PAC: How Can I Be More Connected to My Community? (LGBTQ+ EDITION)

Hello all! In this week’s edition of the Women’s History Month tarot series, I have decided to add a more specifically inclusive topic to this series. I will be reading on how you can develop more connections with women in your community. 🫶 Using my LGBTQ+ tarot deck, I will get to the bottom of this. Without further ado, pick your pile.

***Disclaimer: The purpose of this reading is to help women/femmes connect with other women/femmes! Much love. 🫶

Left-to-Right (1-6):

Pile One: Pile One, I feel like you have some issues with women in general. This is what a sociologist would call internalized misogyny. Every woman goes through this at some point but I am picking up on bisexual femme/*general* lesbian energy. This is what is keeping you from being in close company with other women. How are you going to be distrusting of women if this is what you are trying to attract? Whether romantically or platonically, I feel like you need to open up your world a bit. I feel like you can be particularly distrusting of women who mirror your energy, which is ironic. There is some shadow work that must be done for self-forgiveness. You have not forgiven yourself for something that could have happened at work or school? Some type of situationship perhaps. Or maybe you have the tendency to get into crash-and-burn type of relationships, which explains your lack of trust. Learn how to take things easy and slowly; lean into those gut feelings. The type of women you will attract in your circle/community will be women that aren’t afraid to apologize and take accountability. You need people around you that are going to be there for you when you fall. I get the feeling that the people attracted to this are people who are on medication. A bonus tip: Take your medication please! (this is coming from someone who has to do so as well). You need to be around people that will ground you and make sure that you aren’t too imbalanced. Pile Two: Pile Two, your message is similar to Pile One’s. I feel you need to stop being so male-centered or heteronormative. You could be agender but have a partner who falls into the binary, and this make you feel conflicted on what gender roles you should take on. You could be a lesbian who looks for a specific woman to play the “man” or the “woman” in the relationship. You could be a transwoman who is hyperfixated on not being clocked. You could identify as bisexual but have a cishet partner, and because of this, you feel fraudulent. If you fit into any of these categories, I feel like the main thing you need to know is you shouldn’t beat yourself up for being bold enough to express yourself the way you want to. You should, however, examine the relationship that you have with men/masculine. Whether you like it or not, you’re holding yourself to a standard that a man created and therefore, you are playing into misogyny. You are defying the odds in some way, shape or form and it has been done for years. Stop putting the people who oppress you on a pedestal. I feel like you’ve been around too many straight/cis-heterosexual people or internalize their ideas. The first step is to grieve your old self. You need to step into the version of yourself that is forward-thinking and pioneering. This can be a lonely road to take but it’s going to help you get to the people that you seek. You’re supposed to be around people who protest; strong, independent thinkers who do not take no for an answer. Reintroduce yourself to the world, Pile Two and great people will await you. Your energy reminds me of my friend who is friends with other gay women and she’s so likable. You could honestly vibe with anyone. You could fall in any LGBTQ category, but you have a big heart. I’m not going to lie though, Pile Three, you can come on too hard with some people; especially those who are on the shy side. So, calm it downnnn just a bit. People appreciate your community organizing efforts though. I feel like you’re known in your local community just for being friendly, helpful and wanting better for the LGBTQ+ community. This is something you take pride in. I feel like something that you can do to attract more LGBTQ+ women in your life is to actually do the opposite of Pile One. I feel like you tend to draw in all types of people, so you have the tendency to be disappointed by people’s actions. Be more protective of your energy and you’ll attract more community members like yourself. People who have ideas that are as big as yours. People who want to change the world. People who want to leave behind old traditions. People who have dreams that they actively pursue. Your energy is just so precious and bright, Pile Three. You really need to be careful. I think that you were probably born in the wrong state or town. You probably are the only queer/trans person in town when you’re supposed to be in a place like Dallas, California or Atlanta. Relocation is the move for you definitely. I get this sense that you’re the token gay friend. The energy feels awkward. I feel like where you’re right now is for school and you’re just trying to stick it out for now. But if you are able to move, please do so. If you cannot though, the steps that you need to take toward having more community is pushing past the people that you encounter on a daily basis. You aren’t looking hard enough for your types of people. You keep circling the same places instead of trying out that new activity. The old fashioned way of seeking community is out! Perhaps, you should download Tinder or actually go to that event at school. If all else fails, you should start a club for LGBTQ+ students and see who shows up. You will know that you’ve found your people by looking outside the box; the outcasts; the quiet people; the loners. This will be where you find your *gay* people. The feeling of being burned out comes to mind. It feels like you’re a loner. Maybe you’re Pile Four’s type of people lol. You need to be refreshed. I think you actually need to go outside. Soak in the sun, go to the beach, the park, somewhere outdoors. It feels like you don’t have people around you. You’re isolated. You stay to yourself but doesn’t that get lonely, Pile Five? I would also say consider making long distance friends or internet friends who are a part of the LGBTQ+ community in order to combat this loneliness. I also would say that you need to put in more effort to maintain these friendships as well. The types of people that you will be attracting are the genuine friendships where you go bar hopping with them. You need people around who are going to keep you light on your feet and entertain you with the latest news about how Gay #1 is secretly in love with Bisexual #2. It scares off potential friends and it causes people to not trust you. Another thing you need to stop doing is kissing your friends. You need to draw some lines between platonic and romantic relationships. And if you are polyamorous, your favorites are starting to show; show love equally or expect a mess to blow up in your face. You need to expand outward, Pile Six. I know people are making a spectacle of your love life and you don’t understand why but remember this: Every habit that you have is connected to how you treat others. People take notice of this. You moved like you’re in a small room, dear. You need to expand! Expand your circle of lovers; stop messing with people in the smalltown that you’re in when you should be with someone in the city. Instead of taking offense to other people’s words, you should be doing some self-introspection. Why do you do the things that you do? Is it for attention? Out of boredom? Out of desperation? For revenge? You should take up a hobby and find a new passion. This may be where you find your people. I think that being around people who are older/more mature than you would benefit you. You need to be around a community of people who are mothers/act like mothers. They have stories to tell and you will gain knowledge from them. You will feel understood. AFTER HOURS

