Today is a pretty massive post, though it is only two events.

24 years ago, 17 year old Ulises was moved from Barcelona Zoo in Spain to SeaWorld San Diego. He had outgrown his pool and was sent on a breeding loan to SeaWorld, which only had one breeding bull at the time (Tilikum), and needed one in San Diego.

He was given a huge send-off in Spain, as he was very beloved by the crowds there. Ulises learned bottlenose dolphin vocalizations during his 14 years in Spain.

On the same day in 1997, 21 years ago, five killer whales were captured in Hatajiri Bay in Japan.

They were two juvenile females named Asuka (pronounced with a silent u?) and Ku, two juvenile males, one named Kyu (pronounced roughly like “Kjuu”) and one that remained unnamed, and one adult female, also unnamed.

The two unnamed whales moved with Kyu to Nanki Shirahama Adventure World (or Wakayama Adventure World), and the two died four months later from unreported causes, only two days from each other.

Kyu (bottom row, left) wasn't left alone though, as Adventure World already had teenage Japanese male Goro, and adult Icelandic females Ruka and Ran.

Asuka meanwhile (last photo) spent one month at Taiji Whale Museum before moving on to Izu-Mito Seaparadise, where she joined Icelandic Tanouk (then known as Yamato).

Ku also went to Taiji Whale Museum, where Nami had already lived for twelve years, but Nami didn’t like other whales and the two were kept apart. The second row from the bottom shows Ku in the company of dolphins at Taiji Whale Museum.

Luis Da Silva serves up a new, enticing house number on a silver platter as part of CastNowski‘s massive remix pack for “Five Star Dish,” out now via Ghetto Ghetto.

Taking a minimalistic approach, Luis feeds off the original by CastNowski featuring Blak Trash. That is, until he drops it down into his own thrilling arrangement that steals the show. This take on “Five Star Dish” packs the punch with an aggressive kick, screaming synths, and vocal chops that accentuate the mix in all the right spots.

Luis first captured our attention with his 4-track Night Etiquette EP. The previously released collection acted as an expression of his artistry, as well as an appreciation for other great artists. Here, he does it again, reworking CastNowski’s “Five Star Dish” into a high-energy heater that does the original some real justice.
