What’s Kyle forever?
Tw death, opioids.
Kyle Pavone was the lead singer (cleans) of We Came As Romans. He passed away in August 2018, at 28 years old from an accidental overdose.
He was a beloved, talented artist, a funny and passionate guy. I had the chance to interview back in the days and i credit this interview to my love of the band.
After his death, his bandmates and family created the Kyle Pavone foundation to educate on opioids and the how to react in cases of overdoses.
‘Kyle forever’ became sort a rallying cry for fans and the band🖤

We Came As Romans - Darkbloom Michigan metalcore band We Came As Romans is a band that I’ve never been the biggest fan of, although I do enjoy their first EP, and their first album, but they’re one of those bigger metalcore bands that I’ve never gotten into. I don’t know why, either. It could be that their sound is just too bland for my tastes, or that their brand of metalcore just didn’t work for me, but either way, founding member and vocalist Kyle Pavone passing away four years ago sent a shockwave through the metalcore scene, especially from passing away due to an accidental overdose. It was tough for the band, but they’ve managed to persevere through it, and now, we’ve got their first album without him, entitled Darkbloom. I listened to the singles before this album came out, and I surprisingly liked what I’ve heard, but I hadn’t listened to this band in so long, I wasn’t sure what the whole album would be like. Now that it’s out, I’ve spent a few days with it, and honestly, folks, it’s fine. This album, like a few others I’ve talked recently, is really tricky to pin down, because on the surface, it’s a good album and has some good things going for it, but at the same time, it’s kind of bland, uninspired, and boring. This is a band that I’ve never been crazy about in the first place, but even then, I wanted to see if their new album would change my mind about them, at least this specific album, but it doesn’t, really. Let me get one thing straight -- the lyrics on this album are really good, and the album’s focus seems to be remembering Kyle, versus anything else. A lot of the songs are a very touching tribute to the late vocalist, and it’s great for that, especially if you were a huge fan of these guys. I can see why this album would have a lot of weight to you, but it doesn’t hold that much weight for me, considering I was never much of a fan. It’s still sad, but I’m just looking at this album on its own, and if you removed the lyrics from it, which hold a lot of weight, it’s still just a generic metalcore album with some electronics and hard-rock elements thrown in. The album gets really heavy in a few spots, such as “Doublespeak,” but the record never does much with its metalcore sound. Instead it sticks to hard-rock and post-hardcore, which is fine, but the clean vocals aren’t that great, unfortunately, so I’m not crazy about the hooks here. The instrumentation is just really bland, and I’m not that engaged by anything at all, so I have no desire to go back to it. This is just a generic metalcore album at its core, for better or worse. The singles are fine, and the album is short at only 37 minutes, but it’s not that interesting. If you’re a fan, I think you’ll like this a lot, but this band has never done much for me, and unfortunately, Darkbloom doesn’t do much to change my mind, either. I wish I liked it more, but it just doesn’t do a whole lot for me, so I’ve only wanted to get a few listens out of it, and that’s relatively it. Check it out if you like this band, or you want some decent metalcore to tide you over for whatever’s coming out this week.

I would lovd to know
1. Current hyperfixation
2. One artist you'd bring back from the dead
3. One fantasy/fictional world you'd want to live in
1. Taylor Swift’s album (I’m not even kidding, that shit is on repeat 24/7, it scratches my brain just right.)
2. I have a couple. Taylor Hawkins, Chester Bennington, Juice Wrld, Lil Peep, Eddie Van Halen, The Rev, Kyle Pavone, Mitch Lucker and Ronnie James Dio. I refuse to pick less than this list :)
3. Lord of The Rings, duh. Middle-Earth.

La Reserve Links Course Designer Oosthuizen Seeks Winning Start At Mauritius Open
Tumblr media
Former AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open: Louis Oosthuizen, one of the leading contenders at the 2023 Mauritius Open, will also be looking forward to a winning start at the La Réserve Golf Links course, which he co-designed with Peter Matkovich. The 15-time DP World Tour winner, Oosthuizen, who is in great form, leads a very strong field at the La Réserve Golf Links course, which is staging its first pro event. Oosthuizen, the 2010 Open winner, ended his five-year winless run by beating fellow South African Charl Schwartzel, the Masters champion from 2011 in a Monday finish at the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek. Oosthuizen’s last win on the DP World Tour came at the South African Open in December 2018. The latest win was Oosthuizen’s 15th professional title worldwide. Oosthuizen, who has six runner-up finishes in Majors besides his win at the Open at St. Andrews in 2010, has 17 Top-5 and 28 Top-10 finishes in Majors. He has at least one runner-up finish in every Major and twice each at the PGA and US Open and is seen as a top performer in big events. “I’m really looking forward to this week. My family travelled to Mauritius before me and when I arrived here we had a few cocktails to celebrate my recent victory,” said Oosthuizen, at the official press conference of the event. Oosthuizen, a legend in South African golf, heads a very strong field of Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour golfers for this year’s fiesta in Mauritius. The field also includes Antoine Rozner, who will defend the title he won last year and Marcel Siem, the five-time DP World Tour champion and Heritage Golf Club ambassador. Siem, who also won the Hero Indian Open in 2023, is also in the field, as is the French star and recent DP World Tour champion Matthieu Pavon, the charismatic Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston who is making his return from injury. Former AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open champion Dylan Frittelli. Rising Sunshine Tour stars such as Luca Filippi, Kyle Barker, Rupert Kaminski, Robin Williams, Jayden Schaper, Casey Jarvis and Ryan van Velzen who have all been challenging for their maiden victories in Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour co-sanctioned tournaments this summer, will tee off in the hope of an early take-off for the 2023-2024 season on the DP World Tour. WE CAME AS ROMANS - Darkbloom (2022)
WE CAME AS ROMANS - Darkbloom (2022) - https://metalindex.hu/2022/11/03/we-came-as-romans-darkbloom-2022/ -
Tumblr media

Comment?: I've been following WCAR since 2008, way before their debut album. In fact, their debut was one of the first few albums I ever bought with my own money. I grew up with this band for more than a 3rd of my life at this point. When I heard about Kyle Pavone passing, it hurt. A lot. So finally hearing some of these songs, it really tugs at my heart. This is probably one of the only times I ever cried listening to an album because of what these songs and this band means to me. RIP Kyle Pavone. You will forever be missed.
