#King of the Underground's Future [Asgore]

Note
Let me just say I love your writing. And I have a request! Skellies of your choice, with a s/o who's the heir to the throne of monsters. Their the only child of Asgore and Toriel who lived to adulthood. And because both of their siblings are ādeadā this makes them the future Queen/king of monsters. They are trying to help their future kingdom and monsterkind best they can, but they're really reserved and do it from the background. I hope you have a good day or night <3
Undertale Sans - He's the nanny lol. The King and Queen have a lot of things to do for their duty, unlike Sans, who doesn't have much to do all day long. He loves the kid, he's always a bit excited when he gets to spend some time with them. Since Papyrus is working, it helps him to not feel too lonely, and he can teach the kid a lot of things. Well, not all of these things are good things, he's still a prankmaster, but he's still teaching them. He missed being a big brother.
Undertale Papyrus - He's the official sports coach for the royal heir with Undyne and he's so excited about it. Turns out they are awful teachers and every session turns horribly wrong, like that time Undyne decided to test the prince's survival instincts by throwing them from a cliff, and Papyrus, horrified, jumped right behind the child. And then Undyne, excited... Jumped as well. They all crashed in the trees but more importantly with no way to return and had to camp there for three days...
Underswap Sans - He's not too close to the royal family anymore since he's on the Surface, it's more his brother's thing. However, he's the kid personal security guard when Alphys is not available, so they bonded through the little time they got to spend together. Blue likes the kid and thinks they will be a great King/Queen later. He saw their soul, they're a good kid.
Underswap Papyrus - He's the kid's nanny as well, but he was quite the obvious choice to the royal family as Honey loves kids and most of the kids in the Underground always ran to him when they had problems. Honey is their second father. He's part of their education, and he's taking care of them whenever the King and Queen are busy. Even once all grow up, Honey is still very protective of that baby he saw grow up. He's going to cry so much the day they'll take the throne.
Underfell Sans - So, Toriel has trust problems and decided that when she's out in town, he would take care of the child, without really asking him if he wanted that or not. Red is so scared of what will happen to him if something happens to the child that he doesn't bond that much with them. He keeps a safe distance at all times. Even if Toriel is way better than what Asgore used to be, she still has some of his manners and he's not too fond of them.
Underfell Papyrus - He's the child combat instructor and he's always excited to train them and teach them what he learned younger. He actually loves it so much that there's a chance he might try to find a job similar to this on the surface. He will make sure the kid is the best fighter ever, and he won't stop training them until they are able to go harass Undyne in her own house and beat her ass up for no reason. He will cheer so much the day it will happen.
Horrortale Sans - If it's Toriel's kid, it's family, so there's a high chance Oak considers them as some sort of nephew. Well, of course, being king or queen doesn't mean that much in their situation, so... At least it's a fresh beginning. He's just happy to have a kid running in the farm and getting excited on the small things. Someone who is not even judging added to that because well, they grew up seeing them all the time, so.
Horrortale Papyrus - He's the kid's second mom. Toriel can be pretty tired sometimes, and when it happens, he's there to take care of the child. He lectures them when he needs to, and tries to educate them on many subjects, particularly on how to help on the farm, or be nice to others, or cooking sessions! He's very proud of them as they grow up to be very kind and reasonable, and he knows it's a little thanks to him.
Swapfell Sans - He's kinda relieved because it means Toriel doesn't consider him anymore as her heir and that's the best news ever. However, she ordered him to be the heir's private teacher... He was not too enthusiastic about that at first, but the kid is nothing like Toriel, and eventually, Nox grew too attached. He's hoping a little as well that he can make them a better ruler than their mother. A lot of things need to change in the monarchy, he wants to help them to realize it.
Swapfell Papyrus - He's forbidden to go near the child lol. Toriel hates him and considers him a traitor so... That doesn't prevent him from being the annoying uncle when the kid is training with Nox at home, pranking the kid and his brother just to get a reaction. And yes, maybe he's jealous of all the attention the kid gets from his brother.
Fellswap Gold Sans - He's declared public enemy because the royal family is too scared he might kill the heir to take the throne or manipulate them to gain access to it. He has no contact with the heir whatsoever because the King and Queen know he's a little shit, that he is NOT trustworthy, and that it's best he stays very far away. That doesn't prevent Wine from pulling stings in the background so the heir meets people he wants to meet :) But the royal family doesn't need to know that.
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - Because of his brother, he's not authorized to get near. Unfortunately for the royal family, the heir somehow got attached to Coffee and escaped the castle a few times a week to visit him. Coffee is freaking out every time it happens both because he's scared Wine will do something to them, and because he's terrified the King and the Queen will have his head if they caught him with the kid. Why can't he be a normal introverted guy locked in his room doing nothing? He doesn't want to get involved with politics, but politics somehow always finds him!

part 23748234182942932 of me spriting things for something that's never going to exist (i don't know how to code)
(more info under cut bc my thoughts were so long i didnt wanna bloat the tags)
so i had the stupid idea to write the "deltarune" and "undertale" logos in each others fonts, and then it spawned this whole other idea of an au game of deltarune characters in the undertale premise.
it would take place around the same time as the actual deltarune, just a couple years in the future (so still the 2000's) meaning humans don't have mages anymore, so rather than being sealed underground the monsters just seek refuge inside the mountain. though, this time the monsters do actually have magic, otherwise the battles wouldn't work :P.
since they were just living in a town, i imagine the monsters don't have a king, but since asgore was the police chief he'd probably be the "leader" of the underground since hes still an authority figure, and the royal guards would just be other characters on the force.
of course because this is DELTARUNE, there's going to be a ton of dark world stuff incorporated into it. i only sprited jevil and spamton (because i Love Them but i think everyone who's been seeing my art recently can tell that), but i plan on adding more darkners X) i just have to really consider who, i don't think ralsei will be here >_> i love him but i'm not sure how it would work since yknow... boss monsters. plus spade king and queen will probably be ruled out because there's no monarchy in this version of the underground.
actually going back to spamton, my idea was that he could take the place of mettaton, since mettaton doesn't have a robot form and alphys isn't a scientist, the idea was that he was a virus noelle accidentally "created" by clicking on a spam link that became self aware. she combined a chair with a monitor to give him a body, because he was trying to take over her home PC lol, but he doesn't have any of the features mettaton had in UT. also yeah he's gonna be in the spamton neo body, probably in genocide, or maybe for EX. idk yet. yeah this is all just a big reference to the fact that mettaton created the spamton neo body in deltarune LMAO. as for jevil... hes, uh... hes there! i don't know what i'm gonna do with him yet.
that's the most i'm willing to share at the moment X) don't get your hopes up though because the possibility of this becoming a real game is 0.0000001%. Coding is a nightmare and i genuinely can't wrap my head around it so that's never gonna happen! but to whoever is reading this i hope you find the concept at least a little bit interesting :]

