There's this opera's Aria I'm studying from "L'incoronazione di Poppea" by Monteverdi called "Pur ti Miro Pur di Godo." It's the final aria where Poppea and Nerone are together and they sing about their lust for each other. Ok? Ok. And since i listened for the first time, i'm imagining something with Law and Luffy (this piece it's so delicate I swear i cry every fcking time!!!!), a thing where they met again after Black Beard and auaggayskdoeishdbdk
It would be nice to use my music knowledge to write something, but as my laboratory professor said about my presentation for a Bach's concert, i tend to be too technical, especially when i start to talk about meanings and partitura so... I'll leave this prompt in the wild, and pls take care of it ♥️♥️♥️

For #womenshistorymonth a look at some of the most important women in the history of The Phantom of the Opera.
Number 17. Rebecca Caine
Rebecca Caine joined the original cast of The Phantom of the Operaas alternate (performing 2 shows a week) when original Christine Sarah Brightman left the show and was replaced by the original alternate, Claire Moore.
She then went on to originate the role in the Canadian production which premiered on September 20, 1989, at the restored Pantages Theatre. The show broke then box office records for advance ticket sales, and ran for just over ten years.
Rebecca Caine's career has been divided between opera and musical theatre. She made her West End debut at the age of 19 in the role of Laurey in Oklahoma!. She then sang the role of Eliza in My Fair Lady on a national tour. While making her debut at Glyndebourne as Amor in L'incoronazione di Poppea, she was asked to join the Royal Shakespeare Company where she created the role of Cosette in Les Misérables.
Over the years she performed in many musicals and Operas including: Salad Days, The Sound of Music, The Magic Flute, Lulu, Cosi Fan Tutte, Rigoletto, Carmen, La Boheme, Faust and Le Nozze de Figaro.
Rebecca performed the role of Margaret Johnson in The Light in the Piazza at Central City Opera in Colorado in 2022 and premiered the role of Magda in Propaganda: A New Musical at the Lyric Theatre as part of the 2022 Belfast International Arts Festival.

A type of opera visitor I have the feeling has multiplied in recent times is the Scandalised Grandpa.
Every performance I've been to in recent times has had at least one man north of 60 making his dislike of even gentle, theatrical suggestions of sex or intimacy (think e. g. two extras wriggling a bedsheet spread out between them that shields the leading couple from view) between the characters known to other visitors.
My brother in Bach, when you're going to see Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea or Händel's Semele (which, granted, is an oratorio but it's frequently staged as a fully-fledged opera), you could have told from the plot (mistress on her quest to become empress of Rome and mortal lady enthusiastically consenting to Jupiter's advances to the point that she's pregnant with his son, Bacchus) that there would be some sort of erotic component.
Shout out in particular to the 'gent' in the row behind me on Tuesday who couldn't wait until the break to complain and had to grunt or gasp every time Jupiter and Semele (or, in this production, the very erotically frustrated Juno) got up to anything, fully clothed, and while singing.

Last song I listened to: i’ve been listening to a 4+hr playlist of hurdy gurdy tunes played by andrey vinogradov throughout the day, so probably something of his.. i’m having a Big Monteverdi moment as well…
Currently reading: have only just finished the wolf den by elodie harper i’ve absentmindedly nabbed in the local library, one more for the pile of ‘perfectly serviceable but didn’t blew my socks off’ reading experiences; but more importantly very close to finishing the goldfinch, despite dragging my feet trying to prolong the process, cause i’ve been enjoying it’s style and emotional core (miserable bastard fuckery) greatly.. and next on my tbr is a place of greater safety — save me hilary mantel. hilary mantel save me.
Last watched: ummm i guess winter days (2003) and i believe i’ve managed to catch a half of 1st episode of shōgun a few days back.. i’m still trying to find balance between studying, reading and watching stuff in my free time..
