Got to enjoy Kermit Ruffins at an open house I’ll at night in New Orleans. This was held at the Rochon House. This house was originally owned by Rosette Rochon who was instrumental to the development of a predominantly Creole New Orleans neighborhood.

Tipitina's Nola X Nola October 3 was a rainy Thursday but some of the cities best musicians in the city came out for an All Star Tribute to Stevie Wonder. Galactic, Irma Thomas, Cyril Neville, Nigel Hall, Kermit Ruffins, Deacon John and John Cleary all made appearances.

Dear Gus,

Your mother and I just started watching Treme and the first episode includes a scene from a Kermit Ruffins show at Vaughan’s. I loved Vaughan’s when I lived in New Orleans. Kermit played his trumpet there every Thursday night for over 20 years. Seeing it on television made me miss it.

Coincidentally, I didn’t take a photo today, so I went digging through my photo archives to see what I could post from a previous March 1. Lo and behold, on this date seven years ago, I was watching Kermit Ruffins at Vaughan’s. The universe is funny sometimes.
