I know there's kinda a gap there in the middle but I care very little for whatever Isagi's got going on okay,, it's the secondary and tertiary characters that I care about you know.

This is a Naruto OC I created named Ren! A loyal friend to (and hopelessly in love with) Rock Lee.
I was hesitant to share this because in my experience, OC’s get a lot of flak, but I really enjoyed drawing these and have enjoyed watching Naruto again with my fiancee.
Under the cut I’ll have more information about her if anyone’s interested ^_^
OC Info!
Name: Kiyora Ren (Ren Kiyora)
Age: Part I - 14/15, Part II - 17/18
Birthday: March 12th
Star Sign: Pisces
Hobbies: Playing/practicing music, singing, cooking, and training with friends.
Favorite Foods: Vegetable tempura, gyoza, chicken katsu, curry and rice
Least Favorite Foods: Sweet potatoes, though there’s not much her stomach’s not up for!
Affiliation: Konohagakure (Hidden Leaf Village), previously: the outskirts of Otogakure (Hidden Sound Village).
Family: Mother, Aunt, Tayuya (Cousin) [ I haven’t yet created/thought of names for her mother and aunt.😅 ]
Backstory: Ren was born and raised on the borders of what became the Village Hidden in the Sound. She is an only child to a stern kunoichi mother who became devoted to the ideals of Orochimaru after her “weak-willed” father left them when she was an infant. Ren’s mother, aunt (another more level-headed kunoichi whose husband was KIA), and cousin (Tayuya, future member of the Sound Village 4/5) all lived under the same roof, clashing over their world views and values as time went on. Ren’s mother often mentored/tutored Tayuya rather than Ren, believing Ren to be without conviction, lacking talent with her jutsu, and always falling behin or being “spineless like her father.” Because of this, Ren’s mother and Tayuya were often together while Ren’s aunt raised Ren under a kinder, more compassionate wing. A cycle of envy and inspiration was always present among their family. Ren truly wanted to be friends with her cousin, wanted to gain the approval of her mother, and wanted harmony among the members of the household, but it never came to fruition. Eventually, Ren’s mother and Tayuya left to join Orochimaru’s cause. Ren and her heartbroken aunt then became refugees seeking sanctuary within the walls of the Hidden Leaf rather than stick around and become thralls to Orochimaru and his ever-spreading influence. The Third Hokage gave them the chance to start anew in their village. Ren’s aunt, with Ren’s pestering and the Third’s approval, reluctantly allowed Ren to enter the ninja academy. She graduated a year ahead of Lee’s group and two years ahead of the other genin. Despite her developing capabilities, Ren’s aunt remained highly protective of her, asking Ren to keep herself on a low profile, remain out of a 3-man squad, and off as many missions as possible, even though she wasn’t allowed any high rank missions with only being a genin. After Orochimaru’s attempt to destroy the leaf lead to the death of Lord Third, growing suspicions of their allegiance pushed them to lead lives akin to that of recluses. Later, the news of Tayuya’s death and her part in Sasuke’s abandonment of the village makes Ren’s aunt all the more protective of her. The remaining unknown whereabouts of Ren’s mother also make them both uneasy. With what little freedom she had, Ren resorted to learning more recipes for home cooking, taking small walks, and practicing instruments in her free time. Unfortunately, Ren’s aunt, being a lover of less-energetic music than Ren, wasn’t too keen on Ren’s practice in such a small home as theirs. Not to mention it brought up bad memories for her aunt. Ren was all-too-often left bored, lonely, and essentially hobby-less. Before the invasion of the leaf and the start of the Chunin Exams, a young Ren came across a passionately-training Lee. She’s one of few that looked past his odd appearance and was greatly inspired by his energy and drive. She one day musters up the courage to challenge him hand-to-hand. After all, taijitsu more often than not doesn’t require the use of any chakra, so she’d still be following her aunt’s wishes…right? Though, considering her opponent, the whole “low profile” thing was bound to be compromised. 😅
Personality / Nature Type / Abilities: Ren is a spirited, compassionate, and determined girl, if reserved in the beginning due to her aunt’s strict rules. She breaks out of her shell once her aunt concedes her freedom from suppressing her abilities to protect the Leaf. Ren is level-headed and cautious for the most part, but admittedly finds herself diving into the action like Lee at times, her emotions getting the better of her and a logical approach to the situation. She is often over-critical of herself, holding herself to impossible standards at times and also tends to be a people-pleaser to a fault. Ren hides whatever sadness she experiences behind a smile, taught/forced to do so from a young age with the abuse she endured unwittingly from her aunt, from parts of the village, and her mother and Tayuya’s harshness. She also doesn’t like to bring people down or trouble them. Ren seeks the most guidance from her aunt (whom she’s always respected and looked up to) as well as Tenten or Guy when she’s not training/hanging out with Lee. Neji less so due to his Jonin level and times he’s away from the village more than the others. When they do cross paths, it may be awkward, but it’s never unpleasant. Others in the village, including Naruto, are also friends with her, being a likable and upbeat person overall. She tends to avoid meaningless drama, however, and as such isn’t sure what to do or gets annoyed when Sakura and Ino have their silly spats, or when others are bickering among her. When not on missions, Ren works at a local music club where she ended up earning early wages and being able to practice her music. She started out as a set builder, event organizer, and busser (table cleaner), and was moved up to a performer once she gained more confidence in her playing, scouted by the owner and band members for her hard work and dedication to the club. When it comes to Lee, she can’t help but fall for his confidence, unrelenting passion for training/gaining strength, and will to protect his friends and allies. She is well-aware of Lee’s infatuation with Sakura and even tries to be a wingwoman for him despite her own feelings. Tenten calls her out on this, though can be a bit too aggressive, frustrated with her and Lee dancing around one another. Guy is a bit too intense, perhaps even too “fatherly” about the situation and the “power of youth,” so it’s ultimately Neji who helps her with in a logical and calmly manner, even if it is “troublesome.” Still, Ren can’t help but give her heart to him, finding strength simply from being his friend. Perhaps Lee will soon start to see her in a new light. 😉 As for her abilities, Ren can infuse her chakra mainly into string instruments or create forms of instruments and chakra strings by harnessing her ninjutsu and control. She then uses the sound waves for offensive and defensive techniques as well as various, debilitating genjutsu. Guy’s team helps her become more proficient in taijutsu (courtesy of Guy and Lee), weaponry (courtesy of Tenten), and ninjutsu and chakra control (courtesy of her aunt and Neji respectively…once Ren gets used to Neji’s “scary aura.” that is lol). [ I’m thinking Ren’s abilities would (and want them to esentially) fall under the Yin Release category since it’s not using any of the main elements, and it’s more of a spiritual technique rather than physical. I’m still trying to put things together for the non-elemental natures, but since Tayuya’s techniques have been categorized like this, I tried to create something similar for Ren and her family. Ren’s mother uses an assortment of instruments to channel her chakra, favoring strings as well. Ren’s aunt is proficient with the flute and some strings, and Tayuya, of course, uses a flute.]
