrich's tragic backstory (his parents were executed for treason). Unfortunately, it didn't really make him a more interesting character. I had hoped he'd have at least some sort of reaction to the engagement but he's pretty much just "bland perfect husbando" so far.

The sex fantasy was something I could have lived without. Straight to jail.

Hopefully we can get an Elrich chapter here and there to flesh him out. I don't care how much he looks like Lilia's fave otome game character.

Ch. 5

I was wary of the parents at first, but they seem to actually be really good parents? Also, Lilia's mom is super politically smart too (girl boss lol). I guess the doting dad thing is basically just a stock character, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Glad the spirits get to show some actually emotion for once (well, Reslar does anyways).

I do like that Lilia is more focused on her ambitions than Elrich. She just happens to also be really horny for Elrich lol (I'm sorry...that's how it's portrayed).

Ch. 6

Okay, I'm kinda getting into this >_> it's just shoujo isekai brain rot basically but the art is so cute and it's been a long time since I've read a manga in full color

Dressing in your fiancé's color is so romantic ;w; (although I guess people don't always have signature colors irl lol).

The dynamic between mom and Lilia both being badass boss babes gives me Yor/Anya vibes because of the ages haha.

Urgh my anime arch nemesis appears...head pats. I don't think they're cute at all, I think they're weird and demeaning. (Even if I was 5 years old I think I'd be like "get your hand off my head" lol). I still don't know if this is a thing Japanese people do IRL or not.

Lillia being instantly OP at everything she tries is pretty boring, this manga could use more conflict right about now.

Ch. 8

I like the princes' names (Isaac, Leonard, and Ferdinand). IDK if it would be better or worse if Lilia went for one of them instead. You can't win with rebirth scenarios lol

Ch. 9

Wtf, the spirits get ikemen versions? I can get on board with that actually. Some of my OCs are fantasy creatures with human versions actually...
