Some of my favourite characters in skyrim, and why 👹
Balgruuf The Greater: i think this speaks for itself tbh, my favourite Jarl
Balimund: I don't actually know, kinda just looked at him and said "yes, he's the one." Or at least one of them anyway lmfao
Brynjolf: cocky thief with a *small amount* of issues, need i say more?
Captain Aldis: Self Explanatory. he's pretty, good personality, wants books, and lots of muscle? Yes please
Captain Gjalund Salt-Sage: idk he just smiled at my character once and it did things LMFAOOO
Captain Lonely-Gale: Father? Sorry, Father? Sorry-
Falk Firebeard: Steward whos probably a borderline alcoholic? Possibly involved in scandals? Pretty? Yes please
Glover Mallory: no.1 Smith, thief gone good, first I've found to sell Daedric stuff, what more can you want?
Halbarn Iron-Fur: personality is on point, easily lovable, one of my favourite smiths along side Glover
Idolaf Battle-Born: Dilf with an attitude, fuck yeah
Igmund: As with Balimund, I'm not even sure
Korir: if Siddgeir and Balgruuf had a child, he's them. Personality wise anyway, bit of a wanker tho
Kraldar: idk he's just there and he's sweet
Roggi Knot-Beard: Our favourite alcoholic, lovable character, ray of sunshine.
Rune: He's baby. Todd let me help him find out who his parents are i beg
Torbjorn Shatter-Shield: Dilf, I feel so bad tho oh my god, I killed Nilsine in Muiri's quest... never again. I don't need the bonus.
Ulfric Stormcloak: I can fix him

Best Jarl Tournament: Round 1

The two Jarls of Winterhold... and the one Jarl of Solitude. Since there is no alternative to Elisif, there's an uneven number of Jarls, so she's going against Korir and Kraldar! There can only be one winner of these three, so choose wisely.

🌨️ 💔 for Lusine and Elyse
Ahhhh thank you Kuri <3
Lusine
🌨️ - If this oc had a day free from all their responsibilities, how would they spend it?
Lusine would be restless. She'd feel as though she needs to do something, to be productive, to achieve something. This is something that was unfortunately instilled in her mind from her time in Honorhall, and even after running away was unable to fully shake off (by the Divines, if Kodlak knew that he had a daughter and that she was stuck in that orphanage I'm certain he would have gotten her away from Grelod asap and taken her home to Jorrvaskr ;-;)
If this is the point where she is harbinger of the Companions herself, Tilma would give her a telling off when she catches her attempting to help with tidying. Others would tell her to stop messing and rearranging the weapons. Sometimes people would give her suggestions of more relaxing things to do, but it wouldn't help her much, for example, reading - she struggles greatly with reading as she didn't exactly learn how to do so and needs help when reading paperwork she has to do, and reading for fun simply does not appeal to her.
It would take Farkas persuading her that relaxing would make him happy that she will eventually stop milling around. They would cuddle a lot, or maybe together they will go on a walk around Whiterun and its outskirts. Eventually though she will get introduced to some creative hobbies, and she turns out to greatly enjoy the likes of whittling - and she gets to feel happy as she gets something out of it in the end, and she can sink any downtime into it.
💔 - Does forgiveness come easily or with difficulty to this oc? Can they forgive others? What about themselves?
Lusine tries to do her best to be forgiving. She likes to try and be kind, because she has experienced and is fed up of cruelty in her life. There is one exception to this though, and that is werewolf hunters. The Silver Hand. They killed her mother when she was a baby. They killed her father when she not long reunited with him. They stole her childhood, because they hated what she was, what her blood meant. She will utterly destroy any werewolf hunter she encounters, and they will be spared no second thought.
As for herself though... She struggles to forgive herself, at times. But she is so used to focusing on the here and now, the thought of forgiving herself is quickly lost as soon as she has anything else to think about instead.
Elyse
🌨️ - If this oc had a day free from all their responsibilities, how would they spend it?
Elyse would likely try to find a way to unwind, though that would come after sleeping in - she'd likely be waking up late morning or early afternoon (or if she wakes up early, lying in bed for hours and maybe attempting to persuade Balgruuf to spend time with her too - if he has the chance, he'll oblige).
Unlike Lusine, she would try to find a good novel which she can get engrossed in, or she would tend to her flowers that she has scattered across Dragonsreach, or find a nice peaceful spot to sit and bask in if the weather permits. If it's warm enough, she will go to one of the streams outside Whiterun and so long as she doesn't see any slaughterfish or mudcrabs, she will dip her feet into the water.
Her day will 100% end with drinks and a meal at the Bannered Mare, ideally with Balgruuf but otherwise with Lydia or Carlotta.
💔 - Does forgiveness come easily or with difficulty to this oc? Can they forgive others? What about themselves?
Elyse can hold grudges, and not want to forgive, not if she has been wronged in any way *cough* half the damn jarls in skyrim *cough* . If she feels that someone has done something worthy of her forgiveness, and not some sort of act, then she will consider it, which is what happened after her big argument with Balgruuf over him making decisions on her behalf - he explained his reasoning and apologised, and she forgave because she could tell he meant not to hurt her.
She doesn't forgive herself easily either, instead she will dwell and dwell and dwell.
#meg is rambling#dragonborn oc elyse#dragonborn oc lusine#the context for the half the jarls thing is. well. obvious for ulfric. siddgeir insulted her in their one and only meeting#and the two of them have been on awkward footing since. maven tried blackmailing her. and korir. well. he's her asshole uncle.

