QUICK FACTS:

dominic didn't grow up around racing. at least, not in the same way that he's racing now for a career. his family liked to go to the county fair every year and watch the dirt track races, or go to ponderosa to watch those races.

his younger sisters had no interest in racing. they competed in the fair pageants, with either cove or paloma typically taking home a crown. being identical twins, it often comes down to their talent and whether a judge leans toward plate spinning or singing as a favored skill. dominic is very proud of them both.

dominic races the european circuit and spends much of his time overseas. he comes home mainly for important family events, like cove's pageants, or when paloma had her son. birthdays and holidays are usually times he can find to come home, but when a race overlaps, the family often comes to see him.

he's had an on-again/off-again relationship with model analyn holmes for the majority of his career, so roughly six years. they're mostly off at this point, but occassionaly when they're in the same city, they get together. it's not really anything serious.

“W- what do you want?”

Knox hissed, baring his tiny fangs at the man towering over him. His head pounded behind his crimson red eyes. Having been ambushed and drugged by the man on the way home, the vampire jolted awake when his head had been dunked in ice water. He shifted around, finding himself bound to a wooden pole, the ropes and splints cutting into his soft, bruised skin. A groan escaped from his chapped lips. Blue, he needed to get back to his beloved. The vampire shivered achingly in the cold, his bare torso littered with vivid blacks and blues.

Gritting his teeth, the young vampire tried to put up a brave front, glaring straight into his captor’s gleeful eyes through his wet blonde fringe now plastered to his pale face. He spat on his captor’s face, “What. Do. You. Want?”

Anthony laughed, tossing the bucket aside as he lowered himself down. Pulling Knox’s hair up, the former cop leaned in close, chuckling beside the vampire’s ear.

“Revenge,” he whispered, rage seething through his words.

Revenge?

The vampire yanked himself away from Anthony’s grip, scowling. “You deserve to rot in ja- gahk-” His eyes widening as the man drove a fist into his fractured rib, hearing a clear snap. Knox screamed, pain sky rocketing up to his head, paralysing his body. Curling up as much as his restrained body would allow, the vampire languidly looked up, taking in uneven shallow breaths. A smile escaped his bleeding lips.

The former cop inhaled deeply, burning rage boiling in his cold eyes. His clenched fist slowly loosening as the adrenaline left his system. Smiling kindly again, Anthony tenderly pushed away Knox’s fringe, running his fingers through his hair. Cooing the vampire lovingly, the man’s words muffled by a ringing in his ears. His words practically dripping with honey; so sweet it was bitter and poisonous.

“Oh Blue, what will you do?”

New Horizons Status Report #21 (Day 12)

Session 1

The sakuras have started blooming now. Bunny Day is right around the corner, and Olaf has moved in

There's something just outside my house in the ground, so I dig it up thinking it's a fossil, but it's actually an earth egg! Looks like the hunt is on, boys! I get my stuff from the mailbox - a letter from the Bank of Nook confirming that interest is real, and my Nook Shopping stuff. I also shoot down an egg-coloured balloon containing a recipe for a Bunny Day lamp, a couple containing sky eggs and another containing a recipe for a Bunny Day wall. I accidentally shake down some more eggs from a sakura tree, and then head to the plaza

I meet Aurora there, and she says Jeremiah isn't feeling well. Thankfully I have medicine in storage, but before I grab it I give Aurora her windflower wreath and she gives me 936 Bells for it. Saharah is right outside Jeremiah's house, so I visit her quickly and get one of each rug and the wallpaper. I receive a simple small orange mat, a pink heart rug, a botanical rug and a mangrove wall

Jeremiah is seriously sick and sneezing everywhere, so I run back to my house to grab my doctor's mask and some medicine and head back over, catching a common bluebottle on the way. I give Jeremiah the medicine and he starts to feel better, so he gives me a whole chef's outfit as thanks

With Jeremiah on the right track, I donate the bluebottle to Blathers and head back to the plaza to talk to the weird, deformed bunny- dear God, he speaks in rhyme. His name is Zipper, and he tells me about Bunny Day, and assures me that he is definitely-100%-not in a costume. He tells me to find eggs all around the island and then bring them back to him, and he also gives me a recipe for a Bunny Day bed. He says that if I find and craft all the recipes, he'll give me a reward. Speaking of, at that very moment a balloon containing a recipe for a Bunny Day table floats by