Undertale rants pt. 1
As much as I love Undertale Asriel is such a disappointing final boss of what's meant to be Undertales true ending When compared to Sans, Omega Flowey, and even Asgore; Asriel fails as a final boss
Sans practically cheats the whole fight; getting the first cheap hit, his karma damage, dodging all your attacks, and just using general cheap tricks to mess with you. For the entire Genocide route all monsters (for the most part) go down easily and let you walk all over them. Sans is the perfect final boss as he shows you that your actions have consequences and if you're gonna fight dirty then so will he. It's not just how hard his fight is, it's how he playfully mocks you throughout the fight that really frustrates you. He doesn't want to kill you. He knows you'll just come back. He just wants to piss you off until you quit. Until you reset and bring everyone back. That's why his fight works. It's made to be frustrating and annoying. You've made your choice now Sans is gonna make sure you pay for it
Throughout the entire game characters have dropped hints about the King Asgore. Truly setting him up to be the final boss. And while any player knows that he is not he sure as hell still feels like one. The choice to let us know at the very last moment that we are going to have to kill him is heartbreaking for anyone who is trying to play the game as intended and spare everyone. Especially after hearing how much the monsters of the underground look up to him. He gives them hope for a better future and the player, if they wish to return home, has to tear that all away from them. And when you finally meet him...it's even more heartbreaking. He is a kind gentle soul not truly wanting to hurt anyone. He'll even let you run away or wait until you're ready before he fights you. He creates a very peaceful welcoming aura that you know won't last long. When you do fight him the opening song "BergentrĆ¼ckung" plays as you're given one last boost of determination. One last reminder that this is it. This is the end. Everything you worked for is finally going to pay off...and then he destroys the mercy button. Now you are forced to fight him. No matter how badly you want a happy ending the game will force you to turn to violence. The fight is designed to get harder the longer you stall. Like Flowey said: It's kill or be killed. If you want to win this fight then you have to attack back. The regal boss fight music and increasingly difficult attacks truly create a very tense fight. Asgore can't even look you in the eyes as he fights you... knowing that one of you won't leave here alive. My first time fighting I had died so many times that I forgot the person I was fighting and I just kept spamming attack and then after the final blow...you defeated him. It was over. You won but at what cost? But you're given one last bit of hope... One last chance at a happy ending as the Mercy Button reappears....you spare him...he talks about taking you in as a family...and then....that's ripped away from you. As you watch Asgore be killed by Flowey who has been hiding in the background for much of the game who you've surely forgotten about during your adventure but might always been in the back of your mind wondering what that weird flower from the beginning was all about... Then he takes the human souls and-
Omega Flowey breaks everything you know about the game. From sending you back to the start only to twist it, to destroying your save file just like that, to mocking you Everytime you die then bringing you back just to do it all again he, much like Sans, is toying with you. But for a different reason. Simply for his own enjoyment. The fight takes everything already established in the game and throws it away for something truly chaotic and, during the first playthrough, frightening. Everything about it is meant to be unnerving, suspenseful, and make you feel like everything is truly hopeless. Flowey twisted himself into a grotesque mix of flesh, plants, and machinery. The fight has no turn based combat or even a bullet box instead putting you for a, seemingly infinite, bullet hell section. The music is like nothing else in the game being very overwhelming, suspenseful and frightening as well as being timed to the phases of the fight. The first time you play you have no idea what's going on however it's also not too confusing to where you can figure it out and eventually gain the upper hand. The hopelessness that the music and Flowey conveyed changes into an uplifting melody as Flowey slowly loses his confidence and begins spamming attacks in hopes of regaining some control. It's not noticeable at first playthrough but Flowey seems to spam one attack a bunch in the final phase while spamming reloads as if he's trying to find something, anything that will work as the tables are turned. Ending the fight with the option to spare...or to kill Flowey... The fight is one of the most beautifully constructed combinations of boss design, music, and gameplay that create a very unique and edge of your seat experience
And then theres Asriel
The fight is built up very dramatically. Everyone came together to try and find a peaceful solution just like you, the pacifist player, has strived for. Only for Flowey to try and take it all away again. And I do mean all of it. The human souls. The monster souls. Everyone's hopes. Everyone's dreams. And now...he's back to Asriel...but with the powers of a god. The fight starts off like any other until the song kicks into beat and the background becomes a collection of beautiful vibrant colors and- Well that's about it for the first phase. The unique actions are pretty fitting and definitely makes that unique...the music definitely slaps...but most of the attacks aren't anything game breaking. Not like Omega Flowey or Sans or even Asgore breaking the mercy button. There's nothing that's too fundamentally changed about the gameplay. The final attack isn't even that interesting and it's not until the second phase that we get anything really groundbreaking. Asriel (despite saying he's been holding back and is going to unleash his full power) only uses one fire attack. Though I guess it could be reasoned that he is still very much a child inside and spamming this attack is similar to Omega Flowey or a kid playing a particularly hard video game and they'll just start spamming whatever seems to work. Saving The Lost Souls and Asriel is very compelling storywise but it doesn't make that much of a fun fight. That sums up Asriels fight perfectly. It's very story driven, is a beautiful conclusion to the game but not a very satisfying final boss the same way Sans and Omega Flowey were
But I love Undertale and Toby Fox and no disrespect to him or anyone else working on it. It's still a very fun game and has characters and fights I adore. I just was disappointed at how standard Asriels fight is in comparison to the other final bosses. I hope the final boss of Deltarune would trump all these bosses and we'll see Toby create more masterpieces in the future whether it be games or just music.
But hey....maybe the reason Asriel didn't break the game as much as Flowey is because he didn't get every monster soul...maybe he is in shock the entire fight as he's not at full power and is confused about how this isn't working... because he missed one soul ... Napstablook's....If he got Napstablook's soul there's no telling how powerful he'd be Maybe he'd be unbeatable But .... Napstablook didn't let him take their soul....therefore:
Napstablook is the true hero of Undertale
#Rants#Undertale#Flowey#Omega Flowey#Asgore#Asriel#Sans#Boss fights#Napstablook#Napstablook is the real hero ok??#That's just a theory#A game theory#A correct game theory#Fight me on it

Sealust Chara
Chra's ambitions didn't change too much since their days in the underground. Chara desires to be "king" of monster kind for whatever their ambitions might have. With Asgore out of the way they just have to address getting Toriel to name them heir to the throne. Meanwhile they just enjoy fucking their way through the siren population and getting to know everyone. It'll help in becoming king in the future.
Chara is considered one of siren kind and not really differentiated from the monsters in the population. They are also a few hundred years old now too. So any humanity they may have had is long spent.

