At the famous cave today where Robert the Bruce hid for 3 months in the winter of 1306. Earlier that year, Simon the Patriot Fraser saved his life 3 times at the Battle of Methven. (This is why the Fraser's were allowed to put 3 crowns on their family crest as he saved the life of a man who went on to be a Scottish King.) After the Battle, his friend William Irving, Laird of Dubskelly hid him in the castle safe, a man made cave on a cliff face accessed by ropes.
