Manini Beach, Hawaii: A Hidden Gem
Let's say you're searching for a stunning, quiet beach in south Kona. If so, you might want to go to Manini Beach, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the monument across the water and the Kealakekua Mountains. Without the throngs of tour boats and kayakers at the memorial, this is the perfect spot to take in Kealakekua Bay's natural splendor.
Why is it called Manini Beach?
The name "Manini" comes from the Hawaiian word "mānini," which refers to a type of small fish found in the area. This name is fitting for a beach known for its vibrant marine life and excellent snorkeling opportunities.
Manini Beach Location
Manini Beach is located on the Big Island of Hawaii, specifically in the Keauhou-Kona area. It's a relatively secluded beach, nestled between the popular Keauhou Bay and the historic Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park.
What To Expect at Manini Beach
Manini Beach offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making it a great escape from the bustling tourist areas. Here's what you can expect:
Crystal-clear waters: The water at Manini Beach is typically calm and clear, providing excellent visibility for snorkeling and swimming.
Abundant marine life: The waters around Manini Beach are teeming with colorful fish, sea turtles, and other marine creatures.
Sandy shores: The beach features soft, sandy shores, perfect for sunbathing and relaxing.
Limited amenities: Manini Beach is a relatively undeveloped area, so don't expect to find many amenities like restrooms or food vendors.
Where Can I Stay at Manini Beach?
While there are no hotels directly on Manini Beach, there are several nearby accommodations options:
Keauhou Beach Resort: This luxury resort offers a variety of accommodations, including rooms, suites, and villas. It features multiple pools, restaurants, and a spa.
Keauhou Vacation Rentals: If you prefer a more private and affordable option, consider renting a vacation home or condo in the Keauhou area.
Camping: For a truly immersive experience, you can camp at the nearby Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park.

Red Dirt Waterfall
Here are some specific recommendations, based on your needs:
Couples looking for a romantic getaway: Consider staying at the Keauhou Beach Resort and enjoying its luxurious amenities.
Families on a budget: Renting a vacation home or condo in the Keauhou area can be a more affordable option.
Adventurers seeking a unique experience: Camping at Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park allows you to connect with nature and explore the area's rich history.
What is the best time to visit Manini Beach?
The best time to visit Manini Beach depends on your interests:
For whale watching: Visit between December and April, when humpback whales migrate to Hawaiian waters.
For snorkeling: The waters are typically calm and clear year-round, but the winter months (December to February) can be slightly cooler.
For whale watching and snorkeling:
Consider visiting during the winter months (December to April) when you can enjoy both whale watching and snorkeling. The nearby Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park is also a great place to explore during this time.
Tips for Visiting Manini Beach:
Pack plenty of sunscreen, water, and snacks, as there are limited amenities on the beach.
Wear reef-safe sunscreen to protect the marine life.
Bring a snorkeling mask and fins to explore the underwater world.
Respect the local culture and environment.
Be prepared for potential crowds during peak season.
Manini Beach offers a unique and unforgettable experience for visitors to the Big Island of Hawaii. Whether you're seeking relaxation, adventure, or a connection with nature, this hidden gem has something to offer everyone. Continue Reading

Slow Down and Recenter with an Escape to Tuscany
Sometimes, you need a break from the ordinary. You want to step back from your fast-paced lifestyle. You want to run off to a destination an ocean away where time seems to move a little slower—a place where you can recenter yourself.
How about Tuscany? This region of central Italy is known for its exquisite cuisine, breathtaking vistas, and slower pace of life. You can get swept up in relaxation at luxury villa vacation rentals nestled among the vineyards and olive tree groves.
Plus, you can enjoy all kinds of luxury amenities and enchanting experiences that bring you back down to earth and help you feel rejuvenated.
Take a Step Back in Time at a 16th Century Farmhouse
What better way to put your fast-paced lifestyle behind—if only for a short while—than spending time at a thoroughly renovated 16th-century farmhouse? Tuscany is a quintessential part of the old world, and many of the luxury vacation house rentals in the region embrace this.
A restored farmhouse with luxury accommodations treats history with reverence. It’s like stepping back in time to the Renaissance era while still having access to many of the amenities you know and love.
However, these modern amenities are woven into the luxurious space with authentic rustic touches. From wood-burning pizza ovens to fresh eggs brought in from the property to wine-tasting rooms, you don’t have to compromise on any part of your Tuscan experience.
Wander Through the Historic Vineyards
Tuscany is home to a number of vineyards that date back centuries. The region is known for its many wine varieties, which are renowned throughout the world. As part of your Tuscan getaway, you can wander these historic vineyards.
You can even enjoy a quiet guided tour of a vineyard and take in the rich history and breathtaking views. At the same time, you can learn more about how the winemaker approaches their craft.
Of course, what better way to unwind and recenter than with a wine tasting right at one of Tuscany’s renowned vineyards? Step into a wine library and feel transported back in time to enjoy historic wine firsthand—all while you sample more recent vintages!
Add a Thrill to Your Tuscan Experience
While you find a slower pace of life among the rolling hills of Tuscany, you don’t necessarily have to shy away from a few thrills. With your worries behind you, you might enjoy the thrill of a Tuscan tour behind the wheel of a vintage Fiat 500.
What better way to see the Italian countryside than from a historic Italian automobile? You can feel the curve of every gentle corner as you navigate from one valley to the next. With the windows down, you can immerse yourself in the sights and sounds that define the region.
These sights may include long-standing Chianti-region castles and villas, old olive tree groves, and maybe even Mona Lisa’s home. Hear the growl of the vintage Fiat 500 engine or pull off for a scenic view where you can take in the sounds of everyday Tuscan life.

