Currency in Myanmar

Victoria Cliff Hotel , Kawthaung

Müde, wie wir waren, haben wir gut geschlafen und heute morgen das Frühstück genossen. Wir blicken nochmal von unsere Terrasse über das Meer…

So groß, wie diese Ameise ist, hat wohl auch Sie hier gut und ausgiebig gefrühstückt, so wir wir.

Bevor wir abgeholt werden ,starten wir noch einen Rundgang durch die Hotelanlage und bestaunen unter anderem den großen Pool, der gegen Entgelt auch Hotelfremdem zugänglich ist. Im Gegensatz zu dem kleineren Pool direkt bei unserem Bungalow, der ausschließlich für Gäste reserviert ist.

Das chinesische Neujahrsfest naht…

König Bayinnaung Denkmal

Um 8 h 30 steigen wir dann schließlich in das Auto, um nach Kawthaung zu fahren und noch ein wenig Sightseeing zu betreiben. Der erste Halt findet beim Denkmal des zweiten Königs von Myanmar statt, König Bayinnaung. Eigentlich ja Kaiser, nicht König. Er wurde auch , im Gegensatz zum 3 Herrscher Myanmars, von den Thais innig geliebt und verehrt. Und deswegen steht das Denkmal auch noch, im Gegensatz zu dem des dritten Herrschers. Kawthaung wechselte nämlich je nach Sieger der Kriege in den Besitz Myanmars oder Thailands, aber Bayinnaung konnte beide Völker vereinen.

Das Denkmal ist in einem hübschen kleinen Park zu finden, der von den jugendlichen gerne besucht wird. Wir lächeln Sie auch an, aber keine traut sich, uns um gemeinsame Fotos zu fragen, obwohl wir sicher sind, dass sie gerne welche gemacht hätten. Aber vielleicht ist das auch nur Einbildung …

Ein Weißkopfseeadler schwebt über unseren Köpfen durch den Himmel, auf Ausschau nach Beute. Zumindest sieht er aus wie ein Weißkopfseeadler.

Victoria Point

Danach geht es zum „Fuß Myanmars“. So nennt sich dieser Aussichtspunkt, korrekt aber heißt er „Victoria Point“. Hier findet sich dieser kleine Schrein oder Tempel, sehr hübsch anzuschauen, so wie der Pfeifen rauchende Mönch :-)

Eine junge Dame hat Ihr Motorrad geparkt, um mit ihrem Handy zu telefonieren. Das Eingekaufte kann warten, Kühlschränke hat hier sowieso kaum jemand…

Bayinnaung Pagoda

wenige Meter vom Aussichtspunkt Victoria Point entfernt , direkt am Kai, besuchen wir dann diese Pagode, deren Namen scheinbar Bayinnaung Pagoda sein dürfte. Laut Nwe heisst sie aber Schlangenpagode, aber das wäre derselbe Name wie der der Pagode auf der Insel. Eine wirklich schöne, kleine Pagode.

Wir kaufen etwas „Popcorn“, um dieses den Schlangen zu spenden, die Buddha schützen. Es wird in einer Schale mit Milch gemischt, dann vor der Buddhastatue aufgestellt und gebetet. Danach wird die Schale in das Meer entleert.

Zu guter Letzt wird dann neunmal die Glocke geschlagen !

Bunte Bänke bieten den Besuchern Platz, um den Blick auf das Meer, die Insel mit der Schlangenpagode und nach Thailand zu geniessen…

Der Markt von Kawthaung

Die Zeit läuft und wir fahren weiter zum Markt von Kawthaung, der wesentlich größer ist als es scheint und teilweise im Freien, großteils aber in einer Halle liegt. Hier gibt es alles zu finden , und Doris kauft hier 2 Flaschen Körperlotion, die extrem gut gegen unsere tausenden Mückenbisse oder Sandflohbisse oder was immer das sein mag, helfen soll. Dann gibt es noch ein schönes Paar Sandaletten zu erwerben, die müssen noch mit ;-)

Jede Menge buntes und leuchtendes Zeug findet sich hier am Markt.

Aber natürlich auch Essbares und sonstiges Nützliches…

Schlußendlich aber müssen wir zurück ins Hotel und bestaunen drei Damen auf dem Motorrad

Am Weg halten wir nochmal bei der

Pagode am Meer

… die wir gestern nur von außen fotografiert haben. Heute haben wir noch etwas Zeit, sie von innen zu besichtigen.