hey, y'all, welcome to my first Steve Rogers fic. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

PART ONE

You moved your hips in sync with the beat of the music whining your hips against the stranger behind you that you had decided to dance with. You could feel his eyes on you, they had been glued to your every movement the whole night.

He was with two other guys as tall and as burly as him, accompanied by two beautiful women on their arms, one with red hair and the other with a fresh silk press. You'd have to ask her where she got her hair done. You still hadn’t found hairdressers that you trusted enough with your hair. 

The song ended and a slower song started but you weren't in the mood for a slow song. A nice drink and bathroom break would do. You head for the bathroom first fixing your hair and makeup before you head back to the bar.

You grab the attention of the bartender and order something sweet, a mango cruiser. The guy Brock you were dancing with joins you at the bar, sitting to your left, blocking the view of the guy that had been watching you. You regretted entertaining Brock. He seemed not to take the hint of it being just a dance and not an invitation to chat. 

“So you wanna get out of here?”. He utters right into your ear, usually that move alone would make you tingle all over, but it wasn’t doing it for you today. It had to be the right person.

“No I’m okay, I came here to have fun”.

“You can have fun with me”.

“Yeah but I'm sensing you have something else in mind and I pass”.

“Okay whatever you're missing out”.

I doubt that

Surprisingly he leaves you alone. You watch him try it with another woman and get rejected. He was relentless to get laid, it seems. You’d never gone home with a stranger from the club, you were tempted but the past few years you’d been wanting to settle a bit. But the dry spell that was there was not very fun dealing with there’s only so much a smutty book and your fingers could do. 

Now that Brock had left, the guy was back in your view, he was now talking to a tall blonde, one you recognised she was stunning. She was openly flirting with him, patting him on the shoulder and leaning into him as they talked. You giggled to yourself, as you saw the flush of his cheeks and his neck was turning a pastel pink.

You took in the handsome stranger's appearance, he was in a lovely khaki green t-shirt, black skinny jeans and black boots. His arms were bulky, beautifully painted with variations of tattoo’s, not your usual type, but the past few months you’d been drawn to tattooed men. He also had a nice diamond piercing, that sparkled in the light, and a small silver chain that peeked out from underneath his t-shirt. 

Maybe it’s time I go home. 

You finish the last of your drink, and grab your handbag from the lockers that they conveniently placed in the bathroom. 