🏝️ISLAND HOPPING TIPS N’ TRICKS
Plan ahead
I know its obvious, but a lot of people mistakenly island hop on a limb which may lead to some major hiccups later in the trip. There is a lot of aspects to think of before island hopping such as weather, transportation, accommodations, activities, budgeting packing, etc. Make sure to carefully take your time planning the trip from start to finish to allow you not to worry during your vacation.
Book your flights early
Another common tip of travel, buying your inter-island plane tickets far in advance can save a lot of money on airfares. Planning a couple months ahead of time is ideal. Hawaiian Airlines is a great to start when finding the cheapest flight.
Plan According to Island
Make sure to do your research on the islands you're visiting before going because every island offers something unique. Maui and Oahu, known for their white sandy beaches, differ from the Big Island, which is known for its volcanic exploration. They all differ in ways, and by knowing what each island offers, you can plan accordingly.
Stay for Awhile
Having one or two days to get to explore each of the islands may give a skewed perception on the island. Some activities can take up a full day, like hikes, or beach days, and may not allow enough time to engage in the culture and historical side of the island. Try to spend more than two days at each island, allowing you to get the most out of each stop.
Kona, HI
Pack Light
Try to skip baggage fees, by packing a hand carry that will last you the whole trip. The fees for baggage will begin to stack because of the multiple flights needed to island hop. For most airlines you are allowed a hand carry and a personal item, so do the most with what you got.
Be smart with Rental Cars
Rental cars can be the priciest part of island hopping if you are not smart, but some companies offer good deals. One company called Discount Hawaii Car Rental is recommended by lovebigisland.com because it has no advanced payments, no cancelation fees, and reduced rates for young drivers.