dropping my utdr headcanon/theory right here right now
so we can all agree that the red soul isn't supposed to represent determination, right? its soul trait has not been stated. well, my proposal is that the red soul is the Holy soul trait.
my first piece of evidence: in undertale, the legend of deltarune is that an angel will descend from the surface and the underground will go empty. this is self explanatory, really; angels are holy. frisk and chara are holy.
secondly, in deltarune there are a bunch of links to the word holy. ch1 has a song called THE HOLY; from what we've learned about elemental pairs there is a holy element; and the monsters have a religion and a church which a future chapter may take place in. oh and toriel says hell /j
three: it's not a normal soul trait. we can infer that the six other souls are more common, and we've seen that the players soul can be turned those colours (except for orange and cyan, which are still battle mechanics). this would explain why "holy" doesn't fit the pattern of human souls representing personality traits. the only time we see red magic in undertale is frisk and charas soul as well as asgores trident. asgore is the king of monsters, and this may be a stretch but monarchs are considered to be religious figures because of divine right.
fourth, in deltarune, the soul is a connection between the player and gaster and chara, who all exist outside the game. holy beings exist outside of this world, and 'play god', as the player does in undertale and gaster and chara as well in deltarune.
finally: the pope has a copy of undertale. this isn't a piece of evidence I just think it's funny that holiness is connected so deeply to undertale that it extends to reality
so yeah I've had this headcanon in the back of my head for months, but never had the time to articulate it. that's my two cents on the red soul goodbye
ok this is an edit because I found more references to the red soul after a few replays of deltarune (I don't like reblogs because it means less people will see the additions and more will see the OG post):
ā¢ king literally calls the fountains "holy fountains" and we already know that the fountains and the soul are linked
ā¢ I don't know how I forgot to mention this but either kris or noelle is referred to as an angel by spamton (he didn't specify who he was talking to)
ā¢ the motif of apples
ā¢ the motif of the number 7
ā¢ spamton continually references heaven, God, and angels. he's implied to be connected to gaster who I've stated is comparable to a divine entity
ā¢ kris owning red horns similarly to a demon; they have been shown to reject the possibly holy soul like how demons are unholy
ā¢ monarchs being so important to both undertale and deltarunes stories, since the main final bosses in neutral and pacifist are all royalty. this ties into what I said about Asgore being somewhat holy because of divine right
ā¢ you only get this tidbit from one optional line of dialogue from father alvin but the lightners in hometown literally worship an angel??? like that's so important how did I miss that
ā¢ God is literally a character in undertale (the annoying dog) who resides in a room that you can only enter through perfection of the end credits. the credits are purgatory and if you're good then you can go to heaven where God resides. he also shows up in deltarune ch1 where he's programming the next chapter in the computer room, but I can't really find a religious parallel there
ā¢ king and queen worship(ped) the roaring knight, which is a parallel to worshipping fake idols
ok that's all I can remember off the top of my head but every minute my theory grows stronger

somebody in the comments said āitās crazy that Asgore can actually tank the real knifeā and I know itās probably just part of the wider glitch going on her but like.
honest to god I think he probably could. like I know he gets btfoād in real kill everything runs but like. Asgore is not a fucking slack. I see people talking about this a lot but like. despite his kindly demeanor and his malewife boyfailure personality, Asgore is still the king of the fucking monsters for a reason. he is the strongest monster. at least in my mind. heās just always holding back when we see him fight.
I donāt remember the exact quote but afaik thereās a quote where Undyne says about Asgore training her that she couldnāt even hit him. Which, yeah, makes it sadder that heās letting himself be stabbed by a child, but itās also ultimately a credit to his own personal strength in battle when he isnāt deliberately nerfing himself/holding himself back.
I think thatās one aspect of Asgoreās character I donāt see talked about in a lot of circles as much as, I dunno, I suppose Iād like. Heās tragic. He doesnāt want to be killing a kid. He doesnāt want to win. Heās only doing what he is because he thinks it might, somehow, free his people. Another comment I saw says something to the effect of āhe even goes so far as to offer to let you be his kidā, which is true! Heās sweet. He doesnāt want to be the monster at the end of the journey.
But he is. And he has to reckon with that. He has to grapple the fact that his decree to kill all humans (note: donāt remember if this is 100% canon) and his momentary vitriol towards them drove his wife away. And, like, that reaction isā¦ ultimately severe, but after seeing both your children, the future of your people, murdered, itās at least comprehensible how Asgore came to that conclusion, in his blind fury. Itās so very human.
And thatās something Undertale does fantastically. It turns characters literally called monsters into incredibly human, incredibly real people. Itās no wonder why so many people latched onto this game and itās characters as a fandom, it really has the deep, ensemble cast to support it.
Undertale drops us into a world where the first intro shows us a war between humans and monsters, and then introduces us to monsters as more human than the main protagonist can become. Itās characters react, often, more realistically than we, as players interacting with the world, can. When you kill everybody except for just the tiniest amount, Alphys calls you at the end of the game and says this:
youtube
Sheās angry. Sheās confused. Itās complicated. She has what she has. Itās somebody trying to deal with stressful, bleak, fucking depressing circumstances, and trying to, for just a moment, find some kind of positive. She still hates you. She still says she shouldāve killed you. All of these feelings coexist, sheās not just berating you. Sheās a multidimensional character: sheās human.
There are other examples of this, 100%. Asgore and Alphys I think are the easiest examples, given their own personal histories with tragedy and deplorable actions, but god dammit even Flowey, a character who is literally described as having no fucking soul, stillā¦ cries before he dies. His true face, Asrielās face, peeks through in his ever-changing visage, and he pleads with you not to kill him.
You do, of course. Or I suppose Chara does. Itās not important. What is is the point thatās being made: or points, rather.
Undertale, for one, shows us a very simple truth: people who are different are human. It insists that they are, by characterizing these people so intensely, that they are made people by their emotions, their actions, their flaws and stupid jokes, theirā¦ realness. It insists upon acceptance for all people. And I love that.
Secondly, Undertale points a finger at its player: it turns that message around in the kill everything route, saying: āyou killed everything in the underground except for Asgore. Watch what he says.ā
He calls you a monster.
And you are one, in the mostā¦ human sense of the word.
The king of the monsters canāt see you as anything but one of his own kind. Because youāve murdered them all.
Through him, the game is blaming us. Really, the whole point of the kill everything route is yelling at the player to stop, and laughing when we donāt want to. It keeps giving us more, and in the end when we want an ending where weā¦ win?
No. We donāt deserve that, we donāt get to get away from this without consequence.
Undertale creates people for you to befriend, and then lets you kill them. But as players, we donāt expect to be punished for killing these people like.. we would be for murdering someone. We arenāt arrested, sure, arenāt put to trial. But Chara takes our options away. They taint our save file. You canāt forget that kind of bloodshed.
Anyways, thereās one more thing to Asgoreās character that Iād like to bring up:
He knowās about resets.
As a video I watched just now mentions, most people only really consciously expect Flowey and Sans to know about resets. Thatās fair, theyāre the only characters which explicitly mention them. Iād also wager some people think Alphys has some understanding of them, given Sansā dialogue about readings and stuff during his fight implying that thereās more than him involved with the apparent detection/research into, what does he call itā¦ fluctuations in the time space continuum? Timelines jumping left and right? I canāt remember the exact wording. You get my point, though.
But during Asgoreās fight, you can tell him heās killed you before, and he justā¦ nods. Heās very solemn in his fight, but this is just icing on the cake. He remembers killing you multiple times: he has enough awareness to recognize that heās succeeded before, in his grim task, and been brought back to do it again. Itās another terrible dimension to his torture.
Heās a very compelling character to me, not just because his theme slaps, or because he looks fucking awesome. Asgore is the king, and I think heās pushed to the side a lot. I dunno. Maybe rightfully, especially in stuff which takes place post-barrier opening, I sāpose. I just think thereās a lot there that I donāt see get talked about much. :) teehee
Credit where credit is due:
Images came from this video
youtube
Idea to talk about Asgore knowing about resets came from this video (not too hard to figure out the video subject lol):
Anyways! Thanks for reading. I love undertale. I could talk about it a million times forever and I probably will. Have a nice day :)