Als Spende kaufen wir um 1000 Kyat eine Glocke, die an einer dafür aufgestellten Halterung aufgehängt wird. Der Verkäufer freut sich so darüber , dass er uns eine zweite Glocke dazu schenkt .Danach heißt es wieder, neunmal den Gong zu schlagen.

Unsere Koffer haben wir schon am frühen Morgen gepackt, und so bleiben uns noch einige Minuten , um Fotos zu machen, bevor es zum Hotel geht, um auszuchecken und die Koffer in den Wagen zu verfrachten. Um 11 h geht es zum Flughafen, der Flug nach Yangon ist für 12 h 50 angesetzt und wird auch ziemlich pünktlich starten .

Flughafen Kawthaung

Am Flughafen lernen wir eine deutsche Touristin aus Köln kennen, die alleine unterwegs ist und gerade von Thailand kommend nach Dawei weiter reist. Sie berichtet uns von Ihrer Liebe zu Indonesien und wir tauschen Erfahrungen aus. Dann geht es ab nach Yangon, mit einem Zwischenstopp in Dawei, wo unsere deutsche Bekanntschaft aussteigen wird, um hier die Erkundung Burmas zu starten.

An Board des Flugzeuges folgen zunächst die Sicherheitseinweisungen…

Es ist das wohl kälteste Flugzeug, mit dem wir je geflogen sind ! Nwe borgt Doris ihren Schal und wickelt sich selbst in einen weiteren Schal. Sogar Walter muß sich erstmals in einem Flugzeug eine Decke überwerfen !

Entschädig werden wir dafür aber mit tollen Ausblicken über den Mergui Archipel und einem leckeren, kleinen Snack ! Nach dem Zwischenstopp in Dawei bekommen wir den Snack dann ein zweites Mal :-)

Von Kawthaung nach Dawei dauert der Flug etwa 50 Minuten, der Halt in Dawei etwa 20 Minuten. Weitere 45 Minuten später landen wir in Yangon, also gegen etwa 15 Uhr.

Yangon

Auf der Fahrt zum Clover Hotel realisieren wir erst, dass wir jetzt schon Abschied von Nwe nehmen müssen, da Nwe morgen um 8h früh eine neue Reisegruppe abholen muss, mit denen Sie 16 Tage auf Tour geht. Wir werden Sie also nicht mehr wiedersehen… Beim Abschied bricht Nwe in Tränen aus und Sie weigert sich, unser Abschiedsgeschenk anzunehmen. Es ist bloß eine kleine selbstgemachte Dankeskarte mit ein wenig Inhalt, und wir müssen es ihr förmlich aufzwingen. Der Abschied ist schmerzhaft…

Wir haben gar nicht bemerkt, dass der Kofferträger des Hotels nicht nur unsere, sondern auch Nwe`s Koffer ausgeladen hat. Sofort rufen wir Nwe an, als wir das bemerken, aber die steckt mit dem Fahrer schon im Stau und so warten wir vor dem Hotel 15 Minuten, bis die beiden wieder da sind. Noch einmal nehmen wir kurz Abschied….

Nachdem wir die Koffer ins Zimmer 104 ( extrem ruhig ! ) verfrachtet haben, schwimmen wir noch ein paar Runden im Pool, der diesmal gefüllt ist :-)

Wir schwimmen bis zum Sonnenuntergang. Vom Dach des Hotels aus, wo sich auch der Pool befindet, im 5. Stockwerk, wirkt die Shwedagon Pagode bei Sonnenuntergang unheimlich schön…

Als wir zurück ins Zimmer wollen, um uns für den Besuch der Shwedagon Pagode umzuziehen, verweigert uns unsere Zimmertüre den Eintritt. Die Behebung des Problems dauert ein wenig…Gegen 18h spazieren wir dann los auf unsere geliebte Shwedagon Pagode. Am Weg dorthin werden wir wieder ein paar mal um gemeinsame Fotos gebeten und finden schöne Foto-Motive…

Kyaethoon Pagode

Wir besuchen noch die Kyaethoon Pagode, die kurz vor der Shwedagon Pagode ( Osteingang ) am der rechten Straßenseite der Gyartawya Street liegt. Links und rechts nach dem Eingangsportal liegen Teiche, an der die Einheimischen die Fische füttern. Die Pagode enthält auch eine Sammlung antiker Buddhastatuen, die in einem Glasschrank ausgestellt sind.