Is Renting an E-Bike the Right Choice For Kona Exploration?
If you are keen on exploring beautiful islands in your upcoming vacation then Kona in Hawaii is the place for you. Located on the west coast of Hawaii island, the town of Kona is a perfect paradise for people looking for a luxurious beach holiday along with exploring the varied landscapes & enchanting scenery of the place.
Well, due to environmental considerations, the tourists visiting Kona are encouraged to rent out e-bikes to explore the beautiful locations. Here in this article, we will discuss the benefits of renting out e-bikes when visiting Kona, Hawaii.
Minimize Environmental Impact
Cost-Effective Mobility Solutions
Explore With Ease
All-Inclusive Ride
Minimize Environmental Impact
The biggest reason behind tourists being encouraged to rent out e-bikes from various e-bike rental facilities in Kona is to reduce the damaging effect that we as humans have on the environment. Now, electric bikes come with zero emissions and this is considered an advantage in these tourist hot spots as it significantly reduces the emission levels.
Places like Kona have very fragile ecosystems and there are various reports by leading researchers that claim if the environmental pollution levels are not reduced then the rising sea levels due to climate change would submerge islands like Hawaii and that is why a lot of importance is being given to the use of electric bikes in these places.
Moreover, with vehicular emissions contributing a significant amount of harmful pollutants to the environment and reducing the air quality in many places, the best way to prevent this type of catastrophic problem is by resorting to a sustainable way of living and that is why using e-bikes in places like Kona that have a wonderful & clean environment becomes a lot more important.
Cost-Effective Mobility Solutions
Now, visiting Kona is certainly a bit expensive tour and people often look for ways to minimize their expenses and this is where renting an e-bike is going to fulfill your purpose. When you are opting for a non-electric mode of transportation then you have to cover the cost of fuel & maintenance which makes it a costly ride.
However, with an electric bike you don’t have to worry about fuel and the cost involved in maintaining these e-bikes is also very low which means you can adjust everything in your budget. Often people think that electric bikes are very slow & won’t be able to provide them with a faster ride.
Nevertheless, if you compare it with a traditional bike then the e-bikes are definitely faster because they have a motor that provides the bikes with the required momentum. This means you will definitely feel a lot easier to ride an e-bike compared to a traditional cycle.
The more you pedal the more charge the battery accumulates and this makes it easy for you to just sit while the motor does its work. While some tourists become apprehensive about the load-carrying capacity of e-bikes, you need not worry about it because electric bikes are very capable of carrying all these loads.
Explore With Ease
Whenever you visit Hawaii and that too a place like Kona, you will be awe-struck by the beauty of the place. From the mesmerizing beaches to the coffee farms and turtles, Kona never disappoints its visitors and you will love to spend your time over here and exploring the charismatic places on an e-bike.
Besides that as the e-bike comes equipped with a motor, it will ensure that you are never exhausted even when you are negotiating an uphill climb. In addition to that, if you are interested in exploring the off-beat locations in Kona like visiting the volcanoes then the e-bikes are going to be of immense help as they can easily negotiate the off-road trails leading to the volcano.
All-Inclusive Ride
The best thing about opting for e-bikes is that, unlike other modes of transportation like cars and bikes that need one’s expertise to drive them, the e-bikes are very easy to ride and everyone can ride them without any prior experience making them convenient for your whole family.
Besides that, if there are young members in your group they will find the e-bike rides very charming and as these bikes don’t go over a certain speed limit they are considered safe for everyone.
Finally
The above-discussed factors are some of the advantages associated with e-bike rentals when you are visiting Kona for your holidays. As the place is always packed with tourists from across the world you need to be proactive in booking your tickets with your tour operator in advance lest you miss your preferred dates.

There are all kinds of experiences you can uncover in Hawaii. From sipping on Kona coffee to trekking to the highest point on the Big Island to see the stars, there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
But what if your family truly wants to experience Hawaii firsthand? Literally firsthand? Here are a few hands-on, immersive Hawaiian experiences that are perfect for getting the whole family involved in Hawaii’s magnificent culture and cuisine.
Prepare and Enjoy Your Own Sushi
You’ve never had sushi, sashimi, and tataki this fresh! When you and your family journey to the Hawaiian Islands and Cuvée’s beachside luxury vacation house rentals, one amenity you may have access to is a private chef.
Along with your private Cuvée chef, you also gain access to a spread of fresh ingredients, including seafood. Your chef will guide you through the sushi-making process. You’ll even pick your own ingredients and craft a sushi roll of your very own. Once you do, all that’s left is to enjoy it!
Handcraft Leis and Learn to Hula
Another hands-on way to experience the Hawaiian Islands is through the art of lei-making. Leis are a well-known Hawaiian tradition. By making leis, you and your family will learn more about this tradition and what goes into the art form.
You can even work with experienced lei artisans! They’ll bring along a selection of flowers, like plumeria and pikake. Watch the culture of the Islands come alive as you and your family get lost in the colors and aromas of the flowers.
Learn to Strum the Ukulele
You’ve experienced the flavors and colors of Hawaii. Now, experience the sounds of the Islands through the ukulele! The ukulele is often associated with Hawaiian art and music. Now, you and your family can learn to play this beloved instrument together.
And who knows, maybe after you learn to strum a melody, you’ll want to continue your ukulele experience after your Hawaiian getaway. Just like sushi-making and lei-making, it’s a skill you you’ll be able take back home with you.
Take to the Waves, Hawaiian Style
Finally, the Hawaiian Islands are known for their incredible beaches—and the waves of the Pacific. If you’ve ever wanted to try surfing or anyone in your family has expressed interest, Hawaii is the perfect place to learn.
For one, Hawaii is a premium destination for professional surfers. Connect with a pro surf instructor who will show you around the board and the waves. Learn all the surfing basics to ride a wave in confidence.
You may even find yourself building up to bigger waves throughout your time in Hawaii! This is another experience you’ll take with you—and bring back when you return. Your family may end up turning your inaugural surf lesson into a family tradition for years to come.
