this song doesn’t have any lyrics, but the continuous underlying rhythm, the resilient energy that keeps on going, just under the surface - that’s temper. (also, he’s bitter about a lot of things so the name is pretty apt.)

temper was raised alone, accidentally isolated from his peers, and all he really wanted was to belong to the family. his oath to arund (dwarven god of the forges) was really just another desperate attempt to be a part of things. he’s definitely changed since then.

he is based primarily off an edgy teen archetype. i couldn’t not include mcr. this song specifically is one of revenge by living, and that’s exactly what he intends to do. he’ll be the best damn weaponsmith this side of the darksteel forges and no one can do anything to stop him.

temper is a sad character at his core, but constantly looking for a time when he perhaps won’t feel everything so sharply. or catharsis. that would also be nice.

despite all his anger and grief, he is so full of love. every single one of his actions have been motivated by a desire to protect his friends (his family), to keep them safe, out of harm’s way. sometimes he loves so hard it threatens to choke him.

he’s constantly surrounded by his past selves, previous incarnations of a winged tiefling called temper, and he’s stuck between acknowledging the good he’s done and pushing back the harm he’s caused. he did want to be famous, he wanted to be noticed. but not for this.

temper doesn’t know a lot about his past selves, but he does know, now, the good things they’ve done. he thinks that maybe, maybe he can atone for the bad. and he won’t need to fight anymore.

On their 18th birthday Bog was supposed to do something...three days before that there was an empty bed at the academy and a letter on the church steps. And a green-skinned kid heading straight for the coast.

I like to think this was the first shanty Bog learned, possibly even before they were hired. They hung around port cities and played in bars because sailors pay well their first night back on dry land. So they probably heard snippets as ships came into the docks.

I can’t really talk much about this one bc it’s in relation to [REDACTED] but there’s something Bog’s running from, something they feel can’t catch them on the open seas (up the river, if you will), and if they’re gonna be in the wrong...at least they’re having a hell of a good time.

What would this playlist be without an ode to the purpose of Bog’s life - make some noise! (The Taliesin Jaffe quote “make people deal with you, but make sure dealing with you is always a pleasant experience” comes to mind) Bog’s favorite thing about being on the ship is the moment’s they can get everyone to join in, no matter their talent, and just sing the chorus of a song together.