The differences between this story and the canon:
*In this story, Frisk is stoic at first, but he become a warmer and softer person over time, when Frisk gets to know Papyrus better. Frisk actually helps Papyrus when he loses all hope later in the story. Unlike in canon, Frisk doesn't forgive the ones that hurt him right away, they'd have to EARN his forgiveness.
*In canon, Frisk and Chara are non-binary... in this story, they're both boys... because the girl versions of them often get sexualized and it makes me uncomfortable.
*In this story, Papyrus is much less childish and naive (thanks to Toriel teaching him many things instead of leaving him in the dark, like Undyne and Alphys and Sans sometimes do), he's still arrogant but the whole journey will humble him and he chooses the side that prevents humanity from being wiped out (cause Toriel told him stories of monsters and humans once getting along).
*In this story, Undyne is still stubborn and hotheaded, but not as quite much as in canon and she is somewhat more mature as well... She also has an actual reason for hating humanity, which is connected to her eyepatch... And she doesn't enjoy attacking Frisk, like she does in canon, but she believes that she has to cause it's her job.
*In this story, Alphys is a bit sassier and snarkier, especially around Mettaton... She also idolizes Papyrus (for protecting Frisk and acting like a rebellious hero, similar to MEW MEW KISSY CUTIE) and she wants to be seen as a fellow hero by him (which backfires horribly for her).
*MEW MEW KISSY CUTIE is about a heroic cat girl rebelling against a corrupted city.
*In this story, Mettaton is a bit nobler and kinder then in canon... Instead of instantly ditching Napstablook, Mettaton begged Napstablook to let Alphys a robot body for him as well, so they could be TV Stars together, but Napstablook refused... Also, Mettaton views himself as the only true human fan (believing that Alphys only likes human stuff, not the species, since Alphys doesn't want to actually help Frisk get past Asgore) and Mettaton wants to save the humans as well as become one of them... even if it means getting a human soul first.
*In this story, Muffet is kinder then in canon... She doesn't scare her costumers into buying her treats and they're not as expensive either... Flowey kidnaps one of her family members and convinces her that Frisk did it.
*Grillby gives Sans some advice later on.
*Asgore Dreemurr's personality is mostly the same, but the Kingdom something a little messed up here... So the future generations won't question why they should wipe out humanity, when one of the King's children was a human... Most parents lie to their children about Chara's story: Saying that Chara was an adopted monster and was killed by the first human that came underground. Asgore killed the human, Asriel absorbed the human soul, crossed the barrier and tried to get more to free everyone, but the human village killed him first. Thus, the King declares war... Asgore wanted to stop these lies, but Gerson stops him, saying that this propaganda will encourage and inspire the kingdom more than the truth could... Asgore lets the propaganda happen and he hates himself for it.
*Toriel Dreemurr is mostly the same as in canon, the only thing that's different is that she's more aware that the deaths of the previous humans are almost as much her fault as they are Asgore's fault... However, she's still angry at Asgore for letting the future generations of the kingdom think that Chara was an adopted monster child, not a human child... Her anger is somewhat more justified then in canon.

Asgore, the king of monsters sits in his throne room, trident leaning against his side. Heās hunched over, hands grasped tightly together as he stares down at the dying flowers beneath his feet. King of monsters, King of nothing. His people are dying, his children are dead and gone, his wife has left to cease any humans from continuing if they fall. He has nothing. People die left and right, the scientists areā¦partially gone. Places arenāt the same as they once were. Asgore sits, silently as tears drip from his eyes to the ground.
āOh how the mighty do fall. A kingdom in ruins, a beautiful future gone in an instant~ā
A familiar voice called out in an unfamiliar tone. Almostā¦playful, sarcastic, sadistic. Asgore slowly glanced up words. The scientist looked different. Those scars werenāt their before, and his coat and vest wasnāt that color before was it? Asgore let out a huff as he slowly sat straight up.
āYes, Dr. Gaster, what is your point.ā
Asgore spoke, his voice shaking with a clear attempt to regain composure. Now that he got a proper look at the scientist it was clear he looked different. His demeanor was more wrong then his appearance.
āThis kingdom is on its last legs. There isnāt anything you can do to help at this point, there isnāt anything anybody can do to help, so wouldnāt you want to get away? Your children are gone, your queen has left. You could leave this place, start fresh. I have the means for you to exit the underground.ā
Gaster spoke as he walked closure to Asgore, eventually stopping in front of him. Gaster clasped his hands together tightly and looked down at the king. Asgore thought slowly, he didnāt want to leave his people, he couldnāt leave his people but maybe Gaster was right. He isnāt helping them, he canāt help them. Just as Asgore was about to answer Gaster slowly held out his hand, the dark blue glow of a soul. Asgore stared, baffled.
āWhatā¦what is that?ā
Gaster moved his hand closure to Asgore. The familiar shape of a monster soul tainted with black instead of white, the inside appearing like a deep blue human soul. It wasā¦unnatural surely.
āYour way out, my king.ā
Gaster states simply, smiling gently as Asgore stared in disbelief. After many minutes of silence Asgore stood up, gripping his trident tightly. He held out his hand to Gaster. Gaster placed the soul onto Asgore palm. Asgore looked between the soul and Gaster before slowly turning around and walking towards the barrier, disappearing from sight. Gaster quietly chuckled to himself.
āIāll keep an eye on this place, Asgore.ā

