Earlier this week, fan translation group Star Trinket released an English-language patch for Medarot R. A home console spinoff starring Ikki Tenyrou, the game was originally released on the PlayStation in 1999.
Unlike other side stories in the Medarot franchise, this entry keeps the traditional relay RPG battle system. The game’s character designs were created by Kenki Fujioka. It was only ever released in Japan, with development handled by Natsume with Imagineer publishing.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
The work done by Star Trinket is exhaustive. All text inside the game has been translated into English for the first time. This includes menus, battle screens and dialogue. Their work can be played on any PlayStation emulator, provided the user procures an ISO of the game disc and properly applies the translation patch.
The release marks the first completed fan translation of a Medarot video game. The group currently operates a Patreon.
Thanks Jayson, Dragon_Lord.

Medarot II: Kuwagata Version
Could a japanese RPG series ever miss the occasion to get a manga spinoff as well? Medarot's manga was actually drawn by the original creator of the franchise, Horuma Rin, who produced seven readable series mostly published by Kodansha (remember them?) on Comic BomBom. Starting out in 1997, the stories got later collected in several tankobons until 2009. Between 1998 and 2001 there were also a few stories drawn by mangaka Fujioka Kenki, whose plots weren't as official as the main line but whose style, a mix of cute-ified chibi with incredible contrasting attention to mechanical parts, later became the graphical standard for many Medarot games, especially the ones for PlayStation and Game Boy Advance. The last manga is dated 2012, following Medarot 7's plot and drawn, instead, by Tanaka Yasuki. Shifting away from Comic BomBom's predominantly "kodomo" audience, it instead landed in one of the many Jump magazines, opting for a "shonen" crowd.

Last month, Kodansha’s Re:ComicBonBon announced Medarot: The Koishimaru Collection, two compilation books that cover Horuma Rin’s Medarot 5 and Medarot G manga series. The publisher revealed the books without a cover image, but Amazon Japan has now shared those:
The books will go on sale on October 23rd at an MSRP of 1000 and 1200 yen respectively.
Medarot 5 was originally serialized in the monthly Comic BonBon anthology magazine between the December 2001 and June 2002 issues. Kodansha previously published the series through two individual volumes in July and August 2002. Medarot G ran in Comic BonBon between its August 2002 and July 2003 issues. It was compiled into two volumes originally released in February and September 2003.
Kodansha previously released Medarot: The Hikaru Collection in June 2013. The publisher launched a four volume release of Medarot: The Ikki Collection between October 2014 and April 2015.
Following the publication of Medarot: The Koishimaru Collection, Re:ComicBonBon will have exhausted its lineup of mainline Medarot manga series drawn by Horuma Rin. Comic BonBon ceased publication in 2007 and subsequent Medarot manga series were serialized through other magazines and publishers. Kodansha and Re:ComicBonBon, however, do have claim to a number of Medarot manga spinoffs, most notably Kenki Fujioka’s Medarotter Rintaro!, Medarot R and Medarot Navi series.