While egg-hunting, I actually find some real fossils - a stego tail (new!), a diplo neck (which we already have), a pachysaurus skull (new!) and a mammoth torso (which means the Mammoth is complete!) - and catch a darner dragonfly and a locust. I also find a recipe from "Knox" (who tells me not to tell anyone) for a log dining table, and a recipe for a green grass skirt from Pinky

I visit Resident Services and Tom Nook is stressing out about Project K, but Isabelle and I reassure him that it'll all work out. I talk to him about the last step of the plan, which he says is... improving the image of the island! He says Isabelle is in charge of collating feedback, but before I talk to her, I pay 10,000 Bells to sell some land for a house. Isabelle talks to me about island evaluations, and we currently have 1 star out of five. Her suggestion is to get more residents, which sounds like a solid plan to me. I set aside some land on the southeast beach for the new house

In egg-related news, I shoot down a recipe for Bunny Day flooring and fencing, and enough sky eggs to come up with DIY recipes for a sky-egg shell, outfit and shoes. Boots runs up to me while I'm fishing for water eggs to talk about Project K, and give me... a ball. I also catch a Rajah Brooke's birdwing while gathering windflowers for more wreaths, and take a stroll through the bug wing of the museum

Session 2

I did some research, and Bell trees above 10,000 aren't guaranteed to produce three times what you put in, so that's a shit ton of money down the drain D:<

Jeremiah is fighting fit again, hooray! While looking for water eggs, Boots gives me a recipe he found for a Bunny Day crown! I shoot down a recipe for a Bunny Day wreath. I'm slowly converting my back room bedroom into a Bunny Day room, replacing furniture as I craft each recipe

I redeem a Nook Miles Ticket to try and find more resources on mystery islands. I find a recipe from "Chrissy" for a log garden lounge (which I already know), and discover that I can find islanders on mystery tours again! However, the villager I encounter on this tour is Claudia, whose design is cool but who I'm not a huge fan of, so I don't invite her. I collect resources from the island (including a gold nugget!) and gather enough eggs to come up with the recipes for the stone-egg and wood-egg looks. I made the Bunny Day wreath and crown, get stung by wasps >:/ and return home

When I return, Boots comes up to me and fucking sneezes on me, ew- Oh no wait it's just the Reaction. That doesn't make me feel any better, but at least I won't get sick. I get two more Nook Miles Ticket and strike out into the unknown

Second mystery tour takes me to a three-tiered island with a bunch of rocks at the top. I meet Mitzi at the top, and I invite her to my island because she's actually really cool. I gather the resources and head home

Back on Ryland, I sort my stuff and shoot down a recipe for a Bunny Day rug

Third mystery tour doesn't have a villager, I guess because I've sold our only open plot. I want to move some buildings around and sell some more land once the natural ramp is paid for and built, but for now I just gather resources, collect up enough eggs to get the water-egg and leaf-egg clothing recipes, make some Bunny Day items and go home to shoot at the sky

When I get home, I try to give Boots a spare Bunny Day lamp I made because I have way too many wood eggs, but he's too busy being itchy. So I hit him with my net and catch a flea. He gives me a spare worker's jacket in exchange for the lamp

Session 3

I visit the Able Sisters and buy some random stuff, including a couple of jester's masks. I buy some mysterious flooring from Saharah and turn the floor into lava. Then I invite a friend over for a bit. After he leaves, he sends me a letter with a doctor's mask and I get a rubber apron from Paula, who suggests pranking Boots with it if I don't like it. Then I gather Nook Miles to buy one last Ticket, shooting down a recipe for a Bunny Day wall clock along the way and getting the recipe for the Bunny Day bag from Pinky

Our fourth and final mystery tour of the day lands us on another three-tiered island. I dig up enough earth-eggs to unlock the final egg outfits - the earth-egg ensemble and the Egg party hat and dress. However, since earth eggs are so hard to come across, I want to wait until I have plenty more before I make any more clothes. I do make something though - namely, the Bunny Day bag and rug - before I head home and go to bed

Friend mailed me a Prince's tunic, and I shot down recipes for a cherry-blossom umbrella, pond stone and clock, and the Bunny Day festive balloons and a stool

I wrote Olaf a welcome letter, and attached a cherry-blossom umbrella as a gift

"Knox, listen to mommy."