After creating the AU, I found out that the name that I wanted to give to this universe had already been taken by someone. Can you help me think of a name? AU history below
There are no āmonstersā in the world as we are used to seeing them; monsters are only people whom fate has endowed with animal-like or fairy-tale features: magic, ears, horns or tails. People are afraid of what they do not understand, so all those who were different or did not fit the criterion of ānormalā were expelled to the Underground, depriving them of the opportunity to look at the sun again. Over the years, stories about monsters were only forgotten, remaining only legends passed from mouth to mouth. The souls of the children who ended up in the dungeon were not absorbed by Asgore. Their owners are alive and living peacefully in the underground world. No one went beyond the barrier either, because the fallen children spoke about how they were treated on the surface.
Chara and Frisk always talked about how deadly monsters are. This was drilled into their heads as children. Chara wanted to become a monster hunter to catch these creatures. But after...
Chara and his friend Mark were walking through the forest when they were attacked by a bear. Mark, who was weaker in body, came under the predator's sights. Chara rushed to save his friend, and at that moment, awakening hidden power, the beast was cut apart by a scarlet magical wave. The powers bestowed by the soul of Resolve were awakened. āIām a monster,ā everything that was in the young manās head at that moment, fear and panic devoured him from the inside, drowning him as if in thick mud.
These thoughts ate up the guy for many days, until, during another brawl with drunken parents, Frisk, like her brother that day, killed her mother, followed by her father, who tried to fight back, and was killed by Chara.
The children understood that they would not have a sweet future here, so by Charaās decision, the two of them fled to the only place where they could hide with their abilitiesāthe Dungeon.
Finding themselves in the underworld, they find the Fox. She greeted the new arrivals with one phrase: āJust in time.ā He took the children to the keeper of the ruins, Toriel, and told them about the laws of this world, telling them about the system of resets and level ups. At the same moment, Chara came up with a very cruel plan. The higher your level, the greater your power.
After a week, when the brother and sister had to leave the Ruins and move on, Chara went on a killing spree, killing one monster after another, leaving only empty corridors. The power of the scarlet soul grew. When only Frisk and Toriel remained in the guy's path, he carelessly killed his sister, the one he so wanted to protect. But the poison that accumulated in him as his level increased did not allow him to leave the matter unfinished, and Toriel also fell after Frisk.
Snowdin greeted the young killer with white snow, frosty wind and...Foxes. Chara ignored the warning about paying for his sins with a grin, moving on. Every monster encountered along the way was killed without pity, all in the name of great power. Even Papyrus, an innocent recruit who was just training to join the ranks of the guard, was defeated by a deft blow of scarlet magic.
Waterfall, where rumors about the guy had already spread, was also completely empty. No pity, no hope. Chara left behind only screams, pain and dust. The fox again tried to reason with him, but the words were successfully ignored, instead she received a warning wave with a knife and a mocking smile.
Step by step, location by location, victim by victim. The soul was filled with determination, and the streets of the Dungeon were filled with dust.
Courtroom, maximum level and no hope. Sans fell, not the first time, thanks to the saves, but still remained behind, like the Great King Asgore. There is no one left. No one. Except Lis.
- Itās a wonderful place, isnāt it? Flowers are blooming... But the birds are not singing. After all, the trial should take place in complete silence - Chara was not going to listen any further
The guy attacked, but every time the Fox won. After thousands of attempts, Chara gave up.
- Sorry - that's all Chara said before the reset.
Time rolled back to the moment the brother and sister got to Toriel. The keeper herself did not remember anything about the past timeline, only a slight feeling of dĆ©jĆ vu haunted everyone like a shadow. Everyone except Chara and Frisk. Ooooh, the girl remembered how her own brother killed her, how she slowly died, and the closest person only looked at her coldly. She was furious. Anger and resentment accumulated throughout this seemingly endless week, until, while walking through the ruins, she was attacked by one of the monsters. Frisk, driven only by resentment towards her brother, killed the attacker, and only when she saw how only gray dust and a feeling of emptiness remained nearby, she realized what it was like. Level up. Chara found out about his sister's act, she, still offended, wrote it off as self-defense, continuing to remind Chara of his sins. Just in self-defense, a couple more daredevils were killed who decided to try their luck in a fight with children. But they know that this is a lie, She knows too. The poison slowly consumed the broken soul.
After leaving the Ruins, the children headed to the city. In Snowdin, Frisk continued her experiment with self-defense; in response to all her brotherās words, she only recalled the past timeline. There was no stopping her.
Standing at the waterfalls, Chara made a last attempt to reason with his sister, but in a fit of rage she accurately attacks him, killing him in an instant. Now he won't bother her.
Location after location, murder after murder. It's just defense. The poison accumulated in the soul, poisoning the mind, making it impossible to think. Many died, neither Sans nor the king could stop her.
It was the turn of the final trial. During the battle, after a hundred deaths, she repented.
āSorry,ā Frisk said with tears of despair, throwing it away.
The world restarted, this time welcoming children at the very beginning. The fox greets his brother and sister again, this time telling him that happiness cannot be achieved by killing, and that they must remember this lesson forever. Both Chara and Frisk felt the horror of the poison that accumulates in souls when you decide to kill, when you see the death of your loved one, when anger and resentment consume your mind. The fox helped the children get rid of this poison, freeing and cleansing their souls.
The world accepted them, Chara and Frisk joined the new society, grabbing the third and last

Horrorfell Sans & Papyrus character sheets (Updated version)
COPPER (Horrorfell Sans)
Backstory: Knowing that Asgore would kill Frisk as soon as they reached the throne room, Sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Flowey and Toriel allied to kill the King, so the child could reach the Surface. They managed to take Asgore's down, which allowed Frisk to take his soul to cross the Barrier and go find help. Exceptā¦ Frisk never came back.
After a brief period of peace, Undyne's and Toriel's relationship became tense, as both women had very opposite views of how to lead Monsterkind now that Asgore is gone. Toriel wanted to bring back the old days, before Asgore's kill or be killed decision, but Undyne accused her of wanting to re-do Asgore's work by doing so. Undyne wanted a modern kingdom, that would never accept a reign of terror once again. Eventually, a fight broke out between them and Toriel ended up badly injured and banned back into the Ruins as Undyne took over. Eventually, their fight caused a civil war in the Underground, which ended tragically with Toriel's partisans making the CORE explode.
Copper and Chief quickly understood it was in their best interest to stay out of this mess. Copperā¦ Copper didn't live this well. After his brother forces the town to stay neutral, he finds himself stuck between his loyalty to Snowdin and his friendship with the Queen, making him a target not only for Undyne but for Toriel's rebels as well, considering he was not invested enough in their battle. With the food lacking added to that, Copper quickly had to learn to keep a low profile, too weak to fight against big LV monsters. He eventually decided he was a burden to his brother and went to live in the Ruins with Toriel, so his brother wouldn't have to worry too much about his survival. Toriel had enough resources to feed and protect both of them, while outside, they resigned to hunting rats and small cavern animals to live another day.
After seven years of living out of town, having only a few contacts with his brother through the door, a human fell down. Aliza was Frisk's friend and heard about monsterkind when Frisk died, through their notes. They never make it to the human city. Copper had a hard time accepting that, but Toriel even more, as she had to grieve yet another child. Unfortunately, it was too much for Toriel. They found her dust in the morning, having no idea what happened. Maybe she fell down out of despair, maybe she took her own life, one mystery Copper would never know.
The initial plan of Copper was to get the teenager out of this hell as Copper thought monsterkind didn't deserve to be saved anymore, but Aliza convinced him. With the help of his brother, and the not-so-many monsters who survived the famine in Snowdin, they challenged Undyne, hoping they would be enough to take her down. That worked, but at the cost of almost all of Snowdin's survivors, his brother's legs and his arm. Chief didn't want to kill Undyne, but Undyne refused to give up, letting them not choice. After that, with seven souls and the Queen's soul, Aliza broke the Barrier.
The brothers are now trying to recover, closer than ever after being apart for so long. They missed each other a lot, and they hope they can finally let the past behind for a better future.

