The Kealoha Family Round 6

Makoa and Liliana's love for one another only seems to grow stronger as the years pass.

Sadly, this round began in tragedy when Kiyoshi Ito froze to death on the Kealohas' deck.

Nani turns 20 years old right after Kiyoshi's passing.

She decides she would like to be a painter in the future.

While Stormy was chatting with a random fangirl, Edgar informed Lou that she and Esme would be on their own for the night while the grownups went on a date.

Me and @panichoodie brainstormed an Elio break up AU in the KF server because we’re evil and fucked and we need Elio angst

Details of this AU:

Elio returns back home to Hawai’i due of homesickness, he knew Percy would try to stop him and didn’t tell him because of it

We also theorise he’s probably the first one in his family to go to college (explaining why Hina and Hoku were insisting for him to go,neither Hina and Hoku work jobs that require a degree) so adding also the pressure of that

He doesn't have the heart to face MC or the rest of the cast so he just...runs away back home,leaving only a single message to Percy and Jamie

Percy ...did not take that well, he's mad, disappointed, confused, frantically calling the Kealohas to see if he's with them

Jamie is....very confused, does not understand why he would do that. Jamie doesn't have those same feelings for Sweden and is simply not understanding why Elio of all people would do something so impulsive and risky for homesickness

Deja is pissed and on her way to track him down because how dare you hurting MC like that. But she's also hurt, at this point she'd probably view the boys as her friends, so for one of them to leave like that...hurts

Cam is also hurt, they're very sad and hurt

MC.... heavily depends on the MC, for me it's Taliyah the main one in this AU. Taliyah is an Elio MC so...yeah did not take that well. They also have a bunch of abandonment issues alongside their family falling apart so, they really didn't need that...

thebramblewood's Legacy Universe: A Primer

I've never really been one for following specific legacy challenges, but I do get incredibly attached to families and love seeing genetics play out, so generational gameplay has always been my thing. Recently, I've been very distracted by Helena Zhao Is Dead, which means my long-running family of nine generations (!) has been on indefinite hiatus for most of this blog's life.

I discovered their save got accidentally deleted, which is probably for the best, considering it was the same damn save I started back in 2018. Luckily, I had the current generation in my library, and I missed them, so I decided to bring Naomi and Micah back for Life & Death. I thought it might be helpful to summarize past events for those who might be interested in their family's background. Don't worry, we're not going all the way back! I love my earlier generations, but I didn't start getting into a more story-based approach until pretty far in. So here are the relevant details from generation five on (and I really did try to be brief, I promise).

GENERATION FIVE

This generation's heir was Gaby Martinez-Jang. After saving Strangerville from the Mother Plant with her ragtag investigative team, she moved to Sulani with the hunky conspiracy theorist she met along the way, Alvin. The impetus for this journey was Alvin being adopted and deciding he wanted to learn more about his birth family. In Sulani, he not only met his biological sister, Kaimana, but also discovered and embraced his mermadic ancestry! Meanwhile, Gaby became a conservationist and even won a Starlight Accolade for her documentary film on Mua Pel'am!

GENERATION SIX

Gaby and Alvin's one child, Noelani 'Aukai, became the new heir. After struggling to figure out their identity as a teen, Noelani's love for music led them to pursue DJing and producing. They started off doing pop-up performances in Sulani that gained traction on social media and led to a record deal. Meanwhile, they were falling in love with their childhood BFF, Nani Kealoha. Eventually, the two of them moved to San Myshuno, where Nani pursued her political dreams and Noelani was thrust into stardom.

This is where it becomes really important to pay attention. Noelani's other best friend was Malia Kahananui. The result of MCCC shenanigans, she became the granddaughter of Mele and Alika Kahananui because I thought they were too old for a surprise baby, lol. She was left with her grandparents by her reckless and impulsive mother, who was always going off on grand adventures and eventually just never returned. A yoga enthusiast and masseuse, Malia discovered her talent for communing with the island spirits when she was visited by her recently deceased grandparents, who encouraged her to nurture the gift they never got the chance to tell her about.

The spirits were always cryptic, but during one visit she received a more specific warning: "One day, there will be a cataclysmic threat to the realm where all spirits go. Humans occupy this realm, too, humans with supernatural talents who coexist with us in exchange for the protection they offer. A human of modest background and raw power is the only one capable of defeating this threat. They will sacrifice greatly to save our realm from extermination." She promptly filed that information away for a decade or two.

GENERATION SEVEN

This generation's heir was Noelani and Nani's son and robotics enthusiast, Sione 'Aukai. Unfortunately for him, he was almost immediately overshadowed by his eventual spouse, Malia's daughter, Cassie. Oh, Cassie... Possibly my favorite Sim of all time. As kids, they had a long distance friendship, bonding over their love of magic and fantasy. When Cassie started having dreams of a world beyond her own, her mother remembered the warning from the spirits and, fearing the worst, tried to deter her interest, which only made Cassie more stubbornly determined to seek out magic. Malia thought her daughter's rebellious streak might be fixed by a change of scenery, so she moved in with Sione's family in San Myshuno.