Today on I Like Skyrim Characters Who Suck: Korir is a terrible jarl of the crappiest hold and I love him for that. Not unlike cosnach he just sucks so much. Every day he walks across the street to get a beer and then walks back and sits in his empty house. He stubs his toe and blames rhe mages. 10/10 wouldn’t change a thing

For the Meme, how about. . . .Jarl Korir of Winterhold?
First Impression: I thought he certainly had a very fancy chair for a guy ruling over a population that is only slightly larger than Riverwood's.
Impression Now: It...hasn't really changed. If you listen to his and Thaena's dialogue with other residents it becomes clear that despite the title of "Jarl" and getting to sit in the big fancy chair, he doesn't actually have much power in Winterhold. All he can do is gripe about Dagur making money renting rooms to people visiting the college. Thaena and Birna snipe at each other, and in one of these conversations Thaena says "Trying to keep from freezing to death, trying to keep food on the table." This makes me think that being Jarl of Winterhold only really has any sort of power when it comes to going to Moots - that is, power outside of Winterhold. Inside of it, there's really nothing.
Favorite Moment: This conversation... Korir: "Looks to be another cold day." Thaena: "Aren't they all?" Korir: "Not like this. Feels colder than usual. Bet it's those damned Mages." ...just sums everything up about Korir. If it snows (IN A PLACE CALLED WINTERHOLD) it's gotta be those rascally mages!
Idea for a Story: Since Korir moves into Brunwulf Free-Winter's house instead of the Palace of Kings if the Empire wins the civil war, I figure they MUST have some connection. I would love to see a story exploring that, and how they navigate their relationship with Korir being even more bitter but relying on an Empire-backed friend's generosity.
Unpopular Opinion: Despite how cartoonishly paranoid Jarl Korir seems about the mages...I think he's right about the College of Winterhold. Not completely right - the mages are obviously too disorganized and plotting against each other (academia is the same everywhere) to actively plot against Winterhold, or Korir personally, but really the College has a SHOCKING body count. Magic entities escape and wreak havoc in town, the college is hosting Thalmor, they go grave-robbing and bring back obviously dangerous artifacts (I can just imagine the hullaballoo marching the Eye of Magnus through town caused), entire cohorts of students just disappear...some wander off, some die horribly summoning the most blood-thirsty daedric pirate Tamriel has ever known and others turn themselves into giant balls of pure energy. And they've never fixed that bridge. The college, at this point, is an attractive nuisance at best, and a death trap for talented youth of Skyrim at worst.
Favorite Relationship: We never see them interact, but I just love that his court wizard, Malur Seloth, is a totally lazy scam artist collecting a paycheck to not be a mage. We stan a quiet quitting king and his oblivious boss.
Favorite Headcanon: These go with my unpopular opinion, that Jarl Korir is correct about the college - I think the Augur of Dunlain was responsible for the Great Collapse. The collapse occurred in 4E 22, 69 (nice) years before the events of Skyrim. Tolfdir and Colette will say that an experiment went wrong, and that it happened before their time. I think the magical forces required to turn someone into a ball of purse consciousness and energy would be enough to cause some landslides and once-in-a-century storms.

Also while I'm here, why does Skyrim's #1 magic hater have this staff and a bunch of soul gems in his bedroom?

Jarl Korir: *hates mages, hate magic, hates the college, stubs his toe and blames a wizard for it* also Jarl Korir, speaking to the new Arch-Mage: yeah you can totally be a Thane if ya want, here's a cool new sword. you're my bestie now. *turning back to his wife* Now where was I... oh yeah, I can't believe we still have a wizard staying in the local inn! it's outrageous!
#Jarl Korir deeply confuses me on so many levels#I can;t decide if I love him or hate him#he's so cartoonishly mean and inconsistent. I'm obsessed
