The familiar themes and big dramatic tensions are taken and played beautifully in black and…

Hello 👋🏻 If it’s ok to ask, I saw your post on Paulina from masters of the air and I was wondering what your thoughts were on Kasia from world on fire? Do you think she’s a better portrayal of a Slavic woman (especially a ww2 polish woman)? I always thought she was a pretty good character (even if I never understood what she saw in Harry 😅). But I’d love to hear your opinion!
Hello, darling! ❤️ So, first of all, I still haven't seen Season 2 of World on Fire 😂 Basically, keep in mind that my opinion is based purely on Season 1.
I genuinely like World on Fire's representation of Polish people from what I've seen so far in Season 1. I like that we got to know a whole family (mum and dad were played by good and famous Polish actors as well which was nice) and there was en emotional connection to their struggles. The scene where Kasia cleans the blood off of the floor after her mum was shot and then she sleeps cuddling her dead body will forever stay with me, I get chills every time I think of it, it was so powerful, especially that Agata Kulesza (the mum) looks a bit like my own mum. I could easily see myself in the same situation if I happened to live during World War Two. And that was terrifying.
Kasia was portrayed as a working woman, woman in love, woman taking care of her family, woman joining the underground fight. I'm not saying every girl in Poland was like that because of course not but tv shows are rarely about ordinary people anyway. She was a complex character with depth and personality.
Of course I don't expect the same thing from an extra that showed up in Masters of The Air for five minutes. As I said, Paulina was great (thanks for reminding me of her name haha) but I just wish she wasn't just another sexually loose Slavic woman. She was kind of like a mysterious, exotic adventure with her big sad eyes, vodka drinking abilities and tragic life philosophy. It's sexy 😂 but I'd like us to be treated more seriously, if you get me. I think Kasia was treated seriously.