Unfortunately, Sione decided he was "too cool" for their shared childhood interests and rejected Cassie's long-time crush. Even so, they agreed to share a house for uni, where he studied Robotics at Foxbury and she studied Art at UBrite. Cassie soon decided college wasn't for her, but she used her connections in the Secret Society to make her way to the Magic Realm, where she met L. Faba and finally began her magical training. A few years later, she and Sione met up again in the city, finally worked it out, and got married. (Can you tell I'm a big fan of the childhood friends to romantic partners pipeline?)

GENERATION EIGHT

Sione and Cassie have twin girls. Rowan 'Aukai is the heir of generation eight. Rowan and her sister, Sabrina, are just beginning their own magical educations when tragedy strikes. A rogue spellcaster, having acquired forbidden magic, storms the Magic Realm and kills the three Sages. As word spreads, Cassie is one of the first spellcasters to arrive. She defeats the rogue spellcaster but dies of magical overload. Overcome by grief, Sione forbids the girls from continuing their training. Rowan misses magic and her mom every day, though everyone else seems to be moving on. She starts having visions of her mom trying to communicate something important. After clashing with her dad, she runs away from home, determined to teach herself the magic she needs to bring Cassie back to life.

Rowan ends up in Evergreen Harbor, where being a homeless teen in a smog-infested city isn't conducive to developing her magical prowess. She temporarily loses her abilities but is introduced to a couple who takes in wayward teens. After a dream visit from her mom, her magic returns. She and her friend, Alejandro, research all things paranormal and find themselves in a haunted house, where she receives advice from Claude René Duplantier Guidry. Eventually, she returns to the Realm, which is shockingly still intact, and where she finally learns what she needs to do. She casts dedeathify at her mom's grave, and her family is finally reunited.

GENERATION NINE

Whew, we're finally almost finished. Generation nine is ongoing, and its heir, August Uchiyama, only just became a teen the last time we saw him (and will probably look a bit different when we see him again because I have to remake his teen version 😭). After bringing her mom back, Rowan started dating one of her friends from Evergreen Harbor, Raveena Uchiyama. They eventually got married, settled into a hippie lifestyle on a big Henford-on-Bagley farm, and had five kids. August is the middle child and only boy. He's had a rather idyllic childhood full of farm animal friends, oversized crops, and adventures with Uncle Alejandro and Grandma Cassie. He has a lot coming up for him that remains top secret. 🤐

Back to Naomi and Micah, they're August's older twin sisters. (They also have younger twin sisters, Tess and Sadie.) Since August is the heir, they've existed mostly in the background so far. But Naomi proved herself to be a cigarette-smoking rebel who frequently snuck out at night and cut class to hang out with her delinquent friends, and Micah was a reserved, rather moody teen who enjoyed painting and journaling but eventually branched out and joined the cheer team. In The Mourningvale Files, they're meant to be in their late 20s and still struggling to find their footing as adults. I'm excited to develop their characters more before I eventually (hopefully) make my way backwards to fill in the rest of August's story. This may be the final generation for how fucking long it's going to take me to finish. 😅

Elio is originally Italian, meaning sun and deriving from the latin word Helius and that’s taken from the name of the greek god of the sun, Helios. It’s also said to be another form of Aelius, a roman family name that’s derived from Helios. It’s worth also noting that the family name Aelius is from Hadrian Aelius, one of the five good emperors of Rome. He was known for bringing peace, prosperity, and stability during his rule.

Percy explains this in the extra fries moment but Elio and all his siblings are named after celestial bodies.

ELIO: Mm. It's Hina, Hoku, me, Cael and Lyra.

ELIO: And thennnn, Cass is our littlest sister.

PERCY: They're named after heavenly bodies, like a big boxed set.

ELIO: Hah, okay. Hina's from mahina, and the Hoku's- or, well, hōkū means star. They were gonna name me La, for the sun, but they switched it to Elio.

PERCY: Cael, Lyra, and Cass are all named after constellations.

I won't go too much into his siblings names obviously, but if anyone's curious; Mahina is the goddess of the moon in Hawalian mythology, Hoku means star as stated, Cael's name is from the constellation Caelum, Lyra's from the constellation Lyra, and Cass's name (presumably) is after Cassiopeia.

Now, Elio mentioned his parents almost named him La. Like Elio said La means sun in Hawaiian, but it also means day in Hawaiian. There isn't much to go into here but either way Elio was always going to be named after the sun.

Elio’s name is pretty straightforward, meaning sun. The sun is inherently selfless. The sun gives earth warmth and light, it gives the earth light. Elio himself is selfless. He isn’t completely selfless, of course, that’s expected, but he is inherently kind. During the festival he’s fine with not doing something he’s excited about to make others happy. Elio is very much filled with life and vitality like the sun. During solo events with the other boys they are relatively more mellow than when they’re with him.

Kealoha as a whole means the loved one, or beloved. Ke meaning 'the' in Hawaiian and 'aloha' being the word for love. It might be worth mentioning that 'loha' is also a word in Hawaiian that means wilting or drooping, spiritless, and inferior.

