Netflix movie TROLL is a Norwegian movie. I watched the English dubbed version. I liked it very much. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but it does want you to believe in the possibility of modern-day trolls. The blend of humor, Star Trek references, and struggle is perfectly balanced.
Ine Marie Wilmann stars as a paleontologist who first recognizes the signs of a real-life troll. Kim Falck is her sidekick (I'd like to see him in more movies). And Mads Sjøgård Pettersen is the military faction.
Of course, there are trolls everywhere in real life. Can we learn to get along with them? Norway thinks so if we can get people to stop terrorizing them. The movie is rated PG-13 for frightening images, explicit language, and violence.
Who does the troll population represent in your orbit?

It’s lean and to the point. Sure, there are a ton of contrivances but the story is still entertaining.

Movie Review #015
Troll
Directed By: Roar Uthaug Year: 2022 Length: 1h 41m Rated: 5.8/10 Genre: Modern Fantasy/Folklore Stars: Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Petterson.
Summary Deep in the Dovre Mountains, an ancient giant is released. Confused, angry and scared, the creature tries to find its way home, but leaves chaos in its wake.
Review A fascinating use of culture to promote environmentalism. A beautiful showcase of landscapes. The portrayal of the government and the way they would respond doesn't seem entirely realistic, but it isn't much of an issue throughout the bulk of the film.
Honest Thoughts Hey, a non-English language film! Go me! I watched it with subtitles for anyone who thinks dubs are criminal, fear not. For clarity, this was a Norwegian film. I'm a huge fan of folk, so it was really nice to see it blend with the modern day. Scandinavian folklore is wonderful, and something the countries should be proud of. I can feel that within this film. Having a portion of folklore knowledge already, I liked seeing all the nods to the legends. Trolls weren't always colourful, small and prone to singing, they were often quite tall and they had tails! There are some important messages about environmentalism that I agree with, we need to look after the Earth and appreciate the beauty already here. My favourite quote was "We better call Greta then," which was of course about Miss Thunberg. It was a clever joke and I'm a big fan. Nora was a well-written female character and the relationship between her and her father was a nice arch for her character. Plus, he had a crackin' beard, RIP king. Nora spends most of the film with two male characters, a macho army man and a nerd but has no romantic subplot with either of them. They all respect each other and are friends by the end. I've been fed up with useless romantic subplots for so long that this was genuinely pleasant.
Scores Performance: 3/5 Plot: 3/5 Effects: 4/5 Flow: 3/5 Engagingness: 4/5 Overall: 3.75/5

Trol… Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren
Trol…
(more…)

MOVIE REVIEW—TROLL 2022Mi
Figure 1 – Troll 2022 Poster Trolls are very popular (except Internet trolls, that is) with people in and out of Norway. They figure in folklore and in fairy tales—and even in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, where they’re just another odd face in the crowd. There are trolls in The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, and in the famous Norwegian folk/fairy tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Trolls live,…

Movie Review: TROLL
I finally finished watching Netflix’s TROLL…yeah…it took me 2 days to watch…kids. 😂 WHAT IS TROLL ABOUT? People are blasting mountain sides in Norway and accidentally wake up a HUGEEE and ancient troll. Of course, Mr. Troll is like, “What the hell is going on?” “Where my people at?” and decides to go for a walk through the mountain range for all to see. The Prime Minister and military aren’t…
