Old fans will remember that I'm a huge sucker for a good ol nasty and sleazy neighbour au...How about something like the sleazy neighbour CoD au but now with RE men?♡

♡ 'Honorably' discharged ex-major Jack Krauser after he sustained a wound to his arm that permanently eliminated him from any further military career and even if not...He wouldn't pass his psych eval test anyway with how damaged the old soldier is. Now he's left with basically nothing but a miserable veteran's pension, a dingy little apartment in some dilapitating building and his building resentment and hate.

♡ Leon S. Kennedy, the 'pretty boy' of the local precinct with a heart as black and wicked as tar. While he started out promising as a aspiring and bushy tailed rookie, it quickly took a sharp turn for the worst possible way. Raccoon City quickly corrupted him and soon bribes, blackmailing and cowing others became bread and butter for him, his favorite targets being pretty doe eyes things.

♡ Albert Wesker, the director of the local hospital who has a...less than bad reputation. In fact bad is a gross understatement. There are many rumours circulating around him, starting from killing the previous director and his patriarch, Dr. Ozwald E. Spencer, in order to gain more influence and take over the 'family business' up to whispers about human trafficking and experimenting on them. Bribing, threatening, intimidating and nepotism is like second nature to him and Wekser doesn't even bat an eye at them anymore, but maybe it's his uncanny and unfeeling attitude that helps him sleep at night...

Ashley is special because she is the only one at the moment who was able to awaken the real Leon, which he hid for 6 years. Her emotional support, care, and attempts to help — all this plays a big role in his development. She is a symbol of hope for Leon; that even in the darkest situations there are people you can rely on, who will not abandon you to save themselves, who will help you, who are not so selfish as to put all the difficulties on you, and whom you can trust as if this is the closest person in your life; and he felt this only next to her. She is his ally in the fight. Despite her vulnerability, she also demonstrates strength and determination. She does not demand more from him because he is here to save her, and this is his job, but on the contrary, she actively takes part in events that show Leon that there are people in the world similar to himself, because he is absolutely not selfish, and even in the most difficult circumstances, you can show perseverance. He sees in her a person who is capable of more; this inspires him and encourages him to overcome psychological barriers.

That is a very sweet way to look at it, anon! It is a beautiful thing, how much change a simple human connection can bring. I love it when people talk about their relationship in such a wholesome manner.

The only thing I'd add from myself is that, while Ashley is the one that prompted for Leon to believe in the strength of his humanity, it's his different relationships with every character involved that complete his character journey. Ashley is an undeniably irreplaceable piece of that - she's in the center of it all for a reason, after all - but every single piece surrounding that is just as important.

But I'm getting way too deep here again so I'll leave it at that lmao