CHIEF (Horrorfell Papyrus)
Backstory: After Undyne took control of the Underground, tired of this pointless civil war, Chief took over Snowdin's authority, forcing the town to be neutral in the war, while Waterfall and the Hotlands became a battlefield. With the explosion of the CORE though, they had no choice but to learn how to survive, as Undyne, feeling betrayed by Chief's refusal to follow her lead, refused him and all of Snowdin access to what little food there was left. So Chief taught the town how to haunt small animals, hoping it would gain enough time for Frisk to come back and free them from this hell.
Constantly making sure his brother would survive, Chief forgets himself, pushing his body to limits he probably never should have crossed. That's probably one of Copper's motivations to find shelter in the Ruins, to stop worry him. It kinda worked. And it kinda not. Even if he played it cool when he could talk with him through the Ruins door, Chief had a very hard time trying to keep everyone in town alive and healthy.
He didn't tell his brother he almost died three times, two because he refused to eat for too long, one because Undyne took advantage of his weakness to try and kill him for good. Yet he survived. For his brother. He knew that as soon he would die, Undyne would find a way to hurt his brother somehow. And he refused.
He survived seven very long years, doing his best to survive and keep the others alive. Until he met with his brother again, and a child. He didn't think they would really free them, as Chief lost hope a long time ago, but he didn't feel like breaking his brother's hope, so he played along. Quite honestly, he thought they would all die as soon as they met Undyne, and he was ready for this.
So when he realized Undyne was as weak at him and that he actually had a chance to take her down, he was shocked. And maybe he let his enthusiasm talk too much. He underestimated her and made a terrible mistake. He didn't expect her to suddenly attack his brother, and without thinking, he threw himself in the way. His spine took most of the hit and injured him to the point of paralyzing him completely. But by sacrificing himself, it gave enough time to his brother to finish her, so he thought it was justified.
The truth is that he didn't expect to survive this injury. He couldn't live like that, it couldn't happen to him. And yet, he's still there. A lot of therapy helped him to accept his disability better, but it's still a subject he will avoid. He doesn't like his broken body. He hates that everyone are moving on but he can't because his legs will forever remind him of what happened. But he can't give up on his brother. So he continues.
He's slowly healing, but the scars will never really leave.
Personality: Clever - Disciplined - Dutiful - Empathetic - Forthright - Hardworking - Incorruptible - Intuitive - Leaderly - Loyal - Painstaking - Prudent - Reliable - Responsible - Preoccupied - Stubborn - Anxious - Cautious - Cold at first - Critical - Depressed - Desperate - Difficult - Fatalistic - Impulsive - Moody - Negativistic - Obsessive - Paranoid - Resentful - Terrified of failure - Still acts like he's Underground
Job: Farmer, Animal shelter employee
Hobbies: Taking care of Doomfanger, writing, crocheting, cooking.
Loves: Doomfanger, all the abandoned cats of the shelter, taking care of the food stock, finding new recipes to try, his brother, the snow on the Surface, criticizing the news, the neighborhood children, when his legs are moving even just a few inches, that his brother never gave up on him despite everything, puzzles.
Hates: People staring at him too much, his body, people saying they're impressed his cat is so old, his body, therapists who are not honest with him, that nothing is accessible with his wheelchair, people trying to help him in the street when he didn't ask help, people abandoning animals at the shelter, finding kittens in the bins in front of the shelter, when his brother is hurting, when he's hurting.
The S/O of his dream: Someone who can prove to him he's more than a broken body and that he still is himself. Someone who never judges him and supports his progress instead of focusing on the failures.
Dealbreaker: Using his disability against him, hurting his brother, asking to get rid of Doomfanger, and not letting him be independent.

Chara Dreemurr
What we know is that Chara Dreemurr was the first human to fall into the mountain. They were adopted by then Queen Toriel and King Asgore and took a sibling role with Asriel. They were the one to push Asgore to bring the monsters from the caverns of Home into the open space of New Home, lighting the people with Hope for the future.
From Asirel's dialogue here, we can understand that Chara was (likely) a victim of the humans in their village, and went to the mountain to kill themselves. Waking up and being loved by monsters, which Chara had likely grown up being taught were evil and cruel, was probably a bit of a shock. Still, Chara's love for the monsters, and for their new family, would bring them to eat some Golden Flowers and die, whereas Asriel would take their souls, cross the barrier, collect six more, and free all monsters.
We don't know exactly how old Chara and Asirel were, but they were still children. I'd guess maybe 12, max. Both loved their parents, each other, and their people.
When Chara finally died after eating the flowers, Asriel did as planned- he absorbed their soul, and broke out of the barrier. He carried his siblings' body to their old village, laying them on a bed of flowers.
It's said that Chara was still speaking to Asirel at this point, their soul's Determination keeping them not exactly alive but not fully passed on. This is what kept them around even after Asirel's death so they can follow Frisk after their fall.
So, Chara was abused by humans growing up, going bad enough that, as a child, they attempted suicide. Their hatred towards humans was reiterated many times throughout the games, but still, they told Asriel to go to the village they'd grown up in. Why?
I think it's that same sense of Hope that follows Chara as the underground's human. The sense of "yes, they were wrong, and they hurt me and so many others - but if we want peace, we need to forgive."
We see that idea throughout the game, as well, playing as Frisk during the pacifist route. Monsters attack us, and we SPARE, or we MERCY, or we FLEE. We do not FIGHT, despite urging from those around us. We forgive them for attacking us, we forgive Toriel for fighting us and trying to trap us in the Ruins.
To say that Chara was cruel and unforgiving is wrong, in so many ways. They're the one who brought Hope to the underground, and they're the one who was loved so much that they changed the world and their death ripped apart an entire kingdom in its anguish. Chara is the first human the underground sees after humans trapped the monsters. They are an embodiment of imperfection and forgiveness.
Chara is not the monster. They're a child. And their only role in the Genocide route is to finish what we, the player, started - to let the Underground rest after we murdered its population.

