i really think that post super narrowed its gaze to within the mlm community online. i don’t think their goal was to imply all men are shamed for being masculine; they were blinded by the weird ass wooby shit glorifying mlm relationships in specific spheres like tumblr and thought a post reinforcing gender conformity was somehow… the progressive fix to a tumblr specific issue. masc men loving masc men don’t tend to get as much rep specifically on tumblr, and i think that person noticed that and completely ignored the existence of like. west hollywood. every fucking street is filled to the brim with buff white blonde guys living the american dream and being gay to their heart’s content. i get that they were well intentioned, but when it takes a literal second to think of how irl, being masc and mlm is not only the norm, but the Face of the lgbt community to straight people… there’s no reason that post should exist. gay white buff blonde guys named chris Are the lgbt community to a huge portion of people. masc men are Not fucking suffering for rep or support in ANY way, even within the lgbt community

EXACTLY, exactly. Do these people not realize how common the "no fats, no fems" attitude was (and is) in the gay community? The vast majority of non-comedic media representation outside of tumblr for gay men includes only masculine gay men, and it says something about sexism and anti-femininity that feminine gay men are used as punchlines in comedy while masculine gay men are the characters in serious dramas.

sorry that this is so long- i’ve had pitbulls throughout my life thatve been gentle, sweet ass dogs. i’ve always Had at least one pitbull in my house growing up. i’m a huge advocate for adopting them, but just like any active, big breed of dog, they need to live somewhere where they will be given enough room and training and activities to keep them occupied and well behaved. pitbulls are not inherently evil, but when you get a pitbull and never train it properly, never give it activity to get its energy out, and don’t pay attention to its temperament, especially with strangers, it’s a recipe for disaster. like with ANY big, active dog, pitbulls can be dangerous! they aren’t inherently, but they very much can be! i cannot stand people adopting pitbulls without realizing that you need to have the time and resources to ACTIVELY train and occupy them, or else it’s very likely they’ll lash out at people they don’t know! we had to put down our first pitbull because we didn’t know how to train them very well yet and he was a nervous rescue. he was named Popeye, and on a walk, when a stranger asked my mother what his name was and if they could pet him and she said No, they didn’t listen. he had a cute name and he wasn’t a very tall dog, so they thought he was safe. we had to put him down the next day because he reacted so violently to a stranger getting so close to him. we named our next one Malice and people didn’t want to pet him because of the name. pitbulls are a time and energy investment, like any other big, temperamental dog, and things can go WRONG if you don’t know what you’re getting into. i love pitbulls, and even i hesitate to suggest them to everyone as pets. my neighbors have adopted and chained up pitbulls in their yard for my entire life. the dogs are never trained and never get to go inside. they’ve mauled 3 of our cats because of how bored and temperamental they are. (we no longer let cats outside, this was 6 years ago and we Learned that lesson!) pitbulls aren’t for everyone, and if you really love the breed and care about their safety, you shouldn’t advocate so blindly for it, because it’s just going to hurt the dog. pitbulls that lash out have to be put down- it’s a lose/lose for everyone to recklessly advertise a big, active breed as easily-adoptable-pacifist-cutie-pies.

Thank you so much for your perspective on this topic. I think that your statement "Pitbulls aren’t for everyone, and if you really love the breed and care about their safety, you shouldn’t advocate so blindly for it, because it’s just going to hurt the dog" is incredibly important to remember.