So long handsome stranger

You hoped you’d run into him again sometime. You don’t know why you were so drawn to him, but you were. But before you could make your way to the exit, Brock bothers you again with his presence.

“Hey are you going already?”.

“That’s none of your business”. You didn’t like how close he stood next to you, invading your space. Way too close, he was clearly drunk, he smelled of beer, it was too strong to take in. 

He tries to appear sexy. 

“Whatever my offer for fun still stands, you know for fun”.

“Really I’m okay, I doubt I’ll be missing out on much”.

“Oh come on “. 

“NO! Brock leave me alone please”.  Brock grabs on your ass and brings you closer to him. His hold on your ass is strong and painful, you try to push yourself off of him, but he’s too strong, now he’s trying to kiss you. 

So much for a fun night

You just wanted one night out away from the chaos of university to have fun, you’d deserved it, after having to deal with  three assignments on top of having to go to work and other commitments. His actions were already making you regret going out. 

“Is there a problem here?”. You turn your head to find the handsome stranger from before, standing there arms crossed over his chest. He looked pissed. He takes hold of your arms and moves you away from Brock's hold. He stands in front of you and you  just watch it unfold. 

“Get lost, it ‘s none of your business you prick”.

“I think you’re the one being a prick here”. 

“Dude, get lost, don't be a cockblocker”.

“I’m not blocking anything if she’s clearly not in the mood for your antics.Go home”. The man demands harshly slamming a twenty dollar note against Brock’s chest. “Take a cab home, don't bother anyone else”.

“Whatever, you're a slut anyway, look at the way you're dressed.”. Brock shouts as he walks back exiting the club. The stranger who had just acted in your defence turns around and a smile on his face”.

“Doll? Are you okay? He didn’t hurt you, did he?".

“Yeah I’m okay, thanks for defending me’.

“No need to thank me, couldn’t stand you being treated like that”.

“I appreciate it–”. You couldn't make out his face in the low beam blue lights of the club. So you decided to ask his name, he catches on and introduces himself to you. 

“I’m Steve, Steve Rogers”. You couldn’t believe you were standing in front of the STEVE ROGERS, the CAPTAIN AMERICA himself, one of the greatest heroes there was. How had you not noticed. Sure you worked in the same building as him but you’d never actually bumped into him. Only Tony, who seemed to be around a lot. 

“I’m Y/N, nice to meet you”.

“Nice to meet you too, you have such a pretty name”.

“Thank you”. You blushed at Steve’s compliment. He smirked, noticing the effect the compliment had on you. Now that he was closer you could get a better look at him. He had nice beautiful blue eyes mixed in with green, it reminded you of the ocean.

 His hair was also a bit long and a mixture of dark brown with blonde streaks, your eyes darted to his lips plum and pink. Lips perfect enough for kissing. He also had a mole that sat right under his right cheek bone. He looked like you’d find him in a painting in a fancy museum. He smelled divine, cologne you recognised, strong but not overpowering. 

“Look, my friends and I are heading home, if it's not too forward. We can drop you home, just to make sure you get home safely”. You trusted him for some reason.

“Yeah that’d be nice”.

It was just you and Steve in the taxi, his friends had hopped into separate Ubers. There was a comfortable silence that settled between the two of you. You’re happy that you didn’t have to talk, you were tired and plus you had been drinking, you didn’t want to embarrass yourself in front of Captain America. First impressions mattered to you. 

Your residence wasn’t too far from here, so the drive would come to a stop soon, the driver turned to the right and there you were, arriving at your apartments, provided by Mr Tony Stark himself, luxurious and affordable. It was also an easy commute to work as well from the building. 

“We’re here Madam”. The uber driver notified you. 

“Thanks again Steve, safe travel yeah”.

“That's okay, I hope to see you around”.

“Yeah me too, goodnight”.

“Goodnight doll”. You give Steve a quick peck on his cheek and exit the door, before you could do anything else embarrassing you don’t know what had come over you to do that. 

You waved one last time as the car drove off.

this kind of question is hard for me, personally, to think about because of my own relationship with music and music artists (which is why this took so fucking long) which is to say I love music and don't really pay attention much to artists beyond the fact they make the music I love (lmao I really don't care about celebrities, I find it quite concerning that so many people idolise them so much... like your(general) fave is just a guy at the end of the day lmao) (that being said I can understand having an influence and following the *work* of an artist you really connect to) and I find it hard to make hard line distinctions between genres, aha 🤭

That being said, let's have a look at some music! (This is an excuse to show off my extensive and exhaustive music reach and taste, so thank you!)