Perseus is derived from the greek word 'pertho' meaning to destroy. Perseus is a prominent figure in greek mythology. He was born to Zeus and Danaë, but it was prophecised by an oracle that he would kill his grandfather and Perseus and his mother were banished to an island. I do think there's something to be said about the comparison of Percy being born in Japan and later moving to Hawaii, an island, with his father. The name Percy by itself comes from old french, meaning to pierce, break through.

In Tozaki, the first kanji is '戸' which means door. The second kanji is '崎' which means promontory, cape, or spit. Promontories are an area of lifted land in a body of water. Commonly they were used to build castles of forts on. His last name doesn't give me a lot to work with, but I do think there's something about a fort on a promontory being surrounded by water and trapping you to some extent and Percy's seeming need to be moving or doing something at all times. Whether it's something small about needing to get out of the study room in the study moment or something big like moving from Japan, to Hawail, to New york. The door meaning in the first kanji could also be a metaphor for Percy’s closed off avoidant nature.

Jamie started as a diminutive from James and sometimes Jacob, though I don't think that's the case with Jamie's name. I think if his name was James or Jacob, he would just go by that. Despite this, Jamie doesn't really have a meaning on it's own so I'll be examining the meanings James and Jacob, though they overlap a lot in meaning.

Jacob and James both mean holder of the heel or supplanter. A supplanter is someone who takes the place of another, usually steathily; for example, usurping a throne. Now, I do think this can relate to Jamie due to him being an international student. How he doesn't take the place of another, but he does move to the college and it's clear from his demeanor that he would rather have a quiet college experience. In the study event he even hides in a stall at the craft to get away from his groupies.

Porter has two meanings. It can be derived from both french words portier and porteour. Portier means doorkeeper or gatekeeper. Porteour means to carry. I'm going to be focusing more on the meaning from portier. Gatekeeping is the act of restricting something, or someone from a community. Jamie obviously isn't an open person. He's very impersonal around strangers who know who he is. In the game when MC is unaware of who Jamie is, Jamie is arguably more himself than he is after he's aware they know. It’s perfectly reasonable for him to be rude to the people around campus that talk about him the way they do, but he isn’t. He doesn’t want to show them any part of himself. Looking at his interactions with them he isn’t nice, only cordial. This could be seen as Jamie gatekeeping himself from other people.

classic question, now that summer's near! what does the cast prefer: mountain or beach? and what do they like to do in summer when they're at home?

Mountain team is probably Percy, Jamie, and Cameron!

Reynah and Elio prefers the beaches. And I think I’ll tentatively say Deja does as well. She’s a bit of a toss up because I don’t think she really cares for one over the other, but I think beaches are just a little bit cooler to her!

As for what they do when they’re homeeee

Percy and Elio would be running around the island, taking hikes or spending time at the beach. For Percy specifically he’s more or less tagging along with what the Kealohas are up to lmao

Cameron’s also going on a nature kick with their family. But otherwise they like to just stay in and paint, occasionally go to a concert if there’s one nearby.

Deja’s probably on a trip with family. Summer break means their yearly vacation somewhere out of country.

Andddd Jamie and Reynah— they’ve both got their preferences. It just depends on if we’re talking about summer out of college or just summer in general :3

Marissa Monet arrived in San Myshuno with big dreams of wealth and fame. when she met Victor Feng, she saw an opportunity and took it, breaking up his marriage and moving into his penthouse apartment with their daughter Daria and her step-daughter Kate. parenthood was never her thing, however, and she spent most of her time working or partying. she had a particular talent for getting in other people's business and using what she could against them, gaining her some life-long friends and even more life-long enemies. she only became an involved parent when her second daughter, Summer, was born.

Daria was practically raised by her au pair Vivian, and she ran away from home to live with her and her wife Ruhi Chandra in Henford-on-Bagley when Victor died. she saved up until she could afford a small rental in Windenburg, where she met her partner, Juno Fowler. she worked as a handyperson until her music production career took off, and she decided to settle down with Juno in San Sequoia where they had two children, Damian and Janis. Daria committed to being nothing like her mother, and worked from home to spend as much time with her family as she possibly could. her music career made her a notable newcomer, but she left the spotlight after Juno was struck by a meteor while using a telescope. she threw herself into as many hobbies as possible, maxing the handiness, guitar, singing, fitness and cooking skills, and was eventually dropped by her music label because of this. she focused on raising her kids until they moved out, and she reconnected with her high school friend/crush Jalisa Kealoha. they now live together in San Sequoia.

the current heir! Janis became obsessed with space anomalies after Juno’s death, and she made it her life's mission to become a scientist and explore space. she dedicated her child and teen years to her education, which left her with little time for anything else. as a young adult, she lives with her best friend Mackenzie Watson along with their flatmate Leonora Seren in Britechester. Janis and Leonora bonded over their shared interests and Janis' discovery that Leonora is an alien (and very bad at hiding it). now, they're "casually" dating eachother while they focus on their respective careers.