Her voice was tense, urgent. Cupping her child's soft cheeks, the older vampire ran her fingers down his hair, distracting him from the moment. Despite her reddening eyes and tears welling up, she smiled lovingly, "We're going to play a game alright?"

The child looked up at his mom, a hint of fear in his eyes, clearly afraid of the pounding at the door. They sounded so angry, shouting threats, threatening to kill them. In a tiny squeak, Knox nodded, "H- hide and seek," he suggested, his hand still clutching on tight to his mother's midnight blue skirt.

The banging at the door grew louder. The front door wasn't going to hold out any longer for more than a few minutes. Getting hold of what remaining time there was, Mrs Ryland pulled her young child close for a last embrace, apologising between sobs. She then released him, gently placing her precious flesh and blood into the closet.

"St- stay in here for me little fangs. I'll- I'll fetch you once this is over."

"P- promise?"

"On my blood."

A loud crash. The door.

Rushing out, the lady transformed, morphing into a creature of shadow, bringing terror to the eyes of men. Baring her fangs, she bit into their necks puncturing their arteries with great precision. Her eyes glowed a haunting crimson hue, claws emerging from the shadows, tearing the hunters apart.

Then in the darkness, a blade of the pale moon, struck, ripping into the shadow, stabbing the vampire's arm. She hissed, gradually feeling the burn, the creeping sizzling that followed along. Wrenching it out, she advanced in a hazy blur, thrusting the blade into a hunter's chest.

Still, this was just the beginning. In her conquest, she had failed to realise that this was a trap. Slipping in from the back, a group of men scaled the grey walls, heading for the bedroom.

Knox remained dead silent, tightly curled up as his little hands blocked his ears from the screams below. Rocking his little frame, the little one squeezed his eyes tight shut, tears staining his plush wolf close to his chest.

The window slipped open, black gloved hands starting to crawl in. Clasping his hands over his mouth, Knox held his breath, peeking through the gap running down in the middle of the closet. The uninvited guest, a hunter, armed and fierce looking stood before the old antique box.

His heart pounded, it's beating ringing clear as day in his ears.

Minutes passed and the hunter still stuck around, idling near the widow as they held on to the rope firmly, getting more of their brethren up before the best below noticed.

And in shear luck, the window slid down, crushing the hunter's fingers, earning a deep strangled howl followed by hushed cussing and clamouring. The shadow turned her attention towards her chambers sharply.

Knox.

Screeching, the wounded vampire abandoned her front, rushing up to her beloved as the hunters chased on tailing her, firing bullets at her back. Still it wasn't enough to stop her, in her pure rage, Mrs Ryland crashed in, breaking the door open. And without hesitation, she slammed the intruder against the glass panel, crushing his skull in the process.

But soon the tables turned. The hunters from the first floor. Catching up to the room, far more enraged than before, they swarmed the older vampire. Blocking her exits, they hunters circled as a vulture would with their prey.

She clenched her teeth, hissing. Her shadowy aura increasingly dark and bigger. The walls began to creak, cracks forming in the ceilings. She wasn't going to back down, not when danger lurked in the darkness waiting to steal her child away. Racing forward, vampire fought till she fell, tearing and mercilessly slaughtering the group while being riddled with silver.

Now laying in a pool of her own blood, the exhausted creature wheezed. The shadow seeping away, replaced with the faint sizzling of searing holes. She languidly eyed at the closet, her eyes, though glassy, still glowing in a deep shade of blood. It was quiet.

She had breathed her last.

And there was nothing more. Knox had sunk further, watching the horror unfold before him, wishing that this was all a dream. Watching his mother murdered in cold blood left the child hollow and empty. Trembling in the corner, Knox still remained mute, his chest hardly raising and deflating with each breath.

Don't move.

The hunters left, taking his mother away.

Don't move.

The house was empty and broken. It's warmth stolen away, now bearing only an orphaned child, traumatised and crying himself to sleep.

Don't move.
