OKAY SO I have a few personally that do fall into unexplainable events or ghost story territory as does my dad and sister so I'll share a few.
a couple years ago when I was at college I was on the phone with my dad when he told me that a framed Beatles record I got at the antique store just kinda flung itself off my wall one night and shattered itself - the glass of the frame, and not the record - on the elliptical that was in my room at the time. if the backing or hook it was on plain broke, it would have gone straight down onto the top part of my desk, and then landed on the desk proper, maybe landing just in front of it, which wouldn't have been On the elliptical, but on the floor between it and my desk. instead, it went straight off the wall and onto the pedal and broke completely, completely bypassing my desk and hitting the equipment dead on. woke my dad and stepmom right up. and then when I was home at some point I woke up in the middle of the night to find that my small square mirror that hangs on the wall likewise flung itself off the wall. when I measured exactly how far from the wall it was, it was a good 4 feet away from the wall, clipping itself on the elliptical and knocking the glass out the wooden frame but otherwise the glass was intact and not shattered. again if the wire it was attached to broke - which, notably, was likewise perfectly intact and had not broken at all, and neither was the command hook it hung on - it would have also just dropped straight down or at least have been a few inches from the wall, and not 4 feet. another story I have is one night I heard heavy footsteps, like someone wearing boots, take three steps to the front door, turn the lock, and then take another two steps, and then nothing. when I told my dad the next morning he asked why I didn't check if anyone was there and I said that if someone WAS there in the house I didn't want to die. 😭
my dad has a few stories, one being from when he was a teenager of seeing someone walking in his yard late one night and then a car went past and suddenly this ghostly white figure was gone after being illuminated in the headlights. in the townhouse we used to live in over a decade ago now he was asleep one morning after having closed his store the night prior when he felt the weight of someone sitting down on the end of the bed, which woke him right up, but he didn't see anyone. he did see a depression in the bed as if someone Was sitting there, but then it went back to normal like if someone stood back up. he got a call a bit later that one of his friends from the military had died, and he takes that as him visiting/checking in one last time. in that same townhouse I was home alone one morning before school (since at this point my mom had moved out following the separation, and when my dad worked mornings I had to get up and get myself ready etc) and was sitting in the living room before I left for the bus stop, and I heard pacing right above me, in the hallway. just going back and forth and back and forth. I left right then and told my dad later I had heard footsteps when I was home alone and he said "what makes you think you were alone?" and I HATED that.
at the house we lived in before that one, so back in kentucky, I didn't like that house entirely because it just had weird vibes to be honest also I was a wuss also I was a child. but the unfinished basement of two uncovered lightbulbs and all concrete everything did not help. I did not like the glass oval in the center of the front door because I had to pass the stairs to get to mine and my sister's bathroom and I was always afraid I would look down and see someone standing on the porch. the bathroom was also next to the bonus room the door to which we kept closed at night because neither of us liked it at night. anyway my sister is home alone after school one day and she turns off her music and goes to turn her TV on but directly below her, in the kitchen, she hears all the cabinet doors opening and closing, opening and closing, and IMMEDIATELY is like what the fuck. so she sneaks downstairs still hearing the sounds all the while and when she rounds the corner it's dead silent. cabinet doors are closed. basement door is wide open. she looks down. sees the shadow of someone walking deeper into the basement. promptly slams the door shut, runs upstairs, calls our dad saying someone is in the house and he's going "no there isn't. you're fine. go check if you're so sure" and she was like I'M NOT GOING INTO THE BASEMENT! IF SOMEONE IS IN THE HOUSE!!!
oh one time at home at my dad and stepmom's place the home phone got a call and I let it go to voicemail because I never answer that phone/if it's a number I don't recognize I don't pick up and the voicemail was distinctly my stepmom's mother's voice going "hello?" once or twice. but I was so freaked out I deleted it and her mom had no record on her phone of calling the house. so that was weird. but my sister and nephew have experienced weird stuff at this house as well like seeing someone poke their face over the staircase railing and the like. but I live with them now so I'm excited to see if I hear more footsteps going up and down the hallway again. (which, at my nana's house down the block, when I was housesitting for her, I also heard in her hallway at like 3am. it was just four steps but freaked me out so bad I called my dad and cleared the house with him on the line and he asked if I wanted him to the call the cops and I went ABSOLUTELY NOT because if it's just a mental health thing the cops are not equipped to deal with shit like that also acab.)
that's really all the weird stuff I can think of right now! my mom doesn't have any that I know of because she quite frankly does not care about any of that and has never really liked ghost story stuff to begin with unless it's in a horror movie but even then she's whatever about it all. she's more a true crime person than a ghost stories person.
tell me your ghost stories im begging
#SORRY THIS IS SO LONGGGG my family has a long history of Hey This Weird Fucking Thing Happened To Me#that's related to the unexplained anyway. general This Weird Thing Just Happened is even longer and more varied#long post