**-Subtertale AU: Henkasubtertary-**
This AU was created by Marta, Ainhoa (Daniel's girlfriend's sister), and Adley.
**Premise:**
This Subtertale Alternate Universe (AU) is inspired by the Underswap AU.
In this AU, much like the well-known Storyshift AU, the characters of Subtertale swap roles, but their personalities, species do not change.
However, this AU introduces subtle yet impactful changes that give the AU its own distinctive spark, while still retaining the core elements of the original Subtertale story.
Also...another thing you should know about this Au is:
The Underground locations, unlike Sokoswaptertale: SubarashÄ« sai hatsumei to rekuriÄshon, do swap places.
The Ruins swap with Hotland and the CORE.
Snowdin and Snowdin Forest swap with New Home/The Capital of the Underground.
Waterfall swaps with The Ruins.
New Home swaps with Hotland.
The Barrier does not swap.
Story Background:
In this AU, the story of monsters and humans remains largely the same: a peaceful coexistence disrupted by human fear and violence, leading to the banishment of monsters to the Underground. The protagonist, Mettacrit, falls into the underground and must cross an underground where familiar faces now have swapped roles, challenging her perception of good and evil as well as the balance between compassion and survival.
**Character Swaps:**
- **Papyrus (swaps with Toriel).
In this Au Papyrus is a girl.
- **Sans (swaps with Asgore).
- **Stelliny (swaps with Lyra).
- **Undyne (swaps with Mettaton).
In this Au Undyne at first was like Undyne from Subtertale but when she was a child her parents were killed in the war between humans and monsters and after that she was in the war and being a little girl she was fiercely attacked by a small group of humans, those humans besides attacking her did these terrible things to her: cut off her left arm and after that they pierced her left eye with a sword and after doing that they approached her to kill her...fortunately King Sans went to the place where that happened since one of his royal guards told him that her parents had been killed and that it was very likely that she would also suffer the same fate.
King Sans, upon arriving there, kills all those humans and grabs her and heals her wounds.
A month after the war and after the expulsion and imprisonment of the monsters...
The new royal scientist of the underground:
Dr. Asgore one day called Undyne and told her to come to his laboratory since he had created some things for her and wanted to show them to her. Undyne agreed and went there.
She arrived at the laboratory and there Asgore showed her: an eyepatch that can enhance her attacks and that glows in the dark, an extendable robotic arm that can turn into a large spear of light, a new outfit with robotic parts and some gloves that can create small spears of light and control them.
After showing her all that...Undyne told her that all those things were great and that thanks to those things she will be able to fulfill her dream...to become the most famous and popular entertainment television presenter underground and in the future on the surface.
After that, Asgore...put the robotic arm on Undyne and also put the eyepatch on her.
After that...Undyne grabbed the outfit and the gloves and went home.
When she got home...she put on the outfit and the gloves.
- **Alphys (swaps with Napstablook).
In this Au Alphys is a ghost girl and Undyne's cousin.
- **Asgore (swaps with Alphys).
- **Toriel (swaps with Undyne).
- **Temmie (swaps with anyone).
**Mettaton (swaps with Chara).
In this Au Mettaton is a little girl and she is human.
-**Napstablook (swaps with Asriel).
In this Au Napstablook he is a ghost boy.
- **Muffet (swaps with anyone).
- **Lyra (swaps with Stelliny).
In this Au Lyra is the middle sister of Chara and Asriel and is a skeleton.
-**Chara (swaps with Sans).
- **Monster Kid (swaps with anyone).
- **Asriel (swaps with Papyrus).