Viele wunderbare Buddha-Statuen und Nats sind hier aufgestellt.

Shwedagon Pagode

Dann geht es weiter zur Shwedagon. Wir kaufen zu je 500 Kyat zwei Blumensträuße für unsere Wochentags-Ecken und um 1400 Kyat zwei Blumengirlanden für den Wunscherfüllungsplatz.

Kurz vor dem Osteingang findet eine Spendensammlung statt, laut und bunt…

Wir gehen wieder durch die Kontrolle und bezahlen die 8000 Kyat Eintritt pro Person. Der Herr an der Kasse lacht, als er die vielen Kleber an Doris` Geldbörse sieht, die man immer an das Oberteil geklebt bekommt, wenn man die Shwedagon besucht und freut sich, dass wir so oft hierher kommen.

Wir umrunden die Shwedagon im Uhrzeigersinn, wie es sich gehört. Nicht, ohne wieder mehrmals mit Einheimischen für Fotos zu posieren. Wir gewinnen wieder einige neue Facebook-Freund dazu :-)

Danach spenden wir zunächst am Wunscherfüllungsplatz unsere Blumenketten und beten

…anschließend spenden wir an unseren Wochentagsecken die Blumensträuße und es wird wieder Buddha gewaschen. Ein Becher Wasser pro Lebensjahr, das dauert bei Walter ein wenig länger…

Als wir die Shwedagon verlassen, sehen wir uns noch nach kleinen Glocken und einer Schneekugel um, kaufen aber noch nichts, um erst die ermittelten Preise hier mit denen in Thandwe zu vergleichen. Wir kommen ja nochmal hierher an die Shwedagon zurück…

Wir einigen uns auf 2000 Kyat für die Fahrt in die Yaw Min Gyi Street / Ecke Shwedagon Pagoda Street.

Bei „Danny Cafe and Restaurant“ bestellen wir unseren heiß geliebten „Cocktail Juice“ , einen Mix aus allerlei Obst…

.. und zwei Chicken Burger und Pommes. Es schmeckt lecker wie immer und der Preis von 10600 Kyat ist mehr als gerechtfertigt und überaus günstig. Englisch spricht man hier zwar noch immer nicht, aber unser bescheidenes Burmesisch reicht immer ;-)

Man freut sich über das Trinkgeld, als wir bezahlen und uns auf den Weg zurück ins Hotel machen. Wir beschliessen, zu Fuß zu gehen, um Kalorien abzubauen. Aber der Weg dauert dann doch ganze 45 Minuten, weil wir auf Strassen gehen, wo wir wissen, dass sie beleuchtet sind und daher den kürzeren Weg außen vor lassen. Wir merken erstmals, dass es hier abends kaum mehr Stände gibt, da es jetzt verboten wurde, am späteren Abend die Stände an den Strassen offen zu halten. Schade…nur ganz wenige Essens-Stände haben noch offen… Manche Häuser wirken auch sehr gespenstisch….

Leicht erschöpft erreichen wir das Hotel , staunen über einen Pizza Hut Schachtel am Gang und freuen uns auf den morgigen Flug in unser kleines Paradies, das Aureum Palace Resort am Ngapali Beach…

Nhân viên y tế Myanmar xuống đường

Hàng trăm bác sĩ và y tá diễu hành qua Mandalay sáng sớm nay để tránh đụng độ với lực lượng an ninh, sau những cuộc trấn áp cứng rắn.

Phóng viên của AFP đưa tin các nhân viên y tế đội mũ cứng và cầm áp phích in hình Cố vấn Nhà nước Aung San Suu Kyi, người bị quân đội Myanmar bắt trong cuộc đảo chính hôm 1/2, trong lúc diễu hành qua thành phố Mandalay, miền trung Myanmar.

Mandalay, thủ phủ văn hóa và là thành phố lớn thứ hai Myanmar, đã chứng kiến một số v�� bạo lực tồi tệ nhất kể từ sau cuộc đảo chính. Truyền thông địa phương đưa tin cuộc tuần hành diễn ra vào rạng sáng nhằm tránh lực lượng an ninh.