Dylan──they're open to all types of music but they only really purchase R&B albums! Artists like Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Prince, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean, SZA, Kehlani and Miguel are all artists Dyl owns albums (and vinyls!!) for! Dyl introduced Kin to R&B and they usually listen to the artists she likes more when they're together (Beyoncé, Victoria Monét, Lionel Ritchie etc) They like ‘Foreign Language’ R&B too, artists like BIBI, DEAN, Cherrie, Girl Ultra, Adi Oasis, ØZI, Yseult and Lous And The Yakuza.

Shay──the real eclectic listener! He likes next to every genre of music, Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, K-pop, J-rock, Folk, Funk, Phonk, EDM, Heavy Metal, Grunge, House, Synth, Soul... even Country... Country Fusion! Shay likes artists that kind of... don't have a genre? Like Sleep Token, Twenty One Pilots, Pink Floyd, Oingo Boingo, Lene Lovich, David Bowie, Gorillaz, Poppy, Bring Me The Horizon, Afterlife, Seventeen, Red Velvet and Hannah Wicklund. He definitely love finding new music as well as sharing new music! (Watch the YouTube/Twitch channel that's got a segment dedicated to reacting to new music!! Like HTHAZE!)

Kinsley──lmao she doesn't mind Popular music but, like, the last Taylor Swift album she actively sought out was 1989 (she's partial to This Love) and Kin would rather die than be subjected to Trap music. She's very into genres like Alternative Indie, Indie Rock, Neo Soul, and R&B artists like Hozier, Florence + The Machine, Lorde, Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Searows, Reneé Rapp, Ethel Cain and Noah Kahan. Her R&B influence is mainly from being Dylan's friend but she does love artists like Beyoncé (she really loved her self titled album and especially Virgo's Groove off of Renaissance), Victoria Monét (particularly the Jaguar II album) and Khalid as well as older artists like Mary J. Blige, Marvin Gaye or Lionel Ritchie!

J──they tend to listen to music for the beat, the bass, the instrumentals more than lyrics. They like heavier genres like Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative Rock, Punk Rock, Nu Metal, Grunge and other genres like EDM, Synth, Techno and Trance. They also listen to Italian artists quite a lot, mainly because J wants to keep up with the language (because their father refuses to speak it or teach them) so artists like Måneskin, Jovanotti, Lacuna Coil, Max Gazzé, Vanerus, and even Vivaldi. J also listens to anything their sister recommends them, even if it's the most bubblegum pink pop shit they've ever heard─if Bells likes it they're listening. Shay will also introduce them to the wonders of J-rock and K-pop which bend genre all the time!

Theo──a Pop lover! Or rather, Theo tends to stick to listening to the radio or the Popular Playlist on Spotify! They tend to like more instrumental artists like or soundtrack artists like Hans Zimmer, Hiroyuki Sawano, Danny Elfman, Vangelis, Rachel Portman (who was the first female composer to win an academy award for best original score!) and Michael Giacchino over anything else and they 'broaden their horizons' by being dragged to Jazz bars and open house cafés by C (and MC) so it's not like they're stuck in one/two genre's!!

okay, so AURORA is great, one of my favourite artists actually. You might know some songs of hers already like Runaway, but I'd recommend Conqueror, Forgotten Love, Heathens, or very specifically this performance. Also, she has such an interesting and fun personality. So if youre ever having a bad day, just watch an interview of hers like this one and im sure it'll bring a smile to your face :)

There's this youtuber that i used to watch religiously when i was a bit younger, and she's also such a cool musician. Her name is Ally Hills and my favorites songs by her are Not Now, Wrong and Woah. She also a multi-instrumentalist which ?? is so dope ??

another hugely talented multi-instrumentalist is Tash Sultana!! you should reaaally watch their live performance of Jungle. It's a one take, with a loop pedal and just guitar and daaamn. I also recommend Notion and Cigarettes

if you are into R&B vibes CHIKA is a very good one. I love her music, cause her voice is so smooooth. I recommend FWB and Songs About You!