The Capital.
Clover: Friends!
*Ceroba, Kanako, Starlo, Dalv, and the Feisty Four look at Clover.
Clover: Our next destination is Asgore! We are freeing the Underground!
*Everyone starts to cheer.
Clover: ONWARD!
*The group finds Asgore's Home and Clover finds the note on the padlock.
Clover: A sign... "Howdy! I'm in the garden. If you have anything to get off your chest, please don't hesitate to come. The keys are in the kitchen and hallway." Ok then.
*Clover goes to get the key as monsters arrive to tell Clover the story of the first human to fall and Asriel.
*Clover picks up Rose and puts her on his shoulders and eventually Clover and Rose enter Last Corridor.
Clover: This is it. Can you guys stay behind for a bit?
Starlo: Sure pardner! Guys, we need to stay back.
*Clover chuckles and puts Rose down.
Clover: You too Rose.
Rose: Ok!
*Clover continues on his own and sees Sans.
Clover: Sans?
*Bells toll as Sans stands there.
Sans: So you finally made it. The end of your journey is at hand. In a few moments, you will meet the king. Together... You will determine the future of this world. That's then. Now. You will be judged. You will be judged for your every action. You will be judged for every EXP you've earned. What's EXP? It's an acronym. It stands for "execution points." A way of quantifying the pain you inflicted on others. When you kill someone, your EXP increases. When you have enough EXP, your LOVE increases. LOVE, too, is an acronym. It stands for "Level of Violence." A way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others. ... but you. you're a different. your LOVE was due to something out of your control. evil, possessing you to kill the ones who did it. your kills were accidental, those cultists returned after they died. but down here, you never gained LOVE, but you gained love. does that make sense?
*Clover slightly nods.
Sans: now. you're about to face the greatest challenge of your entire journey. your actions here, will determine the fate of the entire world. if you refuse to fight, asgore will take your soul and destroy humanity. but if you kill asgore, we all stay trapped underground. what will you do? well, if i were you clover, i would have thrown in the towel by now. but you didn't get this far by giving up, did you? that's right. you have something called "determination." so as long as you hold on, so as long as you do what's in your heart, i believe you can do the right thing. alright. we're all counting on you, clover. good luck.
*Sans disappears as Clover continues by himself but takes a wrong turn and finds the coffins.
Clover: Oh...
*Clover heads to the opened coffin with the yellow heart.
Clover: It's been a while since this.
*Clover turns around and heads back to Asgore's throne.
*Clover enters the room as Asgore is watering flowers as Clover stands there.
Asgore: Dum dee dum... Oh? Is someone there? Just a moment! I have almost finished watering these flowers. Here we are!
*Asgore turns around.
Asgore: Howdy! How can I...
Clover: Hello again your majesty, been a while.
Asgore: Oh. I so badly want to say "would you like a cup of tea?" But... You know how it is.
Clover: Asgore, we don't need to fight,I have an idea, but you need to trust me.
Asgore: Another human?
*Clover turns around, seeing his daughter.
Rose: Hello sir!
Asgore: Hello child.
Clover: This is my daughter, Rose.
Asgore: What do you propose human?
Clover: We head to the barrier.
*Asgore nods and leads Clover to the barrier room with five human souls there.
Asgore: And now-
*Asgore gets hit by a fireball as Toriel enters.
Toriel: What a miserable creature, torturing such a poor innocent youth.
Clover: Toriel!? It's been ten years!
Asgore: Tori... You came back...
Toriel: Do not "Tori" me Dreemurr! You pathetic whelp.
*Martlet, Ceroba, Kanako, Starlo, Dalv, and the Feisty Four arrive.
Starlo: Clover! We lost track of Rose and-
Ceroba: Starlo, Clover found her.
Starlo: Oh.
Dalv: Clover, we're here for you!
Kanako: Yeah!
*Martlet hugs Clover.
Clover: Hi Mom.
Undyne, entering the room: Ngahhhhhh!!! ASGORE! Clover!! Nobody fight each other!!!
Clover: We weren't.
Undyne: Oh, good.
*Alphys enters the room.
Alphys: Clover! Are you ok?
Clover: Yeah Alphys, I am.
Papyrus: HEY! NOBODY FIGHT ANYONE!
Rose: Papyrus!
*Rose hugs Papyrus's leg.
Papyrus: HELLO ROSE!
Sans: hey guys, what's up?
*Toriel recognizes Sans's voice and talks with him as Asgore realizes he can't reunite with Toriel.
Undyne: Come on Asgore! It's gonna be ok! There are plenty of fish in the sea.
Alphys: Y-yeah Asgore! Undyne's totally right about that fish thing! S-sometimes you've just got to, uh... S-stop going after furry boss monsters and, uh... J-just get to know a really cute fish...?
*Rose and Kanako lightly chuckle.
Alphys: It's a metaphor.
Undyne: Well. I think it's a good analogy.
Mettaton: OH MY GOSH!
*Everyone looks at Mettaton, pointing with a leg.
Mettaton: WILL YOU TWO JUST SMOOCH ALREADY!? THE AUDIENCE IS DYING FOR ROMANTIC ACTION!!!
Undyne: HEY, SHUT UP!!! Man, the nerve of that guy! Right, Alphys!?? Uh, Alphys?
Alphys: No. He's right. LET'S DO IT.
*Undyne is confused as Ceroba covers Kanako's eyes and Clover covers Rose's as the two lean in to kiss but Toriel stops them.
Toriel: W-wait! Not in front of the children!
Alphys: Uhh, right! S-sorry, I got a little carried away there. Wait... Papyrus, YOU called everyone except Clover's friends here, right? Well, besides her. Uh, anyway, I got here before you, how did you know how to call everybody?
Papyrus: LET'S JUST SAY, A TINY FLOWER AND ROBED MAN HELPED ME.
Alphys, voice shaky: A tiny... flower?
Clover:Robbed man...(realization) F*CK!
*Clover draws out his sword as everyone except him, Rose, and Kanako are captured by vines.
Kanako: Mom!
*Flowey pops out of the ground as the Cultist Leader walks out.
CLOVER: YOU!!
Cultist Leader: Me.
Flowey: You IDIOTS.
Clover: Flowey!? Is that you?
Flowey: Hello old friend.
Clover: Flowey! Let them go!
Flowey: No, old friend. I'm working with this fine gentleman who'll help me be powerful! But, I don't need him.
Cultist Leader: Wha-?
*Flowey kills the Cultist Leader and takes his soul.
Flowey: Now I have six souls, I'll be able to achieve my TRUE FORM!
Clover: Ok, I was fine with that guy dying.
*Flowey tries to attack Clover, Kanako, and Rose but their friends defend them as every. Single. Monster. Arrives, supporting Clover.
Flowey: You. IDIOTS. EVERY SOUL IS MINE!!!
*Flowey steals the souls of everyone except Clover, Rose, and Kanako in a white flash.
Clover: FLOWEY!!!
Rose: Daddy! I'm scared!
*Clover hugs Rose as Kanako hugs them scarred.
*To be continued for the finale of Undertale Rose.

Not me vagueing about a shitty meta I saw...Ā
Sooo, yeah. Saw a post implying that it was Torielās fault for a) adopting a human, b) allowing said human to die, c) leaving Asgore d)Ā āmanipulatingā several humans into staying with her in her home and e) allowing those humans to stay in her home and thus letting them get killed.Ā
The last two points are a bit... well, we donāt have much info canonically about the six souls just in general, so I canāt say how long they stayed with her, how willingly they stayed, if they snuck out of fought her, etc. So I wonāt spend too much time one that. But do you want her keeping those humans safe from the rest of the Underground or not, make up your mind...Ā
Anyways. I feel like, while sometimes I see Toriel criticism thatās fair, other times I see it, and I canāt help but think... Asgore was an adult too, yāknow.Ā
If Asgore didnāt want to adopt Chara, he couldāve put his foot down and saidĀ ānoā. But analysis shows Chara was probably his favorite child. They shared a hobby of gardening, he saw them as theĀ āfuture of humans and monstersā, he kept their sweater and grew their favorite flowers. Having experienced the symptoms of buttercup poisoning firsthand and being the local botany expert, one could blame him for not recognizing Charaās symptoms, or for not keeping the poisonous plants in his garden out of the kidsā reach. Itās made pretty explicit in his fight and in Neutral endings that Asgore really, really, REALLY didnāt want war: again, he could have put his foot down and saidĀ āNo more souls. No more war. Weāre trying a peaceful route again,ā heās the fucking KING.Ā
Toriel is not Asgoreās caretaker. Sheās not his therapist, nurse, conscience or mother. Asgore is a big boy who can make his own choices. He and Toriel just happened to make some really bad ones, while trying to do their ideas ofĀ āthe right thingā and while hurt by the same damn trauma.Ā
I... am actually not as pissed at this as I might have usually been, probably because Iāve already addressed why I think Toriel didnāt try stopping Asgore until the True Pacifist route and what Toriel meant by telling Asgore he could have crossed the Barrier with one soul. But yeah, I just wanted to get this one thing out of my system, that Asgore can make his own goddamn choices about right and wrong. Toriel didnāt force him to dirty his snowy-white toebeans with blood, if she chose toĀ āabandon her peopleā then he chose toĀ ākill six innocentsā. They were both undergoing emotionally turbulent events, they both chose to isolate themselves, they both lackedĀ āvoices of reasonā, they were both trying to follow what they felt was ārightā at the expense of their mental health,Ā they were both in very dark places for a very long time.Ā
Theyāre really more alike than different, and thatās the tragedy of it all. And the point is that it IS a tragedy, not that one was good and lovable and the other was evil and awful.Ā