Một ngày trước đó, Hiệp hội Hỗ trợ Tù nhân Chính trị (AAPP), một nhóm giám sát địa phương, cho hay có thêm 4 người biểu tình thiệt mạng trên cả nước sau đợt trấn áp cuối tuần nhằm vào đám đông phản đối đảo chính, bao gồm hai người tại thành phố Yangon.

Gần 20 cuộc biểu tình đã diễn ra từ đêm 20/3 tới rạng sáng nay trên khắp Myanmar, từ trung tâm tài chính Yangon tới các cộng đồng ít người ở bang Kachin phía bắc và thị trấn Kawthaung ở phía nam. Tại thị trấn Kale ở phía bắc, người biểu tình đã thắp nến xuyên đêm và giơ các biểu ngữ kêu gọi Liên Hợp Quốc can thiệp, nhằm chấm dứt bạo lực ở Myanmar.

Theo AAPP, gần 250 trường hợp tử vong đã được xác nhận kể từ khi đảo chính nổ ra, lưu ý thêm rằng con số thực tế có thể cao hơn. Nhóm giám sát này còn cho hay hơn 2.300 người khác đã bị bắt. Bất chấp sự lên án từ cộng đồng quốc tế, bao gồm Mỹ, Liên minh châu Âu và Liên Hợp Quốc, tình trạng đổ máu vẫn tiếp diễn.

Myanmar rơi vào tình trạng hỗn loạn kể từ khi quân đội bắt bà Suu Kyi và loạt quan chức cấp cao trong chính quyền dân sự tháng trước, châm ngòi cho làn sóng biểu tình trên toàn quốc. Lực lượng an ninh Myanmar đã bắn đạn thật, sử dụng hơi cay, đạn cao su nhằm kiềm chế đám đông.

Victoria Cliff Hotel

Wir verlassen nach einer ruhigen Nacht und einem guten Schlaf unseren Ocean View Bungalow A6.

Um 7h sind wir beim Frühstück. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist wieder reichlich. Hier ein paar Bilder, was so alles geboten wird.

Auch der Ausblick von der Frühstücksterrasse ist nicht übel :-)

Ein freundlicher Kellner, der offensichtlich auf Personen seines eigenen Geschlechtes steht, macht ein paar Fotos von uns, dann kommt auch schon Nwe und wir frühstücken gemeinsam.

Am Myoma Jetty

Um 8 h geht es dann per Auto nach Kawthaung Stadt, zum Hafen bzw. dem Myoma Jetty. Im Büro der TZK Tours, dem Veranstalter unseres heutigen Ausfluges, geht es für alle nochmal schnell ab auf die Toilette. An Board des Bootes gibt es später nämlich keine Möglichkeit mehr, seine Geschäfte abzuwickeln, hahaha !

Nyaung Oo Phee Island

Mit dem Schnellboot geht es heute auf die Insel mit dem recht einfachen Namen Nyaung Oo Phee Island.

Die Fahrt dorthin wird schnell, holprig und etwas mehr als eine Stunde dauern. Beim Verlassen des Jettys (= Bootsanlegestelle) kann man Kawthaung schön überblicken. Wir queren unzählige Inseln des Mergui Archipels, aber Fotos zu schießen ist bei dem Geholpere , welches ziemlich in den Rücken geht, eigentlich unmöglich !

Zu unserer Sicherheit müssen wir alle Schwimmwesten tragen.

In einer bestimmten Zone werden wir angewiesen, Fotografieren und Filmen einzustellen, da wir uns militärisch genutzten Inseln nähern. Die Crew müsste Zuwiderhandeln melden, und dann könnten wir uns von unseren Kameras verabschieden. Hier im Süden ist also noch in etwa so wie zu Zeiten des absoluten Militärregimes…

Endlich erreichen wir die erste Bucht, und wir machen uns auf zum fröhlichen Schnorcheln ! Sogar Nwe versucht sich erstmalig darin. Eine herrliche bunte Unterwasserwelt offenbart sich, und ich bedaure, keine Unterwasserkamera zu besitzen. Irgendwann sollten wir vielleicht doch mal einen Tauchkurs machen…

Danach geht es weiter zur nächsten Bucht, wo sich das Restaurant und auch Bungalows befinden, in denen man nächtigen kann. Aber zunächst ist es Zeit für das Mittagessen, also ran an die Bulleten ! Ein schönes Buffet wartet darauf, geleert zu werden.

Einige Koreaner kennen keine Regeln, weder beim Anstellen am Buffet noch bei der Beachtung besetzter Liegen oder Sessel. Kaum geht man aufs Klo oder ein Glas Wasser holen, darf man dickliche Koreaner von seinem Sitzplatz verweisen.

Nach dem Essen bestaunen wir die einfachen Bungalow-Zelte.

Mehr Zelte als Bungalows. Wir müssen uns mal informieren, was eine Übernachtung darin wohl kosten würde. Innen sieht es so aus : Die restliche Zeit verbingen wir damit, wundervolle Erinnerungsfotos zu machen.

Am Strand und im Wasser finden sich hier unzählige rote Quallen, welche normalerweise hier nur zur Regenzeit anzutreffen sein sollten. Angeblich sind sie ungefährlich, verursachen aber Juckreiz und Brennen. Also sind wir da vorsichtig und greifen die Quallen lieber nur SO an :-)

Gegen 15h sammelt man sich dann zur Rückfahrt, diesmal nimmt Walter vorne am Bug Platz und bereut es bitterlich, den hier gibt es echt harte Schläge in den Rücken. Diesmal haben wir alle keine Schwimmwesten angelegt, das Tempo ist rasant und Walter traut sich nicht zurück nach hinten, hahah ! Walter büßt jetzt eine Stunde lang alle seine Sünden ab, bis endlich wieder Kawthaung erreicht ist. Bis dahin versuchen wir wieder, irgendwie ein paar brauchbare Fotos einzufangen, was mehr oder weniger ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit ist..

Am Ende der stürmischen Fahrt hat diese einigen Mitstreitern ein wenig auf den Magen geschlagen :-)

Wir erreichen endlich wieder Kawthaung, bald ist es mit der Schüttlerei vorbei. Zumindest für heute…

Hill 555

Bevor es nun ( es ist 17 uhr ) zum Abendessen geht, fahren wir den Hill 555 hinauf, um dort einen wunderbaren Ausblick über Kawthaung geboten zu bekommen. Viele Einheimische nutzen den Aussichtspunkt zum Entspannen oder für romantische Momente :-)

Ein hübsches, kleines Mädchen geniesst ebenfalls den Ausblick.

Noch schnell einen süßen kleinen Hunde gefüttert…

Dann geht es ins nahe gelegene

Mingalar Cafe and Restaurant

Ein Lokal, das ebenfalls einen herrlichen Blick über das nächtlich Kawthaung offeriert , und zwar bei Tageslicht ebenso wie abends !

Und nebenbei ein wirklich gutes Abendessen ! Fried Rice with Pork and Broccoli für Walter, Fried Rice with Prawns and Shrimps für Doris, dazu frisches Bananenfrapee bzw. Wassermelonensaft, herrlich ! Mit den Speisen und Getränken für Nwe und den Fahrer ergibt das eine Rechung von 21000 Kyat, inklusive Trinkgeld.

Bevor wir das Lokal verlassen, macht uns eine Katze darauf aufmerksam, dass sie nicht hungrig zurückgelassen werden möchte , also erfüllen wir unsere “”Pflicht” :-) Doris teilt einfach Ihre Schrimps mit ihr

Dann machen wir noch einen Rundgang durch das Restaurant, welches ein wirklich schönes Ambiente bietet.

Ach ja, hier noch ein Blick auf die Speisekarte des Restaurantes :

Während der Rückfahrt bemerkt Nwe, dass Sie ihre Jacke im Restaurant vergessen hat, und in der selben Minute ruft das Restaurant auch schon den Fahrer an, um ihm selbiges mitzuteilen. Also zurück und Jacke abholen. Beim Einsteigen stürzt Nwe und verletzt sich an den Einstiegstrittbrettern des Wagens, aber alles verläuft glimpflich, aber halt schmerzhaft. Zu Hause im Bungalow versorgt Doris Nwe ´s Bein, und dann drehen wir wieder unsere abendlichen Runden im Pool. Unter den Augen dieses Besuchers :-)

Morgen geht es wieder auf Insel-Tour. Wir wollen ein paar verschieden Inseln besuchen, aber ganz besonders wichtig ist uns Cock`s Comb Island, das morgen am Programm steht…
